whatsoever_o come_v from_o man_n from_o corrupt_a flesh_n be_v unclean_a so_o rom._n 8.7_o the_o carnal_a or_o the_o fleshly_a wisdom_n be_v not_o subject_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n so_o that_o a_o man_n not_o only_o have_v no_o good_a in_o himself_o but_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o receive_v any_o good_a but_o rather_o oppose_v it_o second_o hence_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o all_o save_a work_n be_v the_o proper_a gift_n of_o god_n and_o the_o peculiar_a operation_n of_o his_o good_a spirit_n in_o the_o heart_n
from_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o grace_n and_o his_o mercy_n and_o it_o prefer_v sin_n and_o the_o devil_n before_o the_o lord_n and_o all_o that_o sufficiency_n of_o good_a that_o be_v in_o he_o and_o therefore_o the_o prophet_n wish_v the_o heaven_n to_o be_v astonish_v at_o this_o weak_a thing_n natural_o incline_v to_o that_o which_o may_v strengthen_v they_o and_o heavy_a thing_n will_v not_o rest_v until_o they_o come_v to_o the_o earth_n because_o that_o will_v sustain_v they_o oh_o what_o a_o baseness_n be_v this_o the_o heaven_n be_v weary_a of_o a_o base_a wretch_n that_o will_v say_v oh_o that_o man_n will_v therefore_o praise_v the_o lord_n for_o his_o goodness_n and_o declare_v his_o wonderful_a work_n before_o the_o son_n of_o man_n this_o be_v also_o a_o type_n of_o our_o spiritual_a come_n home_o to_o christ_n we_o be_v all_o slave_n to_o the_o devil_n and_o in_o spiritual_a bondage_n under_o sin_n hell_n and_o death_n but_o faith_n set_v a_o man_n upon_o the_o repentance_n be_v sound_a it_o matter_n not_o what_o thou_o have_v be_v a_o rebel_n even_o against_o god_n if_o now_o thou_o can_v believe_v and_o rest_v upon_o god_n and_o repent_v thou_o of_o thy_o sin_n quest_n but_o now_o the_o point_n grow_v on_o the_o soul_n be_v in_o some_o reasonable_a manner_n satisfy_v that_o if_o it_o have_v faith_n than_o it_o can_v be_v satisfy_v but_o many_o seem_v to_o have_v faith_n and_o have_v it_o not_o if_o my_o faith_n be_v true_a i_o can_v gain_v some_o sound_a comfort_n to_o myself_o that_o all_o will_v go_v well_o with_o i_o but_o how_o shall_v i_o know_v that_o answ_n i_o answer_v i_o confess_v that_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o most_o man_n in_o the_o world_n be_v but_o a_o mere_a delusion_n as_o i_o shall_v discover_v in_o the_o next_o use_n of_o reproof_n but_o that_o thou_o may_v be_v undoubted_o persuade_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o this_o grace_n that_o though_o thy_o faith_n be_v never_o so_o little_a yet_o it_o be_v save_v justify_n faith_n i_o will_v therefore_o lay_v down_o some_o trial_n i_o will_v not_o now_o entrench_v upon_o any_o of_o the_o particular_n that_o come_v afterward_o but_o only_o lie_v open_v such_o particular_n for_o trial_n as_o be_v in_o the_o doctrine_n i_o know_v faith_n purify_v the_o heart_n and_o work_n by_o love_n etc._n etc._n and_o faith_n make_v a_o new_a creature_n but_o these_o come_v too_o far_o off_o i_o will_v only_o gather_v somewhat_o from_o the_o point_n in_o hand_n trial_o 1_o first_o observe_v the_o root_n and_o rise_v of_o thy_o faith_n the_o cause_n by_o which_o thy_o faith_n be_v wrought_v and_o from_o whence_o it_o come_v and_o this_o will_v be_v a_o undoubted_a evidence_n whether_o thy_o faith_n be_v good_a or_o not_o therefore_o when_o thou_o do_v begin_v to_o brag_v and_o say_v i_o do_v believe_v then_o ask_v thy_o heart_n this_o question_n and_o say_v how_o come_v i_o by_o it_o prove_v it_o have_v i_o faith_n make_v it_o good_a then_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o say_v so_o but_o let_v i_o see_v that_o it_o be_v so_o do_v thou_o bring_v it_o into_o the_o world_n with_o thou_o do_v thy_o wit_n contrive_v it_o do_v thy_o part_n and_o ability_n work_v it_o and_o because_o thou_o have_v more_o wit_n and_o learning_n than_o other_o and_o thou_o think_v it_o as_o easy_a a_o matter_n to_o believe_v as_o to_o understand_v a_o hard_a writing_n if_o it_o be_v thus_o thy_o faith_n be_v a_o delusion_n and_o no_o faith_n at_o all_o it_o be_v true_a here_o of_o faith_n which_o job_n speak_v of_o wisdom_n nature_n say_v it_o be_v not_o in_o i_o and_o eloquence_n say_v it_o be_v not_o in_o i_o i_o know_v not_o the_o way_n to_o it_o all_o these_o say_v i_o have_v hear_v the_o news_n of_o faith_n but_o i_o be_o not_o acquaint_v with_o it_o god_n only_o know_v the_o way_n thereof_o and_o be_v the_o worker_n of_o it_o the_o text_n say_v every_o man_n than_o have_v hear_v and_o learn_v of_o the_o father_n come_v unto_o i_o the_o father_n must_v first_o teach_v this_o lesson_n or_o else_o no_o man_n can_v understand_v it_o except_o the_o father_n give_v thou_o a_o heart_n to_o know_v jesus_n christ_n there_o be_v no_o power_n in_o
