unbelief_n thwart_o conscience_n press_v to_o such_o a_o duty_n as_o suppose_v it_o be_v a_o duty_n that_o have_v many_o difficulty_n attend_v it_o as_o hazard_v of_o life_n or_o of_o state_n of_o it_o may_v be_v remove_v also_o it_o be_v true_a that_o as_o in_o other_o case_n so_o in_o this_o it_o be_v not_o ordinary_a nor_o common_a for_o god_n to_o afflict_v his_o people_n with_o darkness_n without_o some_o sinful_a cause_n and_o we_o may_v easy_o know_v that_o among_o man_n who_o have_v corruption_n in_o they_o there_o be_v no_o trial_n that_o come_v on_o they_o but_o there_o be_v some_o cause_n in_o themselves_o that_o may_v procure_v it_o and_o so_o may_v keep_v they_o in_o the_o dark_a if_o god_n shall_v narrow_o mark_v it_o and_o hence_o we_o may_v gather_v that_o it_o be_v very_o difficult_a to_o discern_v right_o by_o clear_a evidence_n the_o one_o of_o these_o from_o the_o other_o yet_o we_o think_v in_o every_o case_n it_o be_v not_o absolute_o necessary_a for_o godly_a person_n to_o conclude_v a_o design_a controversy_n for_o sin_n though_o they_o can_v never_o go_v wrong_a to_o take_v with_o sin_n albeit_o yet_o they_o will_v not_o always_o bind_v it_o on_o that_o if_o it_o be_v a_o effect_n of_o sin_n or_o of_o anger_n for_o sin_n it_o shall_v look_v like_a anger_n then_o when_o it_o be_v a_o effect_n of_o god_n mere_a sovereignty_n which_o may_v stand_v well_o with_o his_o be_v in_o good_a term_n with_o that_o person_n who_o he_o so_o try_v second_o we_o think_v the_o hide_v of_o god_n face_n and_o silence_n of_o conscience_n when_o it_o proceed_v from_o sin_n as_o the_o cause_n ready_o point_v out_o some_o particular_a ground_n of_o challenge_n for_o which_o the_o conscience_n keep_v silence_n it_o have_v a_o word_n of_o reproof_n with_o it_o for_o some_o particular_a fault_n as_o in_o that_o same_o place_n you_o have_v do_v this_o and_o this_o say_v the_o lord_n though_o i_o have_v bring_v you_o out_o of_o the_o land_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v ask_v at_o it_o yet_o it_o will_v give_v a_o reason_n wherefore_o it_o answer_v not_o and_o will_v point_v at_o somewhat_o that_o may_v make_v it_o know_v that_o there_o be_v sweet_a submission_n and_o patience_n 4_o person_n will_v take_v a_o reflect_v look_v on_o the_o frame_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n before_o their_o darkness_n come_v on_o they_o 〈◊〉_d they_o be_v careless_a and_o carnal_a secure_a untender_a and_o remiss_a in_o stir_v up_o themselves_o to_o obtain_v light_n from_o god_n if_o darkness_n or_o any_o other_o affliction_n come_v on_o they_o in_o such_o a_o case_n it_o speak_v this_o that_o they_o be_v sad_o surprise_v in_o that_o distemper_n but_o if_o it_o come_v on_o they_o at_o such_o a_o time_n when_o they_o have_v a_o testimony_n within_o they_o that_o they_o be_v make_v conscience_n of_o their_o duty_n it_o will_v seem_v to_o say_v that_o god_n be_v not_o look_v so_o much_o at_o their_o sin_n as_o to_o some_o sovereign_a time_n yet_o before_o god_n leave_v he_o he_o calm_v he_o and_o make_v he_o lay_v his_o hand_n on_o his_o mouth_n chap._n 40._o and_o 42._o 3_o that_o even_o then_o though_o person_n may_v discompose_v and_o put_v themselves_o through_o other_o because_o they_o have_v not_o carry_v suitable_o and_o fair_a under_o the_o exercise_n yet_o there_o will_v be_v some_o honest_a testimony_n of_o sincerity_n when_o they_o look_v back_o to_o their_o carriage_n before_o and_o even_o in_o the_o time_n for_o sovereignty_n in_o such_o exercise_n will_v not_o prejudge_v his_o people_n interest_n in_o he_o therefore_o you_o see_v that_o job_n be_v clear_a and_o resolve_v in_o this_o that_o he_o will_v retain_v his_o integrity_n last_o we_o will_v come_v to_o show_v you_o what_o be_v take_v such_o notice_n of_o it_o you_o see_v job_n do_v this_o when_o he_o say_v to_o the_o lord_n thou_o make_v i_o to_o possess_v the_o sin_n of_o my_o youth_n we_o will_v look_v well_o to_o this_o and_o set_v ourselves_o serious_o to_o have_v our_o peace_n make_v up_o again_o with_o god_n and_o to_o come_v by_o the_o intimation_n of_o the_o pardon_n of_o these_o particular_a sin_n that_o if_o so_o be_v our_o darkness_n continue_v we_o may_v have_v some_o quietness_n of_o conscience_n and_o this_o may_v also_o be_v the_o way_n for_o win_v to_o the_o other_o it_o be_v sure_a very_o suitable_a that_o when_o a_o person_n be_v in_o the_o dark_a as_o to_o some_o one_o particular_a duty_n sober_o to_o consider_v how_o often_o conscience_n speak_v and_o i_o take_v but_o little_a notice_n of_o it_o how_o little_a conscience_n i_o make_v to_o practice_v clear_a duty_n and_o therefore_o i_o be_o just_o bemi_v and_o in_o the_o dark_a as_o to_o this_o this_o help_n to_o humble_a un_fw-we couth_a temptation_n or_o the_o prevail_a of_o some_o gross_a corruption_n or_o the_o lie_v on_o of_o some_o extraordinary_a and_o un_fw-fr hear_v of_o cross_n and_o affliction_n but_o the_o single_a design_n of_o have_v a_o good_a conscience_n and_o of_o get_v it_o entertain_v will_v put_v we_o not_o only_o to_o pray_v ourselves_o but_o also_o to_o desire_v the_o help_n of_o the_o prayer_n of_o other_o always_o this_o be_v a_o most_o certain_a truth_n that_o as_o a_o good_a conscience_n be_v not_o attain_v without_o prayer_n so_o it_o be_v not_o entertain_v but_o by_o prayer_n and_o it_o be_v indeed_o a_o wonder_n how_o many_o can_v boast_v of_o a_o good_a conscience_n and_o yet_o neglect_v prayer_n themselves_o and_o undervalue_v the_o prayer_n of_o other_o for_o they_o
