must_v be_v to_o believe_v that_o our_o lord_n god_n will_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v what_o we_o ask_v and_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o ask_v that_o we_o may_v thereby_o be_v dispose_v to_o his_o service_n for_o bless_a be_v the_o bread_n which_o he_o eat_v who_o eat_v to_o this_o end_n that_o he_o may_v live_v and_o live_a may_v be_v employ_v in_o increase_v in_o the_o love_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o god_n for_o so_o the_o ask_n of_o bread_n and_o whatsoever_o else_o with_o a_o such_o motive_n be_v much_o esteem_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n beside_o of_o such_o a_o mind_n we_o must_v be_v that_o if_o we_o think_v it_o not_o acceptable_a unto_o god_n that_o we_o obtain_v that_o which_o we_o most_o desire_v forthwith_o as_o much_o as_o be_v in_o we_o we_o must_v neither_o desire_v nor_o ask_v it_o the_o hungry_a soul_n for_o the_o most_o part_n by_o the_o famine_n that_o oppress_v he_o be_v move_v to_o ask_v bread_n but_o so_o be_v not_o he_o who_o right_o be_v that_o our_o soul_n have_v attain_v to_o a_o habit_n of_o ask_v that_o which_o god_n desire_v above_o any_o other_o thing_n and_o exercise_v by_o many_o act_n of_o so_o ask_v it_o not_o chief_o for_o our_o own_o good_a but_o for_o that_o his_o most_o holy_a will_n be_v most_o worthy_a to_o be_v desire_v above_o all_o desireable_n whatsoever_o we_o shall_v ask_v let_v it_o be_v immix_v and_o interweave_v with_o such_o a_o habit_n and_o all_o the_o word_n of_o our_o prayer_n let_v they_o be_v join_v to_o the_o act_n of_o willing_a and_o desire_v whatsoever_o we_o shall_v ask_v for_o this_o cause_n that_o god_n desire_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v it_o whereby_o we_o may_v thus_o become_v his_o more_o acceptable_a servant_n and_o have_v the_o great_a love_n towards_o he_o happy_a be_v they_o that_o can_v thus_o pray_v for_o in_o few_o day_n they_o shall_v grow_v to_o be_v potent_a man_n in_o the_o lord_n to_o perform_v all_o the_o foresay_a thing_n be_v necessary_a the_o 2._o and_o ask_v and_o feel_v in_o his_o prayer_n some_o â—â—dste_v of_o sweetness_n and_o divine_a love_n now_o some_o think_v this_o prayer_n to_o proceed_v from_o a_o perfect_a motive_n and_o scope_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o albeit_o the_o prayer_n be_v devout_a and_o good_a but_o if_o you_o ask_v what_o it_o want_v i_o answer_v there_o be_v this_o want_v that_o he_o ask_v not_o of_o love_n albeit_o with_o love_n therefore_o i_o say_v it_o suffice_v not_o that_o the_o motive_n be_v perfect_a that_o he_o love_v and_o have_v all_o other_o thing_n but_o he_o must_v also_o be_v move_v to_o ask_v of_o love_n and_o not_o for_o the_o love_n of_o the_o thing_n desire_v albeit_o yet_o even_o the_o love_n of_o the_o thing_n may_v be_v keep_v with_o much_o perfection_n so_o that_o in_o act_v it_o be_v resire_v to_o this_o that_o therefore_o it_o may_v be_v love_v because_o god_n will_v that_o we_o shall_v love_v that_o thing_n which_o now_o be_v not_o so_o in_o the_o former_a kind_n and_o therefore_o exceed_v the_o bound_n of_o prayer_n therefore_o many_o consider_v this_o have_v come_v to_o know_v that_o the_o love_n of_o themselves_o be_v hide_v under_o the_o shadow_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o that_o it_o be_v true_a that_o albeit_o they_o love_v god_n yet_o be_v they_o not_o move_v with_o this_o love_n in_o act_n while_o they_o pray_v but_o with_o the_o love_n of_o themselves_o albeit_o not_o with_o a_o ill_a love_n whereby_o they_o be_v move_v to_o ask_v that_o which_o they_o do_v because_o it_o be_v good_a this_o will_v be_v more_o easy_o understand_v by_o that_o which_o often_o fall_v out_o among_o such_o as_o love_v one_o another_o that_o one_o ask_v something_o of_o another_o and_o that_o with_o the_o love_n wherewith_o he_o love_v he_o yet_o not_o of_o or_o for_o the_o love_n which_o he_o have_v towards_o he_o of_o who_o he_o ask_v but_o for_o the_o love_n of_o himself_o and_o his_o own_o benefit_n therefore_o as_o before_o be_v say_v we_o must_v not_o ask_v so_o of_o god_n but_o we_o must_v ask_v with_o and_o for_o his_o love_n that_o be_v we_o must_v actual_o perceive_v a_o desire_n of_o obtain_v that_o we_o ask_v whereby_o god_n by_o that_o may_v receive_v from_o we_o a_o acceptable_a obedience_n sure_o great_a and_o necessary_a be_v the_o attention_n that_o we_o may_v know_v the_o difference_n of_o these_o love_n for_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n necessary_a to_o be_v know_v and_o many_o think_v they_o have_v go_v aright_o in_o this_o business_n but_o look_v near_o into_o the_o thing_n they_o have_v find_v it_o to_o be_v only_o the_o imagination_n of_o the_o true_a love_n of_o god_n and_o themselves_o to_o be_v far_o from_o it_o indeed_o he_o therefore_o believe_v and_o know_v himself_o to_o be_v in_o the_o right_a way_n who_o continual_o build_v as_o upon_o his_o guide_n in_o the_o way_n upon_o a_o actual_a desire_n of_o obtain_v by_o prayer_n these_o or_o these_o grace_n that_o god_n may_v rejoice_v to_o see_v he_o so_o beautify_v and_o that_o he_o may_v grow_v in_o his_o love_n and_o although_o at_o the_o begin_n of_o this_o exercise_n many_o shall_v not_o only_o feel_v that_o they_o do_v not_o increase_v in_o devotion_n but_o rather_o to_o have_v make_v shipwreck_n of_o that_o which_o they_o have_v before_o for_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v