steadfastness_n of_o your_o faith_n the_o difference_n between_o a_o temporary_a faith_n and_o true_a justify_n faith_n faith_n in_o christ_n for_o justify_v faith_n be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o solid_a by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n hence_o they_o conclude_v that_o justify_v faith_n have_v the_o whole_a word_n for_o the_o object_n of_o it_o but_o to_o this_o we_o answer_v that_o not_o only_o justify_v faith_n be_v define_v by_o the_o apostle_n in_o that_o place_n but_o that_o that_o definition_n of_o faith_n be_v common_a to_o all_o the_o signification_n of_o faith_n as_o be_v plain_a enough_o by_o that_o induction_n of_o example_n which_o follow_v in_o that_o place_n and_o chapter_n neither_o be_v that_o their_o argument_n which_o they_o gather_v out_o of_o the_o coherence_n of_o the_o text_n of_o any_o force_n they_o say_v that_o that_o faith_n be_v define_v of_o which_o the_o apostle_n speak_v in_o the_o last_o verse_n of_o the_o chapter_n go_v afore_o now_o the_o just_a shall_v live_v confess_v do_v belong_v to_o justify_v faith_n but_o not_o to_o that_o alone_a but_o it_o be_v common_a to_o it_o with_o other_o signification_n of_o faith_n as_o with_o historical_a faith_n heb._n change_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o reason_n before_o specify_v and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v 2._o cor._n 7._o that_o the_o sorrow_n which_o be_v according_a to_o god_n cause_v repentance_n and_o thus_o far_o of_o the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o benefit_n which_o be_v find_v to_o be_v in_o sorrow_n the_o other_o follow_v which_o be_v call_v proper_o by_o the_o apostle_n 2._o cor._n vers_fw-la 7._o a_o change_n of_o the_o mind_n for_o there_o follow_v after_o that_o godly_a sorrow_n a_o certain_a wonderful_a change_n of_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o will_n and_o of_o the_o heart_n as_o touch_v knowledge_n and_o that_o illumination_n repentance_n second_o part_n of_o repentance_n of_o the_o mind_n this_o go_v before_o the_o sorrow_n we_o have_v speak_v of_o &_o be_v a_o acknowledgement_n wrought_v in_o we_o first_o of_o sin_n and_o of_o our_o misery_n by_o the_o law_n next_o of_o mercy_n by_o the_o gospel_n therefore_o the_o change_n of_o the_o mind_n which_o follow_v this_o sorrow_n it_o pertain_v to_o the_o faculty_n or_o judgement_n of_o reason_n which_o also_o be_v call_v the_o counsel_n and_o purpose_n of_o the_o mind_n act._n 11._o 23._o he_o of_o the_o mind_n which_o be_v a_o effect_n of_o sorrow_n the_o first_o be_v a_o change_n from_o evil_a and_o from_o sin_n commit_v the_o second_o be_v a_o change_n to_o good_a hereafter_o to_o be_v practise_v and_o follow_v common_o these_o part_n be_v call_v mortification_n and_o vivification_n but_o i_o know_v not_o how_o right_o &_o just_o for_o mortification_n and_o vivification_n be_v proper_o part_n of_o regeneration_n which_o do_v differ_v from_o repentance_n as_o shall_v be_v see_v differ_v regeneration_n and_o repentance_n differ_v hereafter_o by_o that_o which_o have_v be_v already_o say_v we_o understand_v what_o be_v the_o especial_a point_n of_o repentance_n from_o whence_o it_o proceed_v and_o whereunto_o it_o serve_v the_o point_n from_o whence_o it_o proceed_v be_v the_o evil_a or_o sin_n commit_v the_o point_n to_o which_o it_o tend_v be_v the_o good_a hereafter_o to_o be_v do_v repentance_n therefore_o stand_v between_o two_o action_n past_a and_o future_a this_o liberty_n also_o in_o thing_n good_a &_o evil_a for_o see_v there_o be_v double_a act_n &_o a_o double_a form_n in_o the_o will_n of_o the_o regnerat_a man_n to_o wit_n the_o form_n of_o holiness_n and_o the_o form_n of_o corruption_n &_o because_o he_o have_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o new_a man_n and_o the_o remnant_n of_o the_o old_a it_o can_v be_v but_o that_o the_o near_a power_n of_o he_o will_v be_v double_a also_o one_o incline_v unto_o good_a the_o other_o decline_v unto_o evil_n so_o that_o this_o receive_a definition_n of_o freewill_n seem_v unto_o i_o to_o agree_v best_a with_o the_o will_n of_o the_o regenerate_a person_n but_o if_o you_o define_v liberty_n to_o consist_v of_o a_o power_n not_o constrain_v tend_v to_o good_a only_o and_o not_o to_o evil_a then_o very_o the_o man_n regenerate_v be_v not_o so_o free_a but_o proceed_v only_o to_o this_o liberty_n which_o shall_v at_o length_n be_v perfect_v in_o another_o life_n final_o concern_v the_o estate_n of_o glorification_n the_o question_n be_v whether_o man_n when_o he_o shall_v be_v glorify_v shall_v have_v this_o liberty_n of_o will_n i_o answer_v if_o you_o define_v freewill_n a_o power_n to_o make_v choice_n of_o either_o part_n even_o in_o good_a thing_n and_o in_o evil_a then_o i_o say_v man_n in_o this_o state_n of_o glorification_n shall_v not_o have_v it_o for_o he_o free_o will_n or_o will_z choose_v or_o refuse_v howbeit_o since_o the_o fall_n of_o man_n such_o be_v the_o confusion_n of_o these_o faculty_n or_o power_n of_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n that_o what_o the_o understanding_n judge_v to_o be_v evil_a and_o disallow_v the_o very_a same_o do_v the_o will_v choose_v and_o prosecute_v man_n the_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n which_o be_v by_o nature_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a that_o which_o the_o mind_n approve_v for_o good_a and_o allow_v that_o very_o same_o the_o will_n reject_v of_o the_o mind_n it_o may_v be_v demand_v whether_o it_o can_v discern_v between_o good_a and_o evil_a approve_v the_o one_o improve_v the_o other_o this_o question_n must_v be_v answer_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o that_o fourfold_a state_n of_o man_n but_o because_o the_o question_n chief_o be_v of_o the_o understanding_n of_o man_n in_o the_o state_n of_o corruption_n whether_o that_o can_v approve_v or_o accept_v understand_v the_o grace_n of_o our_o vocation_n or_o of_o offering_n christ_n unto_o we_o and_o the_o grace_n of_o faith_n or_o of_o receive_v christ_n by_o us._n in_o justification_n we_o have_v a_o three_o grace_n which_o we_o may_v call_v the_o grace_n of_o justification_n &_o in_o glorification_n there_o be_v a_o four_o grace_n which_o we_o may_v not_o unfitt_o call_v the_o grace_n of_o glorification_n hence_o we_o may_v see_v that_o the_o first_o grace_n which_o they_o call_v prevent_v grace_n be_v that_o grace_n whereby_o god_n first_o call_v we_o to_o himself_o by_o his_o gospel_n and_o the_o last_o grace_n which_o be_v grace_n prevent_v grace_n the_o complement_n of_o grace_n to_o be_v that_o grace_n whereby_o god_n do_v glorify_v we_o together_o with_o his_o son_n in_o his_o kingdom_n for_o he_o begin_v the_o last_o grace_n in_o this_o life_n by_o regeneration_n but_o reserve_v the_o full_a consummation_n thereof_o to_o another_o life_n by_o glorification_n thus_o much_o
