that_o he_o have_v a_o most_o supreme_a and_o absolute_a dominion_n how_o can_v that_o which_o receive_v his_o be_v his_o subsistence_n his_o rule_n of_o justice_n from_o the_o first_o be_v prescribe_v a_o rule_n to_o he_o by_o who_o it_o be_v or_o exact_v the_o performance_n of_o it_o so_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v the_o rule_n of_o justice_n to_o he_o but_o his_o own_o will_n and_o therefore_o what_o he_o will_v can_v be_v but_o just_a because_o he_o will_v it_o and_o as_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o he_o to_o act_v but_o what_o he_o will_v so_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o he_o to_o will_n but_o what_o be_v just_o because_o his_o will_n be_v the_o only_a rule_n of_o his_o justice_n and_o though_o ex_fw-la natura_fw-la rei_fw-la he_o may_v have_v will_v what_o he_o do_v not_o will_n yet_o that_o which_o he_o have_v so_o will_v have_v be_v just_a yet_o de_fw-la facto_fw-la the_o act_n of_o his_o will_n be_v eternal_a and_o immutable_a it_o be_v impossible_a any_o unjust_a thing_n shall_v be_v do_v by_o he_o because_o impossible_a he_o shall_v do_v contrary_a to_o his_o own_o will_n which_o be_v the_o only_a measure_n and_o rule_v of_o justice_n and_o from_o this_o we_o may_v clear_o evidence_n 1._o that_o there_o be_v a_o most_o absolute_a unlimited_a dominion_n and_o power_n in_o the_o first_o cause_n over_o its_o effect_n and_o he_o be_v bind_v unto_o it_o by_o no_o other_o obligation_n but_o his_o own_o will_n which_o though_o it_o do_v manifest_v itself_o in_o all_o mercy_n and_o tenderness_n and_o goodness_n and_o wisdom_n towards_o it_o yet_o it_o be_v only_o because_o it_o be_v his_o good_a will_v so_o to_o do_v 2._o that_o therefore_o whatsoever_o rule_n or_o law_n the_o first_o cause_n do_v prescribe_v to_o his_o creature_n that_o be_v capable_a of_o a_o law_n it_o ought_v unquestionable_o to_o be_v submit_v unto_o for_o what_o soever_o he_o will_v must_v needs_o be_v just_a inasmuch_o as_o there_o be_v no_o measure_n of_o justice_n or_o injustice_n but_o his_o will_n although_o we_o be_v not_o to_o look_v upon_o any_o thing_n require_v by_o the_o first_o cause_n but_o flow_v from_o a_o most_o wise_a as_o well_o as_o a_o most_o absolute_a will_n and_o so_o hold_v a_o proportion_n with_o the_o ability_n of_o that_o creature_n from_o who_o it_o be_v require_v 3._o from_o hence_o we_o find_v where_o be_v the_o original_a of_o all_o justice_n in_o the_o world_n it_o must_v all_o be_v resolve_v into_o that_o will_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n and_o that_o in_o a_o double_a respect_n 1._o in_o respect_n of_o conformity_n for_o be_v there_o no_o precise_a law_n give_v to_o rational_a creature_n it_o be_v true_a there_o can_v be_v no_o obligation_n yet_o a_o conformity_n in_o the_o action_n of_o rational_a creature_n to_o the_o similar_v action_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n towards_o his_o creature_n will_v be_v comely_a and_o just_a in_o a_o rational_a creature_n and_o questionless_a as_o the_o irrational_a creature_n have_v certain_a instinct_n plant_v in_o they_o by_o their_o first_o creation_n which_o though_o they_o be_v not_o proper_o law_n but_o inclination_n to_o man_n as_o he_o come_v out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o his_o maker_n with_o the_o impression_n of_o his_o image_n upon_o he_o have_v some_o conformity_n to_o the_o supreme_a justice_n without_o any_o reference_n to_o any_o command_n which_o