when_o it_o be_v compare_v with_o his_o severity_n against_o his_o enemy_n therefore_o however_o the_o jew_n be_v call_v to_o consider_v it_o in_o itself_o as_o sore_a displeasure_n v._o 2._o yet_o intend_v and_o aim_v at_o the_o utter_a destruction_n of_o the_o church_n when_o god_n intend_v only_o to_o correct_v and_o purge_v they_o 4._o as_o the_o cruel_a design_n of_o the_o church_n enemy_n proof_n of_o what_o he_o say_v 2._o as_o the_o lord_n presence_n with_o his_o people_n as_o a_o reconcile_a god_n be_v a_o
will_v be_v see_v by_o she_o that_o she_o may_v be_v stir_v up_o to_o her_o duty_n so_o the_o best_a sight_n of_o they_o and_o expound_v of_o their_o way_n be_v have_v from_o god_n whereby_o she_o these_o horn_n and_o albeit_o their_o trouble_n from_o enemy_n be_v a_o know_a thing_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v discover_v it_o in_o vision_n and_o expound_v it_o himself_o upon_o the_o prophet_n question_n to_o show_v that_o god_n know_v and_o have_v a_o hand_n in_o what_o they_o do_v 3._o albeit_o the_o lord_n take_v notice_n of_o all_o the_o cruelty_n exercise_v upon_o his_o church_n yet_o in_o a_o special_a manneâ—_n he_o resent_v the_o enemy_n design_n to_o cut_v the_o face_n of_o a_o church_n from_o off_o the_o earth_n for_o they_o scatter_a judah_n etc._n etc._n as_o beast_n toss_v what_o they_o get_v upon_o their_o horn_n into_o the_o wind_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v that_o the_o scatter_n of_o jerusalem_n where_o the_o temple_n stand_v be_v consider_v by_o itself_o though_o it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o judah_n 4._o albeit_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o alike_o soon_o deliver_v all_o his_o afflict_a yea_o albeit_o these_o who_o be_v last_o afflict_v be_v first_o be_v make_v to_o see_v that_o the_o horn_n have_v scatter_v judah_n israel_n and_o jerusalem_n not_o only_o because_o some_o israelite_n have_v cleaved_a unto_o judah_n since_o the_o rent_v of_o the_o ten_o tribe_n from_o the_o house_n of_o david_n but_o to_o show_v that_o israel_n trouble_n be_v lay_v up_o in_o his_o heart_n to_o be_v forthcoming_a for_o their_o good_a in_o due_a time_n and_o that_o judah_n have_v this_o advantage_n against_o her_o enemy_n that_o israel_n have_v suffer_v by_o they_o also_o 5._o such_o as_o have_v open_v eye_n may_v discern_v as_o much_o for_o the_o difficulty_n and_o enemy_n may_v easy_o be_v see_v yet_o help_v against_o they_o can_v be_v show_v by_o god_n only_o for_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v of_o the_o horn_n that_o the_o prophet_n see_v they_o it_o be_v say_v of_o their_o help_n express_o the_o lord_n show_v i_o four_o carpenter_n 7._o christ_n the_o king_n priest_n and_o prophet_n of_o his_o church_n be_v very_a god_n equal_a with_o his_o father_n for_o here_o the_o angel_n who_o all_o this_o while_n have_v commune_v with_o and_o inform_v the_o prophet_n in_o vision_n and_o who_o have_v intercede_v for_o the_o church_n be_v her_o well-being_n and_o that_o her_o prosperity_n be_v the_o great_a business_n of_o heaven_n about_o which_o christ_n and_o angel_n be_v busy_a and_o of_o this_o christ_n will_v have_v his_o church_n assure_v for_o here_o he_o look_v again_o after_o the_o former_a vision_n wherein_o
