appear_v to_o be_v a_o almighty_a god_n in_o keep_v grace_n alive_a in_o the_o heart_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o remainder_n of_o corruption_n so_o that_o in_o this_o god_n have_v glory_n in_o another_o way_n than_o he_o have_v from_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n the_o power_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o uphold_v of_o the_o angel_n for_o if_o he_o do_v not_o uphold_v they_o they_o will_v fall_v into_o evil_n as_o adam_n and_o the_o other_o angel_n do_v but_o therein_o appear_v god_n glorious_a power_n to_o uphold_v the_o angel_n but_o the_o glorious_a power_n in_o uphold_v the_o angel_n do_v little_a spark_n shall_v be_v keep_v alive_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n not_o only_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n but_o when_o the_o sea_n be_v tempestuous_a you_o yil_v say_v it_o be_v no_o great_a wonder_n that_o the_o fire_n be_v keep_v burn_v when_o the_o sea_n be_v calm_a but_o when_o all_o be_v in_o a_o storm_n and_o yet_o a_o spark_n of_o fire_n shall_v be_v keep_v alive_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o the_o toss_n of_o the_o wave_n you_o will_v grant_v here_o be_v a_o mighty_a power_n now_o the_o keep_v alive_a of_o grace_n in_o thy_o heart_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o so_o much_o corruption_n do_v argue_v as_o mighty_a a_o power_n in_o god_n 2._o the_o lord_n do_v so_o order_v it_o that_o still_o his_o own_o people_n shall_v be_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o do_v not_o mistake_v it_o for_o presumption_n object_n you_o will_v say_v for_o man_n notwithstanding_o all_o their_o sin_n to_o believe_v in_o god_n mercy_n this_o be_v rather_o presumption_n than_o faith_n answ_n true_o it_o be_v presumpion_n in_o many_o they_o mistake_v themselves_o but_o in_o other_o it_o be_v true_a faith_n and_o god_n delight_v in_o it_o and_o you_o shall_v know_v it_o by_o this_o it_o do_v draw_v the_o heart_n to_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n never_o find_v such_o a_o prevalent_a way_n to_o overcome_v those_o corruption_n that_o be_v in_o it_o as_o to_o exercise_v their_o faith_n in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n i_o beseech_v you_o mark_v the_o difference_n between_o presumption_n and_o faith_n in_o christ_n presumption_n will_v trust_v in_o god_n mercy_n notwithstanding_o their_o sin_n but_o that_o do_v indeed_o foment_n their_o sin_n and_o make_v they_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n make_v they_o the_o more_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n shall_v by_o the_o true_a geminine_a act_n of_o faith_n rest_n in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o corruption_n if_o it_o be_v right_a such_o a_o soul_n feel_v no_o mean_n in_o the_o world_n of_o great_a efficacy_n to_o cure_v and_o prevail_v against_o corruption_n then_o this_o to_o trust_v in_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o corruption_n and_o if_o thou_o find_v it_o thus_o thou_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o fear_v trust_v in_o god_n grace_n with_o confidence_n for_o it_o be_v that_o which_o be_v well_o please_v unto_o god_n and_o that_o may_v find_v by_o this_o how_o your_o heart_n be_v when_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n be_v upon_o you_o in_o affliction_n than_o you_o will_v cry_v to_o god_n but_o i_o put_v this_o to_o you_o have_v there_o not_o come_v as_o strong_a cry_n to_o heaven_n upon_o the_o sense_n of_o your_o corruption_n as_o upon_o the_o sense_n of_o any_o affliction_n whatsoever_o 4._o the_o lord_n have_v glory_n in_o this_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o the_o work_n of_o repentance_n and_o humility_n the_o keep_v the_o soul_n of_o his_o people_n in_o humility_n and_o the_o contrition_n of_o their_o spirit_n that_o be_v exceed_o please_a to_o god_n the_o lord_n be_v near_o to_o a_o break_a contrite_a heart_n a_o melt_a mourn_a spirit_n the_o lord_n do_v delight_n in_o the_o evangelical_a work_n of_o repentance_n this_o please_v the_o lord_n the_o work_n of_o humiliation_n mourning_n and_o sorrow_n for_o sin_n in_o a_o evangelical_a way_n be_v a_o grace_n that_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n god_n shall_v have_v none_o of_o that_o in_o heaven_n and_o he_o have_v it_o therefore_o here_o 5._o god_n hereby_o exercise_v his_o wisdom_n exceed_o in_o bring_v light_n out_o of_o darkeness_n god_n do_v many_o time_n turn_v not_o only_o the_o affliction_n of_o his_o people_n to_o their_o good_a but_o he_o work_v good_a many_o time_n out_o of_o sin_n not_o that_o hereby_o we_o shall_v be_v bold_a good_a because_o they_o see_v so_o much_o corruption_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o they_o be_v harden_v thereby_o but_o they_o little_o think_v
