ever_o we_o shall_v do_v it_o now_o we_o ought_v and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o time_n fit_a for_o it_o this_o time_n of_o so_o great_a and_o so_o long_a affliction_n and_o so_o consequent_o of_o so_o great_a sorrow_n weep_v and_o mourn_v be_v most_o fit_a for_o it_o therefore_o if_o now_o we_o shall_v neglect_v it_o and_o spend_v away_o the_o time_n in_o feast_v &_o in_o all_o kind_n of_o mirth_n not_o the_o offering_n of_o lord_n in_o his_o due_a season_n that_o man_n shall_v bear_v his_o sin_n if_o we_o then_o do_v not_o at_o this_o time_n when_o god_n require_v it_o of_o we_o bring_v to_o he_o the_o obedience_n of_o fast_v and_o prayer_n and_o offer_v unto_o he_o in_o all_o humility_n as_o the_o time_n require_v the_o sacrifice_n of_o break_a heart_n and_o contrite_a spirit_n we_o can_v not_o only_o not_o look_v for_o any_o mercy_n according_a to_o our_o great_a need_n but_o we_o may_v assure_v ourselves_o of_o some_o further_a great_a punishment_n if_o we_o be_v not_o whole_o destroy_v and_o cut_v off_o from_o his_o people_n therefore_o let_v we_o not_o be_v like_a unto_o those_o foolish_a jew_n who_o know_v not_o nor_o regard_v the_o time_n of_o their_o visitation_n and_o namely_o that_o they_o be_v according_a to_o the_o blindness_n of_o that_o time_n both_o ignorant_o impose_v upon_o man_n conscience_n and_o also_o very_o superstitious_o obey_v when_o as_o they_o make_v no_o difference_n or_o choice_n of_o time_n but_o without_o all_o discretion_n appoint_v the_o time_n of_o lent_n and_o all_o ember_n week_n as_o they_o call_v they_o and_o every_o saint_n eeven_a yearly_a to_o be_v fast_v let_v the_o time_n be_v then_o as_o they_o will_v be_v not_o consider_v whether_o the_o time_n be_v or_o shall_v be_v a_o time_n of_o joy_n or_o sorrow_n of_o weep_v or_o of_o rejoice_v as_o a_o time_n of_o peace_n or_o of_o war_n a_o time_n of_o sickness_n or_o of_o health_n a_o time_n of_o dearth_n or_o of_o plenty_n or_o general_o a_o time_n of_o prosperity_n or_o of_o adversity_n &_o this_o they_o do_v not_o for_o civil_a policy_n as_o we_o keep_v they_o but_o of_o mere_a consciene_n injoin_v all_o man_n under_o the_o pain_n of_o sin_n and_o fearful_a curse_n of_o the_o pope_n upon_o such_o and_o such_o day_n yearly_o to_o fast_v even_o unto_o their_o die_a day_n when_o as_o it_o may_v fall_v out_o for_o aught_o that_o they_o know_v that_o such_o these_o can_v without_o the_o knowledge_n and_o free_a consent_n of_o those_o under_o who_o they_o be_v make_v choice_n of_o what_o day_n in_o the_o week_n they_o will_v to_o observe_v their_o private_a fast_n in_o for_o see_v the_o day_n of_o fast_o be_v to_o be_v keep_v holy_a and_o be_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o sabbath_n as_o have_v be_v prove_v before_o in_o it_o they_o must_v whole_o rest_v from_o all_o the_o work_n of_o their_o ordinary_a call_n from_o evening_n to_o evening_n and_o must_v spend_v that_o time_n in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n they_o can_v not_o at_o their_o own_o will_n and_o pleasure_n give_v over_o these_o work_n and_o so_o consequent_o not_o appoint_v unto_o themselves_o a_o day_n of_o rest_v but_o must_v be_v content_v herein_o to_o be_v and_o such_o like_a which_o if_o we_o have_v use_v more_o as_o we_o have_v occasion_n and_o the_o time_n call_v we_o unto_o it_o we_o may_v have_v look_v for_o great_a blessing_n and_o many_o punishment_n have_v not_o lie_v so_o loâ—g_v upon_o the_o people_n but_o that_o that_o we_o haâ—e_v fail_v in_o before_o let_v we_o now_o make_v a_o supply_n of_o and_o to_o that_o end_n let_v we_o far_o consider_v what_o proof_n we_o have_v more_o that_o god_n require_v it_o of_o us._n if_o this_o yearly_a day_n upon_o these_o ground_n that_o we_o have_v hear_v be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o bind_v we_o then_o let_v we_o remember_v that_o beside_o it_o they_o have_v other_o mooveable_a &_o uncertain_a fast_n occasion_n the_o jew_n have_v other_o mooveable_a fast_n upon_o sundry_a because_o the_o case_n be_v very_o extraordinary_a when_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o whole_a church_n of_o god_n be_v seek_v at_o once_o so_o we_o may_v think_v that_o in_o so_o great_a calamity_n as_o this_o not_o in_o one_o but_o in_o many_o place_n and_o so_o not_o in_o one_o but_o in_o many_o part_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n god_n require_v of_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v humble_v ourselves_o in_o fast_v some_o one_o day_n or_o other_o last_o of_o all_o that_o we_o