be_v not_o clean_o lose_v but_o even_o in_o man_n without_o education_n do_v strange_o manifest_v itself_o in_o divers_a particular_n 2_o in_o respect_n of_o obligation_n for_o there_o can_v be_v nothing_o imaginable_o unjust_a without_o these_o two_o consideration_n viz._n 1._o a_o law_n command_v or_o forbid_v a_o thing_n under_o a_o pain_n whatsoever_o fall_v not_o within_o the_o command_n or_o prohibition_n be_v permit_v and_o can_v be_v unjust_a 2._o a_o power_n to_o exact_v a_o obedience_n to_o that_o law_n and_o to_o inflict_v the_o punishment_n that_o follow_v upon_o the_o breach_n of_o this_o law._n otherwise_o the_o law_n be_v ridiculous_a and_o vain_a now_o as_o to_o the_o first_o without_o all_o question_n the_o first_o cause_n in_o the_o first_o creation_n of_o reasonable_a creature_n do_v by_o what_o way_n we_o know_v not_o give_v he_o a_o law_n whereby_o he_o shall_v live_v and_o which_o he_o traduce_v to_o his_o posterity_n as_o the_o command_v of_o the_o first_o cause_n though_o in_o succession_n of_o time_n those_o grow_v weak_a and_o corrupt_a every_o day_n than_o other_o these_o be_v those_o jura_n naturalia_fw-la tract_n which_o have_v a_o influence_n into_o all_o the_o law_n of_o man_n as_o to_z worship_n god_n to_o keep_v our_o promise_n etc._n etc._n and_o when_o we_o come_v so_o far_o as_o to_o be_v persuade_v that_o they_o be_v the_o law_n of_o god_n than_o it_o bind_v in_o a_o fear_n to_o offend_v because_o thereby_o we_o become_v liable_a to_o punishment_n which_o we_o be_v sure_o he_o have_v power_n and_o right_o to_o inflict_v his_o power_n be_v universal_a and_o unavoidable_a and_o his_o right_n and_o dominion_n over_o his_o creature_n absolute_a and_o uncontrollable_a thus_o we_o find_v a_o plain_a obligation_n in_o those_o law_n that_o be_v give_v by_o the_o first_o cause_n and_o consequent_o admit_v such_o a_o law_n we_o have_v a_o clear_a rule_n whereby_o to_o measure_v what_o be_v just_a and_o what_o be_v unjust_a and_o when_o i_o can_v resolve_v any_o thing_n into_o the_o command_n or_o prohibition_n of_o this_o law_n i_o find_v myself_o bind_v in_o conscience_n viz._n under_o pain_n of_o gild_n to_o obey_v if_o i_o can_v procure_v a_o power_n to_o overmatch_v they_o their_o obedience_n to_o their_o own_o law_n be_v injustice_n the_o promise_n and_o agreement_n to_o submit_v to_o that_o law_n so_o make_v but_o what_o be_v that_o that_o bind_v i_o to_o keep_v my_o promise_n if_o nothing_o bind_v i_o to_o it_o then_o be_v not_o my_o disobedience_n any_o unjustice_n for_o the_o obligation_n of_o the_o whereby_o we_o be_v bind_v and_o whereunto_o all_o humane_a justice_n be_v to_o be_v resolve_v both_o in_o point_n of_o conformity_n as_o to_o its_o pattern_n and_o obligation_n as_o to_o its_o law._n but_o how_o these_o law_n be_v at_o first_o give_v to_o man_n whether_o by_o a_o formal_a command_n or_o whether_o by_o a_o immediate_a impression_n in_o the_o understanding_n and_o will_n or_o whether_o by_o a_o implant_v propension_n or_o inclination_n in_o the_o will_n or_o partly_o by_o one_o partly_o by_o another_o it_o be_v not_o easy_a to_o determine_v sed_fw-la vide_fw-la infra_fw-la but_o what_o ever_o way_n it_o be_v it_o be_v impossible_a to_o have_v any_o notion_n or_o imagination_n of_o just_a or_o unjust_a among_o man_n without_o resolve_v it_o in_o its_o original_n into_o the_o rule_n or_o law_n that_o be_v give_v to_o man_n by_o the_o first_o cause_n of_o our_o be_v 9_o from_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n