thy_o servant_n 3._o as_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o have_v a_o brain_n notional_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o what_o he_o have_v reveal_v unless_o it_o be_v experimental_o engrave_v upon_o the_o through_o faith_n v._o 5._o when_o that_o people_n shall_v come_v to_o any_o hazard_n the_o feeble_a among_o they_o shall_v be_v endue_v with_o heroic_a fortitude_n such_o as_o david_n have_v and_o that_o their_o ruler_n and_o great_a one_o shall_v be_v raise_v to_o a_o divine_a and_o angelic_a pitch_n of_o strength_n which_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o through_o say_v in_o christ_n their_o head_n who_o be_v the_o true_a root_n and_o off_o spring_n of_o david_n and_o they_o his_o family_n and_o train_n and_o who_o be_v true_a god_n and_o as_o he_o be_v the_o david_n etc._n etc._n 3._o however_o the_o lord_n may_v keep_v his_o people_n in_o a_o low_a &_o weak_a condition_n for_o their_o exercise_n yet_o he_o have_v undertake_v to_o let_v out_o proof_n of_o his_o strength_n in_o they_o in_o a_o time_n of_o need_n in_o a_o singular_a way_n and_o will_v make_v their_o weakness_n in_o themselves_o a_o presage_n of_o their_o be_v strengthen_v in_o he_o he_o that_o be_v feeble_a among_o they_o at_o that_o day_n shall_v be_v as_o david_n 4._o none_o do_v attain_v in_o this_o life_n to_o that_o measure_n of_o strength_n and_o courage_n but_o they_o do_v yet_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o more_o and_o aught_o to_o be_v on_o the_o grow_a hand_n for_o the_o house_n of_o david_n need_v a_o promise_n of_o this_o as_o well_o as_o the_o feeble_a 5._o as_o be_v break_v yet_o remain_v enemy_n for_o there_o be_v a_o all_o of_o the_o nation_n that_o come_v against_o jerusalem_n 2._o albeit_o some_o who_o persecute_v and_o oppose_v the_o church_n of_o god_n may_v find_v mercy_n to_o come_v and_o join_v with_o she_o and_o be_v save_v yet_o for_o the_o most_o part_n it_o be_v a_o token_n of_o so_o much_o displeasure_n and_o so_o many_o former_a controversy_n against_o man_n when_o they_o be_v leâ—t_v to_o themselves_o to_o be_v persecutor_n that_o their_o destruction_n only_o will_v end_v it_o i_o will_v destroy_v all_o the_o nation_n etc._n etc._n be_v the_o ordinary_a issue_n of_o their_o be_v enemy_n 3._o the_o lord_n be_v not_o slack_a or_o remiss_a in_o avenge_a injury_n do_v to_o the_o church_n but_o will_v do_v it_o as_o effectual_o as_o man_n do_v their_o most_o serious_a affair_n when_o they_o bend_v their_o wit_n to_o devise_v mean_n to_o câ—rry_v it_o well_o on_o and_o do_v pursue_v it_o to_o the_o uttermost_a great_a tumult_n from_o the_o lord_n among_o they_o that_o cause_v this_o which_o be_v the_o posture_n and_o carriage_n of_o mad_a man_n 3._o no_o wisdom_n of_o man_n nor_o politic_a principle_n wherein_o they_o be_v unite_v will_v keep_v they_o together_o who_o be_v not_o at_o one_o in_o god_n and_o in_o his_o way_n but_o when_o he_o have_v they_o to_o ruin_v he_o can_v shake_v they_o asunder_o for_o when_o he_o send_v a_o tumult_n the_o wise_a and_o these_o who_o otherwise_o will_v think_v it_o madness_n to_o divide_v will_v take_v hold_n and_o rise_v up_o against_o his_o neighbour_n verse_n 14._o and_o judah_n also_o shall_v fight_v at_o jerusalem_n and_o the_o wealth_n of_o all_o the_o heathen_a round_o about_o shall_v be_v gather_v together_o gold_n and_o silver_n and_o apparel_n in_o great_a abundance_n the_o three_o judgement_n upon_o they_o shall_v be_v that_o god_n shall_v employ_v his_o people_n to_o act_v for_o their_o own_o defence_n and_o give_v they_o so_o complete_a a_o victory_n as_o that_o they_o shall_v gather_v the_o rich_a spoil_n of_o enemy_n to_o make_v up_o themselves_o doct._n 1._o albeit_o deliverance_n to_o the_o church_n be_v sweet_a by_o whatever_o mean_v god_n send_v it_o yet_o it_o be_v a_o special_a token_n of_o favour_n when_o god_n employ_v his_o people_n and_o make_v they_o instrumental_a in_o their_o own_o deliverance_n from_o enemy_n for_o so_o it_o be_v that_o judah_n also_o shall_v fight_v and_o consequent_o prevail_v at_o jerusalem_n it_o be_v a_o public_a evidence_n of_o god_n be_v with_o they_o and_o intend_v their_o good_a in_o these_o deliverance_n 2._o as_o man_n that_o spoil_v all_o the_o world_n to_o enrich_v themselves_o ordinary_o be_v never_o satisfy_v so_o especial_o