see_v he_o have_v separate_v they_o from_o other_o for_o there_o be_v no_o holiness_n to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o idol_n of_o the_o gentile_n be_v but_o the_o work_n of_o man_n hand_n god_n then_o power_n at_o so_o low_a a_o rate_n that_o we_o sometime_o afford_v he_o not_o the_o honour_n which_o we_o will_v give_v to_o a_o mortal_a man_n man_n for_o the_o most_o part_n we_o afford_v not_o god_n the_o honour_n which_o we_o will_v give_v to_o a_o mortal_a man_n yea_o the_o appearance_n of_o a_o silly_a worm_n of_o the_o earth_n put_v we_o sometime_o into_o so_o great_a mammer_v and_o fear_n that_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o almighty_a in_o the_o holy_a bible_n can_v scarce_o comfort_v us._n for_o this_o cause_n the_o prophet_n have_v just_a cause_n to_o repeat_v it_o so_o often_o that_o god_n be_v defraud_v of_o his_o honour_n if_o his_o power_n ravish_v we_o not_o so_o as_o to_o admire_v it_o thus_o he_o make_v no_o idle_a repetition_n you_o see_v because_o we_o be_v so_o dull_a and_o slow_a of_o hear_v that_o we_o have_v need_v to_o be_v awaken_v and_o prick_v at_o every_o turn_n with_o the_o spur_n man_n daily_o behold_v the_o heaven_n and_o the_o star_n but_o where_o be_v he_o that_o think_v serious_o of_o the_o author_n of_o these_o thing_n we_o see_v the_o shape_n of_o man_n so_o artificial_o form_v by_o god_n that_o he_o be_v put_v into_o this_o world_n to_o behold_v the_o heaven_n that_o he_o may_v acknowledge_v the_o lord_n of_o they_o for_o god_n have_v bow_v down_o the_o face_n of_o beast_n towards_o the_o earth_n and_o have_v make_v man_n to_o go_v upright_o to_o stir_v he_o up_o to_o view_v the_o place_n of_o his_o abode_n and_o this_o be_v well_o describe_v by_o a_o profane_a poet_n who_o say_v although_o every_o creep_a thing_n bend_v his_o face_n chief_o towards_o the_o earth_n yet_o to_o man_n god_n have_v give_v a_o face_n to_o look_v upward_o and_o have_v create_v he_o to_o behold_v the_o excellency_n of_o the_o heaven_n and_o his_o eye_n but_o have_v rather_o have_v their_o snout_n gruble_v in_o the_o earth_n like_o mole_n for_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n must_v needs_o touch_v we_o near_o if_o we_o look_v wishly_o upon_o the_o heaven_n in_o name_v of_o the_o star_n he_o express_v more_o plain_o that_o the_o wonderful_a order_n which_o shine_v in_o the_o heaven_n do_v as_o it_o be_v preach_v with_o a_o loud_a voice_n love_n resemble_v a_o mother_n but_o as_o touch_v his_o power_n a_o lion_n he_o resemble_v a_o mother_n but_o touch_v his_o force_n and_o power_n he_o be_v like_o a_o lion_n verse_n 15._o i_o will_v make_v waste_a mountain_n and_o hill_n and_o dry_v up_o all_o their_o herb_n and_o i_o will_v make_v the_o flood_n land_n and_o i_o will_v dry_v up_o the_o pool_n the_o prophet_n mean_v that_o all_o the_o munition_n which_o animate_v the_o wicked_a to_o retain_v these_o poor_a captive_n can_v not_o hinder_v the_o lord_n from_o set_v they_o at_o liberty_n it_o be_v needful_a this_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o as_o to_o continue_v steadfast_a in_o our_o confidence_n isaiah_n therefore_o insist_o upon_o this_o point_n signify_v that_o neither_o man_n nor_o munition_n can_v resist_v the_o lord_n when_o he_o be_v mind_v to_o deliver_v his_o choose_a in_o a_o word_n he_o show_v that_o the_o change_n shall_v be_v such_o that_o those_o who_o be_v the_o strong_a before_o shall_v be_v break_v to_o piece_n and_o shall_v gain_v nothing_o by_o resist_v of_o he_o this_o i_o take_v to_o be_v the_o native_a sense_n of_o these_o word_n so_o that_o it_o be_v needless_a to_o stand_v descant_v subtle_o upon_o they_o any_o long_o as_o some_o do_v who_o expound_v these_o thing_n allegorical_o think_v that_o mountain_n and_o hill_n signify_v city_n herb_n the_o man_n which_o dwell_v in_o they_o but_o why_o shall_v we_o follow_v such_o sophistries_n see_v the_o prophet_n only_o show_v that_o god_n be_v powerful_a enough_o to_o fulfil_v his_o promise_n and_o to_o deliver_v his_o church_n because_o