and_o of_o the_o premise_n it_o must_v needs_o follow_v that_o he_o be_v immutable_a for_o mutability_n be_v inconsistent_a 1._o with_o his_o perfection_n it_o be_v impossible_a that_o a_o pure_a act_n can_v have_v any_o change_n for_o all_o change_n do_v necessary_o infer_v passibility_n and_o receptibility_n of_o what_o it_o have_v not_o before_o and_o to_o suppose_v that_o be_v to_o conclude_v he_o be_v not_o actus_fw-la change_n which_o do_v of_o necessity_n import_v succession_n which_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o eternity_n for_o whatsoever_o be_v eternal_a have_v no_o succession_n and_o consequent_o whatsoever_o be_v affirm_v of_o it_o at_o one_o instant_n must_v necessary_o be_v affirm_v of_o it_o eternal_o this_o can_v stand_v with_o any_o change_n for_o before_o that_o change_n that_o can_v not_o be_v affirm_v of_o he_o which_o may_v be_v affirm_v after_o if_o it_o shall_v be_v admit_v 3._o it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o simplicity_n some_o thing_n have_v accidental_a change_n which_o yet_o in_o essence_n continue_v the_o same_o as_o from_o ignorance_n to_o knowledge_n from_o one_o colour_n to_o another_o but_o such_o accidental_a change_n can_v be_v in_o that_o which_o be_v ens_fw-la simplicissimum_fw-la because_o there_o can_v be_v nothing_o in_o he_o which_o be_v not_o his_o essence_n 4._o it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o infinitude_n for_o to_o whatsoever_o any_o thing_n can_v be_v add_v that_o it_o have_v not_o before_o that_o can_v be_v infinite_a because_o still_o capable_a of_o a_o far_a accession_n and_o as_o this_o immutability_n be_v affirm_v of_o the_o first_o cause_n in_o point_n of_o his_o essence_n and_o nature_n so_o in_o some_o respect_n it_o be_v concern_v his_o acts._n these_o be_v of_o two_o kind_n viz._n the_o immanent_a act_n such_o be_v the_o act_n of_o his_o understanding_n and_o will_n and_o these_o be_v immutable_a as_o well_o as_o his_o essence_n for_o indeed_o they_o be_v but_o notional_o divide_v from_o it_o in_o we_o our_o will_n be_v one_o thing_n and_o our_o will_v another_o but_o that_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o the_o simplicity_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o as_o his_o essence_n so_o his_o will_n be_v immutable_a he_o will_v nothing_o now_o but_o what_o he_o ever_o will_v and_o understand_v from_o eternity_n what_o he_o now_o know_v for_o eternity_n have_v neither_o now_o nor_o then_o in_o it_o 2._o the_o emanant_fw-la act_n those_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o execution_n of_o that_o immutable_a will_n these_o be_v subject_a to_o mutation_n but_o without_o the_o least_o mutation_n either_o in_o the_o essence_n or_o will_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n 1._o not_o in_o his_o essence_n it_o be_v true_a here_o be_v a_o new_a relation_n that_o be_v not_o before_o for_o when_o the_o first_o be_v produce_v a_o effect_n it_o be_v true_a the_o relation_n of_o a_o cause_n and_o a_o effect_n be_v now_o produce_v which_o be_v not_o before_o and_o so_o when_o more_o effect_n be_v produce_v the_o relation_n be_v multiply_v but_o relation_n breed_v no_o change_n at_o all_o in_o the_o subject_n concern_v who_o they_o be_v affirm_v the_o be_v be_v the_o same_o before_o it_o put_v forth_o itself_o in_o a_o causation_n as_o it_o be_v before_o it_o do_v of_o necessity_n import_v a_o change_n in_o the_o thing_n effect_v viz._n a_o motion_n à _fw-la