enemy_n their_o come_n against_o the_o church_n be_v not_o so_o much_o out_o of_o poverty_n or_o want_n as_o cruelty_n and_o desire_n of_o her_o blood_n for_o they_o have_v wealth_n gold_n silver_z and_o apparel_n in_o abundance_n and_o yet_o must_v trouble_v the_o world_n more_o and_o they_o be_v not_o well_o enough_o unless_o they_o drink_v the_o church_n blood_n 3._o when_o the_o lord_n send_v trouble_n upon_o his_o people_n it_o be_v his_o way_n to_o make_v they_o up_o thereby_o ere_o all_o be_v do_v for_o all_o this_o wealth_n be_v gather_v that_o judah_n hay_v obtain_v victory_n may_v be_v enrich_v by_o the_o spoil_n ver._n 15_o and_o so_o shall_v be_v the_o plague_n of_o the_o horse_n of_o the_o mule_n of_o the_o camel_n and_o of_o the_o ass_n and_o of_o all_o the_o beast_n that_o shall_v be_v in_o these_o tent_n as_o this_o plague_n the_o conclusion_n of_o this_o threaten_n be_v that_o not_o only_o the_o enemy_n themselves_o shall_v feel_v this_o judgement_n but_o the_o very_a mean_n employ_v by_o they_o in_o their_o war_n whether_o mercenary_a soldier_n who_o employ_v themselves_o in_o war_n for_o gain_v and_o so_o be_v like_o beast_n or_o rather_o literal_o their_o beast_n for_o carriage_n and_o service_n shall_v share_v in_o the_o plague_n and_o especial_o in_o that_o consumption_n five_o 12._o doct._n 1._o the_o lord_n indignation_n against_o troubler_n of_o his_o people_n be_v such_o that_o it_o will_v break_v forth_o not_o only_o on_o rational_a creature_n but_o upon_o the_o very_a mean_n and_o instrument_n they_o employ_v that_o so_o he_o may_v disable_v they_o from_o the_o like_a attempt_n in_o time_n come_v and_o let_v it_o be_v see_v how_o he_o resent_v his_o people_n wrong_n in_o ruine_v they_o and_o they_o who_o have_v hand_n in_o it_o for_o horse_n mule_n etc._n etc._n that_o be_v in_o these_o tent_n be_v plague_v as_o well_o as_o man_n 2._o it_o be_v the_o great_a sin_n of_o man_n that_o be_v the_o creature_n lord_n he_o shall_v employ_v they_o against_o god_n and_o so_o bring_v they_o under_o the_o stroke_n of_o wrath_n and_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o much_o misery_n on_o all_o thing_n as_o well_o as_o himself_o for_o these_o enemy_n bring_v all_o these_o creature_n to_o be_v plague_v with_o themselves_o 3._o god_n justice_n upon_o the_o very_a senseless_a or_o irrational_a creature_n ought_v to_o be_v lay_v to_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o that_o which_o come_v upon_o man_n for_o this_o plague_n be_v hold_v out_o to_o be_v cousideâ—ed_v as_o well_o as_o the_o rest_n verse_n 16._o and_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o every_o one_o that_o be_v leave_v of_o all_o the_o nation_n which_o come_v against_o jerusalem_n shall_v even_o go_v up_o from_o year_n to_o year_n to_o worship_v the_o king_n the_o lord_n of_o host_n and_o to_o keep_v the_o jest_n of_o tabernacle_n in_o the_o seven_o part_n of_o this_o prophecy_n there_o be_v a_o exception_n make_v from_o the_o former_a sentence_n of_o judgement_n foretell_v of_o the_o conversion_n of_o multitude_n or_o many_o of_o every_o sort_n of_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o church_n when_o they_o shall_v see_v god_n judgement_n on_o the_o rest_n and_o that_o they_o shall_v join_v with_o the_o church_n of_o israel_n in_o acknowledge_v christ_n and_o in_o his_o public_a spiritual_a worship_n express_v in_o term_n take_v from_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n because_o it_o can_v not_o be_v understand_v in_o the_o prophet_n time_n but_o in_o these_o term_n doct._n 1._o as_o after_o the_o lord_n have_v plough_v the_o world_n by_o judgement_n he_o use_v to_o make_v a_o seedtime_n a_o harvest_n of_o conversion_n so_o he_o can_v and_o ofttimes_o will_v bring_v in_o very_a enemy_n by_o sad_a stroke_n