envy_n hatred_n variance_n wrath_n and_o strife_n and_o though_o these_o be_v different_a name_n yet_o may_v be_v all_o sum_v up_o in_o one_o great_a evil_n express_v by_o the_o word_n enmity_n or_o prejudice_n and_o these_o four_o be_v so_o link_v together_o that_o one_o of_o they_o can_v be_v without_o the_o rest_n as_o where_o envy_v be_v there_o be_v hatred_n etc._n etc._n there_o be_v no_o other_o particular_a work_n of_o the_o flesh_n so_o express_v with_o so_o many_o word_n to_o aggravate_v the_o same_o as_o this_o of_o envy_n or_o strife_n and_o when_o we_o be_v exhort_v to_o follow_v peace_n with_o all_o man_n at_o the_o same_o time_n in_o the_o next_o verse_n it_o be_v add_v look_v diligent_o lest_o any_o root_n of_o bitterness_n spring_v up_o trouble_v you_o it_o be_v observable_a how_o much_o or_o most_o indeed_o the_o apostle_n place_v the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o these_o heavenly_a and_o excellent_a virtue_n which_o be_v most_o direct_o opposite_a to_o body_n who_o chief_a business_n be_v to_o beget_v jealousy_n and_o hard_a thought_n etc._n etc._n one_o against_o another_o have_v be_v none_o of_o the_o least_o of_o the_o engine_n and_o method_n which_o the_o grand_a disturber_n and_o enemy_n of_o we_o all_o have_v use_v both_o first_o to_o foment_n and_o also_o to_o keep_v up_o and_o heighten_v difference_n and_o then_o to_o divide_v rend_v and_o break_v into_o piece_n and_o run_v into_o party_n one_o after_o another_o which_o alas_o many_o be_v more_o zealous_a to_o maintain_v when_o once_o engage_v therein_o either_o by_o affection_n interest_n or_o relation_n and_o be_v more_o eager_a and_o earnest_a by_o far_o to_o promote_v the_o same_o than_o pure_o the_o interest_n of_o naked_a truth_n itself_o and_o be_v it_o not_o a_o great_a pity_n that_o such_o a_o substantial_a commodious_a meetinghouse_n as_o the_o old_a one_o be_v both_o for_o situation_n largeness_n and_o several_a other_o convenience_n shall_v altogether_o be_v as_o useless_a and_o lie_v waste_n and_o desolate_a as_o already_o for_o some_o year_n and_o may_v be_v more_o a_o great_a injury_n both_o to_o the_o live_n and_o the_o dead_a and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n friend_n on_o both_o side_n put_v to_o the_o charge_n and_o inconveniency_n of_o have_v two_o distinct_a public_a meeting-place_n o_o how_o will_v some_o be_v able_a to_o answer_v for_o this_o in_o the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n sect_n iv_o some_o friendly_a counsel_n and_o tender_a advice_n to_o professor_n of_o truth_n with_o one_o or_o two_o more_o substantial_a testimony_n i._o let_v we_o therefore_o friend_n every_o one_o of_o we_o lay_v aside_o all_o manner_n of_o peevishness_n of_o spirit_n and_o let_v not_o a_o haughty_a kind_n of_o a_o sullen_a morose_n humour_n prevail_v upon_o any_o of_o we_o neither_o let_v a_o impatient_a insolent_a or_o insult_a temper_n appear_v in_o we_o but_o let_v we_o all_o be_v as_o tender_a and_o comply_a as_o affectionate_a and_o good_a nature_a towards_o all_o as_o possible_o we_o can_v be_v that_o so_o by_o a_o oblige_a civility_n and_o courteous_a behaviour_n as_o well_o as_o a_o melt_a kindness_n it_o may_v be_v apparent_a that_o we_o do_v sincere_o desire_v the_o good_a and_o wellfair_a one_o of_o another_o and_o be_v we_o all_o but_o once_o bring_v to_o be_v of_o this_o excellent_a and_o true_o christian-like_a temper_n viz._n to_o judge_n charitable_o to_o bear_v patient_o to_o be_v moderate_o incline_v free_o and_o full_o to_o forgive_v tender_o compassionate_a meek_o condescend_v and_o humble_o submit_v to_o and_o prefer_v one_o another_o then_o we_o shall_v soon_o see_v thing_n grow_v better_o among_o we_o then_o there_o will_v not_o be_v such_o shyness_n distance_n and_o straitness_n nor_o such_o contention_n confusion_n distraction_n etc._n etc._n among_o we_o and_o have_v