that_o they_o forget_v all_o he_o speak_v of_o his_o death_n and_o suffering_n thus_o it_o be_v two_o often_o a_o notion_n indeed_o we_o have_v of_o suffering_n be_v the_o lot_n of_o god_n child_n but_o we_o be_v woeful_o want_v when_o it_o come_v to_o the_o application_n either_o in_o reference_n to_o our_o own_o or_o other_o condition_n and_o often_o we_o be_v so_o take_v up_o with_o pore_v on_o some_o temporal_a conditional_a promise_n of_o comfort_n or_o deliverance_n which_o we_o mistake_v for_o absolute_a that_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o conclude_v ourselves_o or_o other_o to_o be_v none_o of_o god_n child_n because_o such_o a_o promise_n be_v not_o fulfil_v to_o we_o or_o not_o in_o our_o time_n this_o may_v be_v a_o second_o cause_n of_o man_n stumble_v at_o the_o godly_z affliction_n 3._o it_o may_v also_o proceed_v from_o hence_o that_o good_a man_n do_v with_o a_o eye_n of_o sense_n poor_a upon_o the_o suffering_n of_o the_o godly_a but_o do_v not_o with_o a_o eye_n of_o faith_n look_v either_o at_o the_o gracious_a promise_n annex_v to_o they_o or_o the_o bless_a issue_n wherewith_o they_o be_v attend_v observable_a be_v that_o expression_n of_o the_o apostle_n suffer_v this_o their_o sense_n inform_v they_o but_o they_o consider_v not_o what_o they_o do_v now_o or_o hereafter_o shall_v enjoy_v that_o be_v the_o proper_a act_n of_o faith_n this_o occasion_n stumble_v both_o way_n for_o as_o to_o the_o wicked_n prosperity_n man_n look_v at_o what_o they_o have_v in_o the_o world_n and_o thereupon_o pronounce_v they_o happy_a but_o they_o consider_v not_o miserable_a but_o they_o consider_v not_o how_o often_o they_o be_v pronounce_v bless_v who_o suffer_v for_o righteousness_n sake_n or_o what_o precious_a promise_n be_v make_v to_o they_o what_o revive_v cordial_n be_v lay_v in_o or_o what_o a_o crown_n of_o glory_n be_v lay_v up_o for_o they_o this_o be_v that_o which_o make_v many_o mistake_n and_o mis-judge_n we_o consider_v job_n affliction_n but_o not_o the_o end_n of_o the_o lord_n we_o be_v apt_a to_o look_v on_o the_o dark_a side_n of_o a_o christian_a and_o to_o take_v notice_n how_o he_o be_v scorch_v with_o the_o sun_n of_o affliction_n but_o do_v not_o observe_v his_o inward_a comeliness_n his_o suffering_n be_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o our_o sense_n but_o the_o present_a promise_v make_v to_o he_o or_o the_o future_a recompense_n lay_v up_o for_o he_o be_v not_o in_o the_o eye_n of_o our_o faith_n and_o this_o cause_n sad_a stumble_n these_o may_v suffice_v as_o reason_n of_o the_o truth_n i_o now_o proceed_v to_o application_n which_o omit_v many_o other_o inference_n shall_v be_v only_o this_o to_o caution_n you_o against_o this_o miscarriage_n use_v that_o which_o be_v david_n petition_n to_o god_n here_o i_o shall_v make_v i_o to_o you_o and_o what_o he_o desire_v of_o god_n for_o the_o godly_a in_o reference_n to_o his_o suffering_n i_o shall_v desire_v of_o you_o all_o in_o reference_n to_o my_o own_o and_o my_o brethren_n suffering_n at_o this_o day_n the_o sum_n of_o my_o caution_n counsel_n or_o request_n be_v that_o all_o of_o you_o whether_n friend_n or_o enemy_n to_o we_o will_v take_v heed_n you_o be_v not_o offend_v in_o we_o or_o any_o way_n stumble_v at_o our_o suffering_n i_o be_o bold_a to_o go_v a_o little_a beyond_o the_o limit_n of_o the_o text_n for_o whereas_o it_o only_o speak_v of_o their_o stumble_n that_o be_v true_o godly_a and_o that_o only_a by_o be_v ashamed_a and_o confound_v i_o extend_v my_o caution_n to_o all_o both_o godly_a and_o wicked_a for_o if_o the_o godly_a much_o more_o the_o wicked_a be_v apt_a to_o stumble_v and_o therefore_o need_v caution_v and_o to_o all_o way_n of_o stumble_v and_o take_v offence_n so_o as_o thereby_o to_o offend_v god_n let_v none_o therefore_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o our_o suffering_n stumble_v either_o at_o our_o person_n by_o disow_v or_o misjudging_a we_o or_o at_o our_o way_n by_o think_v worse_o of_o it_o or_o turn_v from_o it_o or_o at_o any_o weakness_n you_o may_v possible_o discover_v in_o we_o so_o as_o thereby_o to_o be_v discourage_v and_o fall_v from_o your_o own_o steadfastness_n these_o to_o the_o godly_a that_o i_o may_v if_o the_o lord_n please_v remove_v those_o stumble_a block_n at_o which_o both_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o be_v apt_a to_o fall_v and_o miscarry_v when_o i_o
