that_o whosoever_o trouble_v he_o his_o thigh_n shall_v be_v break_v that_o law_n have_v he_o make_v over_o you_o say_v athanagoras_n and_o not_o over_o i_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v go_v down_o unto_o he_o but_o first_o tell_v i_o i_o pray_v you_o what_o you_o call_v his_o name_n they_o answer_v apollonius_n and_o when_o he_o hear_v that_o name_n he_o remember_v in_o his_o mind_n that_o he_o on_o his_o finger_n he_o be_v somewhat_o astonish_v and_o call_v unto_o he_o with_o a_o soft_a voice_n say_v apollonius_n when_o apollonius_n hear_v himself_o name_v think_v it_o have_v be_v some_o of_o his_o man_n that_o have_v call_v he_o arise_v up_o sudden_o with_o a_o fierce_a countenance_n and_o see_v a_o stranger_n look_v very_o comely_a and_o honourable_o attire_v he_o hold_v his_o peace_n then_o speak_v athanagoras_n sir_n i_o think_v you_o do_v marvel_n that_o i_o be_v a_o stranger_n be_o so_o bold_a as_o to_o come_v to_o trouble_v you_o you_o shall_v understand_v that_o i_o be_o prince_n of_o this_o city_n and_o my_o name_n be_v athanagoras_n i_o walk_v by_o chance_n unto_o the_o sea_n side_n where_o behold_v thy_o ship_n especial_o commend_v this_o wherein_o thou_o be_v and_o i_o beseech_v thou_o not_o to_o trouble_v i_o long_o for_o i_o be_o not_o worthy_a to_o eat_v meat_n or_o make_v good_a cheer_n &_o i_o will_v live_v no_o long_o athanagoras_n much_o muse_v at_o this_o answer_n and_o wonder_v at_o the_o wilfulness_n of_o the_o man_n and_o come_v up_o upon_o the_o beck_n and_o say_v unto_o the_o servant_n i_o can_v persuade_v your_o lord_n to_o come_v up_o out_o of_o that_o dark_a place_n into_o the_o light_n what_o way_n therefore_o be_v i_o best_o to_o devise_v to_o bring_v he_o from_o his_o purpose_n and_o to_o preserve_v he_o from_o a_o obstinate_a death_n for_o it_o be_v great_a pity_n that_o a_o notable_a gentleman_n shall_v so_o consume_v away_o in_o huck_a mucker_n and_o die_v by_o a_o dishonourable_a death_n chap._n xvii_o how_o athanagoras_n send_v for_o tharsia_n to_o make_v her_o father_n apollonius_n merry_a and_o how_o after_o long_a circumstance_n they_o come_v into_o knowledge_n one_o of_o another_o and_o as_o he_o be_v devise_v with_o himself_o it_o come_v into_o his_o mind_n to_o send_v for_o the_o maiden_n tharsia_n for_o which_o purpose_n he_o call_v unto_o he_o one_o of_o his_o man_n and_o say_a unto_o he_o go_v unto_o the_o bawd_n desire_v he_o to_o send_v tharsia_n hither_o unto_o i_o for_o she_o have_v wisdom_n &_o can_v move_v pleasant_a talk_n and_o perhaps_o she_o may_v persuade_v he_o not_o to_o die_v thus_o wilful_o the_o messenger_n go_v speedy_o &_o return_v immediate_o bring_v the_o maiden_n tharsia_n with_o he_o unto_o the_o ship_n who_o when_o athanagoras_n behold_v come_v hither_o unto_o i_o tharsia_n quoth_v he_o and_o show_v now_o the_o uttermost_a of_o thy_o cunning_a and_o knowledge_n in_o comfort_v the_o owner_n of_o the_o ship_n which_o lie_v in_o darkness_n and_o will_v receive_v no_o comfort_n nor_o come_v abroad_o into_o the_o light_n for_o the_o great_a sorrow_n that_o he_o take_v for_o his_o wife_n and_o his_o daughter_n go_v unto_o he_o good_a tharsia_n and_o prove_v if_o thou_o can_v persuade_v he_o to_o come_v into_o the_o light_n for_o it_o may_v be_v that_o god_n have_v appoint_v by_o thy_o mean_n to_o bring_v he_o from_o sorrow_n into_o gladness_n which_o thing_n if_o thou_o can_v bring_v to_o pass_v as_o i_o be_o a_o gentleman_n i_o will_v give_v thou_o thirty_o sesterce_n of_o gold_n and_o as_o many_o of_o silver_n and_o i_o will_v redeem_v thou_o from_o the_o bawd_n for_o thirty_o day_n when_o tharsia_n hear_v this_o she_o go_v bold_o down_o into_o the_o cabin_n unto_o he_o and_o with_o a_o mild_a voice_n salute_v he_o say_v god_n save_v you_o sir_n whosoever_o you_o be_v and_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n for_o a_o innocent_a virgin_n who_o life_n have_v be_v distress_v by_o shipwreck_n and_o her_o chastity_n by_o dishonesty_n and_o yet_o have_v both_o preserve_v salute_v thou_o then_o begin_v she_o to_o record_v in_o verse_n and_o therewithal_o to_o sing_v so_o sweet_o that_o apollonius_n notwithstanding_o his_o great_a the_o rose_n among_o the_o thorn_n grow_v and_o be_v not_o hurt_v thereby_o the_o thief_n that_o steal_v i_o sure_o i_o think_v be_v slay_v before_o this_o time_n a_o bawd_n i_o buy_v yet_o be_o i_o not_o defile_v by_o fleshly_a crime_n be_v nothing_o pleasant_a to_o i_o than_o parent_n i_o to_o know_v i_o be_o the_o issue_n of_o a_o king_n my_o blood_n from_o king_n do_v flow_v i_o hope_v that_o god_n will_v mend_v my_o state_n and_o send_v a_o better_a day_n leave_v off_o your_o tear_n pluck_v up_o your_o heart_n and_o banish_v
