to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o a_o real_a reformation_n the_o sadn_v of_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n people_n and_o pull_v down_o his_o dreadful_a judgement_n upon_o we_o and_o upon_o the_o whole_a pursue_v and_o perform_v the_o thing_n and_o matter_n therein_o promise_v nor_o be_v it_o in_o the_o power_n of_o any_o man_n or_o humane_a authority_n to_o release_v acquit_v or_o discharge_v they_o from_o the_o same_o but_o that_o when_o and_o howsoever_o the_o solemn_a league_n and_o covenant_n be_v slight_v lay_v aside_o or_o violate_v by_o any_o the_o subject_n thereof_o they_o shall_v be_v liable_a unto_o the_o guilt_n and_o punishment_n of_o perjury_n in_o the_o breach_n thereof_o this_o permanency_n of_o obligation_n and_o impossibility_n of_o discharge_n do_v spring_n from_o a_o double_a cause_n 1._o the_o nature_n of_o a_o oath_n which_o be_v a_o solemn_a and_o serious_a appeal_n to_o and_o invocation_n of_o god_n as_o witness_n and_o avenger_n of_o the_o thing_n swear_v presence_n of_o almighty_a god_n the_o searcher_n of_o all_o heart_n with_o a_o true_a intention_n to_o perform_v the_o same_o as_o we_o shall_v answer_v at_o that_o great_a day_n when_o the_o secret_n of_o all_o heart_n shall_v be_v disclose_v and_o by_o a_o peculiar_a provision_n that_o we_o shall_v never_o suffer_v ourselves_o direct_o or_o indirect_o by_o whatsoever_o combination_n persuasion_n or_o terror_n to_o be_v divide_v or_o withdraw_v from_o this_o bless_a union_n and_o conjunction_n whether_o to_o make_v defection_n to_o the_o contrary_a part_n or_o to_o give_v up_o ourselves_o to_o a_o detestable_a neutrality_n in_o this_o cause_n which_o so_o much_o concern_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n good_a of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o honour_n of_o the_o king_n but_o shall_v all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n zealous_o and_o constant_o continue_v therein_o so_o that_o the_o matter_n of_o this_o covenant_n be_v as_o i_o have_v before_o assert_v good_a and_o lawful_a because_o just_a and_o possible_a if_o there_o be_v in_o the_o world_n any_o power_n or_o person_n entrust_v with_o that_o divine_a prerogative_n to_o discharge_v the_o obligation_n of_o a_o oath_n we_o can_v not_o receive_v it_o because_o it_o be_v actual_o and_o express_o disclaim_v we_o sir_n live_v among_o protestant_n who_o by_o their_o very_a profession_n do_v protest_v against_o all_o papal_a dispensation_n and_o jesuitical_a commutation_n thereupon_o dependent_a and_o therefore_o i_o need_v not_o stand_v to_o make_v any_o defence_n in_o this_o cause_n against_o the_o same_o