and_o by_o mâ—king_v friend_n of_o they_o show_v his_o kindness_n to_o his_o spiritual_a go_v up_o or_o ascend_v and_o constant_a do_v this_o from_o year_n to_o year_n and_o aught_o to_o have_v a_o high_a estimation_n of_o god_n and_o come_v with_o reverence_n before_o he_o who_o be_v the_o king_n the_o lord_n of_o host_n this_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o that_o type_n of_o yearly_a appear_v before_o the_o lord_n at_o jerusalem_n the_o worship_n of_o god_n not_o be_v tie_v to_o any_o special_a place_n under_o the_o gospel_n but_o the_o public_a worship_n of_o christian_n wherever_o they_o dwell_v make_v it_o a_o jerusalem_n 3._o this_o keep_n of_o the_o feast_n of_o tabernacle_n be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v literal_o in_o regard_n the_o ceremonial_a law_n be_v abolish_v by_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n but_o the_o spiritual_a public_a worship_n of_o the_o church_n be_v point_v at_o which_o be_v signify_v by_o these_o solemn_a feast_n and_o particular_o this_o feast_n be_v pitch_v on_o rather_o than_o another_o 1._o because_o it_o be_v a_o feast_n of_o great_a joy_n leu._n 23.40_o signify_v that_o the_o new_a testament_n afford_v not_o only_a matter_n of_o feast_v but_o cause_n of_o exceed_a joy_n 2._o because_o this_o feast_n shadow_v out_o christ_n incarnation_n and_o dwell_v in_o the_o tabernacle_n of_o our_o flesh_n joh._n 1.14_o which_o be_v the_o chief_a subject_n and_o matter_n of_o joy_n to_o the_o church_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n 3._o because_o it_o have_v relation_n to_o the_o preservation_n of_o israel_n forty_o year_n in_o the_o wilderness_n till_o the_o lord_n bring_v and_o settle_v they_o in_o the_o promise_a land_n and_o so_o it_o hold_v out_o that_o these_o convert_v will_n especial_o observe_v the_o providence_n of_o god_n towards_o they_o in_o preserve_v they_o till_o by_o the_o gospel_n they_o be_v bring_v into_o the_o church_n and_o general_o that_o true_a convert_v under_o the_o gospel_n will_v be_v eye_v much_o the_o heavenly_a canaan_n their_o rest_n as_o approach_v on_o the_o back_n of_o but_o we_o wiâ—â—_n return_n and_o build_v the_o desolate_a place_n 2._o as_o where_o god_n be_v a_o party_n man_n endeavour_n to_o exempt_v themselves_o from_o trouble_n will_v not_o avail_v so_o a_o impenitent_a people_n not_o submit_v to_o god_n in_o rod_n nor_o lay_v to_o heart_n his_o controversy_n will_v find_v all_o mean_n that_o may_v promise_v they_o deliverance_n prove_v vain_a for_o nor_o will_v be_v right_o consider_v but_o when_o sense_n of_o sin_n and_o guiltiness_n procure_v the_o same_o be_v look_v on_o and_o that_o in_o all_o its_o aggravation_n and_o grossness_n for_o never_o thrive_v the_o better_a that_o they_o neglect_v god_n service_n and_o think_v to_o increase_v their_o stock_n by_o withhold_v what_o be_v due_a from_o god_n servant_n but_o be_v ordinary_o serve_v in_o their_o own_o coin_n and_o plague_v with_o as_o much_o want_n as_o they_o drive_v his_o servant_n to_o and_o however_o they_o be_v certain_o pursue_v with_o a_o curse_n in_o all_o that_o they_o have_v which_o can_v soon_o overspread_v a_o whole_a kingdom_n you_o be_v curse_v with_o a_o curse_n for_o you_o have_v rob_v i_o even_o this_o whole_a nation_n 2._o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o these_o who_o will_v uphold_v god_n service_n not_o only_o to_o give_v what_o be_v requisite_a for_o maintenance_n of_o the_o minister_n thereof_o but_o to_o do_v it_o voluntary_o and_o so_o as_o it_o and_o that_o much_o of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v find_v of_o these_o who_o wait_v on_o he_o in_o his_o own_o way_n for_o it_o for_o the_o lord_n submit_v to_o a_o trial_n from_o experience_n if_o these_o quarreller_n will_v leave_v their_o debate_n