non_fw-la esse_fw-la simpliciter_fw-la or_o à _fw-la non_fw-la esse_fw-la tale_n but_o not_o in_o the_o cause_n which_o have_v a_o absolute_a be_v before_o though_o not_o actual_o as_o a_o cause_n before_o 2._o not_o in_o his_o will._n it_o be_v true_a when_o any_o effect_n be_v produce_v that_o be_v not_o before_o here_o be_v a_o execution_n of_o what_o be_v not_o before_o but_o the_o will_n of_o that_o to_o be_v then_o be_v from_o all_o eternity_n again_o when_o a_o be_v be_v either_o change_v or_o annihilate_v that_o be_v not_o by_o a_o change_n of_o the_o will_n in_o the_o first_o cause_n but_o only_o in_o the_o term_n or_o execution_n of_o that_o will_n for_o by_o the_o same_o indivisible_a and_o eternal_a act_n of_o his_o will_n he_o will_v this_o or_o that_o to_o be_v make_v and_o after_o to_o be_v annihilate_v in_o time_n the_o change_n be_v in_o the_o terminus_fw-la or_o execution_n of_o his_o will_n not_o in_o the_o will_n or_o the_o immanent_a act_n of_o it_o but_o how_o can_v we_o then_o conceive_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v one_o immutable_a act_n of_o his_o will_n when_o a_o thing_n be_v past_a how_o can_v he_o be_v say_v to_o will_n that_o which_o be_v already_o execute_v and_o pass_v it_o for_o which_o we_o must_v return_v to_o what_o have_v be_v say_v viz._n that_o past_a and_o to_o come_v be_v but_o the_o measure_n of_o successive_a motion_n and_o therefore_o though_o they_o be_v applicable_a to_o they_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o applicable_a to_o a_o indivisible_a be_v or_o act_n the_o measure_n of_o successive_a motion_n do_v not_o fit_a eternity_n which_o though_o it_o be_v a_o duration_n that_o consist_v with_o the_o successive_a motion_n and_o duration_n of_o the_o creature_n yet_o it_o hold_v no_o proportion_n with_o it_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o heaven_n though_o 10000_o time_n swift_a than_o the_o motion_n of_o a_o tortoise_n have_v yet_o a_o proportion_n one_o to_o another_o because_o both_o successive_a and_o so_o time_n measure_v both_o but_o the_o duration_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n be_v the_o duration_n of_o a_o indivisible_a be_v and_o consequent_o hold_v not_o proportion_n with_o succession_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o it_o be_v but_o our_o gross_a conception_n that_o do_v imagine_v any_o part_n of_o eternity_n past_a or_o any_o part_n to_o come_v or_o that_o time_n do_v divide_v the_o fore_a part_n of_o eternity_n from_o the_o future_a part_n of_o eternity_n it_o be_v a_o indivisible_a permanent_a duration_n nothing_o past_a nothing_o future_a but_o the_o same_o fix_a instant_n consequent_o the_o act_n of_o the_o divine_a will_n always_o one_o always_o present_a this_o knowledge_n be_v too_o wonderful_a for_o i_o chap._n ii_o of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n of_o creation_n and_o providence_n thus_o far_o have_v we_o proceed_v in_o those_o inquiry_n which_o rectify_v reason_n suggest_v to_o we_o concern_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n now_o we_o consider_v the_o emanant_fw-la act_n of_o his_o will_n and_o power_n upon_o thing_n without_o he_o for_o from_o this_o consideration_n that_o he_o be_v the_o first_o be_v it_o likewise_o follow_v that_o all_o thing_n beside_o he_o must_v needs_o have_v their_o be_v and_o subsistence_n from_o he_o this_o fall_v into_o these_o two_o conclusion_n 1._o that_o all_o thing_n beside_o himself_o have_v their_o be_v