be_v the_o same_o as_o to_o pray_v always_o as_o the_o apostle_n require_v in_o another_o place_n when_o he_o say_v pray_v continual_o it_o be_v not_o mean_v 17._o 1._o thess_n 5._o 17._o that_o one_o shall_v do_v nothing_o but_o pray_v for_o than_o we_o shall_v not_o eat_v nor_o sleep_n but_o he_o mean_v that_o we_o ought_v to_o keep_v a_o steady_a and_o continue_a course_n of_o prayer_n not_o only_o public_o but_o private_o and_o particular_o in_o our_o closert_n for_o we_o have_v not_o only_o general_a but_o particular_a matter_n to_o pray_v for_o which_o concern_v ourselves_o call_v the_o ordinary_a sacrifice_n which_o be_v only_o in_o the_o morning_n and_o evening_n offer_v yet_o call_v the_o continual_a 41._o exod._n 29._o 38._o 40._o 41._o sacrifice_n because_o it_o be_v continual_o offer_v every_o day_n second_o in_o that_o he_o say_v watch_v unto_o prayer_n he_o note_n note_n note_v that_o it_o must_v be_v a_o fervent_a not_o a_o drowsy_a prayer_n and_o we_o must_v keep_v our_o mind_n close_o unto_o god_n that_o they_o do_v not_o wander_v abroad_o and_o that_o it_o be_v do_v with_o earnestness_n not_o drowsiness_n which_o be_v oft_o turn_v into_o sin_n which_o come_v either_o from_o the_o care_n of_o this_o life_n or_o from_o sorrow_n as_o the_o disciple_n when_o our_o saviour_n exhort_v they_o to_o pray_v they_o by_o sorrow_n for_o his_o departure_n be_v overcome_v with_o 45._o luke_n 22._o 45._o sleep_n but_o furthermore_o as_o we_o be_v to_o ask_v in_o prayer_n so_o we_o be_v to_o return_v unto_o the_o lord_n in_o thanksgiving_n contrary_a to_o the_o custom_n of_o man_n that_o be_v watchful_a enough_o to_o ask_v but_o return_v not_o with_o thanks_n and_o a_o general_a fault_n it_o be_v that_o we_o be_v long_o in_o our_o petition_n and_o short_a in_o our_o thanksgiving_n this_o corruption_n we_o see_v in_o the_o nine_o leper_n 18_o luk._n 17._o 17._o 18_o that_o be_v earnest_a in_o their_o petition_n unto_o christ_n but_o forget_v to_o give_v thanks_n when_o they_o have_v receive_v their_o desire_n but_o the_o apostle_n exhort_v we_o to_o be_v as_o watchful_a to_o thanksgiving_a as_o to_o petition_n contrary_a to_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n and_o see_v by_o reason_n of_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n we_o want_v and_o our_o great_a want_n we_o have_v need_v to_o ask_v supply_n of_o god_n so_o be_v there_o none_o of_o we_o but_o we_o have_v receive_v many_o and_o ample_a blessing_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o have_v as_o just_a cause_n to_o return_v he_o thanks_n but_o many_o man_n have_v their_o eye_n all_o upon_o their_o want_n that_o they_o will_v never_o look_v upon_o the_o grace_n &_o blessing_n of_o god_n bestow_v on_o they_o whereof_o they_o be_v forgetful_a and_o as_o many_o be_v faulty_a in_o this_o so_o there_o be_v more_o which_o be_v guilty_a of_o this_o fault_n as_o to_o think_v all_o be_v well_o with_o they_o and_o therefore_o cry_v peace_n peace_n to_o themselves_o think_v they_o have_v need_n of_o no_o more_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o neglect_v to_o cry_v and_o sue_v unto_o god_n earnest_o for_o further_a grace_n and_o mercy_n and_o as_o it_o be_v a_o general_a sin_n in_o regard_n of_o man_n particular_a estate_n so_o also_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o general_a estate_n of_o the_o church_n this_o be_v a_o general_a sin_n that_o man_n forget_v to_o pray_v for_o thing_n she_o needs_o and_o to_o give_v thanks_n for_o favour_n show_v she_o and_o many_o there_o be_v who_o have_v their_o eye_n still_o upon_o note_n note_n the_o want_n and_o blemish_n of_o the_o church_n and_o be_v still_o cry_v out_o upon_o they_o and_o because_o of_o that_o be_v never_o thankful_a unto_o god_n for_o those_o mercy_n that_o god_n have_v bestow_v upon_o the_o church_n as_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n which_o they_o may_v free_o come_v unto_o in_o peace_n yet_o they_o say_v that_o all_o be_v but_o as_o popery_n so_o unthankful_a unto_o god_n be_v they_o for_o these_o mercy_n contemn_v they_o as_o nothing_o because_o they_o want_v those_o which_o be_v be_v also_o convenient_a another_o sort_n of_o people_n in_o the_o church_n there_o be_v that_o see_v