now_o this_o be_v a_o special_a thing_n to_o be_v speak_v of_o in_o this_o point_n how_o believer_n shall_v improve_v this_o and_o what_o it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v learn_v by_o this_o and_o how_o helpful_a this_o will_v be_v to_o they_o and_o something_o for_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o those_o that_o doubt_v that_o they_o be_v not_o believer_n but_o we_o can_v do_v all_o thing_n at_o once_o this_o shall_v suffice_v for_o the_o present_a the_o mere_a present_v to_o your_o soul_n what_o rest_v there_o be_v in_o christ_n from_o the_o load_n of_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n from_o the_o load_n that_o many_o feel_v to_o be_v upon_o their_o soul_n through_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n chap._n xxxi_o contain_v divers_a consequence_n from_o the_o rest_n believer_n have_v from_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n and_o lesson_n they_o be_v teach_v from_o thence_o to_o proceed_v now_o there_o be_v divers_a thing_n that_o follow_v from_o hence_o from_o the_o rest_n that_o we_o have_v in_o christ_n from_o the_o burden_n and_o load_n of_o the_o law_n i_o shall_v speak_v very_o brief_o of_o they_o and_o so_o pass_v to_o what_o remain_v in_o the_o next_o burden_n and_o rest_n to_o that_o from_o hence_o follow_v exceed_v help_n unto_o believer_n against_o divers_a temptation_n that_o do_v exceed_o trouble_v the_o peace_n and_o rest_n of_o their_o soul_n if_o they_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o law_n in_o those_o several_a respect_n as_o at_o large_a have_v be_v open_v to_o you_o 1._o then_o first_o from_o the_o meditation_n of_o this_o their_o delivery_n they_o may_v have_v rest_n and_o ease_n from_o this_o temptation_n that_o because_o of_o some_o imperfection_n weakness_n and_o distemper_n of_o heart_n and_o sin_n that_o they_o be_v guilty_a of_o therefore_o they_o have_v no_o interest_n at_o all_o in_o christ_n they_o have_v no_o interest_n to_o believe_v in_o christ_n because_o of_o that_o the_o strength_n of_o this_o temptation_n can_v stand_v with_o the_o right_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n as_o deliver_v from_o the_o law_n if_o christ_n deliver_v from_o the_o law_n than_o a_o interest_n in_o christ_n may_v stand_v though_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o keep_v the_o law_n yea_o and_o further_o we_o know_v this_o that_o it_o be_v usual_a with_o believer_n upon_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n in_o any_o thing_n to_o call_v their_o estate_n into_o question_n all_o into_o question_n certain_o if_o we_o know_v that_o we_o be_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n not_o by_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n not_o to_o be_v cast_v by_o the_o law_n we_o will_v never_o be_v so_o ready_a to_o call_v all_o into_o question_n upon_o any_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n that_o our_o conscience_n tell_v we_o we_o have_v be_v guilty_a of_o 2._o further_o this_o will_v marvellous_o help_v against_o this_o temptation_n likewise_o that_o god_n accept_v not_o of_o what_o we_o do_v because_o it_o be_v not_o perfect_a because_o it_o be_v not_o complete_a when_o believer_n look_v upon_o their_o duty_n that_o they_o do_v perform_v and_o see_v so_o many_o imperfection_n in_o they_o they_o dare_v not_o tender_v they_o up_o to_o god_n god_n be_v a_o infinite_a holy_a just_a god_n and_o they_o be_v ashamed_a of_o what_o they_o have_v do_v so_o as_o they_o dare_v not_o tender_v they_o up_o to_o god_n now_o the_o right_a knowledge_n of_o our_o deliverance_n from_o the_o law_n will_v help_v we_o against_o this_o temptation_n likewise_o remember_v o_o thou_o believer_n that_o thou_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n thou_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o he_o in_o christ_n through_o a_o better_a covenant_n than_o the_o covenant_n of_o the_o law_n 3._o further_o this_o will_v help_v against_o this_o temptation_n also_o that_o many_o time_n be_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o saint_n that_o because_o they_o hear_v of_o divers_a that_o have_v seem_v to_o have_v more_o than_o they_o have_v that_o have_v have_v more_o ability_n than_o they_o have_v have_v have_v be_v able_a to_o do_v more_o for_o god_n than_o they_o have_v do_v yet_o for_o all_o this_o have_v fall_v away_o and_o so_o it_o may_v be_v have_v perish_v for_o ever_o now_o say_v many_o a_o poor_a christian_a if_o such_o eminent_a man_n of_o such_o excellent_a ability_n that_o be_v able_a to_o do_v such_o great_a thing_n if_o they_o that_o go_v thus_o far_o fall_v away_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o such_o a_o poor_a creature_n as_o i_o be_o now_o by_o the_o understanding_n of_o our_o deliverance_n that_o we_o have_v from_o the_o law_n by_o christ_n we_o come_v to_o have_v help_n against_o this_o temptation_n for_o let_v a_o man_n have_v never_o such_o ability_n and_o be_v able_a to_o do_v never_o so_o much_o work_v yet_o this_o man_n may_v fall_v member_n thou_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o be_v once_o bring_v into_o the_o covenant_n that_o will_v uphold_v thou_o though_o thou_o be_v weak_a when_o thousand_o of_o other_o that_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o natural_a ability_n and_o common_a gift_n of_o god_n spirit_n yet_o be_v not_o bring_v under_o this_o covenant_n may_v vanish_v yea_o have_v they_o the_o strength_n of_o a_o angel_n yet_o if_o not_o bring_v under_o this_o covenant_n of_o grace_n make_v with_o believer_n in_o christ_n they_o will_v fall_v and_o come_v to_o nothing_o whenas_o the_o weak_a believer_n that_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n through_o christ_n and_o not_o through_o the_o law_n such_o a_o one_o shall_v stand_v and_o not_o fall_v now_o the_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o law_n in_o christ_n will_v mighty_o help_v believer_n against_o these_o temptation_n and_o divers_a other_o i_o know_v nothing_o that_o do_v help_v believer_n more_o than_o