much_o grieve_v in_o their_o soul_n yet_o let_v they_o go_v on_o cheerful_o in_o this_o great_a work_n and_o let_v they_o not_o admire_v that_o they_o feel_v this_o diminution_n of_o devotion_n for_o in_o that_o he_o find_v in_o himself_o this_o coldness_n and_o indevotion_n he_o shall_v perform_v a_o far_o more_o worthy_a duty_n than_o before_o while_o he_o seem_v to_o taste_v a_o great_a sweetness_n and_o contentment_n for_o this_o contentment_n be_v wont_a fit_o observe_v first_o that_o so_o much_o time_n every_o day_n be_v to_o be_v assign_v to_o this_o exercise_n as_o the_o condition_n and_o state_n of_o the_o party_n may_v well_o spare_v second_o for_o no_o cause_n nor_o upon_o any_o occasion_n to_o omit_v this_o time_n or_o put_v it_o off_o unto_o another_o season_n but_o to_o persuade_v himself_o that_o this_o exercise_n be_v far_o more_o worthy_a than_o any_o other_o though_o never_o so_o beneficial_a three_o if_o urgent_a necessity_n enforce_v the_o interruption_n of_o this_o time_n to_o repair_v that_o loss_n some_o other_o hour_n of_o the_o day_n if_o it_o possible_a four_o that_o the_o best_a hour_n for_o prayer_n be_v midnight_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o quietness_n thereof_o next_o to_o that_o be_v the_o morning_n timely_a before_o we_o set_v hand_n to_o any_o business_n for_o that_o will_v season_v the_o labour_n of_o the_o whole_a day_n

dangerous_a disease_n and_o stand_v much_o more_o need_n of_o that_o meat_n or_o physic_n here_o he_o that_o be_v first_o sick_a be_v unmindful_a of_o his_o sickness_n how_o great_a soever_o and_o of_o that_o desire_n he_o have_v to_o it_o for_o his_o own_o sake_n begin_v now_o to_o desire_v the_o same_o and_o to_o procure_v it_o not_o to_o himself_o but_o to_o his_o friend_n so_o that_o the_o love_n to_o his_o friend_n make_v he_o desire_v and_o procure_v that_o which_o be_v needful_a for_o himself_o not_o to_o satisfy_v his_o own_o necessity_n but_o the_o necessity_n of_o his_o friend_n so_o that_o after_o he_o have_v by_o sundry_a way_n busy_v himself_o find_v it_o he_o perceive_v in_o his_o mind_n a_o certain_a boil_a desire_n to_o get_v it_o for_o his_o friend_n as_o forget_v that_o he_o need_v it_o himself_o and_o have_v get_v it_o rejoice_v great_o that_o the_o will_n and_o necessity_n of_o his_o friend_n be_v satisfy_v the_o like_a aught_o it_o to_o be_v to_o he_o that_o shall_v move_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n to_o every_o desire_n and_o work_v even_o the_o like_a by_o all_o mean_n namely_o that_o in_o his_o soul_n he_o feel_v a_o instinct_n whereby_o to_o desire_v and_o do_v that_o be_v good_a but_o that_o desire_n must_v be_v because_o god_n will_v that_o the_o thing_n be_v do_v and_o by_o that_o lead_v a_o man_n to_o perform_v obedience_n to_o he_o as_o if_o it_o be_v very_o necessary_a to_o he_o and_o ever_o forget_v that_o by_o these_o virtue_n which_o he_o seek_v desire_a or_o wrought_v he_o shall_v attain_v glory_n and_o salvation_n for_o will_v have_v we_o to_o desire_v and_o have_v they_o and_o that_o in_o have_v they_o we_o may_v love_v he_o and_o after_o a_o excellent_a manner_n serve_v he_o and_o not_o for_o our_o own_o profit_n joy_n or_o glory_n and_o so_o great_a be_v the_o magnificence_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n that_o by_o how_o much_o as_o we_o do_v in_o this_o manner_n the_o more_o desire_n or_o do_v any_o good_a thing_n so_o much_o more_o shall_v be_v our_o glory_n in_o heaven_n this_o instruction_n i_o confess_v may_v seem_v unto_o many_o to_o be_v full_a of_o difficulty_n but_o sure_o the_o beginning_n of_o all_o thing_n do_v appear_v to_o be_v such_o to_o all_o beginner_n for_o they_o judge_v they_o shall_v never_o attain_v to_o that_o they_o have_v begin_v but_o yet_o so_o long_o do_v they_o exercise_v themselves_o in_o those_o thing_n that_o by_o continual_a exercise_n they_o become_v master_n where_o at_o first_o they_o dare_v not_o call_v themselves_o scholar_n and_o observe_v it_o for_o truth_n that_o if_o any_o man_n have_v a_o will_n inflame_v with_o devotion_n he_o shall_v do_v all_o these_o thing_n with_o such_o facility_n that_o in_o a_o sinall_z space_n of_o time_n he_o may_v seem_v to_o have_v do_v wonderful_a thing_n but_o unto_o he_o who_o be_v not_o enkindle_v with_o so_o great_a a_o flame_n of_o devotion_n this_o must_v be_v a_o rule_n which_o we_o now_o lie_v down_o wherein_o shall_v distinct_o be_v touch_v the_o manner_n and_o reason_n which_o he_o must_v observe_v in_o attain_v unto_o it_o let_v a_o man_n on_o the_o one_o side_n propose_v god_n as_o his_o chief_a friend_n and_o himself_o on_o the_o other_o side_n when_o the_o will_n be_v move_v to_o desire_v any_o virtue_n or_o profitable_a thing_n let_v a_o man_n consider_v with_o what_o end_n he_o it_o move_v and_o he_o shall_v perceive_v for_o the_o most_o part_n that_o he_o be_v move_v either_o with_o fear_n of_o punishment_n or_o love_n of_o glory_n and_o virtue_n now_o this_o motive_n ought_v not_o to_o satisfy_v we_o although_o it_o be_v not_o evil_a but_o see_v man_n will_n prevent_v and_o assist_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n have_v so_o much_o freedom_n and_o power_n in_o some_o measure_n as_o to_o forsake_v the_o one_o and_o choose_v the_o other_o and_o see_v we_o know_v the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o be_v much_o more_o excellent_a and_o more_o worthy_a to_o move_v we_o than_o our_o