from_o he_o 2._o that_o all_o thing_n be_v direct_v and_o govern_v unto_o their_o several_a end_n by_o he_o touch_v the_o former_a viz._n that_o all_o thing_n beside_o he_o have_v their_o original_n be_v from_o he_o that_o be_v a_o necessary_a consequent_a of_o the_o admission_n of_o a_o first_o be_v for_o whatsoever_o be_v not_o first_o there_o be_v a_o time_n when_o it_o be_v not_o for_o otherwise_o it_o must_v be_v eternal_a the_o contrary_a whereof_o be_v before_o evidence_v that_o than_o which_o once_o be_v not_o and_o now_o be_v and_o consequent_o have_v a_o beginning_n of_o its_o be_v can_v not_o have_v it_o from_o itself_o for_o nothing_o have_v a_o power_n or_o activity_n of_o itself_o to_o produce_v any_o thing_n therefore_o that_o second_o be_v must_v needs_o
compass_v they_o yet_o a_o wise_a statesman_n according_a to_o the_o convenience_n or_o exigence_n of_o the_o public_a can_v manage_v and_o order_v this_o ambition_n and_o the_o satisfaction_n thereof_o unto_o a_o high_a end_n which_o the_o other_o never_o so_o much_o as_o dream_v of_o as_o we_o therefore_o divide_v all_o being_n and_o cause_n into_o first_o and_o second_o so_o we_o distinguish_v all_o end_n into_o the_o end_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n and_o of_o second_o cause_n touch_v the_o end_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n we_o say_v it_o be_v twofold_a 1._o that_o which_o be_v the_o end_n in_o respect_n of_o himself_o this_o be_v nothing_o but_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o his_o own_o will._n as_o we_o must_v resolve_v the_o be_v of_o all_o thing_n into_o the_o will_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n in_o point_n of_o efficiency_n so_o in_o this_o respect_n we_o must_v resolve_v all_o thing_n into_o that_o same_o will_n in_o point_n of_o finality_n and_o this_o be_v the_o most_o adequate_a and_o ultimate_a resolution_n of_o all_o thing_n they_o be_v because_o he_o will_v they_o to_o be_v for_o the_o first_o cause_n be_v absolute_o and_o infinite_o perfect_a and_o good_a can_v original_o be_v move_v by_o any_o thing_n without_o he_o that_o will_v import_v a_o passibility_n viz._n to_o be_v move_v and_o impulse_v to_o any_o thing_n by_o any_o thing_n without_o he_o and_o a_o imperfection_n which_o may_v be_v supply_v by_o the_o acquisition_n of_o that_o end_n for_o which_o he_o work_v both_o these_o be_v necessary_o to_o be_v admit_v in_o any_o case_n where_o any_o end_n extrinsical_a to_o the_o efficient_a itself_o be_v admit_v for_o 1._o the_o end_n have_v a_o impulsion_n or_o action_n upon_o the_o efficient_a and_o 2._o it_o necessary_o suppose_v a_o vacuity_n or_o emptiness_n quoad_fw-la hoc_fw-la which_o shall_v be_v supply_v with_o that_o end_v acquire_v be_v it_o a_o end_n of_o supplement_n or_o delight_n neither_o of_o these_o be_v possible_o to_o be_v admit_v in_o the_o first_o who_o be_v a_o infinite_a good_a commensurate_n to_o the_o infinite_a measure_n of_o his_o own_o will._n the_o final_a cause_n then_o of_o all_o thing_n be_v he_o will_v because_o he_o will_v his_o glory_n be_v a_o consequence_n of_o his_o work_n in_o the_o work_n not_o the_o ultimate_a end_n of_o his_o work_n because_o nothing_o that_o he_o make_v can_v contribute_v aught_o to_o his_o glory_n or_o happiness_n 2._o in_o respect_n of_o the_o thing_n produce_v the_o ordination_n of_o every_o particular_a thing_n to_o its_o particular_a end_n either_o in_o order_n to_o itself_o or_o to_o some_o thing_n else_o or_o