end_n and_o know_v not_o what_o to_o do_v nor_o what_o course_n to_o take_v for_o the_o obtain_n of_o some_o ease_n and_o then_o even_o as_o a_o dog_n that_o have_v overgorge_v his_o stomach_n will_v vomit_v up_o that_o which_o pain_v and_o trouble_v he_o so_o will_v they_o in_o like_a case_n vomit_v out_o some_o passionate_a confession_n look_v what_o come_v first_o to_o their_o mind_n and_o good_a duty_n unto_o which_o he_o be_v slack_a he_o can_v perceive_v that_o there_o be_v wrought_v in_o he_o any_o great_a love_n unto_o the_o saint_n to_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n or_o to_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n etc._n etc._n but_o he_o be_v dull_a and_o heavy_a when_o he_o be_v at_o it_o and_o as_o dead_a and_o lumpish_a when_o he_o be_v go_v from_o it_o let_v he_o search_v and_o he_o shall_v find_v that_o there_o lie_v in_o his_o heart_n some_o sin_n or_o other_o unrepented_a or_o the_o gilt_n of_o some_o duty_n unperformed_a the_o venom_n whereof_o do_v so_o poison_v his_o there_o be_v thence_o may_n we_o be_v sure_a come_v all_o our_o woe_n they_o that_o will_v not_o grieve_v for_o sin_n because_o it_o be_v sin_n shall_v be_v drive_v to_o grieve_v for_o it_o by_o many_o sore_a trouble_n and_o they_o that_o be_v insensible_a of_o it_o when_o it_o be_v commit_v shall_v be_v make_v sensible_a in_o the_o end_n by_o feel_v it_o punish_v and_o this_o be_v a_o good_a use_n that_o be_v make_v of_o the_o trouble_n of_o god_n church_n in_o the_o lamentation_n of_o jeremie_n wherefore_o say_v they_o be_v the_o live_a man_n sorrowful_a why_o do_v he_o turmoil_v and_o vex_v himself_o 3.39.40_o lamenta_fw-la 3.39.40_o man_n suffer_v for_o his_o sin_n what_o be_v the_o conclusion_n let_v we_o search_v and_o try_v our_o way_n and_o turn_v again_o unto_o the_o lord_n likely_a to_o go_v by_o the_o worst_a and_o if_o sinful_a and_o wretched_a person_n have_v never_o so_o ill_a a_o cause_n yet_o if_o they_o present_v they_o with_o great_a gift_n they_o shall_v carry_v it_o from_o all_o other_o now_o the_o prophet_n purpose_n be_v to_o bring_v these_o man_n to_o repentance_n he_o say_v seek_v judgement_n that_o be_v search_v diligent_o what_o ought_v to_o be_v do_v according_a to_o your_o place_n and_o when_o you_o know_v it_o see_v that_o that_o you_o practise_v it_o whence_o arise_v this_o point_n that_o it_o be_v a_o note_n of_o true_a repentance_n set_v they_o and_o according_o to_o do_v the_o same_o reform_v the_o special_a thing_n wherein_o they_o have_v fault_v heretofore_o this_o job_n set_v down_o as_o a_o mark_n that_o he_o be_v no_o hypocrite_n though_o his_o friend_n injurious_o charge_v he_o to_o be_v such_o a_o one_o because_o he_o be_v careful_a of_o those_o good_a duty_n that_o do_v pertain_v to_o he_o in_o his_o place_n both_o as_o he_o be_v a_o magistrate_n and_o as_o he_o be_v a_o rich_a man_n in_o both_o which_o respect_n he_o show_v all_o good_a faithfulness_n for_o as_o he_o be_v a_o magistrate_n he_o say_v i_o their_o own_o charge_n many_o be_v good_a neighbour_n abroad_o but_o bad_a gonernor_n at_o home_n they_o can_v advise_v other_o for_o the_o best_a but_o they_o have_v no_o care_n at_o all_o to_o order_v their_o own_o family_n in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n many_o husband_n be_v kind_a and_o courteous_a abroad_o but_o churlish_a and_o unmerciful_a to_o their_o yoke-fellowe_n and_o to_o their_o child_n and_o servant_n at_o home_n many_o wife_n will_v seem_v religious_a who_o yet_o be_v not_o help_n in_o their_o family_n obedient_a to_o their_o husband_n fear_v to_o offend_v they_o nor_o seek_v in_o all_o good_a and_o lawful_a thing_n to_o content_a and_o please_v they_o such_o master_n and_o husband_n and_o wife_n can_v have_v little_a comfort_n of_o their_o faithfulness_n when_o they_o fail_v most_o in_o those_o thing_n wherein_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n shall_v most_o show_v itself_o namely_o in_o discharge_v a_o good_a conscience_n where_o they_o be_v tie_v so_o to_o unto_o they_o for_o their_o profit_n and_o comfort_n for_o this_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o the_o covenant_n whereof_o the_o sacrament_n be_v a_o seal_n make_v unto_o penitent_a person_n ezek._n he_o he_o be_v the_o head_n &_o we_o the_o member_n he_o the_o vine_n and_o we_o the_o branch_n etc._n etc._n and_o further_o let_v we_o undoubted_o believe_v that_o as_o