own_o will_n we_o must_v now_o forbear_v to_o be_v move_v after_o that_o manner_n as_o we_o have_v be_v and_o turn_v all_o our_o will_n to_o desire_v the_o same_o thing_n after_o the_o best_a manner_n namely_o because_o he_o will_v have_v it_o so_o who_o be_v worthy_a of_o all_o obedience_n sure_o he_o shall_v of_o right_a account_n himself_o vile_a and_o wretched_a who_o desire_v or_o do_v any_o thing_n move_v thereunto_o with_o a_o natural_a desire_n albeit_o the_o thing_n be_v good_a and_o holy_a see_v he_o have_v ever_o the_o will_n of_o god_n present_a before_o he_o which_o shall_v move_v he_o ever_o to_o will_n and_o desire_n but_o chief_o see_v god_n give_v ever_o such_o strength_n as_o that_o one_o may_v forsake_v his_o own_o will_n as_o it_o be_v stir_v up_o with_o a_o natural_a desire_n albeit_o a_o good_a desire_n and_o be_v move_v with_o a_o heavenly_a desire_n and_o so_o much_o difference_n there_o be_v betwixt_o these_o two_o scope_n and_o motive_n that_o nothing_o in_o this_o world_n differ_v more_o from_o another_o than_o these_o two_o do_v the_o one_o from_o the_o other_o so_o that_o the_o one_o of_o these_o be_v incomparable_o more_o excellent_a than_o another_o as_o the_o sun_n exceed_v the_o brightness_n of_o a_o candle_n the_o sea_n a_o drop_n of_o water_n infinite_a talent_n of_o gold_n a_o piece_n of_o lead_n therefore_o let_v we_o ever_o endeavour_n to_o desire_v and_o work_v be_v move_v with_o so_o happy_a a_o end_n and_o motive_n see_v the_o divine_a goodness_n most_o desirous_a of_o our_o advancement_n and_o glory_n do_v bind_v un_o to_o do_v all_o our_o work_n corporal_a and_o spiritual_a great_a and_o small_a proceed_v from_o the_o body_n or_o the_o soul_n even_o such_o as_o be_v do_v according_a to_o our_o natural_a disposition_n to_o do_v they_o i_o say_v only_o because_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n we_o shall_v do_v they_o for_o all_o our_o action_n from_o the_o least_o to_o the_o great_a serve_v for_o the_o conservation_n of_o this_o natural_a life_n and_o as_o we_o can_v forsake_v they_o so_o in_o use_v they_o for_o the_o love_n of_o god_n they_o much_o further_a to_o the_o increase_n of_o a_o holy_a and_o happy_a life_n and_o so_o the_o least_o and_o mean_a work_n we_o do_v be_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n of_o more_o worth_n than_o the_o best_a and_o high_a action_n perform_v of_o he_o that_o have_v not_o the_o same_o scope_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n wonderful_a and_o worthy_a of_o
no_o word_n which_o can_v manifest_v the_o joy_n he_o find_v in_o his_o heart_n who_o soul_n with_o the_o whole_a heart_n shall_v thus_o say_v oh_o what_o a_o infinite_a good_a do_v i_o possess_v see_v god_n which_o be_v more_o i_o or_o more_o mine_n than_o i_o be_o my_o own_o do_v possess_v so_o infinite_a good_a thing_n who_o i_o now_o see_v albeit_o imperfect_o yet_o i_o seek_v he_o and_o be_v the_o affection_n of_o the_o mind_n all_o man_n have_v so_o that_o it_o be_v natural_a as_o well_o to_o heathen_n as_o christian_n in_o so_o much_o that_o as_o we_o see_v it_o be_v natural_a as_o well_o to_o the_o one_o as_o the_o other_o to_o rejoice_v and_o to_o fear_v so_o shall_v we_o see_v the_o heathen_a hope_n for_o diverse_a thing_n as_o well_o as_o the_o christian_a of_o this_o hope_n which_o be_v no_o virtue_n but_o a_o affection_n common_a to_o all_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o albeit_o we_o be_v incline_v to_o hope_n for_o many_o thing_n often_o yet_o nothing_o ought_v to_o reave_v in_o our_o heart_n to_o be_v hope_v for_o beside_o god_n and_o those_o thing_n by_o which_o we_o think_v we_o may_v the_o better_o draw_v near_o to_o god_n to_o serve_v he_o for_o whatsoever_o thing_n else_o we_o must_v think_v to_o be_v of_o no_o worth_n anâ—_n if_o at_o any_o time_n we_o see_v the_o hope_n of_o any_o thing_n to_o fix_v itself_o more_o in_o our_o heart_n than_o felicity_n they_o nor_o true_o and_o right_o affect_v towards_o they_o there_o be_v no_o man_n live_v have_v so_o sound_a a_o knowledge_n of_o truth_n and_o falsehood_n good_a and_o evil_a as_o have_v the_o devil_n his_o knowledge_n herein_o be_v far_o more_o perfect_a and_o full_a than_o any_o man_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o there_o be_v no_o man_n do_v hate_v truth_n and_o goodness_n nor_o rejoice_v more_o at_o falsehood_n and_o mischief_n than_o he_o do_v which_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o make_v his_o sin_n and_o punishment_n the_o more_o grievous_a therefore_o see_v it_o neither_o suffice_v to_o hear_v and_o understand_v sermon_n but_o withal_o that_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n must_v be_v place_v upon_o they_o we_o will_v here_o as_o in_o the_o former_a duty_n discourse_n first_o of_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o duty_n second_o remove_v the_o impediment_n three_o show_v the_o advancement_n and_o help_n conduct_v to_o it_o 1_o the_o right_a affection_n of_o the_o heart_n towards_o the_o thing_n in_o sermon_n perceive_v and_o understand_v be_v the_o three_o duty_n of_o the_o hearer_n at_o the_o sermon_n whereby_o he_o do_v cheerful_o entertain_v true_a and_o good_a thing_n present_a certain_o believe_v they_o to_o come_v and_o hope_n and_o hearty_o desire_v they_o but_o for_o thing_n wicked_a and_o false_a in_o the_o present_a he_o sorrowful_o show_v himself_o averse_a from_o they_o and_o fear_n and_o forsake_v