both_o the_o intermediate_n end_v of_o all_o thing_n be_v different_a according_a to_o their_o several_a nature_n and_o the_o several_a dispensation_n of_o the_o divine_a will._n that_o this_o may_v be_v so_o be_v evident_a upon_o the_o consideration_n of_o that_o infiniteness_n of_o wisdom_n power_n and_o presence_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n which_o before_o be_v consider_v and_o that_o it_o must_v be_v so_o be_v likewise_o evident_a upon_o the_o consideration_n before_o express_v viz._n that_o the_o will_n of_o the_o first_o cause_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o being_n and_o operation_n in_o the_o world_n nothing_o can_v be_v unless_o he_o will_v it_o to_o be_v and_o this_o will_n must_v needs_o be_v extend_v to_o every_o individual_a thing_n and_o motion_n in_o the_o world_n for_o as_o well_o as_o any_o may_v evade_v the_o determination_n of_o his_o will_n all_o thing_n may_v there_o be_v three_o degree_n of_o thing_n natural_a contingent_a and_o voluntary_a now_o the_o mean_n of_o carry_v thing_n mere_o natural_a to_o their_o several_a end_n ordinary_o be_v that_o rule_n and_o order_n which_o for_o a_o age_n yet_o if_o under_o all_o this_o the_o soul_n can_v look_v upon_o these_o misery_n as_o such_o as_o must_v end_v and_o see_v though_o at_o a_o distance_n a_o fruition_n of_o a_o when_o in_o stead_n of_o move_v to_o this_o end_n he_o rest_v in_o the_o mean_n than_o he_o move_v inordinate_o and_o out_o of_o the_o way_n to_o that_o temporal_a happiness_n the_o support_n of_o the_o body_n as_o when_o he_o eat_v and_o drink_v to_o excess_n the_o like_a for_o all_o other_o outward_a matter_n as_o honour_n riches_n woman_n etc._n etc._n when_o they_o be_v not_o enjoy_v to_o those_o end_n for_o which_o they_o be_v ordain_v then_o be_v the_o man_n out_o of_o that_o way_n to_o the_o temporal_a happiness_n of_o the_o compositum_fw-la viz._n the_o due_a support_n and_o subsistence_n of_o it_o 2._o that_o the_o felicity_n of_o the_o soul_n may_v consist_v with_o this_o felicity_n of_o the_o compositum_fw-la ex_fw-la natura_fw-la rei_fw-la the_o reason_n à _fw-fr disorderly_a passage_n in_o the_o world_n to_o most_o admirable_a and_o fix_a ends._n this_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n wherein_o the_o wisdom_n of_o this_o counsel_n of_o god_n be_v see_v in_o chain_a all_o thing_n one_o to_o another_o by_o the_o very_a same_o purpose_n whereby_o he_o determine_v the_o end._n 2._o that_o in_o the_o dispose_n of_o mean_n and_o end_n every_o thing_n notwithstanding_o move_v according_a to_o that_o law_n that_o he_o have_v give_v to_o its_o particular_a be_v we_o usual_o distinguish_v the_o action_n or_o success_n of_o thing_n within_o our_o observation_n into_o three_o rank_n or_o range_v viz._n necessary_a voluntary_a contingent_a 1._o necessary_a effect_n be_v such_o as_o their_o cause_n be_v admit_v have_v a_o necessary_a conjunction_n therewith_o or_o consequence_n thereupon_o according_a to_o the_o usual_a course_n of_o nature_n such_o be_v the_o consequence_n that_o rise_v upon_o the_o motion_n of_o the_o heaven_n as_o the_o position_n of_o the_o planet_n the_o consequent_n that_o arise_v upon_o the_o contiguity_n or_o conjunction_n of_o the_o element_n and_o divers_a such_o thing_n that_o hold_v a_o constant_a course_n in_o nature_n these_o although_o the_o great_a god_n may_v and_o sometime_o do_v interrupt_v by_o the_o extraordinary_a act_n of_o his_o power_n and_o to_o show_v his_o freedom_n