14.21_o yea_o the_o very_o sore_a of_o those_o sore_a judgement_n the_o sword_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n 14.21_o ezek._n 14.21_o a_o heavy_a judgement_n then_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o destroy_a angel_n and_o as_o war_n be_v worse_a than_o pestilence_n so_o civil_a war_n the_o worst_a war_n of_o all_o other_o in_o which_o with_o every_o stroke_n the_o kingdom_n do_v hurt_v and_o endeavour_v to_o destroy_v itself_o which_o be_v a_o sad_a spectacle_n for_o stranger_n to_o behold_v if_o any_o of_o we_o at_o any_o time_n see_v a_o poor_a man_n in_o a_o epilepsy_n or_o sit_v of_o the_o fall_a sickness_n lie_v beat_v himself_o against_o the_o ground_n bite_v his_o own_o tongue_n and_o bestow_v all_o his_o strength_n to_o raise_v himself_o up_o that_o he_o may_v with_o great_a violence_n cast_v himself_o down_o again_o to_o the_o wound_a and_o break_v of_o himself_o beat_v the_o breath_n out_o of_o his_o body_n as_o it_o may_v fall_v out_o such_o a_o man_n may_v not_o only_o bruise_v his_o flesh_n or_o break_v his_o bone_n but_o destroy_v himself_o can_v we_o in_o this_o case_n do_v less_o than_o lament_v this_o man_n condition_n although_o a_o mere_a stranger_n or_o if_o we_o shall_v see_v any_o man_n so_o bereave_v of_o sense_n or_o desperate_o bend_v by_o delyrancy_n or_o any_o other_o cause_n as_o he_o shall_v wound_v stab_v and_o by_o all_o mean_n endeavour_v to_o destroy_v himself_o one_o hand_n wound_v the_o other_o or_o both_o of_o they_o stab_v he_o in_o his_o own_o bowel_n and_o at_o last_o if_o not_o hinder_v in_o the_o head_n or_o very_a heart_n who_o unless_o without_o all_o bowel_n but_o must_v needs_o be_v affect_v much_o with_o the_o condition_n of_o such_o a_o man_n our_o kingdom_n be_v at_o this_o time_n in_o the_o condition_n of_o a_o man_n in_o a_o epilepsy_n and_o do_v beat_v bruise_v and_o by_o all_o the_o strength_n it_o have_v endeavour_v to_o undo_v and_o destroy_v itself_o it_o be_v so_o delyrant_n by_o the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n as_o it_o do_v study_v its_o own_o ruin_n one_o hand_n wound_v the_o other_o and_o both_o stab_a it_o in_o the_o bowel_n and_o at_o the_o very_a heart_n unless_o the_o lord_n shall_v gracious_o prevent_v it_o now_o if_o there_o be_v cause_n of_o sorrow_n to_o see_v one_o man_n and_o a_o stranger_n in_o such_o a_o condition_n with_o what_o mourning_n shall_v we_o look_v on_o such_o a_o flourish_a kingdom_n in_o sâ—ch_n a_o condition_n who_o can_v think_v of_o so_o many_o man_n lose_v their_o liâ—es_n and_o not_o know_v what_o become_v of_o their_o immortal_a soul_n many_o of_o they_o as_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v be_v unfit_a to_o die_v but_o must_v needs_o mourn_v yet_o this_o be_v not_o all_o the_o cause_n of_o humiliation_n and_o mourning_n if_o we_o look_v up_o high_o from_o earth_n to_o heaven_n from_o man_n to_o god_n we_o shall_v see_v further_o and_o great_a cause_n of_o mourning_n and_o that_o be_v that_o heaven_n lower_v upon_o we_o and_o the_o god_n of_o heaven_n be_v angry_a with_o we_o his_o anger_n be_v not_o turn_v away_o but_o his_o hand_n be_v stretch_v out_o still_o yea_o by_o look_v into_o the_o cause_n of_o this_o continue_a anger_n in_o a_o
god_n so_o full_a of_o pity_n 14._o ezâ—k_n 14._o which_o be_v the_o grievous_a sin_n of_o the_o land_n it_o have_v grievous_o sin_v otherwise_o he_o that_o have_v so_o abound_v in_o goodness_n towards_o it_o have_v never_o send_v so_o sore_a a_o punishment_n upon_o it_o god_n have_v show_v his_o love_n towards_o england_n in_o former_a time_n more_o than_o towards_o any_o nation_n put_v here_o complain_v of_o although_o the_o lord_n have_v thus_o smite_v we_o and_o do_v continue_v to_o declare_v himself_o great_o displease_v with_o we_o yet_o we_o continue_v in_o sin_n and_o provoke_v he_o to_o provide_v heavy_a stroke_n for_o we_o the_o day_n of_o battle_n and_o time_n of_o affliction_n be_v the_o furnace_n that_o show_v what_o mettle_n we_o be_v whether_o gold_n or_o dross_n and_o be_v dross_n we_o may_v fear_v to_o be_v utter_o forsake_v jer._n 6._o final_o there_o be_v yet_o another_o cause_n and_o in_o some_o respect_n great_a than_o the_o former_a and_o this_o be_v a_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v mourn_v because_o the_o kingdom_n do_v not_o mourn_v we_o have_v cause_n of_o deep_a humiliation_n for_o that_o the_o humiliation_n of_o the_o kingdom_n be_v so_o slight_a and_o shallow_a in_o the_o very_a day_n destinate_a to_o humiliation_n and_o mourning_n when_o