wicked_a and_o false_a thing_n to_o come_v and_o this_o duty_n appertain_v to_o the_o information_n of_o the_o will_n affection_n and_o conscience_n of_o the_o hearer_n and_o sure_o not_o without_o great_a cause_n ought_v our_o heart_n to_o be_v right_o and_o holy_o affect_v towards_o the_o thing_n understand_v in_o regard_n of_o the_o sundry_a sort_n of_o man_n who_o hear_v and_o understand_v sermon_n but_o yet_o stand_v nothing_o well_o affect_v towards_o they_o first_o there_o be_v some_o man_n who_o even_o at_o the_o sermon_n do_v give_v very_o evident_a argument_n either_o by_o their_o word_n or_o behaviour_n that_o they_o be_v the_o manifest_a enemy_n of_o truth_n and_o virtue_n and_o the_o friend_n of_o falsehood_n and_o vice_n these_o man_n affection_n towards_o the_o word_n be_v nothing_o right_a second_o there_o be_v certain_a hypocrite_n who_o albeit_o by_o their_o word_n and_o gesture_n make_v a_o fair_a show_n of_o the_o love_n of_o truth_n and_o goodness_n and_o the_o hatred_n of_o falsehood_n and_o wickedness_n yet_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o upright_o three_o other_o do_v think_v that_o if_o they_o carry_v the_o truth_n and_o virtue_n hide_v in_o their_o heart_n albeit_o in_o word_n and_o deed_n they_o carry_v themselves_o otherwise_o that_o they_o can_v be_v accuse_v of_o the_o un-uprightnesse_n and_o pravity_n of_o their_o heart_n but_o these_o have_v not_o a_o right_a hart_n four_o there_o be_v some_o that_o albeit_o they_o understand_v not_o sound_o and_o full_o the_o thing_n hear_v yet_o be_v angry_a with_o the_o true_a and_o good_a thing_n and_o be_v delight_v with_o the_o false_a and_o wicked_a thing_n nor_o yet_o have_v these_o man_n any_o right_a affection_n five_o some_o on_o the_o other_o side_n albeit_o they_o do_v sound_o know_v the_o thing_n they_o hear_v insomuch_o that_o they_o can_v say_v nothing_o against_o it_o yet_o have_v thing_n false_a and_o evil_o take_v such_o deep_a root_n in_o they_o and_o so_o prevail_v by_o the_o long_a custom_n they_o have_v have_v with_o they_o that_o they_o have_v rather_o quite_o forsake_v that_o which_o be_v true_a and_o good_a then_o cast_v away_o their_o inveterate_a and_o ancient_a error_n and_o manner_n and_o who_o can_v say_v that_o these_o man_n have_v a_o right_a affection_n six_o but_o other_o be_v so_o take_v up_o with_o the_o care_n of_o the_o belly_n and_o worldly_a thing_n and_o be_v so_o much_o estrange_v from_o suffer_a persecution_n for_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o virtue_n that_o they_o will_v in_o no_o wise_n entertain_v either_o virtue_n or_o truth_n and_o these_o man_n affection_n be_v much_o less_o right_a than_o the_o rest_n and_o therefore_o a_o right_a affection_n and_o good_a heart_n towards_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v hear_v be_v a_o most_o necessary_a duty_n of_o hear_v 2_o there_o be_v some_o impediment_n and_o hindrance_n of_o this_o right_a affection_n unto_o thing_n know_v which_o of_o necessity_n must_v be_v remove_v now_o we_o must_v know_v that_o whatsoever_o thing_n do_v hinder_v the_o attentive_a hear_n and_o sound_a understanding_n of_o the_o word_n those_o mean_v diligent_o &_o prudent_o to_o move_v inflame_v and_o direct_v the_o affection_n to_o that_o which_o be_v true_a and_o good_a and_o on_o the_o other-side_n to_o withdraw_v they_o from_o thing_n false_a and_o evil_a second_o say_v he_o do_v his_o duty_n yet_o if_o the_o hearer_n either_o by_o natural_a corruption_n and_o malice_n of_o the_o will_n be_v averse_a from_o the_o present_a truth_n and_o good_a of_o virtue_n and_o do_v glad_o embrace_v that_o which_o be_v false_a and_o evil_a and_o fall_v into_o doubt_v of_o that_o which_o be_v true_a and_o good_a to_o come_v and_o do_v not_o desire_v it_o nor_o be_v trouble_v with_o that_o which_o be_v false_a and_o evil_a either_o if_o that_o the_o hearer_n be_v infect_v with_o inveterate_a and_o evil_a manner_n which_o be_v please_v to_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n and_o be_v easy_o conceive_v but_o not_o so_o easy_o cast_v off_o or_o with_o the_o outward_a gloss_n of_o good_a thing_n as_o of_o riches_n pleasure_n and_o honour_n and_o of_o evil_a thing_n as_o of_o calumny_n condemnation_n and_o persecution_n and_o so_o to_o be_v withdraw_v from_o a_o right_a affection_n towards_o truth_n and_o virtue_n and_o incline_v to_o a_o affection_n towards_o lie_n and_o vice_n or_o to_o hypocritical_a dissimulation_n then_o be_v the_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n much_o blur_v and_o dis-ordered_n and_o so_o be_v the_o thing_n they_o hear_v not_o right_o affect_v 3_o the_o advancement_n and_o help_n of_o this_o duty_n be_v no_o other_o but_o such_o as_o be_v prescribe_v in_o the_o help_n of_o the_o two_o former_a duty_n of_o attentive_a hear_n and_o sound_a understanding_n where_o the_o reader_n may_v be_v furnish_v with_o mean_n sufficient_a to_o promote_v this_o duty_n yet_o to_o help_v the_o right_a affection_n 1.22.23.24.25.26_o be_v you_o doer_n of_o the_o word_n and_o not_o hearer_n only_o deceive_v your_o own_o self_n etc._n etc._n where_o he_o admonish_v that_o it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o hear_v and_o understand_v sermon_n and_o to_o be_v affect_v towards_o they_o with_o a_o changeable_a and_o temporary_a affection_n except_o there_o be_v add_v withal_o a_o firm_a and_o fast_o purpose_n of_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o