yet_o most_o admirable_o he_o do_v not_o hinder_v but_o use_v they_o to_o the_o production_n of_o his_o own_o most_o sure_a counsel_n and_o this_o evidence_v the_o infinite_a wisdom_n of_o the_o great_a god_n that_o have_v so_o admirable_o frame_v his_o work_n and_o his_o counsel_n that_o while_o the_o former_a move_v uniform_o according_a to_o that_o prescript_n rule_n and_o law_n which_o the_o god_n of_o nature_n have_v put_v into_o they_o yet_o the_o latter_a shall_v not_o be_v interrupt_v but_o effect_v by_o they_o though_o they_o know_v it_o not_o nor_o mean_v it_o not_o as_o when_o we_o see_v in_o a_o curious_a watch_n the_o uniform_a motion_n of_o the_o spring_n serve_v to_o produce_v several_a artificial_a motion_n as_o of_o the_o hour_n of_o the_o day_n the_o day_n of_o the_o month_n the_o age_n of_o the_o moon_n and_o the_o like_a we_o commend_v the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o artist_n that_o have_v so_o temper_v the_o spring_n that_o by_o one_o uniform_a motion_n it_o may_v be_v useful_a for_o all_o these_o and_o have_v likewise_o so_o direct_v and_o manage_v this_o natural_a motion_n of_o the_o spring_n to_o serve_v exact_o those_o different_a intellectual_a motion_n and_o do_v conclude_v that_o the_o contrivance_n of_o this_o piece_n of_o work_n be_v all_o at_o one_o time_n otherwise_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o every_o part_n shall_v hold_v that_o order_n so_o when_o we_o see_v the_o natural_a â—_z of_o the_o creature_n conduce_v to_o the_o production_n of_o those_o rational_a end_n which_o god_n have_v appoint_v we_o may_v just_o admire_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n that_o while_o he_o intend_v a_o purpose_n above_o the_o conception_n or_o drift_n of_o a_o natural_a agent_n he_o bring_v it_o about_o without_o the_o violation_n of_o the_o rule_n or_o law_n which_o he_o have_v appoint_v to_o be_v constant_a in_o nature_n and_o may_v most_o just_o conclude_v that_o the_o law_n of_o necessity_n in_o the_o natural_a agent_n be_v but_o the_o effect_n of_o that_o â—â—ry_v counsel_n that_o have_v predetermine_v his_o own_o purpose_n by_o they_o and_o that_o they_o be_v all_o of_o a_o piece_n all_o lay_v at_o the_o same_o time_n and_o from_o thence_o grow_v the_o subservience_n of_o the_o natural_a agent_n in_o the_o most_o rigid_a law_n and_o rule_n of_o his_o operation_n unto_o the_o free_a counsel_n of_o the_o great_a god_n that_o do_v most_o sweet_o and_o infallible_o â—ffect_v the_o latter_a without_o the_o violation_n of_o that_o rule_n which_o he_o have_v give_v to_o the_o former_a and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o those_o effect_n which_o be_v produce_v natural_o by_o natural_a cause_n we_o do_v and_o may_v call_v natural_a and_o necessary_a and_o yet_o it_o exclude_v not_o the_o counsel_n of_o the_o divine_a will_n in_o the_o production_n of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v the_o same_o counsel_n that_o have_v make_v this_o necessary_a connexion_n between_o the_o cause_n and_o the_o effect_n that_o do_v predetermine_v the_o effect_n to_o be_v produce_v here_o then_o be_v conspicuous_a the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n that_o while_o his_o creature_n in_o who_o he_o have_v place_v a_o uniform_a course_n of_o work_v fulfil_v his_o will_n yet_o they_o keep_v their_o law_n of_o unformity_n and_o necessity_n 2._o voluntary_a and_o this_o be_v admirable_a that_o while_o voluntary_a agent_n do_v most_o