he_o can_v easy_o surmount_v all_o stumble_a block_n that_o shall_v be_v lay_v before_o he_o this_o sentence_n therefore_o answer_v to_o other_o prophecy_n which_o we_o have_v see_v heretofore_o where_o isaiah_n teach_v that_o god_n power_n be_v not_o tie_v to_o second_o cause_n when_o he_o be_v determine_v to_o prevent_v the_o enemy_n of_o their_o purpose_n but_o go_v thorough_a with_o his_o work_n after_o a_o wonderful_a fashion_n cause_n god_n power_n not_o tie_v to_o second_o cause_n and_o break_v down_o all_o impediment_n which_o seem_v to_o shut_v up_o his_o passage_n verse_n 16._o and_o i_o will_v bring_v the_o blind_a by_o a_o way_n that_o they_o know_v not_o and_o lead_v they_o by_o path_n that_o they_o have_v not_o know_v i_o will_v make_v darkness_n light_a before_o they_o and_o crooked_a thing_n straight_o these_o thing_n will_v i_o do_v unto_o they_o and_o not_o forsake_v they_o have_v show_v that_o the_o force_n of_o the_o enemy_n can_v not_o hinder_v god_n from_o indifferent_o prosper_v so_o in_o adversity_n but_o especial_o when_o all_o be_v darken_v with_o sorrow_n when_o all_o hope_n be_v go_v and_o death_n itself_o press_v hard_o upon_o we_o we_o stand_v then_o like_v amaze_v creature_n the_o prophet_n teach_v therefore_o that_o when_o all_o thing_n be_v desperate_a then_o even_o than_o be_v the_o time_n and_o hour_n in_o which_o we_o shall_v most_o of_o all_o expect_v succour_n and_o help_v from_o the_o lord_n strait_n the_o time_n in_o which_o we_o ought_v chief_o to_o expect_v help_n from_o god_n it_o be_v good_a for_o we_o sometime_o to_o be_v bring_v into_o strait_n it_o be_v sometime_o also_o very_o requisite_a that_o we_o be_v bring_v into_o strait_n so_o as_o no_o evasion_n be_v leave_v we_o that_o we_o be_v sometime_o put_v to_o our_o shift_n and_o press_v on_o every_o side_n yea_o to_o be_v leave_v stark_o blind_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o sight_n of_o any_o outward_a mean_n why_o so_o that_o we_o may_v learn_v to_o depend_v upon_o the_o only_a help_n of_o god_n and_o to_o rest_v ourselves_o quiet_o in_o he_o for_o as_o long_o as_o we_o can_v see_v any_o lean_a stock_n or_o be_v able_a to_o catch_v hold_n of_o any_o stay_n be_v it_o never_o so_o little_a upon_o that_o we_o set_v our_o whole_a heart_n and_o thus_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o we_o be_v carry_v hither_o and_o thither_o and_o utter_o neglect_v the_o remembrance_n of_o god_n wont_a favour_n will_v we_o be_v assist_v and_o succour_v then_o in_o our_o adversity_n true_o we_o must_v content_v ourselves_o to_o be_v blind_a then_o that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o must_v turn_v our_o eye_n from_o behold_v thing_n present_a and_o keep_v our_o reason_n short_a that_o we_o may_v only_o rest_v upon_o god_n free_a promise_n i_o grant_v this_o blindness_n will_v not_o be_v very_o please_v to_o we_o and_o that_o therein_o the_o imbecility_n of_o our_o judgement_n may_v be_v therein_o easy_o discern_v yet_o ought_v we_o not_o therefore_o to_o flee_v it_o much_o if_o we_o wise_o consider_v the_o fruit_n that_o redound_v to_o we_o by_o it_o for_o be_v it_o not_o better_a to_o be_v blind_a and_o to_o be_v lead_v by_o god_n hand_n then_o to_o see_v with_o both_o eye_n and_o to_o plunge_v ourselves_o into_o unavoidable_a danger_n he_o confirm_v this_o in_o promise_v to_o turn_v darkness_n into_o light_n be_v it_o then_o that_o we_o perceive_v not_o so_o much_o as_o one_o sparkle_n of_o light_n in_o our_o affliction_n yet_o must_v we_o not_o despair_v of_o god_n help_n but_o use_v it_o rather_o as_o a_o mean_n to_o trust_v more_o confident_o in_o god_n promise_n then_o ever_o we_o do_v before_o for_o god_n will_v easy_o change_v our_o darkness_n into_o light_n he_o will_v soon_o make_v crooked_a thing_n straight_o and_o lead_v we_o in_o the_o way_n that_o we_o may_v bold_o walk_v therein_o without_o stumble_v but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n let_v we_o know_v that_o these_o thing_n be_v only_o promise_v to_o the_o faithful_a that_o