in_o our_o whole_a life_n therefore_o as_o we_o have_v in_o the_o former_a duty_n so_o here_o we_o will_v brief_o show_v first_o the_o nature_n of_o this_o settle_a purpose_n of_o practice_n second_o the_o impediment_n of_o it_o three_o the_o advancement_n and_o help_n of_o it_o 1_o this_o serious_a purpose_n of_o the_o practice_n of_o good_a thing_n hear_v know_v and_o approve_a be_v a_o grace_n give_v whereby_o the_o hearer_n do_v not_o only_o resolve_v with_o a_o faithful_a heart_n that_o he_o will_v apply_v unto_o himself_o and_o the_o use_n and_o edification_n of_o other_o in_o every_o sermon_n and_o in_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o his_o life_n every_o profitable_a doctrine_n hear_v know_v and_o approve_a in_o every_o state_n as_o well_o prosperity_n as_o adversity_n before_o in_o and_o after_o all_o his_o action_n but_o chief_o in_o perplex_a and_o intricate_a question_n and_o objection_n most_o of_o all_o in_o the_o stratagem_n and_o temptation_n of_o satan_n so_o that_o it_o appear_v this_o part_n of_o the_o hearer_n duty_n belong_v to_o the_o information_n of_o life_n and_o practice_n and_o have_v his_o original_n from_o the_o other_o three_o duty_n and_o not_o without_o cause_n be_v it_o call_v a_o serious_a and_o resolute_a purpose_n of_o practice_n see_v so_o many_o vice_n do_v main_o oppose_v it_o as_o first_o our_o inbred_a hypocrisy_n second_o transitory_a and_o temporary_a application_n in_o time_n of_o prosperity_n three_o vain_a boast_n of_o our_o christian_a profession_n without_o amendment_n of_o therefore_o the_o great_a care_n be_v to_o be_v have_v about_o they_o both_o for_o which_o cause_n it_o will_v be_v very_o fit_v to_o set_v the_o same_o before_o our_o eye_n more_o particular_o that_o every_o hearer_n may_v know_v what_o be_v the_o necessity_n of_o this_o application_n and_o wherein_o it_o consist_v it_o be_v a_o thing_n most_o undoubted_a that_o the_o use_n and_o application_n of_o most_o holy_a man_n as_o also_o by_o reason_n daily_a use_n and_o experience_n itself_o so_o that_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o to_o get_v the_o practice_n thereof_o there_o be_v great_a care_n diligence_n and_o desire_n require_v of_o every_o man_n to_o the_o happy_a learning_n of_o this_o holy_a art_n there_o be_v two_o schoolmaster_n very_o necessary_a first_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o exercise_n or_o to_o continue_v in_o it_o with_o that_o benefit_n which_o be_v to_o be_v expect_v from_o it_o and_o this_o exercise_n come_v very_o near_o the_o nature_n of_o prayer_n if_o we_o define_v prayer_n chrys_n chrys_n as_o some_o of_o the_o father_n have_v do_v to_o be_v a_o colloquy_n and_o speech_n with_o god_n or_o a_o ascend_n of_o the_o mind_n towards_o god_n damas_n damas_n those_o that_o be_v altogether_o unwilling_a much_o less_o such_o as_o reluct_v and_o strive_v against_o it_o nor_o let_v any_o think_v this_o sweet_a yoke_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o be_v heavy_a in_o spend_v so_o much_o time_n to_o attain_v so_o high_a and_o heavenly_a wisdom_n whereby_o to_o use_v this_o method_n of_o serve_v god_n aright_o for_o if_o usual_o man_n spend_v three_o four_o or_o more_o year_n in_o grammar_n logic_n and_o other_o inferior_a art_n nay_o sometime_o all_o their_o life_n if_o they_o study_v to_o be_v perfect_a in_o it_o how_o much_o better_a shall_v he_o bestow_v his_o whole_a life_n to_o learn_v perfect_o this_o most_o heavenly_a art_n to_o teach_v we_o which_o our_o most_o dear_a and_o heavenly_a master_n jesus_n christ_n come_v down_o from_o heaven_n unto_o we_o and_o with_o so_o much_o labour_n and_o pain_n perform_v it_o therefore_o let_v not_o any_o be_v discourage_v in_o follow_v this_o course_n if_o he_o find_v in_o himself_o many_o disability_n to_o be_v sufficient_a to_o bring_v he_o to_o salvation_n for_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n even_o our_o sanctification_n 4._o 1._o thess_n 4._o and_o not_o our_o sanctification_n for_o some_o short_a time_n or_o in_o some_o one_o part_n of_o body_n or_o soul_n but_o during_o the_o whole_a life_n and_o throughout_o the_o whole_a spirit_n soul_n and_o body_n see_v then_o that_o the_o lover_n of_o the_o world_n be_v never_o satisfy_v with_o riches_n honour_n and_o pleasure_n but_o still_o wish_v and_o seek_v for_o more_o yea_o god_n command_v the_o contrary_a neither_o let_v we_o be_v content_a with_o present_a grace_n and_o virtue_n but_o labour_n for_o a_o increase_n of_o all_o grace_n and_o of_o that_o crown_n of_o glory_n which_o we_o daily_o expect_v see_v god_n so_o earnest_o desire_v that_o we_o shall_v obtain_v it_o and_o if_o so_o be_v our_o mind_n and_o appetite_n be_v not_o therefore_o set_v