necessary_o fulfil_v the_o counsel_n of_o god_n yet_o they_o do_v it_o without_o the_o least_o diminution_n of_o their_o freedom_n the_o jew_n do_v most_o free_o crucify_v christ_n yet_o it_o be_v by_o the_o predeterminate_a counsel_n of_o god_n pharaoh_n do_v most_o free_o refuse_v to_o let_v israel_n go_v yet_o almighty_a god_n tell_v he_o for_o this_o purpose_n have_v he_o raise_v he_o up_o to_o show_v his_o power_n upon_o he_o exod._n 9.16_o and_o from_o hence_o we_o may_v observe_v the_o reason_n why_o almighty_a god_n in_o all_o time_n have_v use_v rational_a way_n for_o the_o reduce_n of_o man_n to_o the_o obedience_n of_o his_o will_n not_o but_o that_o he_o can_v if_o he_o please_v force_v the_o will_n of_o all_o mankind_n to_o what_o disposition_n or_o action_n

law_n shall_v be_v judge_v by_o the_o law_n there_o be_v light_n enough_o or_o neglect_n enough_o in_o the_o most_o ignorant_a soul_n in_o the_o world_n to_o charge_v with_o gild_n enough_o for_o condemnation_n though_o he_o never_o know_v of_o the_o law_n promulgate_v to_o the_o jew_n or_o be_v bind_v by_o it_o as_o we_o there_o find_v the_o division_n of_o condemn_a person_n unto_o such_o as_o sin_n without_o the_o law_n and_o under_o the_o law_n so_o we_o find_v another_o division_n 2_o thes_n 1.8_o take_v vengeance_n on_o they_o that_o know_v not_o god_n and_o obey_v not_o the_o gospel_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n this_o seem_v to_o contain_v these_o two_o rule_n whereby_o the_o gentile_n shall_v be_v judge_v 1._o ignorance_n and_o want_n of_o fear_n of_o god_n for_o such_o to_o who_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o preach_v this_o be_v unexcusable_a ignorance_n and_o disobedience_n rom._n 1.20_o 2._o unbelief_n and_o disobedience_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n and_o though_o this_o be_v a_o high_a truth_n that_o be_v not_o discover_v by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n yet_o be_v discover_v it_o be_v a_o offence_n even_o against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n aversion_n from_o the_o great_a good_n must_v needs_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n even_o by_o the_o rule_n of_o sound_a reason_n both_o these_o we_o find_v plain_o set_v down_o john_n 3.36_o he_o that_o redemption_n john_n 3.17_o john_n 12.47_o 1_o john_n 2.2_o 1_o tim._n 2.6_o 1_o tim._n 2.4_o 1_o cor._n 15.21_o it_o may_v be_v considerable_a whether_o the_o intention_n of_o those_o place_n be_v that_o the_o price_n be_v sufficient_a for_o all_o the_o world_n so_o that_o whosoever_o shall_v reject_v the_o offer_a mercy_n shall_v never_o have_v this_o excuse_n that_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sufficiency_n leave_v for_o he_o or_o whether_o it_o be_v mean_v that_o christ_n by_o his_o death_n do_v full_o expiate_v for_o all_o that_o original_a gild_n which_o be_v contract_v by_o the_o fall_n the_o heart_n be_v apt_a to_o magnify_v those_o argument_n that_o conduce_v to_o the_o execution_n of_o that_o which_o suit_v with_o thy_o sinful_a appetite_n and_o to_o lessen_v and_o slight_v those_o that_o make_v against_o it_o so_o that_o in_o a_o decision_n of_o indifferency_n in_o such_o a_o competition_n a_o man_n may_v in_o a_o more_o impartial_a judgement_n conclude_v the_o thing_n to_o be_v therefore_o not_o indifferent_a but_o sinful_a because_o thy_o sinful_a heart_n can_v but_o bring_v up_o what_o she_o love_v but_o to_o a_o equal_a balance_n thou_o must_v therefore_o in_o
