those_o judgement_n and_o the_o procurement_n of_o his_o mercy_n upon_o the_o land_n when_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o land_n cry_v aloud_o for_o judgement_n the_o saint_n of_o god_n have_v need_v to_o cry_v aloud_o for_o mercy_n the_o prayer_n of_o faith_n be_v the_o most_o effectual_a mean_n by_o god_n own_o appointment_n for_o the_o removal_n of_o evil_n feel_v the_o prevention_n of_o evil_n fear_v and_o the_o procurement_n of_o good_a thing_n desire_v there_o be_v not_o therefore_o a_o more_o sad_a symptom_n of_o the_o approach_n of_o some_o dreadful_a judgement_n than_o the_o restraint_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n thus_o when_o israel_n have_v fearful_o provoke_v god_n by_o customary_a commission_n of_o gross_a sin_n after_o glorious_a deliverance_n as_o theft_n murder_n adultery_n perjury_n idolatry_n and_o have_v extreme_o aggravate_v these_o sin_n by_o pretence_n of_o religion_n and_o godliness_n for_o they_o will_v come_v and_o stand_v before_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o house_n as_o if_o they_o shall_v say_v we_o be_v deliver_v to_o do_v all_o these_o abomination_n as_o the_o lord_n have_v testify_v against_o they_o by_o his_o prophet_n 10_o prophet_n jer._n 7.9_o 10_o and_o when_o thereupon_o god_n purpose_v to_o cast_v they_o off_o for_o their_o sin_n he_o forbid_v his_o prophet_n to_o pray_v for_o they_o for_o say_v a_o offend_a god_n can_v inflict_v a_o deserve_a punishment_n upon_o a_o provoke_a people_n and_o therefore_o when_o the_o israelite_n have_v make_v they_o a_o molten_n calf_n and_o worship_v it_o and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v kindle_v against_o they_o to_o destroy_v they_o moses_n by_o his_o prayer_n prevent_v their_o destruction_n and_o therefore_o do_v the_o lord_n speak_v thus_o to_o moses_n 14_o moses_n exod._n 32.9_o 10._o with_o deut._n 9.13_o 14_o i_o have_v see_v this_o people_n and_o behold_v it_o be_v a_o stiff-necked_a people_n now_o therefore_o let_v i_o alone_o that_o my_o wrath_n may_v wax_v hot_a against_o they_o and_o that_o i_o may_v consume_v they_o and_o blot_v out_o their_o name_n from_o under_o heaven_n and_o i_o will_v make_v of_o thou_o a_o great_a sinful_a nation_n before_o the_o lord_n proceed_v to_o execute_v the_o fierceness_n of_o his_o wrath_n upon_o it_o o_o stir_v up_o yourselves_o to_o wrestle_v with_o god_n in_o his_o own_o strength_n and_o resolve_v not_o to_o let_v he_o go_v till_o he_o bless_v the_o land_n o_o pray_v pray_o pray_v without_o cease_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v turn_v away_o his_o anger_n from_o we_o and_o after_o all_o our_o shake_v and_o division_n settle_v peace_n and_o truth_n