memory_n that_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n it_o shall_v be_v a_o thing_n of_o more_o dignity_n to_o eat_v meat_n with_o this_o scope_n and_o motive_n then_o with_o any_o other_o motive_n as_o namely_o that_o we_o enjoy_v the_o glory_n of_o heaven_n to_o fast_o or_o pour_v out_o our_o blood_n for_o the_o truth_n not_o that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o excellent_a thing_n to_o desire_v the_o possession_n of_o heaven_n glory_n but_o for_o that_o this_o motive_n be_v so_o much_o more_o excellent_a than_o the_o other_o as_o the_o whole_a world_n over-values_a a_o nut_n shell_n that_o therefore_o we_o may_v be_v induce_v through_o this_o happy_a motive_n to_o do_v all_o that_o we_o do_v all_o the_o motion_n of_o body_n and_o soul_n bend_v unto_o this_o end_n we_o must_v be_v very_a intent_n that_o we_o never_o pass_v from_o one_o work_n to_o another_o nor_o never_o begin_v any_o work_n until_o we_o feel_v our_o self_n to_o be_v move_v unto_o it_o for_o this_o that_o we_o think_v or_o know_v that_o god_n will_v have_v we_o to_o do_v it_o for_o which_o purpose_n we_o must_v know_v that_o god_n with_o a_o infinite_a jubilee_n and_o desire_n wish_v to_o be_v belove_v or_o possess_v of_o all_o man_n and_o with_o the_o same_o will_n wish_v that_o with_o every_o motion_n of_o love_n which_o in_o every_o moment_n of_o our_o life_n we_o work_v we_o shall_v love_v he_o and_o how_o often_o soever_o we_o shall_v love_v or_o do_v any_o other_o thing_n we_o shall_v do_v it_o be_v attract_v thereunto_o with_o this_o his_o infinite_a will_n so_o that_o this_o be_v the_o rule_n we_o must_v follow_v in_o all_o thing_n that_o whensoever_o we_o will_v do_v any_o thing_n we_o must_v never_o begin_v it_o until_o have_v first_o cast_v our_o eye_n upon_o god_n we_o shall_v perceive_v that_o we_o desire_v this_o for_o the_o infinite_a joy_n which_o he_o have_v of_o this_o our_o good_a work_n which_o be_v sensible_o know_v that_o god_n be_v most_o worthy_a to_o be_v obey_v and_o serve_v in_o this_o so_o sublime_a a_o nature_n then_o obey_v this_o will_n we_o bring_v into_o execution_n whatsoeucr_n we_o determine_v as_o altogether_o forgetful_a of_o our_o own_o good_a for_o just_a it_o be_v that_o his_o bless_a will_n who_o create_v all_o will_n shall_v have_v that_o pre-eminence_n and_o dominion_n over_o all_o will_n that_o not_o only_o they_o shall_v obey_v he_o in_o all_o he_o command_v but_o also_o that_o whatsoever_o we_o do_v we_o shall_v do_v it_o as_o forget_v to_o perform_v our_o own_o proper_a will_n and_o obtain_v our_o own_o glory_n but_o that_o both_o in_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o god_n holy_a will_n may_v be_v fulfil_v without_o any_o other_o respect_n but_o because_o as_o many_o man_n think_v themselves_o rich_a when_o indeed_o they_o be_v but_o poor_a reckon_v their_o chicken_n in_o the_o shell_n so_o many_o think_v they_o feel_v the_o say_a motive_n and_o esteem_v themselves_o to_o have_v do_v great_a thing_n do_v at_o length_n find_v they_o be_v but_o small_a for_o it_o easy_o fall_v out_o that_o one_o consider_v the_o sublimity_n that_o consist_v in_o love_v of_o god_n and_o desirous_a of_o those_o excellent_a and_o true_a good_a thing_n and_o also_o be_v in_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o state_n of_o salvation_n have_v a_o enkindle_a desire_n to_o enjoy_v that_o love_n and_o yet_o that_o desire_n be_v no_o perfect_a work_n for_o albeit_o that_o desire_n be_v of_o a_o thing_n that_o be_v perfect_a yet_o be_v that_o desire_v no_o perfect_a work_n if_o the_o perfect_a motive_n of_o the_o mind_n be_v want_v namely_o that_o such_o desire_n proceed_v from_o a_o strong_a will_v we_o have_v to_o desire_v such_o love_n because_o god_n will_v have_v we_o to_o enjoy_v it_o to_o our_o advauncement_n which_o he_o great_o desire_v the_o same_o that_o we_o say_v of_o this_o desire_n may_v also_o be_v speak_v of_o many_o who_o be_v carry_v with_o a_o great_a zeal_n of_o salvation_n of_o soul_n or_o good_a of_o the_o republic_n and_o such_o as_o be_v hungry_a and_o thirsty_a for_o righteousness_n and_o weep_v for_o the_o evilles_n which_o they_o see_v and_o know_v to_o be_v in_o the_o world_n all_o which_o thing_n be_v good_a but_o yet_o may_v be_v most_o abject_a and_o defective_a if_o they_o want_v the_o say_v true_a motive_n and_o scope_n therefore_o we_o must_v be_v very_o regardful_a that_o whatsoever_o we_o do_v we_o be_v move_v unto_o it_o with_o this_o motive_n and_o that_o we_o have_v speak_v of_o these_o word_n aught_o to_o be_v understand_v and_o practise_v in_o all_o those_o infinite_a motion_n which_o do_v offer_v themselves_o to_o the_o soul_n of_o what_o kind_n soever_o yea_o in_o the_o resist_n of_o every_o temptation_n for_o we_o must_v so_o labour_v that_o god_n will_v may_v reign_v in_o we_o as_o that_o nothing_o must_v arise_v from_o our_o will_n alone_o it_o be_v true_a that_o such_o as_o enter_v into_o this_o course_n shall_v find_v much_o difficulty_n and_o spend_v much_o time_n in_o acquire_v this_o excellent_a motive_n but_o let_v none_o be_v discourage_v for_o do_v not_o many_o worldly_a man_n labour_v all_o their_o life_n for_o vile_a thing_n of_o no_o worth_n &_o yet_o do_v not_o obtain_v they_o but_o we_o shall_v sure_o obtain_v this_o gift_n if_o with_o intimous_a humility_n we_o labour_v for_o it_o with_o perseverance_n but_o he_o ought_v great_o to_o reprove_v himself_o who_o shall_v think_v it_o be_v of_o any_o estimation_n dignity_n or_o price_n to_o observe_v these_o thing_n and_o yet_o shall_v not_o for_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o reward_n promise_v which_o be_v to_o obtain_v the_o say_a motive_n be_v stir_v up_o to_o seek_v it_o and_o sure_o it_o be_v not_o amiss_o to_o prae-admonish_a all_o man_n that_o at_o the_o beginning_n great_a coldness_n will_v happen_v unto_o he_o that_o direct_v his_o work_n after_o so_o high_a a_o pitch_n do_v all_o thing_n to_o god_n alone_o and_o he_o may_v wonder_v that_o have_v take_v the_o more_o sublime_a way_n yet_o he_o shall_v find_v less_o devotion_n as_o he_o may_v wonder_v that_o approach_v to_o the_o fire_n