most_o excellent_a which_o render_v any_o so_o acceptable_a upon_o this_o account_n if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o we_o shall_v set_v a_o great_a rate_n upon_o knowledge_n virtue_n and_o wisdom_n above_o what_o we_o set_v upon_o beauty_n and_o riches_n and_o bodily_a strength_n etc._n etc._n because_o they_o commend_v we_o to_o the_o more_o judicious_a rational_a and_o wise_a part_n of_o the_o world_n by_o the_o like_a parity_n of_o reason_n certain_o if_o we_o will_v but_o use_v our_o reason_n and_o according_o form_v our_o judgement_n we_o must_v judge_v the_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n the_o most_o excellent_a quality_n and_o the_o person_n who_o fear_v the_o lord_n the_o most_o excellent_a person_n he_o alone_o be_v the_o jedidiah_n the_o person_n who_o god_n love_v the_o soul_n who_o god_n care_v for_o this_o and_o this_o alone_a be_v that_o which_o commend_v the_o creature_n to_o the_o creator_n four_o that_o be_v the_o most_o excellent_a quality_n which_o direct_v to_o and_o prepare_v the_o soul_n for_o the_o most_o excellent_a end_n there_o be_v a_o end_n to_o which_o the_o wise_a creator_n have_v ordain_v and_o design_v every_o thing_n which_o he_o have_v make_v and_o there_o be_v a_o end_n which_o every_o rational_a agent_n propound_v to_o itself_o in_o work_v and_o there_o be_v a_o end_n or_o issue_n which_o every_o thing_n will_v have_v the_o great_a end_n of_o man_n in_o point_n of_o action_n for_o which_o god_n have_v create_v he_o be_v the_o glorify_v of_o his_o holy_a name_n the_o wise_a man_n say_v god_n make_v all_o thing_n for_o himself_o and_o the_o apostle_n say_v for_o he_o be_v all_o thing_n god_n in_o work_v work_v for_o the_o best_a end_n cause_n he_o can_v work_v for_o no_o great_a wrought_v for_o himself_o the_o apostle_n say_v of_o man_n particular_o we_o be_v create_v in_o christ_n jesus_n unto_o 10._o eph._n 2._o 10._o good_a work_n which_o god_n have_v before_o ordain_v that_o we_o shall_v walk_v in_o they_o man_n great_a end_n in_o point_n of_o fruition_n and_o privilege_n be_v the_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n here_o in_o the_o influence_n of_o grace_n hereafter_o in_o the_o beatifical_a vision_n of_o his_o glory_n there_o now_o be_v the_o great_a end_n of_o man_n the_o end_n for_o which_o god_n have_v create_v he_o and_o which_o the_o wise_a sort_n of_o man_n will_v propound_v to_o themselves_o beside_o these_o great_a end_n of_o man_n there_o be_v also_o some_o little_a end_n of_o humane_a action_n to_o which_o man_n direct_v much_o of_o their_o action_n such_o as_o the_o obtain_n of_o a_o comfortable_a be_v and_o subsistence_n in_o this_o life_n etc._n etc._n a_o end_n though_o in_o itself_o considerable_a yet_o exceed_o little_a in_o comparison_n with_o the_o former_a as_o every_o one_o will_v judge_v who_o have_v but_o learned_a to_o compare_v time_n with_o eternity_n and_o the_o soul_n with_o the_o body_n and_o outward_a man_n take_v now_o all_o those_o other_o thing_n before_o mention_v as_o thing_n either_o in_o reality_n or_o vulgar_a estimation_n raise_v the_o price_n of_o one_o mortal_a above_o another_o this_o only_o except_v the_o high_a end_n they_o move_v towards_o which_o they_o dispose_v and_o prepare_v the_o creature_n for_o be_v no_o more_o than_o a_o sweet_a and_o happy_a be_v in_o this_o life_n and_o that_o too_o according_a to_o the_o various_a humour_n of_o man_n as_o one_o fanci_v happiness_n to_o lie_v in_o riches_n a_o second_o in_o pleasure_n a_o three_o in_o intellectual_a or_o moral_a virtue_n bodily_a strength_n and_o health_n be_v great_a blessing_n of_o god_n but_o what_o further_a fruit_n do_v they_o bring_v forth_o than_o what_o taste_v well_o to_o a_o mortal_a palate_n what_o do_v they_o signify_v more_o than_o that_o such_o as_o be_v bless_v with_o they_o pass_v the_o time_n of_o their_o mortality_n with_o less_o pain_n sorrow_n and_o trouble_n than_o those_o that_o want_v they_o beauty_n be_v a_o amiable_a gift_n but_o have_v it_o any_o further_a influence_n upon_o man_n felicity_n than_o this_o that_o who_o be_v bless_v with_o it_o stand_v in_o a_o near_a capacity_n to_o some_o creature_n favour_n than_o other_o more_o deform_v and_o uncomely_a to_o who_o be_v unite_v by_o marriage_n or_o some_o near_a degree_n of_o affection_n they_o shall_v probable_o in_o the_o world_n have_v a_o life_n of_o more_o content_n pleasure_n and_o outward_a satisfaction_n than_o other_o who_o be_v not_o under_o so_o lovely_a circumstance_n come_v from_o they_o to_o the_o endowment_n of_o the_o mind_n knowledge_n prudence_n a_o diligent_a industrious_a or_o active_a spirit_n etc._n etc._n and_o indeed_o what_o ever_o else_o can_v be_v name_v this_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n only_o except_v they_o neither_o direct_v the_o soul_n to_o its_o best_a and_o noble_a end_n nor_o any_o way_n prepare_v and_o dispose_v it_o for_o the_o obtain_n of_o it_o unless_o in_o a_o very_a remote_a capacity_n what_o be_v the_o issue_n of_o knowledge_n wisdom_n but_o this_o that_o the_o person_n thus_o far_o bless_v stand_v upon_o better_a ground_n to_o live_v in_o the_o world_n than_o other_o man_n as_o well_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o satisfaction_n these_o habit_n give_v to_o the_o mind_n as_o of_o the_o light_n that_o arise_v from_o they_o to_o direct_v a_o man_n converse_n and_o the_o usefulness_n of_o such_o a_o person_n unto_o other_o the_o same_o may_v be_v say_v of_o moral_a virtue_n riches_n honour_n great_a relation_n etc._n etc._n they_o none_o of_o they_o look_v beyond_o this_o life_n nor_o contribute_v any_o thing_n to_o a_o happiness_n beyond_o it_o nay_o it_o be_v yet_o something_o if_o they_o perfect_o bless_v a_o man_n so_o long_o as_o he_o be_v circumseribe_v with_o the_o limit_n of_o time_n and_o mortality_n but_o how_o little_a do_v they_o if_o i_o shall_v evidence_n they_o come_v short_a of_o this_o than_o which_o there_o be_v nothing_o of_o more_o easy_a demonstration_n for_o to_o we_o who_o be_v christian_n there_o be_v something_o more_o require_v even_o to_o such_o a_o happiness_n than_o a_o affluence_n of_o worldly_a contentment_n we_o know_v and_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n that_o this_o god_n be_v the_o chief_a good_a and_o consequent_o build_v upon_o the_o rational_a principle_n of_o all_o philosopher_n we_o