it_o not_o be_v for_o these_o evil_n hurtful_a and_o stumble_a practice_n will_v not_o the_o truth_n have_v prevail_v general_o in_o this_o place_n as_o much_o as_o in_o any_o and_o before_o these_o sad_a division_n happen_v be_v there_o many_o country_n meeting_n like_v to_o this_o here_o and_o that_o in_o divers_a respect_n both_o for_o freshness_n and_o largeness_n and_o certain_o can_v it_o ever_o have_v come_v to_o such_o a_o loss_n either_o as_o to_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o have_v that_o innocency_n lowliness_n simplicity_n lamblike_a nature_n tenderness_n and_o charity_n which_o first_o appear_v be_v real_o by_o all_o keep_v to_o which_z alas_o for_o some_o time_n past_a have_v be_v too_o much_o on_o the_o decay_a hand_n and_o in_o the_o place_n thereof_o too_o much_o of_o human_a wisdom_n carnal_a policy_n subtle_a contrivance_n and_o cunning_a project_n together_o with_o sourness_n loftiness_n prejudice_n enmity_n envy_n self_n exaltation_n thing_n obs_n but_o the_o bless_a truth_n be_v still_o the_o same_o as_o ever_o and_o must_v not_o be_v blame_v for_o these_o thing_n etc._n etc._n have_v alas_o too_o much_o prevail_v as_o to_o some_o here_o and_o be_v on_o the_o increase_a hand_n insomuch_o that_o the_o one_o viz._n the_o latter_a have_v even_o almost_o overpower_v the_o other_o o_o friend_n this_o indeed_o be_v sad_a and_o very_a grievous_a to_o consider_v but_o it_o be_v real_o too_o true_a though_o a_o mournful_a observation_n and_o will_v to_o god_n that_o it_o can_v be_v prove_v by_o any_o to_o be_v but_o either_o a_o mistake_n or_o a_o misrepresentation_n or_o a_o too_o rash_a conclusion_n or_o severe_a groundless_a censure_n or_o what_o may_v be_v suppose_v to_o be_v but_o the_o product_n of_o dissatisfaction_n or_o prejudice_n as_o doubtless_o some_o will_v be_v ready_a enough_o to_o judge_v so_o but_o the_o instance_n &_o effect_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a the_o great_a be_v the_o pity_n be_v so_o public_a and_o notorious_o see_v and_o observe_v as_o they_o have_v be_v and_o be_v and_o that_o too_o almost_o daily_o there_o be_v neither_o that_o ground_n to_o suggest_v any_o one_o of_o these_o as_o other_o way_n there_o may_v be_v nor_o can_v any_o rational_o conclude_v that_o what_o be_v here_o mention_v only_o in_o general_a concern_v the_o same_o be_v do_v either_o from_o malice_n or_o ill-will_a towards_o any_o and_o there_o be_v but_o few_o if_o any_o among_o we_o here_o but_o must_v confess_v to_o the_o truth_n thereof_o and_o that_o it_o be_v too_o often_o manifest_a in_o one_o action_n or_o other_o which_o ought_v indeed_o to_o be_v much_o lament_v by_o all_o the_o sincere_a &_o honest_a heart_a friend_n of_o truth_n and_o sure_o it_o be_v cause_n of_o great_a grief_n and_o sorrow_n to_o all_o such_o as_o consider_v of_o thing_n both_o serious_o and_o impartial_o and_o be_v of_o one_o universal_a public_a spirit_n and_o concern_v for_o the_o good_a of_o all_o and_o not_o bias_v to_o interest_n or_o party_n etc._n etc._n and_o friend_n happy_a will_v we_o all_o be_v that_o as_o we_o profess_v to_o be_v follower_n of_o bless_a jesus_n who_o suffer_v for_o we_o leave_v we_o a_o example_n that_o we_o shall_v follow_v his_o step_n so_o we_o may_v real_o demonstrate_v that_o we_o be_v true_o such_o as_o imitate_v he_o and_o that_o the_o same_o mind_n be_v in_o we_o which_o be_v in_o he_o who_o though_o he_o do_v no_o sin_n neither_o be_v guile_n ever_o find_v in_o his_o mouth_n yet_o when_o he_o be_v revile_v he_o revile_v not_o again_o 23._o 1_o pet._n 2.21_o 23._o when_o he_o suffer_v he_o threaten_v not_o but_o commit_v himself_o to_o he_o that_o judge_v righteous_o and_o most_o meek_o and_o patient_o endure_v the_o contradiction_n of_o sinner_n 23.25_o luke_n 23.25_o and_o pray_v according_a to_o his_o own_o injunction_n to_o we_o for_o his_o enemy_n even_o those_o