yet_o feel_v it_o grow_v more_o cold_a but_o we_o must_v know_v that_o whoso_o do_v well_o consider_v the_o cause_n hereof_o shall_v find_v that_o of_o necessity_n such_o coldness_n will_v seize_v upon_o he_o and_o yet_o his_o work_n be_v of_o no_o less_o worth_n for_o the_o cause_n hereof_o be_v for_o that_o we_o neither_o do_v nor_o love_v any_o thing_n more_o for_o our_o own_o proper_a good_a as_o we_o be_v wont_a and_o be_v natural_a unto_o we_o but_o for_o the_o only_a love_n of_o god_n we_o remove_v from_o we_o the_o root_n from_o whence_o common_o and_o natural_o all_o joy_n and_o pleasure_n be_v wont_a to_o spring_v that_o be_v our_o own_o good_a and_o quiet_a and_o we_o assume_v another_o good_a namely_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n for_o the_o rest_n and_o end_n of_o our_o labour_n which_o be_v a_o supernatural_a thing_n and_o unaccustomed_a to_o we_o no_o wonder_n if_o it_o bring_v much_o pain_n to_o make_v such_o a_o change_n from_o this_o arise_v that_o lukewarmenesse_a until_o we_o be_v accustom_v to_o feel_v esteem_v price_n love_n and_o much_o more_o to_o value_n god_n glory_n then_o our_o own_o as_o the_o thing_n which_o we_o love_v much_o more_o and_o have_v get_v this_o than_o we_o shall_v approach_v the_o fire_n that_o will_v not_o suffer_v any_o cold_a fit_a to_o tarry_v on_o us._n now_o the_o end_n be_v know_v for_o which_o we_o must_v do_v all_o thing_n some_o may_v admire_v that_o see_v the_o sacred_a scripture_n chief_o the_o gospel_n be_v so_o perfect_a and_o require_v such_o exact_a obedience_n yet_o it_o seem_v not_o ever_o to_o propose_v this_o end_n and_o motive_n when_o it_o admonish_v commend_v &_o prohibit_v but_o for_o the_o most_o part_n either_o threaten_v punishment_n or_o invite_v by_o promise_a glory_n to_o this_o i_o say_v that_o our_o bless_a redeemer_n the_o son_n of_o god_n the_o author_n of_o all_o evangelicall_a docttine_n be_v in_o himself_o most_o perfect_a do_v often_o in_o his_o own_o person_n take_v upon_o he_o the_o thing_n which_o belong_v to_o our_o frailty_n and_o infirmity_n that_o he_o may_v descend_v to_o our_o frailty_n as_o flee_v hide_v himself_o serve_v death_n etc._n etc._n so_o his_o pleasure_n be_v to_o write_v his_o doctrine_n in_o such_o word_n as_o our_o frail_a and_o miserable_a condition_n require_v who_o for_o the_o most_o part_n be_v move_v to_o do_v all_o thing_n either_o for_o hope_n of_o glory_n or_o fear_v of_o punishment_n but_o yet_o observe_v withal_o that_o as_o our_o saviour_n take_v upon_o he_o these_o our_o infirmity_n with_o great_a perfection_n and_o love_n so_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n
appear_v beautiful_a and_o graceful_a in_o his_o sight_n which_o be_v to_o be_v perform_v by_o these_o exercise_n follow_v 1_o exercise_n be_v concern_v sorrow_n for_o our_o sin_n which_o help_v much_o to_o relieve_v the_o discomfiture_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o of_o the_o manifold_a evil_n that_o come_v by_o sin_n he_o that_o have_v offend_v so_o great_a a_o lord_n as_o be_v our_o god_n by_o such_o grievous_a treachery_n as_o we_o have_v do_v &_o will_v now_o again_o come_v into_o his_o service_n it_o be_v meet_v that_o first_o he_o labour_v to_o get_v his_o offence_n pardon_v &_o that_o to_o do_v this_o he_o use_v those_o mean_n whereby_o he_o may_v more_o easy_o be_v restore_v to_o grace_v and_o that_o we_o may_v not_o as_o desperate_a person_n or_o conceit_a idiot_n think_v that_o no_o remedy_n be_v to_o be_v find_v for_o so_o great_a a_o malady_n as_o that_o of_o our_o malice_n the_o divine_a goodness_n ever_o desirous_a of_o our_o good_a have_v provide_v for_o we_o a_o easy_a remedy_n namely_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v sorry_a for_o our_o heinous_a prodition_n and_o offence_n which_o we_o have_v commit_v against_o his_o goodness_n and_o no_o soon_o shall_v we_o intimous_o and_o with_o the_o great_a endeavour_n we_o can_v albeit_o sometime_o we_o may_v seem_v to_o have_v no_o sensible_a grief_n for_o such_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n nor_o be_v absolute_o necessary_a at_o all_o time_n god_n in_o who_o hand_n it_o be_v will_v give_v it_o we_o if_o we_o often_o assume_v that_o which_o we_o can_v obtain_v and_o in_o this_o sorrow_n he_o that_o will_v right_o begin_v to_o serve_v god_n must_v continue_v a_o month_n or_o more_o 2_o exercise_n must_v be_v in_o the_o hatred_n of_o a_o man_n self_n a_o thing_n before_o all_o other_o requisite_a in_o expel_v the_o evil_a custom_n of_o the_o soul_n for_o as_o from_o the_o love_n of_o our_o saviour_n spring_v innumerable_a evil_n from_o which_o ill_a custom_n and_o habit_n do_v arise_v to_o when_o the_o love_n of_o our_o saviour_n cease_v and_o the_o hatred_n of_o our_o saviour_n enter_v to_o which_o the_o gospel_n in_o many_o place_n exhort_v every_o sin_n and_o evil_a custom_n be_v banish_v but_o because_o such_o kind_n of_o hatred_n seem_v at_o the_o first_o sight_n to_o defer_v we_o from_o this_o exercise_n for_o the_o inbred_a love_n which_o every_o one_o have_v towards_o themselves_o above_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n unto_o which_o also_o every_o man_n be_v bind_v we_o will_v first_o show_v the_o manner_n how_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o hate_v himself_o second_o wherefore_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o hate_v himself_o and_o three_o how_o this_o hatred_n can_v stand_v