man_n that_o be_v a_o stranger_n bear_v of_o a_o people_n both_o hate_v and_o count_v envious_a have_v acquaintance_n with_o none_o of_o they_o neither_o yet_o set_v out_o with_o any_o outward_a glory_n and_o he_o bring_v a_o message_n which_o as_o it_o be_v exceed_a sour_a to_o delicate_a ear_n so_o if_o we_o will_v harken_v to_o carnal_a judgement_n rather_o be_v the_o messenger_n to_o be_v pity_v than_o his_o message_n to_o be_v believe_v for_o who_o can_v possible_o persuade_v himself_o that_o this_o most_o flourish_a city_n where_o against_o no_o enemy_n at_o all_o be_v ready_a to_o make_v battle_n may_v in_o so_o short_a space_n be_v destroy_v and_o overthrow_v yet_o be_v all_o these_o difficulty_n overcome_v by_o say_v which_o now_o shine_v in_o their_o mind_n by_o a_o serete_a work_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n by_o the_o which_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v stir_v up_o forthwith_o they_o examine_v their_o own_o life_n they_o look_v upon_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n they_o to_o repent_v let_v we_o hear_v it_o attentive_o examine_v our_o manner_n &_o whole_a conversation_n of_o life_n thereby_o amend_v those_o thing_n which_o hitherto_o we_o have_v do_v amiss_o turn_v with_o our_o whole_a heart_n unto_o god_n and_o call_v for_o his_o grace_n so_o shall_v he_o merciful_o receive_v we_o through_o christ_n jesus_n to_o who_o belong_v thanksgiving_n honour_n glory_n the_o example_n of_o this_o city_n so_o then_o this_o history_n be_v very_o worthy_a to_o be_v consider_v that_o by_o it_o we_o may_v learn_v what_o be_v require_v of_o we_o both_o private_o and_o public_o to_o be_v do_v in_o those_o thing_n which_o in_o the_o former_a homely_a be_v express_v jonas_n propound_v the_o sum_n of_o the_o whole_a matter_n now_o in_o hand_n namely_o that_o the_o nonivite_fw-la believe_v god_n and_o turn_v unto_o he_o testify_v their_o repentance_n with_o outward_a sign_n that_o be_v to_o say_v with_o public_a fast_v and_o murn_v in_o this_o he_o set_v out_o more_o at_o large_a how_o and_o after_o what_o sort_n they_o perform_v it_o for_o he_o make_v mention_v both_o of_o the_o example_n that_o the_o king_n himself_o give_v and_o also_o of_o the_o open_a proclamation_n which_o be_v do_v he_o describe_v the_o fruit_n of_o this_o their_o repentance_n first_o he_o say_v king_n that_o the_o tiding_n come_v to_o the_o king_n of_o ninive_n that_o be_v to_o wit_n the_o report_n of_o jonas_n preach_v wherwithal_o he_o have_v even_o fill_v the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o city_n for_o it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o king_n to_o have_v many_o ear_n many_o eye_n and_o many_o hand_n namely_o officer_n by_o who_o they_o know_v &_o administer_v all_o thing_n and_o such_o of_o necessity_n they_o must_v have_v for_o that_o themselves_o without_o further_a help_n neither_o can_v be_v present_a every_o where_o nor_o suffice_v for_o the_o good_a order_n of_o all_o matter_n and_o here_o even_o at_o the_o first_o be_v to_o be_v see_v a_o token_n of_o a_o realm_n well_o govern_v in_o that_o the_o counselor_n and_o other_o officer_n of_o the_o court_n without_o any_o further_a delay_n make_v relation_n to_o the_o king_n of_o this_o matter_n be_v of_o so_o great_a weight_n although_o otherwise_o not_o so_o pleasant_a to_o the_o ear_n