put_v themselves_o into_o god_n custody_n and_o be_v content_v to_o be_v govern_v by_o he_o in_o a_o word_n to_o such_o as_o be_v acquaint_v with_o their_o own_o dimness_n of_o sight_n do_v willing_o content_v themselves_o to_o follow_v such_o a_o leader_n wait_v in_o the_o darkness_n of_o their_o affliction_n for_o the_o light_n of_o his_o countenance_n for_o to_o such_o only_a he_o reach_v forth_o his_o hand_n let_v we_o cleave_v fast_o therefore_o to_o his_o promise_n and_o not_o imitate_v the_o wise_a man_n of_o this_o world_n who_o will_v walk_v by_o their_o own_o light_n into_o sundry_a calamity_n if_o we_o see_v the_o church_n scatter_v and_o deform_v at_o this_o day_n let_v we_o blame_v our_o sin_n deformity_n the_o cause_n of_o the_o church_n deformity_n for_o we_o thereby_o will_v not_o suffer_v

not_o certain_a whether_o the_o prophet_n speak_v to_o the_o jew_n that_o be_v to_o say_v to_o those_o of_o the_o household_n of_o god_n or_o to_o stranger_n as_o i_o think_v we_o may_v general_o affirm_v that_o when_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v restore_v the_o power_n of_o god_n shall_v then_o be_v perceive_v of_o all_o nation_n near_o and_o far_o off_o so_o as_o all_o shall_v be_v compel_v to_o admire_v so_o rare_a and_o excellent_a a_o work_n it_o be_v also_o certain_a that_o the_o mede_n and_o persian_n have_v get_v dominion_n over_o the_o jew_n be_v wonderful_o abash_v in_o hear_v these_o testimony_n of_o the_o prophet_n but_o chief_o when_o they_o see_v the_o accomplishment_n and_o effect_n thereof_o perform_v before_o their_o eye_n for_o they_o may_v well_o know_v that_o exceed_a measure_n of_o faith_n for_o in_o what_o case_n be_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o kingdom_n while_o they_o be_v detain_v prisoner_n in_o a_o strange_a land_n and_o in_o a_o manner_n overwhelm_v with_o calamity_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o prophet_n call_v they_o dead_a man_n and_o worm_n jaakob_n verse_n 14._o but_o their_o heart_n be_v sustain_v by_o this_o promise_n in_o which_o arm_v with_o his_o own_o invincible_a truth_n bid_v defiance_n to_o the_o idol_n themselves_o be_v ready_a in_o person_n to_o refute_v their_o vanity_n beside_o he_o show_v that_o his_o elect_a be_v sufficient_o furnish_v with_o his_o word_n to_o get_v the_o victory_n so_o as_o they_o need_v not_o be_v afraid_a to_o undertake_v the_o combat_n against_o all_o unbeliever_n whatsoever_o and_o true_o he_o that_o have_v profit_v in_o the_o heavenly_a doctrine_n as_o he_o ought_v shall_v easy_o confound_v all_o the_o imposture_n of_o satan_n by_o a_o constant_a and_o victorious_a faith_n i_o grant_v our_o faith_n begin_v at_o obedience_n but_o the_o teachablenesse_n by_o which_o we_o submit_v all_o our_o sense_n to_o god_n worship_n go_v so_o before_o the_o understanding_n that_o from_o thence_o our_o mind_n be_v illuminate_v with_o sound_a knowledge_n by_o this_o mark_n we_o may_v discern_v superstition_n from_o that_o true_a religion_n religion_n how_o to_o discern_v superstition_n from_o true_a religion_n which_o be_v direct_v by_o a_o rule_n that_o be_v neither_o doubtful_a nor_o deceivable_a the_o idolater_n vaunt_v themselves_o but_o too_o much_o in_o their_o error_n yet_o all_o their_o pride_n proceed_v from_o folly_n sottishness_n and_o frenzy_n for_o if_o they_o will_v consider_v of_o the_o heavenly_a doctrine_n with_o calm_a and_o quiet_a mind_n all_o this_o overween_a by_o which_o they_o darken_v the_o light_n of_o truth_n will_v forthwith_o fall_v to_o the_o ground_n but_o the_o faithful_a have_v another_o respect_n who_o faith_n albeit_o it_o be_v found_v upon_o humility_n yet_o it_o be_v not_o carry_v away_o with_o a_o foolish_a or_o inconsiderate_a zeal_n because_o it_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o the_o conductor_n and_o leader_n thereof_o that_o so_o she_o may_v never_o turn_v aside_o from_o the_o certain_a light_n of_o god_n word_n therefore_o where_o the_o right_a rule_n of_o discern_a thing_n be_v absent_a superstition_n where_o the_o
