regard_v not_o our_o misery_n 2_o than_o it_o follow_v that_o all_o our_o suffering_n be_v not_o worthy_a of_o the_o life_n to_o come_v be_v thou_o good_a then_o despise_v these_o worldly_a sorrow_n and_o hope_v for_o heavenly_a joy_n be_v thou_o a_o evil_a man_n then_o repent_v with_o speed_n lest_o thy_o intolerable_a evil_n be_v turn_v into_o intolerable_a woe_n will_v thou_o by_o pain_n seek_v advauncement_n they_o deserve_v it_o not_o will_v thou_o by_o pain_n be_v amend_v then_o pray_v for_o repentance_n oh_o how_o be_v we_o punish_v in_o this_o life_n nay_o rather_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v bless_v in_o another_o life_n can_v thou_o which_o lie_v in_o some_o strange_a torment_n be_v content_a to_o end_v thy_o life_n in_o sorrow_n to_o spend_v thy_o good_a for_o ease_n or_o to_o become_v any_o base_a servant_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v release_v be_v thy_o pain_n so_o great_a so_o comfortless_o and_o so_o continual_a yet_o for_o all_o this_o be_v not_o disquiet_v be_v not_o discourage_v for_o anon_o thy_o joy_n may_v be_v far_o more_o pleasant_a and_o continual_a but_o why_o do_v i_o spend_v time_n in_o vain_a fear_v thou_o any_o of_o those_o evil_n which_o happen_v in_o our_o companion_n and_o heaven_n our_o way_n end_n see_v all_o be_v do_v elsewhere_o i_o will_v not_o now_o stand_v upon_o it_o only_o in_o these_o word_n i_o will_v urge_v this_o that_o there_o be_v no_o repentance_n hart_n except_o the_o whole_a hart_n be_v change_v it_o be_v not_o in_o good_a word_n nor_o yet_o in_o a_o outward_a good_a practice_n but_o in_o the_o motion_n and_o affection_n of_o the_o hart_n 1._o king_n 8._o 47_o 48._o for_o this_o cause_n our_o saviour_n bid_v first_o cleanse_v that_o which_o be_v within_o and_o then_o that_o which_o be_v without_o as_o man_n do_v first_o cleanse_v the_o inside_n of_o a_o vessel_n not_o the_o outside_n and_o then_o put_v goodness_n therein_o so_o must_v the_o hart_n which_o be_v a_o vessel_n be_v first_o cleanse_v or_o else_o all_o be_v vain_a which_o the_o hand_n do_v the_o mouth_n speak_v and_o the_o mind_n believe_v thy_o memory_n must_v be_v turn_v thy_o understanding_n will_n and_o affection_n must_v be_v change_v thy_o memory_n by_o remember_v god_n and_o his_o truth_n thy_o understanding_n by_o know_v god_n and_o his_o gospel_n thy_o will_n by_o believe_v god_n and_o his_o promise_n and_o thy_o affection_n by_o love_v desire_v meditate_v and_o rejoice_v in_o and_o on_o heavenly_a thing_n and_o then_o be_v thy_o whole_a hart_n convert_v some_o have_v knowledge_n and_o understanding_n but_o no_o sound_n faith_n or_o sweet_a love_n some_o again_o love_n but_o they_o want_v knowledge_n and_o so_o some_o have_v a_o good_a will_n to_o the_o gospel_n but_o they_o want_v memory_n for_o the_o amend_v of_o all_o this_o follow_v my_o direction_n confer_v and_o you_o shall_v have_v memory_n read_v and_o you_o shall_v have_v knowledge_n hear_v and_o you_o shall_v have_v faith_n pray_v often_o and_o you_o shall_v have_v all_o good_a affection_n all_o which_o must_v be_v do_v before_o you_o can_v be_v save_v the_o first_o
reason_n hereofmay_v be_v this_o because_o no_o man_n can_v have_v a_o perfect_a faith_n without_o the_o total_a 1._o conversion_n of_o the_o hart_n rom._n 10._o 9_o and_o man_n can_v never_o live_v well_o that_o believe_v not_o well_o say_v augustine_n if_o thou_o have_v one_o part_n of_o thy_o heart_n with_o the_o lord_n because_o thou_o know_v the_o truth_n thou_o have_v another_o part_n with_o the_o world_n in_o love_v thy_o life_n so_o in_o part_n thou_o believe_v god_n and_o believe_v the_o devil_n can_v thou_o brag_v of_o faith_n when_o thy_o heart_n be_v distract_v love_a and_o like_v two_o contrary_a master_n no_o very_o thou_o deceive_v thyself_o thou_o can_v not_o love_v gold_n and_o believe_v in_o god_n thou_o can_v not_o haunt_v thy_o pleasure_n and_o yet_o delight_v in_o the_o gospel_n therefore_o if_o thou_o will_v have_v a_o sound_a faith_n thou_o must_v first_o have_v a_o sound_a hart_n convert_v thy_o hart_n and_o then_o thy_o faith_n will_v follow_v if_o it_o be_v thorough_o thou_o shall_v have_v a_o perfect_a faith_n but_o if_o thou_o do_v it_o in_o part_n then_o be_v it_o but_o a_o paint_a body_n which_o can_v neither_o go_v nor_o see_v another_o reason_n because_o regeneration_n make_v 2_o the_o heart_n to_o be_v one_o jerem._n 32._o 39_o indeed_o they_o which_o wander_v in_o wickedness_n have_v a_o hart_n and_o a_o hart_n but_o when_o we_o not_o say_v solomon_n i_o will_v give_v thou_o to_o morrow_n when_o thou_o may_v to_o day_n the_o whole_a time_n of_o this_o life_n be_v a_o time_n of_o repentance_n and_o therefore_o look_v how_o convert_v it_o may_v be_v thou_o have_v not_o weep_v by_o reason_n of_o some_o natural_a infirmity_n but_o it_o must_v be_v that_o thou_o have_v pray_v or_o else_o it_o can_v be_v that_o thou_o have_v the_o lord_n have_v show_v open_a token_n of_o his_o favour_n towards_o we_o so_o we_o must_v show_v open_a token_n of_o our_o repentance_n toward_o he_o the_o which_o reason_n well_o consider_v will_v teach_v we_o that_o there_o ought_v to_o be_v as_o great_a love_n in_o we_o for_o our_o salvation_n as_o be_v in_o christ_n for_o our_o redemption_n he_o care_v not_o for_o his_o life_n that_o he_o may_v save_v we_o why_o then_o shall_v we_o care_v for_o our_o own_o life_n and_o spare_v our_o sin_n he_o shed_v his_o blood_n and_o we_o send_v our_o folly_n he_o give_v himself_o for_o our_o sin_n and_o yet_o we_o will_v not_o let_v he_o have_v they_o there_o be_v none_o that_o be_v ignorant_a of_o this_o except_o he_o have_v repent_v he_o must_v have_v perish_v and_o therefore_o if_o