they_o pray_v thus_o importunate_o it_o appear_v that_o in_o this_o great_a humility_n of_o they_o overcome_v and_o by_o importunity_n of_o prayer_n the_o lord_n will_v be_v overcome_v declare_v by_o their_o fast_n and_o manner_n of_o it_o they_o have_v great_a hope_n of_o obtain_v their_o request_n of_o god_n unto_o who_o they_o do_v sue_v and_o thus_o must_v we_o do_v in_o the_o day_n of_o our_o many_o time_n defer_v of_o purpose_n to_o grant_v that_o which_o we_o ask_v and_o which_o also_o he_o have_v promise_v and_o be_v purpose_v to_o give_v that_o we_o may_v be_v move_v in_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o want_n to_o pray_v earnest_o for_o it_o and_o that_o the_o want_n of_o it_o for_o a_o time_n may_v quicken_v up_o our_o dead_a heart_n and_o dull_a spirit_n unto_o great_a fervency_n of_o prayer_n that_o also_o when_o we_o shall_v see_v that_o we_o have_v such_o thing_n give_v unto_o we_o and_o that_o we_o have_v obtain_v they_o by_o our_o prayer_n yea_o by_o long_a and_o earnest_a prayer_n we_o may_v make_v the_o more_o account_n of_o they_o and_o esteem_v they_o as_o we_o ought_v and_o also_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o thankful_a unto_o god_n for_o the_o same_o for_o the_o lord_n indeed_o have_v of_o his_o great_a mercy_n promise_v that_o if_o we_o call_v upon_o he_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o as_o we_o have_v learn_v even_o now_o out_o of_o the_o gospel_n of_o s._n luke_n and_o may_v further_o learn_v out_o of_o many_o other_o place_n of_o scripture_n beside_o as_o 50.15_o psal_n 50.15_o call_v upon_o i_o in_o the_o time_n of_o thy_o trouble_n and_o i_o will_v hear_v thou_o and_o deliver_v thou_o and_o many_o other_o but_o he_o have_v set_v down_o no_o time_n when_o we_o shall_v see_v and_o perceive_v that_o he_o have_v hear_v we_o save_v that_o it_o be_v say_v i_o will_v hear_v thou_o in_o due_a time_n 10.1_o psal_n 10.1_o even_o in_o affliction_n now_o which_o be_v the_o most_o convenient_a time_n for_o god_n to_o help_v we_o in_o 1.7_o act._n 1.7_o that_o we_o must_v not_o prescribe_v unto_o he_o neither_o be_v it_o always_o meet_v for_o we_o to_o know_v the_o time_n or_o the_o season_n which_o the_o father_n have_v put_v in_o his_o own_o power_n therefore_o as_o they_o be_v best_a know_v to_o his_o heavenly_a majesty_n so_o we_o must_v leave_v the_o declaration_n of_o they_o to_o he_o alone_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o blessing_n we_o be_v not_o so_o fit_a for_o prayer_n and_o therefore_o a_o sober_a diet_n and_o a_o moderate_a use_n of_o all_o other_o of_o god_n creature_n and_o benefit_n will_v always_o make_v we_o the_o more_o fit_a for_o prayer_n but_o when_o the_o body_n be_v pinch_v with_o hunger_n and_o the_o want_n of_o other_o necessary_a help_n meet_v for_o it_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o want_n shall_v be_v a_o mean_n to_o set_v a_o sharp_a edge_n upon_o our_o prayer_n to_o make_v they_o more_o pierce_v and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o give_v a_o wing_n unto_o they_o to_o fly_v aloft_o above_o the_o cloud_n even_o to_o make_v they_o enter_v into_o heaven_n and_o to_o come_v before_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n we_o ought_v then_o in_o these_o day_n of_o abstinence_n thus_o to_o profit_n by_o the_o feel_n of_o the_o want_n of_o our_o body_n so_o to_o judge_v ourselves_o unwoorthy_a not_o only_o of_o all_o that_o which_o we_o abstain_v from_o but_o of_o all_o other_o thing_n beside_o yea_o the_o voice_n of_o man_n but_o of_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n and_o so_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o think_v themselves_o bind_v to_o it_o so_o much_o the_o more_o furthermore_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o not_o only_a when_o it_o be_v 〈◊〉_d present_o upon_o we_o and_o may_v be_v feel_v fast_n second_o the_o sign_n of_o god_n wrath_n to_o come_v have_v be_v cause_n of_o public_a fast_n but_o when_o it_o maybe_o discern_v a_o far_o off_o and_o when_o there_o be_v just_a cause_n to_o fear_v it_o as_o that_o that_o be_v near_o we_o and_o ready_a short_o to_o come_v upon_o we_o if_o it_o be_v not_o speedy_o prevent_v whereof_o when_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n have_v see_v evident_a sign_n and_o apparent_a token_n they_o have_v in_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n seek_v by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n to_o turn_v it_o away_o and_o have_v not_o careless_o tarry_v until_o such_o time_n as_o it_o come_v upon_o they_o and_o so_o that_o have_v be_v a_o other_o sufficient_a cause_n of_o fast_v unto_o