and_o then_o that_o although_o they_o judge_v the_o matter_n to_o be_v such_o as_o it_o be_v meet_v the_o king_n shall_v have_v knowledge_n of_o yet_o do_v they_o not_o lay_v hold_n upon_o jonas_n nor_o accuse_v he_o as_o a_o disturber_n of_o the_o common_a wealth_n before_o the_o thing_n be_v thorough_o consult_v of_o but_o plain_o and_o without_o any_o frande_n make_v they_o report_v what_o be_v a_o do_v in_o the_o city_n far_o otherwise_o be_v the_o manner_n in_o many_o prince_n court_n at_o this_o day_n when_o as_o in_o a_o manner_n the_o whole_a devise_n of_o they_o that_o be_v to_o give_v counsel_n be_v to_o make_v king_n effeminate_a and_o to_o draw_v they_o a_o way_n from_o care_n touch_v the_o common_a estate_n that_o they_o may_v themselves_o rule_v all_o at_o their_o own_o pleasure_n 7._o this_o fault_n hose_n as_o also_o complain_v of_o in_o the_o king_n that_o live_v in_o his_o time_n such_o kind_n of_o counsellor_n have_v evermore_o a_o eye_n that_o prince_n may_v understand_v of_o nothing_o that_o may_v seem_v grievous_a and_o unpleasant_a unto_o they_o but_o that_o even_o in_o common_a danger_n they_o may_v give_v themselves_o careless_o to_o banquet_v and_o pastime_n they_o be_v therefore_o ever_o tickle_v their_o king_n in_o the_o ear_n if_o there_o be_v offer_v in_o we_o but_o especial_o if_o they_o put_v on_o a_o show_n of_o religion_n for_o than_o they_o forcible_o draw_v man_n away_o past_a all_o bound_n of_o séemelynesse_n and_o honesty_n yea_o rather_o of_o godliness_n itself_o so_o do_v the_o apostle_n by_o a_o preposterous_a zeal_n follow_v their_o affection_n desire_n that_o fire_n may_v be_v send_v down_o from_o heaven_n thus_o covet_v to_o say_v he_o be_v not_o this_o my_o say_n i_o pray_v thou_o when_o i_o be_v yet_o in_o my_o own_o country_n etc_n etc_n he_o fashion_v his_o talk_n in_o manner_n of_o a_o prayer_n howbeit_o very_o day_n of_o his_o fall_n for_o in_o these_o word_n he_o express_v the_o principal_a cause_n that_o move_v the_o edomite_n like_o enemy_n to_o make_v invasion_n into_o the_o city_n namely_o for_o that_o escape_v from_o the_o tyranny_n of_o antichrist_n to_o return_v to_o wicked_a superstition_n not_o suffer_v they_o to_o enjoy_v christian_a liberty_n these_o be_v plain_a show_n of_o the_o edomitish_a cruelty_n which_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o suffer_v unrevenged_a who_o account_v it_o as_o do_v to_o himself_o whatsoever_o be_v do_v against_o those_o that_o be_v he_o according_a to_o that_o say_n who_o so_o touch_v you_o touch_v the_o apple_n of_o my_o eye_n and_o again_o saul_n saul_n why_o persecute_v thou_o i_o look_v zacha._n 2._o and_o 12._o and_o act._n 9_o hereunto_o now_o serve_v punishement_n which_o god_n will_v lay_v upon_o the_o ungodly_a heathen_a as_o though_o he_o may_v say_v even_o as_o you_o which_o be_v my_o people_n and_o upon_o zion_n have_v observe_v the_o rite_n and_o ceremony_n which_o i_o deliver_v for_o other_o your_o offence_n have_v drink_v of_o the_o cup_n of_o my_o iudignation_n that_o i_o reach_v out_o unto_o you_o by_o the_o babylonian_n so_o shall_v also_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o heathen_a be_v constrain_v to_o drink_v of_o the_o same_o cup_n yea_o to_o sup_v it_o off_o even_o to_o the_o dregs_n when_o as_o i_o be_o purpose_v to_o pull_v they_o out_o by_o the_o root_n this_o sense_n