by_o bread_n &_o wine_n our_o natural_a strength_n be_v increase_v and_o our_o weary_a body_n and_o languish_a spirit_n refresh_v so_o by_o those_o heavenly_a my_o stery_n daily_o apply_v our_o inward_a man_n shall_v be_v confirm_v and_o our_o heart_n soon_o or_o late_a comfort_v and_o reviue_v and_o therefore_o in_o assurance_n of_o faith_n we_o shall_v stir_v up_o our_o soul_n to_o rejoice_v and_o praise_v the_o lord_n give_v unto_o he_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o truth_n in_o rest_v upon_o he_o for_o the_o performance_n of_o all_o his_o promise_n make_v unto_o we_o through_o christ_n jesus_n and_o conclude_v every_o one_o in_o his_o own_o heart_n though_o my_o knowledge_n be_v but_o small_a it_o shall_v be_v increase_v though_o my_o memory_n be_v weak_a it_o shall_v be_v confirm_v though_o my_o and_o feeble_a they_o shall_v be_v augment_v and_o still_o further_o strengthen_v i_o shall_v have_v christ_n power_n to_o enable_v i_o to_o do_v good_a and_o to_o resist_v evil_a his_o wisdom_n to_o direct_v i_o in_o the_o right_a way_n and_o to_o cause_v i_o to_o decline_v from_o all_o by-path_n and_o in_o a_o word_n his_o good_a spirit_n to_o work_v all_o my_o work_n for_o i_o and_o to_o perfect_v all_o heavenly_a virtue_n in_o i_o and_o when_o after_o we_o have_v be_v at_o the_o lord_n table_n we_o find_v any_o sinful_a motion_n stir_v within_o we_o let_v we_o reason_n thus_o do_v i_o not_o late_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n for_o the_o cure_n of_o my_o soul_n and_o do_v not_o god_n grant_v it_o unto_o i_o as_o a_o seal_n and_o pledge_v that_o he_o will_v take_v away_o my_o stony_a heart_n 36._o ezek._n 36._o and_o give_v unto_o i_o a_o fleshy_a heart_n why_o then_o shall_v i_o yield_v unto_o my_o corruption_n nay_o i_o will_v not_o do_v so_o but_o resist_v and_o and_o of_o fraudulent_a may_v be_v make_v true_a and_o faithful_a and_o those_o mean_n be_v the_o word_n the_o sacrament_n prayer_n and_o the_o like_a which_o be_v the_o step_n whereby_o we_o must_v ascend_v unto_o this_o honourable_a estate_n for_o it_o be_v as_o possible_a for_o man_n to_o make_v stair_n to_o climb_v up_o unto_o the_o sky_n as_o for_o we_o without_o these_o to_o ascend_v unto_o heaven_n by_o any_o device_n of_o our_o own_o frame_n the_o word_n be_v the_o key_n that_o must_v open_v hell_n gate_n to_o set_v we_o at_o liberty_n from_o the_o bond_n of_o sin_n of_o satan_n and_o of_o death_n and_o to_o unlock_v heaven_n gate_n that_o we_o may_v have_v entrance_n into_o glory_n in_o which_o respect_n it_o be_v that_o christ_n say_v unto_o peter_n that_o he_o will_v give_v unto_o he_o and_o consequent_o to_o all_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o key_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n that_o be_v the_o dispensation_n of_o the_o word_n which_o make_v the_o way_n unto_o heaven_n lie_v open_a to_o all_o such_o as_o by_o faith_n receive_v the_o same_o into_o their_o heart_n so_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o come_v unto_o the_o mean_n with_o a_o base_a conceit_n or_o light_a estimation_n thereof_o but_o with_o a_o large_a &_o ample_a desire_n and_o expectation_n of_o take_v benefit_n thereby_o if_o man_n can_v once_o espy_v a_o way_n how_o they_o may_v rise_v in_o the_o world_n either_o to_o great_a wealth_n or_o promotion_n they_o will_v be_v most_o industrious_a and_o laborious_a in_o that_o course_n they_o will_v refuse_v no_o pain_n in_o seed_n time_n though_o the_o weather_n be_v unseasonable_a and_o cold_a and_o their_o work_n every_o way_n troublesome_a but_o they_o will_v put_v themselves_o to_o it_o with_o all_o care_n and_o industry_n in_o hope_n though_o it_o be_v but_o a_o uncertain_a hope_n of_o better_v their_o estate_n so_o those_o that_o live_v by_o fair_n and_o market_n will_v nor_o fail_v one_o of_o they_o ordinary_o neither_o heat_n nor_o cold_a wind_n nor_o rain_n nor_o any_o the_o like_a impediment_n shall_v hinder_v they_o from_o pursue_v their_o commodity_n and_o why_o then_o shall_v we_o be_v negligent_a and_o play_v the_o sluggard_n while_o our_o seedes-time_n last_v &_o the_o lord_n bid_v we_o plough_v up_o the_o fallow_a ground_n of_o our_o heart_n that_o he_o may_v sow_v therein_o the_o seed_n of_o life_n which_o will_v never_o fail_v to_o yield_v we_o a_o plentiful_a harvest_n if_o we_o can_v wait_v upon_o he_o for_o the_o same_o and_o why_o shall_v we_o be_v