first_o from_o whence_o or_o from_o what_o thing_n we_o must_v return_v and_o that_o be_v from_o all_o our_o sin_n not_o only_o grosser_n vice_n but_o the_o filthy_a lust_n and_o inward_a concupiscence_n of_o the_o flesh._n all_o these_o thing_n must_v they_o forsake_v that_o will_v true_o turn_v unto_o the_o lord_n and_o repent_v aright_o for_o since_o for_o such_o thing_n the_o wrath_n of_o god_n come_v upon_o the_o child_n of_o disobedience_n no_o end_n of_o punishment_n ought_v to_o be_v look_v for_o as_o long_o as_o we_o continue_v in_o such_o thing_n but_o this_o must_v doctrine_n of_o our_o church_n and_o be_v the_o only_a apostate_n and_o innovator_n which_o may_v satisfy_v any_o man_n how_o unjust_o i_o be_o charge_v with_o corrupt_v the_o doctrine_n of_o our_o church_n when_o i_o have_v only_o express_v the_o true_a sense_n and_o meaning_n of_o it_o in_o such_o word_n as_o be_v less_o liable_a to_o be_v mistake_v and_o how_o vain_o my_o adversary_n pretend_v to_o be_v such_o obedient_a son_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n when_o under_o a_o orthodox_n form_n of_o word_n they_o have_v introduce_v such_o doctrine_n as_o be_v diametrical_o opposite_a to_o the_o declare_a sense_n of_o this_o church_n after_o this_o large_a and_o particular_a account_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n concern_v the_o justification_n of_o a_o sinner_n it_o be_v time_n in_o the_o second_o place_n to_o consider_v how_o the_o state_n of_o the_o controversy_n be_v alter_v at_o this_o day_n and_o how_o those_o man_n who_o i_o oppose_v have_v corrupt_v the_o doctrine_n as_o well_o as_o reject_v the_o authority_n of_o our_o church_n and_o though_o i_o have_v already_o give_v sufficient_a intimation_n of_o this_o yet_o it_o may_v be_v of_o great_a use_n more_o particular_o to_o show_v how_o direct_o opposite_a these_o new_a and_o fantastic_a notion_n be_v to_o the_o establish_a doctrine_n contain_v in_o our_o article_n and_o homily_n which_o though_o it_o will_v admit_v of_o a_o very_a large_a discourse_n i_o shall_v comprise_v in_o as_o few_o word_n as_o may_v be_v and_o first_o whereas_o our_o church_n express_o assert_n that_o in_o the_o justification_n of_o a_o sinner_n on_o god_n part_n be_v require_v mercy_n and_o grace_n justification_n consist_v in_o the_o free_a pardon_n of_o all_o our_o sin_n mr._n ferguson_n very_o agreeable_o indeed_o to_o his_o own_o principle_n express_o assert_n that_o justification_n do_v not_o consist_v in_o the_o pardon_n of_o sin_n nor_o be_v it_o the_o result_n of_o mercy_n but_o the_o offspring_n of_o justice_n remission_n as_o he_o acknowledge_v etc._n be_v the_o result_n of_o mercy_n and_o the_o act_n of_o one_o exercise_v favour_n but_o justification_n be_v the_o off_o spring_n of_o justice_n and_o import_v one_o transact_v with_o we_o in_o a_o juridical_a way_n without_o the_o infringement_n of_o law_n or_o equity_n this_o notion_n i_o have_v examine_v already_o and_o shall_v add_v nothing_o further_a for_o the_o confutation_n of_o it_o it_o be_v direct_o contrary_a to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o our_o homily_n and_o i_o hope_v be_v justify_v not_o by_o be_v pardon_v but_o by_o be_v acquit_v and_o absolve_v as_o a_o innocent_a man_n who_o have_v never_o offend_v the_o account_n of_o this_o will_v far_o discover_v what_o friend_n they_o be_v to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o our_o church_n for_o second_o whereas_o the_o church_n of_o england_n require_v no_o more_o on_o christ_n part_n but_o justice_n or_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o god_n justice_n or_o the_o price_n of_o our_o redemption_n which_o make_v he_o the_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o our_o justification_n that_o god_n for_o christ_n sake_n forgive_v upon_o christ_n part_n justice_n that_o be_v the_o satisfaction_n of_o god_n justice_n or_o the_o price_n of_o our_o redemption_n by_o the_o offering_n of_o his_o body_n and_o sheddidg_v his_o blood_n with_o fulfil_v of_o the_o law_n perfect_o and_o thorough_o and_o upon_o our_o part_n true_a and_o lively_a faith_n in_o the_o merit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n which_o yet_o be_v not_o we_o but_o by_o god_n work_v in_o we_o this_o be_v a_o much_o more_o intelligible_a way_n of_o explain_v the_o doctrine_n of_o justification_n than_o by_o the_o material_a formal_a efficient_a instrumental_a cause_n lover_n of_o god_n before_o he_o be_v justify_v though_o repentance_n and_o hope_n etc._n etc._n have_v no_o actual_a influence_n upon_o our_o justification_n yet_o they_o be_v causae_fw-la sine_fw-la quibus_fw-la non_fw-la such_o cause_n without_o which_o the_o effect_n will_v never_o follow_v which_o necessary_o entitle_v they_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o condition_n for_o a_o condition_n which_o make_v good_a by_o do_v of_o they_o that_o be_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o they_o and_o this_o we_o be_v teach_v be_v so_o necessary_a that_o unless_o these_o good_a work_n follow_v as_o the_o necessary_a fruit_n of_o faith_n we_o shall_v loose_v our_o justification_n again_o as_o you_o hear_v above_o in_o what_o sense_n then_o do_v our_o church_n reject_v good_a work_n and_o attribute_v our_o justification_n to_o faith_n alone_o and_o that_o we_o be_v tell_v over_o and_o over_o in_o the_o most_o plain_a and_o express_a word_n that_o it_o be_v only_o to_o take_v away_o the_o merit_n
