and_o superstitious_a mind_n to_o attribute_v every_o calamity_n of_o our_o brother_n to_o the_o righteous_a judgement_n and_o displeasure_n of_o god_n yet_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n it_o be_v no_o less_o a_o argument_n of_o a_o stupid_a wretchless_n soul_n to_o attribute_v those_o evil_n to_o chance_n on_o which_o there_o be_v such_o apparent_a symptom_n of_o the_o divine_a displeasure_n and_o though_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o many_o of_o those_o evil_a event_n that_o befall_v we_o do_v mere_o result_v from_o the_o establish_a course_n and_o order_n of_o necessary_a cause_n yet_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o own_v either_o a_o providence_n or_o the_o truth_n of_o scripture_n but_o must_v ready_o acknowledge_v that_o in_o this_o establish_a course_n of_o thing_n god_n very_o often_o interpose_v and_o for_o the_o reward_v of_o good_a and_o punish_v of_o bad_a man_n so_o vary_v the_o course_n of_o these_o secondary_a cause_n as_o to_o produce_v good_a and_o evil_n by_o they_o contrary_a to_o their_o natural_a series_n and_o tendency_n for_o shall_v he_o have_v limit_v himself_o to_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o resolve_v to_o keep_v thing_n on_o for_o ever_o in_o that_o if_o he_o shall_v gratify_v our_o fond_a desire_n it_o will_v be_v a_o cruel_a kindness_n to_o we_o and_o hurt_v we_o more_o than_o ever_o it_o will_v benefit_v we_o it_o will_v damp_n our_o piety_n or_o carnalize_v our_o spirit_n swell_v our_o pride_n or_o pamper_v our_o luxury_n give_v such_o a_o loose_a to_o our_o extravagant_a passion_n as_o will_v in_o the_o end_n render_v we_o far_o more_o miserable_a than_o the_o want_n of_o what_o we_o desire_v can_v do_v and_o therefore_o in_o mere_a pity_n to_o we_o instead_o of_o give_v we_o the_o good_a we_o ask_v for_o he_o sometime_o inflict_v the_o contrary_a evil_n and_o as_o physician_n sometime_o prick_v a_o vein_n in_o the_o arm_n to_o prevent_v the_o suffocation_n of_o the_o heart_n so_o god_n many_o time_n afflict_v we_o to_o preserve_v we_o disease_n our_o body_n to_o antidote_n or_o cure_n our_o soul_n so_o that_o though_o those_o evil_n which_o god_n inflict_v upon_o we_o be_v not_o always_o intend_v for_o punishment_n of_o our_o sin_n but_o sometime_o for_o preservative_n against_o it_o yet_o in_o this_o case_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o it_o be_v sin_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o it_o it_o be_v this_o that_o make_v the_o evil_a necessary_a and_o oblige_v god_n in_o mercy_n to_o inflict_v it_o upon_o we_o he_o know_v the_o sin_n will_v injure_v we_o much_o more_o than_o the_o evil_n he_o