slack_a and_o careless_a when_o our_o chief_a market_n day_n and_o fair_a day_n come_v and_o not_o rather_o set_v our_o heart_n and_o endeavour_n to_o seek_v after_o those_o thing_n which_o all_o that_o seek_v shall_v find_v and_o be_v find_v will_v make_v we_o man_n for_o ever_o this_o shall_v be_v a_o encouragement_n unto_o we_o use_v 3_o not_o to_o think_v any_o thing_n too_o much_o that_o we_o can_v do_v or_o suffer_v in_o or_o for_o the_o profession_n of_o christianity_n oh_o but_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a matter_n may_n some_o say_v to_o fast_o and_o pray_v object_n and_o mourn_v and_o grieve_v our_o heart_n continual_o for_o our_o sin_n christianity_n difficulty_n in_o christianity_n and_o when_o we_o have_v do_v all_o to_o be_v deride_v and_o malign_v persecute_v and_o slay_v for_o a_o good_a cause_n and_o beside_o all_o these_o to_o feel_v god_n hand_n scourge_v we_o sometime_o with_o poverty_n and_o want_v sometime_o with_o fear_n &_o terror_n sometime_o with_o temptation_n and_o inward_a conflict_n etc._n etc._n these_o thing_n seem_v very_o great_a and_o very_o tedious_a indeed_o answ_n to_o flesh_n and_o blood_n but_o in_o truth_n they_o be_v but_o small_a yea_o matter_n of_o nothing_o if_o we_o consider_v what_o be_v the_o use_n of_o they_o and_o what_o will_v be_v the_o end_n of_o they_o &_o therefore_o let_v we_o remember_v for_o our_o comfort_n when_o we_o be_v in_o this_o strait_a and_o difficult_a and_o unpleasant_a way_n note_v that_o we_o be_v go_v to_o be_v install_v into_o a_o kingdom_n and_o who_o be_v there_o that_o be_v offer_v a_o baronrie_n or_o a_o lordship_n yea_o though_o it_o be_v but_o a_o farm_n if_o so_o be_v he_o will_v take_v the_o pain_n to_o come_v for_o it_o who_o be_v here_o i_o say_v that_o will_v take_v exception_n and_o say_v alas_o the_o air_n be_v cloudy_a and_o the_o weather_n uncertain_a nay_o it_o begin_v to_o rain_v or_o hail_n or_o snow_n already_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v even_o stay_v at_o home_n and_o never_o wet_v my_o foot_n for_o the_o matter_n nay_o if_o there_o be_v but_o likelihood_n of_o some_o small_a gain_n &_o the_o weather_n foul_a and_o the_o way_n deep_a and_o themselves_o somewhat_o out_o of_o temper_n also_o yet_o they_o will_v adventure_v to_o go_v through_o all_o and_o rather_o ferry_v over_o than_o come_v short_a of_o that_o profit_n that_o be_v offer_v how_o much_o more_o than_o ought_v we_o to_o break_v through_o all_o impediment_n and_o swallow_v up_o all_o difficulty_n with_o the_o consideration_n of_o this_o that_o our_o journey_n tend_v not_o to_o the_o get_n of_o some_o small_a commodity_n or_o to_o the_o purchase_n of_o some_o worldly_a possession_n or_o to_o the_o obtain_n of_o any_o earthly_a pre-eminence_n or_o preferment_n whatsoever_o but_o that_o we_o be_v travel_v towards_o our_o own_o country_n where_o we_o shall_v receive_v a_o invalüable_a and_o eternal_a crown_n of_o glory_n and_o albeit_o we_o must_v pass_v through_o many_o rough_a and_o craggy_a and_o thorny_a way_n and_o meet_v with_o sundry_a thing_n that_o will_v be_v very_o irksome_a and_o unpleasant_a yet_o let_v we_o account_v withal_o that_o we_o shall_v find_v many_o sweet_a comfort_n and_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o glorious_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o pilgrimage_n and_o in_o the_o end_n shall_v have_v the_o fruition_n of_o that_o happiness_n which_o will_v make_v amends_n for_o all_o and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o make_v the_o apostle_n paul_n so_o comfortable_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o his_o suffering_n therefore_o we_o faint_v not_o say_v he_o but_o though_o our_o outward_a man_n perish_v be_v far_o more_o to_o be_v far_o most_o excellent_a be_v yet_o a_o high_a degree_n but_o when_o he_o call_v it_o a_o far_o most_o excellent_a and_o withal_o a_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n it_o make_v a_o great_a addition_n unto_o all_o the_o former_a and_o show_v that_o it_o be_v indeed_o a_o inconceiveable_a &_o unutterable_a happiness_n that_o in_o the_o heaven_n we_o shall_v enjoy_v but_o one_o the_o other_o side_n he_o count_v his_o affliction_n light_n and_o momentany_a because_o it_o pass_v as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o thought_n and_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o nothing_o be_v lay_v in_o
