the_o difference_n betwixt_o these_o two_o work_n or_o part_n of_o humiliation_n that_o we_o may_v matter_n further_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v to_o humble_v ourselves_o and_o first_o they_o differ_v in_o the_o matter_n they_o be_v conversant_a about_o in_o that_o first_o a_o man_n be_v humble_v proper_o but_o for_o the_o punishment_n a_o man_n indeed_o be_v humble_v for_o sin_n yet_o principal_o as_o it_o have_v relation_n to_o punishment_n it_o be_v guilt_n work_v on_o he_o he_o be_v not_o humble_v for_o sin_n as_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o god_n and_o his_o holiness_n but_o as_o contrary_a to_o himself_o and_o his_o own_o good_a and_o thus_o we_o be_v not_o humble_v till_o we_o come_v to_o love_n god_n and_o to_o have_v a_o light_n discover_v the_o holiness_n and_o purity_n of_o his_o nature_n which_o one_o that_o be_v save_o humble_v have_v wrought_v in_o he_o they_o differ_v in_o their_o ground_n and_o principle_n whence_o they_o arise_v ground_n the_o first_o arise_v but_o from_o self-love_n and_o be_v but_o a_o work_n of_o nature_n though_o thus_o far_o a_o work_n of_o god_n to_o stir_v up_o self-love_n by_o the_o sense_n of_o misery_n and_o to_o awaken_v it_o but_o so_o as_o any_o unreasonable_a creature_n if_o in_o danger_n use_v to_o be_v sensible_a of_o it_o and_o what_o wonder_n then_o be_v it_o for_o a_o man_n when_o he_o begin_v to_o have_v some_o sense_n of_o hell_n and_o death_n let_v into_o his_o conscience_n to_o be_v wound_v and_o apprehensive_a of_o it_o but_o the_o other_o arise_v from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n kindle_v in_o the_o heart_n by_o hope_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n they_o differ_v in_o the_o instrumental_a cause_n that_o work_v they_o the_o one_o be_v wrought_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n cause_n by_o a_o enlighten_v mere_o to_o see_v his_o bondage_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v as_o one_o that_o be_v in_o bondage_n fear_v god_n as_o a_o master_n and_o he_o have_v no_o further_a light_n than_o thus_o to_o see_v god_n as_o a_o judge_n but_o this_o other_o be_v wrought_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n make_v the_o gospel_n also_o effectual_a discover_v god_n as_o a_o father_n they_o differ_v in_o of_o a_o more_o spiritual_a conviction_n of_o judgement_n of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n though_o less_o passion_n accompany_v it_o yet_o a_o strong_a and_o deep_a affection_n of_o sorrow_n be_v that_o if_o he_o have_v not_o his_o pardon_n he_o shall_v lose_v his_o life_n but_o have_v his_o pardon_n present_o after_o the_o sentence_n pass_v he_o will_v prize_v his_o pardon_n as_o much_o as_o who_o therefore_o be_v enlighten_v to_o know_v their_o estate_n all_o on_o the_o sudden_a whereas_o a_o other_o have_v be_v bring_v up_o in_o knowledge_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o his_o misery_n be_v let_v in_o by_o degree_n than_o the_o case_n do_v also_o differ_v as_o between_o two_o man_n who_o be_v to_o go_v through_o a_o wood_n whereof_o one_o be_v simile_n set_v upon_o by_o thief_n not_o suspect_v any_o and_o be_v put_v into_o a_o fear_n of_o his_o life_n and_o know_v not_o how_o to_o escape_v but_o one_o come_v on_o the_o sudden_a and_o rescue_v he_o and_o give_v he_o his_o vanish_v and_o what_o be_v substantial_a will_v hold_v so_o that_o even_o they_o in_o the_o end_n come_v to_o this_o solid_a conviction_n of_o judgement_n at_o last_o which_o only_o be_v constant_a and_o eternal_a death_n the_o conversion_n be_v not_o right_a till_o then_o and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o all_o other_o motive_n may_v be_v over_o balance_v but_o the_o motive_n of_o life_n and_o death_n can_v be_v over_o top_v by_o any_o thing_n if_o preferment_n be_v offer_v or_o what_o ever_o the_o world_n can_v offer_v but_o these_o exceed_v all_o that_o satan_n or_o the_o world_n or_o the_o flesh_n can_v suggest_v therefore_o a_o man_n be_v then_o turn_v when_o the_o lord_n shall_v enlarge_v his_o thought_n to_o see_v the_o greatness_n and_o the_o vastness_n of_o these_o two_o
