almighty_a and_o slander_v for_o a_o wicked_a person_n but_o the_o water_n may_v be_v muddy_a and_o the_o struggle_a of_o the_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n so_o strong_a that_o we_o happy_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o judge_v which_o be_v master_n what_o then_o then_o faith_n lay_v hold_v of_o the_o blood_n in_o justification_n which_o though_o it_o be_v the_o dark_a testimony_n yet_o be_v as_o sure_a as_o any_o of_o the_o other_o now_o in_o compare_v of_o these_o witness_n together_o in_o st._n john_n and_o in_o my_o text_n i_o rank_v the_o water_n and_o the_o blood_n with_o the_o testimony_n of_o our_o spirit_n and_o the_o spirit_n mention_v in_o st._n john_n and_o in_o my_o text_n to_o be_v all_o one_o not_o as_o though_o we_o wrought_v they_o but_o we_o believe_v they_o to_o be_v so_o if_o a_o man_n ask_v how_o i_o know_v that_o i_o be_o sanctify_v the_o answer_n must_v be_v i_o believe_v and_o know_v it_o to_o be_v so_o the_o work_n produce_v these_o thing_n in_o i_o come_v of_o god_n but_o for_o the_o work_n of_o discern_v this_o be_v certain_a how_o our_o affection_n stand_v in_o this_o case_n it_o come_v of_o we_o but_o yet_o to_o come_v near_o the_o matter_n the_o testimony_n of_o our_o spirit_n i_o conceive_v to_o be_v when_o a_o man_n have_v take_v a_o survey_n of_o those_o excellent_a thing_n belong_v unto_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n when_o according_a to_o the_o substantial_a truth_n which_o i_o know_v in_o the_o word_n i_o observe_v and_o follow_v as_o fast_o as_o i_o can_v what_o be_v there_o command_v when_o i_o take_v the_o candle_n of_o the_o word_n and_o with_o the_o bright_a burn_a lamp_n search_v into_o the_o word_n what_o be_v there_o to_o be_v do_v and_o so_o bring_v it_o home_o to_o myself_o thereby_o mortify_v my_o corruption_n this_o be_v the_o groundwork_n of_o the_o witness_n of_o our_o spirit_n first_o as_o in_o the_o blood_n with_o my_o spirit_n i_o must_v see_v what_o be_v needful_a to_o be_v do_v in_o order_n unto_o justification_n what_o free_a promise_n of_o invitation_n belong_v thereunto_o i_o must_v see_v how_o god_n justify_v a_o sinner_n what_o condition_n on_o our_o part_n be_v require_v in_o justification_n i_o must_v see_v what_o footing_n and_o ground_n for_o life_n and_o what_o way_n of_o hope_n there_o be_v for_o a_o graceless_a man_n to_o be_v save_v yea_o even_o for_o the_o worst_a person_n that_o may_v be_v in_o this_o case_n a_o man_n must_v not_o look_v for_o any_o thing_n in_o himself_o as_o a_o cause_n christ_n must_v not_o be_v have_v by_o exchange_n but_o receive_v as_o free_a gift_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v rom._n 4.16_o therefore_o it_o be_v of_o faith_n that_o it_o may_v be_v by_o grace_n to_o the_o end_n the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a to_o all_o the_o seed_n i_o must_v there_o bring_v unto_o the_o receive_n of_o christ_n a_o bare_a hand_n it_o must_v be_v of_o grace_n god_n for_o this_o cause_n will_v make_v we_o let_v fall_v every_o thing_n before_o we_o shall_v take_v hold_n of_o he_o though_o qualify_v with_o humiliation_n i_o must_v let_v all_o fall_v not_o trust_v unto_o it_o as_o to_o make_v i_o the_o worthy_a to_o receive_v christ_n as_o some_o think_v when_o thus_o at_o first_o for_o my_o justification_n i_o receive_v christ_n i_o must_v let_v any_o thing_n i_o have_v fall_n to_o lay_v hold_n of_o he_o that_o then_o he_o may_v find_v we_o thus_o naked_a as_o it_o be_v in_o our_o blood_n and_o in_o this_o sort_n god_n will_v take_v we_o that_o all_o may_v be_v of_o mere_a grace_n another_o thing_n the_o apostle_n add_v and_o that_o be_v that_o the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a if_o any_o thing_n in_o we_o may_v be_v as_o a_o cause_n or_o help_v to_o our_o justification_n a_o man_n shall_v never_o be_v sure_a therefore_o it_o be_v all_o of_o grace_n that_o the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a as_o though_o god_n shall_v say_v i_o care_v for_o nothing_o else_o bring_v i_o my_o son_n and_o show_v i_o he_o and_o then_o all_o be_v well_o and_o in_o this_o case_n you_o see_v he_o do_v not_o name_n hope_n or_o love_n or_o any_o other_o grace_n but_o faith_n for_o the_o nature_n of_o faith_n be_v to_o let_v fall_v all_o thing_n in_o lay_v hold_n on_o christ_n in_o justification_n faith_n be_v a_o sufferer_n only_o but_o in_o sanctification_n it_o work_v and_o purge_v the_o whole_a man_n and_o so_o witness_v the_o certainty_n and_o truth_n of_o our_o sanctification_n and_o so_o the_o assurance_n of_o salvation_n hence_o from_o the_o nature_n hereof_o in_o this_o work_n the_o apostle_n in_o 2_o pet._n 1.1_o write_v to_o they_o who_o have_v obtain_v like_o precious_a faith_n in_o this_o case_n it_o be_v alike_o to_o all_o in_o virtue_n in_o this_o work_n whatsoever_o the_o measure_n be_v and_o i_o may_v liken_v it_o thus_o st._n paul_n you_o know_v write_v with_o these_o hand_n i_o get_v my_o live_n now_o though_o strong_a hand_n may_v work_v more_o than_o weak_a hand_n and_o so_o earn_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o yet_o a_o beggar_n who_o hold_v out_o his_o hand_n may_v receive_v more_o than_o he_o or_o any_o other_o can_v earn_v so_o faith_n justify_v only_o receive_n not_o work_v as_o we_o may_v see_v joh._n 1.12_o but_o to_o as_o many_o as_o receive_v he_o to_o they_o give_v he_o power_n to_o become_v the_o son_n of_o god_n even_o to_o they_o that_o believe_v in_o his_o name_n receive_v he_o that_o be_v believe_v in_o he_o how_o come_v and_o take_v he_o how_o as_o it_o be_v in_o rev._n 22._o and_o let_v he_o that_o be_v athirst_a come_v and_o whosoever_o will_v
