the_o humble_a petition_n and_o resolution_n of_o the_o county_n of_o essex_n present_v to_o the_o right_n honourable_a the_o lord_n and_o commons_o assemble_v in_o parliament_n and_o read_v in_o both_o house_n the_o 17._o of_o this_o present_a june_n 1642._o with_o the_o answer_n thereunto_o annex_v and_o command_v by_o the_o lord_n to_o be_v forthwith_o print_v and_o publish_v humble_o show_v that_o we_o have_v with_o joy_n and_o admiration_n observe_v the_o wife_n and_o gracious_a passage_n and_o proceed_n of_o this_o parliament_n and_o the_o pious_a tender_a and_o affectionate_a care_n of_o your_o honour_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o peace_n and_o honour_n of_o his_o most_o excellent_a majesty_n and_o these_o three_o thrice_o happy_o unite_v kingdom_n represent_v to_o the_o world_n in_o your_o several_a ordinance_n declaration_n vote_n and_o remonstrance_n sufficient_a to_o stop_v the_o mouth_n if_o it_o be_v possible_o of_o envy_n and_o malignity_n itself_o can_v but_o with_o grief_n and_o indignation_n wonder_v to_o hear_v that_o there_o shall_v yet_o be_v find_v and_o that_o even_o about_o the_o regal_a throne_n such_o unnatural_a and_o evil_a affect_a spirit_n and_o malignant_a counselor_n who_o desirous_a to_o swim_v to_o the_o haven_n of_o their_o ambitious_a hope_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o their_o dear_a friend_n and_o countryman_n do_v continual_o instill_v into_o his_o majesty_n royal_a breast_n a_o sinister_a conceit_n and_o misinterpretation_n of_o your_o most_o humble_a and_o loyal_a affection_n and_o noble_a action_n and_o undertaking_n wherefore_o we_o understand_v not_o by_o misinformation_n of_o fly_a report_n but_o by_o the_o late_a vote_n and_o declaration_n of_o both_o your_o honourable_a house_n that_o his_o majesty_n seduccd_v by_o wicked_a council_n intend_v to_o make_v war_n against_o the_o parliament_n that_o so_o to_o do_v be_v a_o breach_n of_o the_o trust_n repose_v in_o he_o by_o his_o people_n contrary_a to_o his_o oath_n and_o that_o whosoever_o shall_v serve_v or_o assist_v he_o in_o such_o war_n be_v traitor_n by_o the_o fundamental_a law●s_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o withal_o perceive_v your_o most_o christian_a and_o heroical_a resolution_n to_o persist_v in_o your_o honourable_a endeavour_n for_o the_o public_a safety_n though_o you_o shall_v which_o god_n avert_v perish_v in_o the_o work_n we_o think_v it_o our_o duty_n humble_o to_o represent_v to_o your_o honour_n the_o faithful_a affection_n and_o invoyable_a resolution_n of_o our_o soul_n to_o stand_v or_o fall_v live_v or_o die_v together_o with_o you_o according_a to_o our_o protestation_n thus_o with_o our_o hand_n upon_o our_o sword_n we_o stand_v ready_a at_o your_o command_n to_o perform_v our_o vow_n to_o god_n and_o oath_n of_o fidelity_n of_o his_o majesty_n in_o take_v up_o arm_n against_o those_o false_a flatterer_n and_o traitor_n who_o abuse_v his_o royal_a favour_n intend_v under_o the_o glorious_a title_n of_o his_o name_n and_o standard_n to_o fight_v against_o the_o peace_n and_o honour_n of_o their_o sovereign_n against_o religion_n and_o the_o law_n and_o to_o make_v a_o prey_n and_o spoil_v of_o three_o flourish_a kingdom_n at_o once_o and_o to_o spend_v our_o dear_a blood_n in_o the_o defence_n of_o the_o life_n and_o liberty_n of_o our_o country_n man_n the_o law_n which_o be_v the_o life_n of_o our_o liberty_n and_o peace_n religion_n more_o precious_a then_o both_o and_o the_o king_n and_o parliament_n in_o who_o libes_fw-la lie_v bind_v up_o the_o life_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n whosoever_o be_v otherwise_o affect_v we_o hold_v he_o not_o worthy_a the_o name_n of_o a_o soldier_n but_o a_o proditor_n of_o his_o king_n and_o country_n to_o all_o posterity_n last_o find_v a_o multitude_n of_o well_o affect_a people_n who_o heart_n be_v good_a to_o join_v with_o we_o but_o want_v arm_n we_o most_o humble_o crave_v that_o restitution_n may_v be_v make_v