we_o fast_o it_o be_v rare_o see_v or_o hear_v that_o we_o either_o weep_v or_o sigh_v if_o we_o mourn_v it_o be_v with_o dry_a eye_n and_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v with_o hard_a heart_n and_o herein_o our_o time_n seem_v more_o hard_a than_o any_o israel_n and_o this_o people_n of_o the_o jew_n have_v many_o grievous_a sin_n as_o you_o have_v hear_v in_o which_o we_o be_v as_o bad_a as_o they_o but_o in_o this_o we_o seem_v to_o be_v much_o worse_o if_o you_o look_v throughout_o the_o scripture_n and_o in_o all_o age_n of_o that_o church_n you_o shall_v perceive_v they_o to_o be_v of_o a_o soft_a temper_n when_o the_o lord_n send_v a_o angel_n to_o tell_v they_o that_o he_o will_v not_o drive_v out_o the_o inhabitant_n out_o of_o the_o land_n judge_n 2.4_o the_o people_n hear_v this_o lift_n up_o their_o voice_n and_o weep_v when_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n tell_v our_o people_n some_o year_n pass_v of_o this_o judgement_n we_o now_o suffer_v some_o of_o our_o people_n have_v be_v ready_a to_o laugh_v and_o very_o many_o of_o they_o hear_v it_o as_o a_o fable_n or_o that_o which_o need_v not_o be_v fear_v or_o at_o all_o regard_v they_o when_o they_o hear_v of_o judgement_n come_v on_o the_o land_n or_o be_v in_o danger_n can_v mourn_v as_o 2_o sam._n 15.23_o david_n and_o his_o man_n be_v in_o danger_n the_o story_n say_v that_o all_o the_o country_n weep_v with_o a_o loud_a voice_n and_o josiah_n hear_v what_o be_v threaten_v namely_o that_o they_o shall_v become_v a_o desolation_n etc._n etc._n his_o heart_n be_v tender_a &_o he_o humble_v himself_o before_o the_o lord_n &_o weep_v 2_o kin._n 22.19_o we_o when_o we_o see_v these_o judgement_n that_o make_v way_n for_o desolation_n on_o other_o and_o ourselves_o yet_o we_o shed_v no_o tear_n when_o the_o plague_n break_v in_o upon_o the_o congregation_n numb_a 25.6_o it_o be_v say_v the_o people_n be_v weep_v but_o now_o both_o pestilence_n and_o sword_n be_v on_o the_o land_n and_o rage_n in_o all_o quarter_n of_o it_o yet_o where_o be_v the_o tear_n of_o the_o congregation_n esau_n can_v weep_v for_o the_o loss_n of_o the_o birthright_n but_o in_o our_o time_n man_n mourn_v not_o for_o the_o loss_n of_o birthright_n or_o blessing_n no_o not_o for_o the_o provocation_n of_o wrath_n and_o judgement_n yea_o such_o among_o we_o as_o can_v take_v on_o for_o some_o outward_a loss_n or_o hurt_n and_o weep_v at_o the_o unkindness_n of_o a_o friend_n yet_o shed_v no_o tear_n in_o all_o these_o misery_n 4.9_o james_n 4.9_o that_o exhortation_n of_o saint_n james_n be_v very_o seasonable_a be_v afflict_v and_o mourn_v and_o weep_v let_v your_o laughter_n be_v turn_v to_o mourning_n and_o your_o joy_n to_o heaviness_n in_o the_o five_o chapt._n of_o that_o epistle_n he_o exhort_v rich_a man_n to_o weep_v and_o howl_v for_o the_o misery_n that_o shall_v come_v upon_o england_n now_o a_o break_n and_o ready_a to_o be_v ruin_v with_o smite_v especial_o see_v we_o stand_v here_o before_o the_o lord_n to_o mourn_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o land_n which_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o these_o our_o stripe_n and_o true_o if_o they_o when_o they_o hear_v that_o god_n will_v not_o drive_v out_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o the_o land_n but_o leave_v they_o as_o thorn_n in_o their_o side_n do_v lift_v up_o their_o voice_n and_o weep_v 2.3.5_o judg._n 2.3.5_o so_o as_o the_o place_n be_v think_v worthy_a to_o be_v name_v bochim_n weeper_n now_o that_o god_n be_v about_o to_o destroy_v and_o drive_v out_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o the_o land_n shall_v not_o we_o so_o weep_v as_o the_o place_n of_o our_o tear_n may_v be_v make_v a_o bochim_n sure_o i_o be_o we_o may_v weep_v much_o cry_v long_o and_o loud_o before_o the_o cry_n of_o our_o prayer_n shall_v outcry_n our_o cry_a sin_n and_o as_o this_o duty_n belong_v to_o we_o all_o in_o general_a so_o especial_o unto_o such_o as_o be_v over_o the_o rest_n whether_o of_o judah_n 17._o joel_n 1.14_o &_o chap._n 2.16_o 17._o the_o ruler_n and_o teacher_n of_o the_o people_n who_o at_o such_o time_n as_o these_o be_v aught_o to_o be_v chief_a in_o this_o duty_n and_o be_v to_o mourn_v not_o only_o for_o their_o own_o sin_n but_o as_o it_o be_v to_o bear_v the_o iniquity_n of_o the_o after_o these_o warning_n and_o smiting_n have_v reason_n to_o resolve_v with_o jeremiah_n if_o you_o will_v not_o hear_v it_o my_o soul_n shall_v weep_v in_o secret_a place_n for_o your_o pride_n