with_o true_a charity_n which_o begin_v at_o the_o love_n of_o one_o self_n i_o presuppose_v the_o rule_n and_o canon_n of_o the_o sixth_o instruction_n the_o manner_n wherewith_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o hate_v himself_o must_v be_v this_o that_o he_o neither_o will_v desire_n nor_o admit_v it_o as_o for_o the_o purpose_n eat_v drink_v &_o the_o like_a which_o bring_v some_o delectation_n with_o they_o thou_o must_v never_o assume_v will_n or_o desire_v they_o for_o thy_o own_o comfort_n and_o delight_n or_o to_o satisfy_v thy_o own_o appetite_n nay_o thou_o must_v with_o a_o firm_a will_v determine_v with_o thyself_o that_o thou_o will_v not_o admit_v it_o if_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v not_o such_o as_o will_v have_v thou_o to_o do_v it_o to_o hold_v this_o firm_a resolution_n it_o be_v needful_a that_o thou_o call_v to_o mind_v the_o sixth_o instruction_n and_o herein_o shall_v thou_o know_v that_o thou_o hall_n gain_v such_o a_o will_n when_o thou_o take_v only_o so_o much_o of_o these_o and_o in_o that_o manner_n as_o thou_o think_v god_n will_v have_v be_v true_o and_o not_o fainedlie_o necessary_a unto_o thou_o whereby_o thou_o may_v be_v dispose_v and_o make_v strong_a to_o the_o service_n of_o god_n in_o quality_n that_o with_o all_o thy_o power_n thou_o reject_v all_o sweet_a taste_n therein_o except_o when_o it_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o remedy_n of_o thy_o infirmity_n in_o these_o and_o the_o like_v it_o will_v be_v ever_o expedient_a that_o we_o take_v something_o less_o yea_o whilst_o yet_o it_o may_v seem_v necessary_a unto_o we_o to_o take_v so_o much_o for_o often_o the_o too_o much_o love_n of_o ourselves_o will_v impose_v upon_o we_o but_o seldom_o the_o hatred_n of_o ourselves_o beside_o it_o be_v necessary_a together_o with_o this_o hatred_n of_o thyself_o that_o thou_o do_v
befall_v he_o more_o grievous_a than_o it_o seem_v he_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v present_o the_o appetite_n apprehend_v some_o fear_n begin_v to_o be_v daunt_v and_o to_o step_v back_o as_o at_o some_o vehement_a tempest_n or_o sudden_a and_o fearful_a ruin_n of_o a_o house_n for_o it_o love_v the_o commodity_n of_o good_a thing_n from_o whence_o it_o be_v that_o this_o fear_n of_o suffer_v any_o thing_n arise_v then_o do_v reason_n work_n in_o this_o manner_n namely_o the_o second_o of_o those_o three_o way_n of_o tame_v the_o passion_n the_o lord_n be_v my_o light_n and_o my_o salvation_n who_o shall_v i_o fear_v the_o lord_n be_v the_o protector_n of_o my_o life_n of_o who_o then_o shall_v i_o be_v afraid_a sure_o i_o will_v not_o only_o not_o fear_n by_o god_n grace_n to_o under_o this_o according_a to_o the_o counsel_n of_o the_o kingly_a prophet_n trust_v not_o in_o prince_n nor_o in_o the_o son_n of_o man_n in_o who_o be_v no_o salvation_n q._n d._n hope_v not_o nay_o despair_n of_o salvation_n from_o man_n who_o altogether_o be_v void_a of_o it_o for_o that_o salvation_n which_o the_o world_n by_o a_o impudent_a lie_n do_v promise_n be_v to_o be_v despair_v of_o and_o abuser_n of_o the_o temple_n thus_o have_v we_o brief_o be_v teach_v to_o master_v our_o passion_n which_o be_v the_o great_a enemy_n to_o the_o reparation_n of_o our_o soul_n but_o yet_o before_o we_o conclude_v this_o point_n let_v we_o take_v this_o observation_n with_o we_o to_o consider_v diligent_o the_o original_a increase_n and_o decline_v of_o our_o own_o proper_a passion_n for_o beside_o the_o former_a thing_n we_o shall_v find_v many_o thing_n of_o much_o profit_n if_o we_o shall_v diligent_o mark_v that_o sometime_o this_o passion_n &_o sometime_o that_o as_o if_o they_o be_v bear_v of_o diverse_a parent_n do_v produce_v sundry_a effect_n as_o by_o the_o example_n follow_v may_v appear_v there_o be_v nothing_o doubtless_o seem_v less_o consonant_a to_o anger_v then_o delectation_n and_o yet_o it_o often_o grow_v up_o with_o anger_n as_o when_o a_o man_n in_o his_o fury_n revenge_v himself_o but_o grief_n and_o heaviness_n do_v more_o direct_o disagree_v with_o delectation_n than_o anger_n and_o yet_o grief_n in_o the_o very_a motion_n of_o sorrow_n conceive_v of_o the_o absence_n of_o the_o thing_n be_v cause_n of_o delectation_n whilst_o it_o beget_v the_o memory_n of_o the_o thing_n belove_v but_o the_o other_o be_v more_o plain_a that_o namely_o out_o of_o the_o love_n of_o good_a the_o hatred_n of_o evil_n which_o be_v repugnant_a to_o it_o ariseth_z &_o out_o of_o concupiscence_n and_o desire_n of_o the_o good_a defer_v do_v sorrow_n grow_v by_o reason_n of_o defer_v it_o and_o this_o duel_n of_o the_o 2._o passion_n thus_o their_o sundry_a remedy_n may_v succeed_v but_o this_o must_v every_o man_n most_o careful_o labour_v to_o know_v namely_o of_o what_o passion_n he_o be_v most_o grievous_o

2._o there_o be_v another_o remedy_n more_o singular_a which_o will_v make_v we_o something_o feel_v the_o inexplicable_a greatness_n of_o this_o work_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o the_o mean_n hereof_o be_v that_o we_o unite_v and_o most_o strong_o glue_v our_o will_n to_o that_o will_v which_o be_v of_o infinite_a excellency_n and_o that_o we_o join_v they_o in_o that_o manner_n that_o it_o be_v carry_v to_o nothing_o else_o but_o unto_o that_o which_o that_o infinite_a will_n will_v have_v it_o for_o than_o shall_v our_o will_n be_v of_o much_o value_n when_o our_o own_o will_n
