thy_o father_n and_o thy_o mother_n shall_v forsake_v thou_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o he_o will_v take_v the_o care_n of_o thou_o psal_n 27.10_o if_o god_n have_v once_o choose_v thou_o for_o his_o own_o and_o set_v his_o love_n upon_o thou_o whether_o thou_o be_v in_o health_n or_o in_o sickness_n in_o ease_n or_o in_o pain_n in_o prosperity_n or_o adversity_n in_o life_n or_o in_o death_n but_o that_o which_o he_o intend_v and_o provide_v in_o love_n for_o the_o so_o that_o whether_o you_o live_v or_o die_v you_o be_v the_o lord_n rom._n 14.8_o the_o lord_n for_o special_a end_n may_v give_v thou_o over_o unto_o affliction_n he_o may_v give_v thou_o up_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o those_o that_o hate_v thou_o yea_o even_o unto_o the_o death_n and_o therefore_o will_v take_v away_o malice_n can_v bring_v thou_o into_o thou_o be_v still_o as_o dear_a and_o precious_a in_o the_o lord_n eye_n as_o ever_o thou_o be_v nay_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a dear_a now_o than_o ever_o thou_o be_v before_o if_o those_o trouble_n and_o affliction_n which_o thy_o enemy_n have_v devise_v and_o bring_v upon_o thou_o be_v for_o righteousness_n sake_n one_o friend_n may_v love_v another_o dear_o yet_o when_o the_o one_o shall_v expose_v himself_o to_o danger_n or_o trouble_n for_o the_o other_o sake_n when_o i_o see_v my_o friend_n have_v not_o regard_v his_o life_n for_o my_o good_a but_o adventure_v and_o hazard_v his_o own_o life_n in_o my_o defence_n and_o safety_n how_o do_v this_o increase_n my_o affection_n towards_o he_o as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o jonathan_n his_o soul_n be_v knit_v with_o the_o soul_n of_o david_n and_o jonathan_n love_v he_o as_o his_o own_o soul_n 1_o sam._n 18.1_o so_o this_o will_v knit_v my_o heart_n and_o love_n unto_o he_o and_o i_o shall_v love_v he_o as_o my_o own_o soul_n how_o much_o more_o than_o may_v we_o be_v assure_v that_o if_o our_o affliction_n be_v for_o god_n cause_n in_o his_o defence_n he_o will_v abundant_o recompense_v and_o and_o will_v own_v they_o for_o his_o people_n whatsoever_o outward_a sorrow_n or_o misery_n may_v befall_v they_o i_o have_v sure_o see_v the_o trouble_n of_o my_o people_n and_o have_v hear_v their_o cry_n and_o i_o know_v their_o sorrow_n exod._n 3.7_o though_o we_o be_v in_o trouble_n yea_o and_o such_o trouble_n as_o make_v we_o cry_v out_o for_o grief_n and_o sorrow_n yet_o still_o we_o be_v the_o lord_n people_n outward_a misery_n and_o trouble_n can_v make_v god_n to_o respect_v any_o of_o his_o any_o thing_n the_o less_o god_n be_v not_o like_o some_o proud_a people_n of_o the_o world_n who_o will_v acknowledge_v their_o friend_n no_o long_o than_o they_o be_v in_o prosperity_n and_o be_v able_a to_o requite_v their_o kindness_n with_o kindness_n again_o some_o such_o beast_n there_o be_v that_o if_o they_o be_v either_o advance_v into_o high_a place_n above_o their_o parent_n or_o their_o parent_n their_o brethren_n sister_n and_o friend_n fall_v into_o decay_n and_o poverty_n will_v scarce_o own_v they_o but_o grow_v to_o be_v ashamed_a of_o they_o it_o be_v far_o otherwise_o betwixt_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o people_n when_o they_o be_v up_o to_o the_o knee_n in_o dirt_n when_o they_o be_v cruel_o oppress_v when_o in_o a_o poor_a and_o base_a condition_n it_o may_v be_v not_o have_v clothes_n to_o cover_v their_o nakedness_n when_o their_o cheek_n look_v pale_a and_o their_o face_n lean_a and_o wan_a through_o hunger_n sorrow_n or_o sickness_n when_o they_o be_v grow_v out_o of_o favour_n through_o bodily_a disease_n they_o be_v even_o then_o as_o lovely_a in_o the_o lord_n eye_n as_o ever_o and_o he_o will_v then_o acknowledge_v we_o for_o his_o people_n aswell_o nay_o better_o then_o in_o our_o great_a prosperity_n if_o