and_o put_v he_o to_o it_o let_v there_o be_v meat_n in_o my_o house_n and_o prove_v i_o now_o herewith_o if_o i_o will_v not_o open_v upon_o you_o as_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o do_v for_o it_o be_v a_o argument_n to_o invite_v they_o who_o be_v under_o a_o curse_n to_o turn_v from_o their_o evil_a way_n all_o nation_n shall_v call_v you_o bless_v and_o bold_a course_n when_o man_n dare_v not_o only_o secret_o murmur_v against_o god_n his_o providence_n and_o their_o duty_n but_o dare_v open_o publish_v and_o avowsuch_v mistake_n and_o reject_v conviction_n for_o it_o as_o a_o sin_n your_o word_n have_v be_v stout_a yet_o you_o say_v what_o have_v we_o speak_v so_o much_o against_o thou_o 2._o as_o it_o be_v desperate_a presumption_n for_o man_n to_o cast_v out_o with_o piety_n so_o the_o lord_n will_v have_v every_o one_o that_o serve_v he_o try_v in_o their_o sincerity_n and_o whether_o or_o not_o any_o thing_n will_v drive_v they_o on_o such_o a_o snare_n for_o here_o these_o who_o pretend_v to_o much_o service_n speak_v stout_o and_o say_v it_o be_v vain_a to_o serve_v god_n 3._o it_o be_v a_o character_n of_o true_a piety_n when_o man_n do_v indeed_o cleave_v close_o to_o the_o reveal_v will_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o be_v humble_a for_o all_o they_o do_v when_o they_o be_v humble_v for_o their_o short-coming_n and_o do_v stoop_v and_o mourn_v under_o any_o correction_n consider_v the_o greatness_n and_o power_n of_o god_n with_o who_o they_o have_v to_o do_v for_o this_o be_v true_a piety_n which_o they_o pretend_v to_o to_o keep_v his_o ordinance_n and_o walk_v mournful_o before_o the_o lord_n of_o host_n 4._o it_o be_v a_o great_a evidence_n of_o unfoundnesse_n when_o man_n despise_v piety_n and_o the_o way_n of_o god_n because_o of_o the_o want_n of_o outward_a success_n as_o if_o piety_n and_o a_o good_a conscience_n be_v not_o a_o reward_n to_o itself_o and_o as_o if_o it_o be_v not_o fit_a that_o god_n purge_v his_o own_o people_n that_o they_o may_v bring_v forth_o more_o fruit_n they_o account_v it_o vain_a to_o serve_v god_n for_o what_o profit_n be_v it_o that_o we_o have_v keep_v his_o ordinance_n etc._n etc._n 5._o it_o be_v also_o a_o great_a evidence_n of_o unfoundnesse_n when_o man_n see_v too_o well_o their_o own_o performance_n and_o be_v proud_a of_o they_o and_o this_o conceit_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o man_n quarrel_v when_o their_o lot_n please_v they_o not_o for_o these_o complainer_n see_v their_o own_o worth_n and_o what_o they_o do_v and_o because_o of_o this_o complain_n whereas_o man_n humility_n lose_v the_o lustre_n where_o they_o see_v it_o and_o swell_v with_o it_o 6._o it_o may_v please_v the_o lord_n for_o a_o snare_n to_o sinner_n and_o a_o trial_n to_o other_o and_o that_o none_o may_v dote_v on_o outward_a thing_n not_o only_o to_o deliver_v sinner_n out_o of_o trouble_n but_o when_o they_o come_v to_o the_o height_n of_o impiety_n as_o not_o to_o own_o god_n or_o tempt_v and_o put_v he_o to_o it_o to_o make_v that_o a_o mean_n of_o advancement_n for_o they_o that_o work_n wickedness_n be_v set_v up_o and_o they_o that_o tempt_v god_n be_v even_o deliver_v 7._o the_o prosperity_n of_o wicked_a man_n in_o wicked_a course_n be_v a_o trial_n of_o sincerity_n and_o will_v ready_o draw_v unfound_a hypocrite_n not_o only_o to_o be_v discourage_v in_o what_o of_o religion_n they_o pretend_v to_o but_o open_o to_o side_n with_o impiety_n as_o the_o only_o bless_a way_n we_o call_v the_o proud_a happy_a etc._n etc._n verse_n 16._o then_o they_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n speak_v often_o one_o to_o another_o and_o the_o lord_n hearken_v and_o hear_v it_o and_o a_o book_n of_o remembrance_n be_v write_v before_o he_o for_o they_o
