that_o christ_n be_v not_o enough_o to_o justification_n unless_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n be_v put_v in_o as_o a_o cause_n also_o and_o if_o this_o shall_v be_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o text_n than_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o the_o galatian_n be_v not_o make_v partaker_n of_o god_n spirit_n by_o the_o corrupt_a doctrine_n that_o be_v teach_v they_o late_o by_o their_o seducer_n but_o before_o while_o they_o do_v receive_v the_o pure_a doctrine_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v their_o folly_n have_v begin_v in_o the_o spirit_n to_o end_v in_o the_o flesh_n this_o may_v be_v a_o probable_a interpretation_n but_o that_o which_o i_o shall_v stand_v upon_o be_v this_o the_o jew_n and_o false_a apostle_n they_o look_v upon_o the_o law_n as_o sufficient_a to_o save_v have_v condemn_v that_o opinion_n yet_o there_o be_v many_o that_o will_v still_o revive_v this_o error_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n in_o this_o epistle_n to_o the_o roman_n and_o in_o that_o to_o the_o galatian_n do_v reprove_v this_o false_a doctrine_n and_o labour_n much_o against_o it_o stapleton_n and_o other_o papist_n they_o think_v that_o the_o controversy_n be_v only_o about_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n and_o this_o they_o do_v to_o maintain_v their_o justification_n by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n when_o wrought_v by_o grace_n but_o though_o it_o must_v be_v grant_v that_o the_o doubt_n about_o keep_v the_o ceremonial_a law_n be_v the_o occasion_n of_o that_o great_a difference_n and_o the_o most_o principal_a thing_n in_o question_n yet_o the_o apostle_n to_o set_v forth_o the_o fullness_n of_o grace_n and_o christ_n do_v extend_v his_o argument_n and_o instance_n even_o to_o the_o moral_a law_n for_o the_o jew_n do_v general_o think_v that_o the_o knowledge_n and_o observation_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n without_o christ_n be_v enough_o for_o their_o peace_n and_o comfort_n that_o the_o apostle_n argue_v against_o the_o law_n in_o their_o abuse_a sense_n of_o it_o be_v plain_a because_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o it_o in_o its_o own_o nature_n he_o commend_v it_o and_o extol_v it_o the_o jew_n because_o they_o have_v the_o law_n give_v they_o in_o such_o a_o divine_a and_o glorious_a manner_n attribute_v too_o much_o to_o themselves_o think_v by_o the_o obedience_n to_o this_o alone_a without_o christ_n to_o be_v justify_v as_o appear_v rome_n 10._o 1._o hence_o the_o apostle_n speak_v against_o it_o in_o their_o sense_n look_v for_o justification_n by_o it_o as_o if_o a_o learned_a man_n confute_v some_o philosopher_n which_o do_v hold_v that_o the_o second_o cause_n do_v work_v by_o their_o own_o proper_a strength_n without_o any_o concourse_n of_o god_n he_o must_v in_o his_o argument_n suppose_v such_o a_o power_n of_o the_o second_o cause_n which_o the_o adversary_n plead_v for_o in_o his_o mind_n and_o in_o expression_n sometime_o yet_o none_o can_v gather_v from_o that_o therefore_o there_o be_v such_o a_o power_n in_o the_o second_o cause_n and_o if_o they_o can_v persuade_v themselves_o that_o the_o external_a perform_n of_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n be_v enough_o to_o make_v they_o acceptable_a with_o god_n though_o they_o live_v in_o gross_a disobedience_n to_o the_o moral_a law_n as_o isai_n 1._o &_o alibi_fw-la it_o many_o time_n appear_v they_o do_v how_o much_o more_o when_o they_o live_v a_o life_n external_o conformable_a to_o the_o moral_a law_n must_v they_o needs_o be_v secure_a of_o their_o favour_n with_o god_n and_o in_o this_o sense_n it_o be_v that_o this_o point_n now_o in_o most_o of_o those_o place_n where_o the_o law_n seem_v to_o be_v abolish_v it_o be_v take_v in_o one_o of_o these_o two_o sense_n either_o first_o synecdochical_o the_o law_n put_v for_o part_n of_o the_o law_n to_o wit_n for_o that_o part_n sense_n which_o actual_o condemn_v and_o accuse_v as_o when_o the_o apostle_n say_v against_o such_o there_o be_v no_o law_n here_o he_o speak_v as_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o a_o law_n but_o condemnation_n whereas_o we_o may_v say_v a_o law_n be_v for_o a_o thing_n by_o way_n of_o direction_n and_o prescription_n as_o well_o as_o against_o a_o thing_n by_o accusation_n or_o second_o the_o word_n law_n be_v put_v for_o the_o ministry_n of_o moses_n which_o dispensation_n be_v far_o inferior_a unto_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o in_o this_o sense_n the_o apostle_n do_v much_o use_n it_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o galatian_n and_o in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n so_o that_o here_o be_v a_o continual_a mistake_n when_o the_o antinomian_o heap_v place_n upon_o place_n which_o seem_v to_o abolish_v the_o law_n and_o do_v not_o first_o declare_v what_o law_n and_o in_o what_o sense_n those_o place_n be_v to_o be_v expound_v 3._o consider_v these_o phrase_n of_o the_o law_n without_o the_o law_n explain_v under_o the_o law_n and_o in_o the_o law_n without_o the_o law_n be_v two_o way_n first_o he_o be_v without_o the_o law_n that_o be_v without_o the_o knowledge_n and_o understanding_n of_o it_o thus_o the_o gentile_n be_v without_o the_o law_n and_o second_o without_o the_o law_n that_o be_v without_o the_o sense_n and_o experience_n of_o the_o accuse_v and_o terrify_v power_n of_o the_o law_n and_o thus_o paul_n rom._n 7._o say_v when_o the_o law_n come_v he_o die_v