a_o child_n be_v sick_a in_o the_o family_n how_o be_v the_o thought_n and_o mind_n of_o the_o parent_n take_v up_o about_o that_o child_n how_o do_v they_o tend_v it_o and_o pity_v it_o o_o my_o poor_a sick_a child_n etc._n etc._n thus_o do_v the_o lord_n pity_v his_o child_n and_o tender_v they_o in_o their_o affliction_n use_v 1_o affliction_n now_o to_o make_v some_o application_n of_o the_o point_n be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o persuasion_n of_o god_n love_n be_v a_o great_a help_n to_o carry_v we_o cheerful_o through_o affliction_n here_o hence_o then_o we_o may_v be_v instruct_v what_o the_o cause_n be_v that_o we_o be_v so_o much_o trouble_v and_o perplex_v with_o affliction_n as_o if_o they_o be_v the_o mean_n of_o our_o undo_n that_o the_o very_a thought_n or_o expectation_n of_o they_o be_v most_o grievous_a and_o irksome_a unto_o we_o certain_o here_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o all_o our_o fear_n and_o doubt_n the_o want_n of_o a_o sound_a persuasion_n and_o assurance_n of_o god_n love_n in_o correct_v we_o do_v we_o believe_v that_o when_o we_o be_v afflict_v we_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o holy_a righteous_a everliving_a and_o everloving_a god_n who_o never_o do_v we_o any_o wrong_n who_o never_o intend_v we_o any_o harm_n but_o always_o go_v the_o best_a the_o wise_a and_o the_o most_o love_a way_n to_o work_v with_o his_o child_n will_v we_o not_o be_v less_o afraid_a of_o affliction_n than_o we_o be_v more_o willing_a to_o undergo_v they_o then_o we_o be_v little_o do_v we_o know_v how_o high_o we_o dishonour_v god_n how_o much_o we_o gratify_v and_o please_v the_o devil_n when_o we_o repine_v against_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n when_o we_o be_v impatient_a in_o affliction_n and_o question_v his_o love_n for_o correct_v we_o the_o devil_n desire_v that_o job_n may_v be_v sore_o afflict_v that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o curse_n god_n stretch_v now_o out_o thy_o hand_n and_o touch_v his_o bone_n and_o his_o flesh_n to_o see_v if_o he_o will_v not_o blaspheme_v thou_o to_o thy_o face_n job_n 2.5_o it_o be_v a_o pastime_n unto_o the_o devil_n to_o set_v god_n and_o his_o child_n at_o variance_n and_o therefore_o he_o desire_v to_o vex_v and_o perplex_v we_o that_o so_o we_o may_v open_v our_o mouth_n against_o the_o lord_n and_o quarrel_n with_o he_o for_o when_o we_o be_v discontent_v with_o the_o lord_n deal_v when_o we_o mutter_v and_o murmur_v against_o the_o lord_n what_o do_v we_o less_o than_o rebel_n against_o he_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o moses_n call_v the_o murmur_a israelite_n rebel_n numb_a 20_o 10._o hear_v now_o you_o rebel_n shall_v we_o bring_v you_o water_n out_o of_o this_o rock_n therefore_o murmur_v not_o against_o the_o lord_n for_o than_o thou_o rebelle_v against_o he_o and_o rob_v he_o as_o much_o as_o in_o thou_o lie_v of_o his_o most_o glorious_a attribute_n his_o power_n his_o goodness_n his_o love_n his_o truth_n when_o we_o deal_v with_o that_o man_n which_o make_v conscience_n of_o his_o word_n we_o question_v not_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o promise_n but_o rest_n upon_o the_o performance_n and_o make_v good_a of_o that_o which_o he_o have_v say_v if_o a_o father_n promise_v unto_o his_o child_n any_o thing_n the_o child_n make_v as_o sure_a reckon_n of_o the_o thing_n promise_v as_o if_o he_o have_v it_o already_o in_o possession_n shall_v we_o dare_v to_o give_v less_o credit_n to_o god_n then_o to_o man_n when_o he_o tell_v we_o he_o correct_v we_o in_o love_n and_o intend_v our_o good_a in_o afflict_v of_o we_o shall_v we_o dare_v to_o question_v the_o truth_n of_o his_o word_n especial_o when_o he_o have_v second_v his_o word_n by_o oath_n yea_o and_o seal_v both_o with_o the_o blood_n
