have_v not_o their_o heart_n soften_v by_o the_o word_n yet_o many_o other_o have_v their_o heart_n soften_v by_o it_o simile_n as_o although_o many_o who_o take_v physic_n be_v nothing_o better_o by_o it_o yet_o many_o who_o do_v so_o be_v recover_v by_o it_o and_o this_o we_o find_v by_o experience_n that_o though_o the_o word_n be_v the_o savour_n of_o death_n unto_o death_n unto_o some_o yet_o it_o be_v the_o savour_n of_o life_n unto_o life_n unto_o other_o and_o as_o we_o must_v not_o conclude_v that_o the_o word_n be_v not_o the_o mean_n of_o save_a faith_n because_o all_o that_o hear_v the_o word_n do_v not_o believe_v so_o neither_o must_v we_o deny_v the_o word_n as_o a_o mean_n to_o soften_v the_o heart_n because_o many_o who_o do_v hear_v it_o do_v remain_v harden_v but_o if_o we_o find_v first_o that_o god_n have_v institute_v his_o word_n for_o such_o a_o purpose_n and_o end_n second_o that_o god_n have_v bless_v his_o word_n and_o make_v it_o effectual_a to_o that_o purpose_n three_o do_v call_v even_o sinner_n to_o come_v and_o attend_v that_o they_o may_v attain_v that_o blessing_n depend_v upon_o this_o word_n and_o last_o that_o without_o the_o attendance_n upon_o the_o word_n there_o be_v no_o enjoyment_n of_o that_o softness_n of_o heart_n but_o a_o great_a access_n and_o confirmation_n of_o hardness_n of_o heart_n thence_o we_o may_v confident_o conclude_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v a_o mean_n to_o soften_v the_o heart_n but_o 3._o you_o must_v know_v that_o the_o efficacy_n of_o spiritual_a mean_n do_v not_o depend_v upon_o the_o mere_a presence_n of_o the_o mean_n but_o upon_o the_o concomitancy_n and_o influence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n who_o sometime_o do_v put_v forth_o his_o power_n through_o those_o mean_n and_o sometime_o do_v not_o so_o the_o word_n by_o its_o own_o natural_a and_o proper_a vigour_n do_v not_o convince_v nor_o convert_v nor_o soften_v the_o heart_n for_o then_o every_o one_o that_o hear_v it_o shall_v be_v convince_v and_o convert_v and_o soften_v nor_o then_o shall_v it_o be_v a_o mean_n but_o a_o principal_a efficient_a but_o those_o effect_n it_o do_v work_v on_o all_o who_o hear_v be_v that_o sol._n you_o know_v that_o it_o be_v voluntary_a and_o it_o be_v full_a and_o it_o be_v cheerful_a and_o it_o be_v ingenuous_a and_o it_o be_v accurate_a and_o it_o be_v durable_a as_o long_o as_o the_o union_n and_o relation_n be_v what_o that_o subjection_n be_v do_v last_o the_o wife_n willing_o obey_v and_o obey_v every_o lawful_a and_o good_a command_n and_o do_v it_o with_o all_o her_o heart_n and_o be_v very_o well_o please_v if_o her_o husband_n be_v please_v etc._n etc._n why_o after_o this_o manner_n will_v faith_n fashion_v your_o heart_n to_o christ_n if_o it_o have_v unite_v you_o to_o christ_n or_o rather_o thus_o will_v christ_n upon_o your_o union_n with_o he_o fashion_n and_o enable_v your_o heart_n your_o heart_n will_v look_v on_o christ_n as_o one_o that_o have_v authority_n and_o right_a to_o command_v they_o and_o give_v law_n to_o they_o and_o your_o heart_n will_v look_v on_o all_o his_o command_n as_o good_a and_o holy_a and_o just_a and_o they_o will_v not_o be_v grievous_a unto_o you_o but_o you_o will_v be_v a_o willing_a people_n in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o power_n and_o thus_o by_o these_o chracter_n you_o may_v know_v whether_o and_o to_o breed_v assurance_n in_o they_o of_o their_o union_n and_o communion_n with_o christ_n and_o as_o for_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n i_o will_v to_o god_n that_o we_o know_v it_o more_o
