power_n of_o the_o light_n that_o there_o be_v in_o a_o natural_a conscience_n but_o there_o be_v much_o difference_n between_o this_o kind_n of_o suffer_v and_o that_o which_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o faith_n as_o thus_o first_o 1._o where_o it_o be_v only_o from_o a_o natural_a conscience_n the_o soul_n be_v urge_v and_o put_v on_o by_o force_n of_o a_o command_n but_o it_o be_v therefore_o oppose_v and_o seek_v to_o extinguish_v his_o light_n rather_o than_o to_o use_v any_o mean_n to_o maintain_v and_o cherish_v it_o but_o where_o there_o be_v a_o principle_n of_o faith_n that_o soul_n love_v that_o light_n it_o have_v and_o bless_v god_n for_o it_o account_v of_o it_o a_o great_a mercy_n and_o therefore_o seek_v by_o all_o mean_n to_o maintain_v and_o increase_v it_o and_o join_v side_n with_o it_o all_o he_o can_v three_o 3._o where_o there_o be_v only_o a_o natural_a conscience_n such_o a_o one_o be_v very_o hardly_o bring_v to_o suffer_v any_o thing_n he_o seek_v to_o put_v off_o the_o truth_n as_o much_o as_o he_o can_v that_o he_o may_v not_o be_v convince_v by_o it_o there_o must_v be_v wonderful_a clear_a evidence_n that_o he_o can_v by_o no_o mean_n shift_v off_o or_o else_o he_o will_v never_o be_v convince_v he_o will_v part_v with_o nothing_o unless_o it_o be_v wring_v from_o he_o with_o great_a strength_n of_o undeniable_a evidence_n well_o as_o in_o another_o so_o far_o as_o god_n call_v thereunto_o that_o which_o work_v by_o rule_n work_v even_o impartial_o constant_o but_o there_o be_v none_o object_n but_o in_o some_o thing_n may_v at_o sometime_o seek_v themselves_o there_o be_v nothing_o wherein_o a_o gracious_a spirit_n give_v liberty_n to_o its_o self_n so_o to_o do_v answ_n if_o there_o be_v true_a faith_n the_o soul_n set_v itself_o in_o the_o bent_n frame_n and_o endeavour_v of_o it_o against_o all_o self-seeking_a in_o every_o thing_n proportionable_o according_a as_o the_o rule_n require_v if_o self_n prevail_v at_o any_o time_n it_o be_v beyond_o the_o scope_n intent_n frame_n resolution_n and_o true_a endeavour_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o when_o that_o wherein_o self_n have_v prevail_v be_v take_v notice_n of_o it_o take_v revenge_n upon_o itself_o in_o that_o thing_n rather_o than_o any_o other_o second_o 2._o where_o suffering_n trouble_v come_v from_o a_o natural_a root_n the_o soul_n be_v not_o conscious_a to_o its_o self_n of_o its_o own_o weakness_n it_o know_v not_o the_o power_n of_o corruption_n in_o the_o heart_n it_o understand_v not_o how_o self_n may_v be_v seek_v in_o deny_v one_o self_n such_o a_o one_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o secret_a distemper_n those_o inward_a wind_n and_o turn_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n those_o depth_n those_o wile_n those_o device_n of_o satan_n and_o of_o his_o own_o spirit_n he_o see_v not_o need_v of_o a_o high_a principle_n to_o enable_v he_o to_o any_o gracious_a manner_n of_o self-denial_n he_o look_v at_o it_o but_o as_o a_o thing_n within_o his_o own_o reach_n he_o be_v not_o fearful_a and_o jealous_a of_o himself_o but_o it_o be_v otherwise_o where_o self-denial_n come_v from_o faith_n the_o business_n and_o work_n of_o faith_n be_v the_o get_n up_o on_o high_a and_o fetch_v strength_n from_o on_o high_a know_v that_o the_o soul_n in_o its_o self_n have_v nothing_o but_o corruption_n and_o weakness_n three_o 3._o when_o it_o come_v from_o natural_a principle_n there_o may_v be_v some_o appearance_n of_o self-denial_n in_o outward_a action_n and_o willingness_n to_o suffer_v but_o there_o be_v little_a care_n of_o mortify_v inward_a lust_n lust_n within_o be_v suffer_v to_o swell_v to_o rankle_v and_o fester_v natural_a principle_n do_v not_o strike_v at_o the_o root_n of_o evil_a there_o may_v be_v a_o restraint_n of_o some_o evil_n but_o the_o root_n of_o bitterness_n still_o remain_v in_o the_o strength_n of_o it_o but_o faith_n begin_v within_o it_o work_v to_o the_o bottom_n and_o strike_v at_o the_o root_n of_o evil_a at_o all_o the_o corrupt_a principle_n that_o be_v in_o the_o inward_o of_o the_o soul_n it_o empty_v out_o self_n from_o the_o most_o secret_a inward_a hold_n that_o it_o
