he_o have_v his_o desire_n without_o abate_v the_o happiness_n of_o his_o neighbour_n and_o the_o woman_n be_v too_o in_o her_o become_a evil_n and_o find_v its_o consequence_n and_o here_o i_o can_v but_o take_v notice_n of_o the_o a_o foolish_a abuse_n common_a among_o mankind_n that_o be_v they_o confident_o call_v the_o desire_n one_o man_n have_v to_o another_o wife_n or_o a_o woman_n to_o another_o husband_n with_o all_o such_o disorderly_a desire_n by_o the_o name_n of_o love_n meaning_n love_n to_o the_o person_n desire_v when_o it_o be_v nothing_o less_o be_v always_o that_o which_o so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v satisfy_v divers_a way_n effect_n the_o unhappiness_n of_o the_o person_n say_v to_o be_v belove_v which_o such_o a_o lover_n can_v hardly_o be_v so_o blind_a as_o not_o to_o see_v yea_o far_o that_o it_o be_v but_o a_o self-love_n if_o it_o can_v be_v call_v love_n at_o all_o and_o a_o gross_o mistake_v one_o too_o render_v the_o lover_n himself_o more_o unhappy_a than_o he_o will_v have_v be_v have_v he_o never_o so_o affect_v though_o he_o enjoy_v the_o object_n of_o his_o love_n i_o will_v say_v his_o lust_n for_o that_o be_v the_o proper_a name_n on_o it_o but_o to_o draw_v towards_o a_o conclusion_n of_o this_o matter_n i_o say_v whatever_o a_o man_n desire_n the_o act_n of_o desire_n be_v free_a to_o suppose_v otherwise_o will_v be_v all_o one_o as_o to_o suppose_v volition_n not_o to_o be_v volition_n or_o a_o will_v not_o a_o will._n a_o will_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v compel_v for_o though_o it_o can_v but_o act_n or_o be_v it_o be_v free_o or_o and_o volition_n be_v volition_n or_o to_o be_v willing_a be_v to_o be_v willing_a and_o a_o man_n be_v in_o short_a more_o proper_o say_v to_o will_n or_o desire_v evil_o than_o to_o desire_v a_o be_v good_a but_o that_o every_o act_n of_o their_o desire_n though_o they_o desire_v good_a have_v some_o evil_a circumstance_n or_o other_o as_o a_o evil_a manner_n evil_a mean_n or_o evil_a end_n etc._n etc._n now_o god_n as_o abovesaid_a can_v will_v either_o a_o evil_a or_o evil_o his_o will_n be_v the_o rule_n of_o good_a and_o to_o suppose_v god_n to_o will_v evil_a will_v be_v all_o one_o the_o other_o hand_n if_o one_o woman_n shall_v have_v more_o husband_n and_o if_o one_o woman_n do_v not_o happen_v to_o be_v enough_o in_o the_o conceit_n of_o her_o husband_n or_o the_o man_n for_o i_o say_v because_o it_o do_v not_o appear_v that_o god_n make_v thing_n unchangeable_a but_o rather_o in_o a_o condition_n tend_v to_o alteration_n so_o that_o though_o it_o be_v good_a yea_o perhaps_o best_o for_o the_o creature_n to_o be_v so_o and_o so_o at_o one_o time_n yet_o it_o be_v good_a or_o best_a at_o another_o time_n to_o be_v in_o some_o respect_n otherwise_o the_o intelligent_a creature_n at_o least_o man_n as_o he_o come_v from_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n appear_v capable_a of_o a_o increase_n of_o knowledge_n and_o of_o satisfaction_n and_o though_o at_o first_o it_o be_v very_o good_a yet_o it_o be_v capable_a of_o better_a be_v in_o that_o respect_n and_o the_o good_a will_n of_o god_n in_o make_v thing_n be_v not_o to_o be_v consider_v mere_o in_o their_o first_o make_n but_o as_o a_o continual_a act_n reach_v to_o the_o creature_n whole_a duration_n now_o the_o way_n of_o the_o creature_n well_o be_v better_a be_v yea_o best_o possible_a be_v viz._n it_o be_v most_o clear_a behold_v the_o perfection_n of_o god_n intense_v loving_n and_o compleat_a satisfaction_n in_o he_o depend_v on_o the_o most_o wise_a good_a will_n and_o pleasure_n of_o god_n which_o must_v be_v know_v as_o a_o rule_n and_o guide_n unto_o that_o end_n viz._n that_o the_o creature_n will_v as_o god_n will_v to_o its_o utmost_a capacity_n and_o be_v please_v with_o whatever_o god_n do_v who_o can_v do_v nothing_o but_o good_n this_o conformity_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v the_o only_a possible_a way_n for_o the_o creature_n to_o be_v as_o much_o themselves_o and_o can_v create_v perception_n as_o we_o find_v ourselves_o affect_v or_o sensible_a of_o those_o thought_n we_o shall_v if_o we_o consider_v find_v ourselves_o force_v to_o acknowledge_v our_o sensibility_n of_o the_o cause_n of_o they_o if_o i_o see_v or_o hear_v and_o so_o suffer_v a_o thought_n and_o be_o not_o the_o cause_n of_o this_o sensation_n nor_o can_v the_o object_n of_o these_o sensation_n cause_v they_o in_o i_o there_o must_v be_v some_o agent_n or_o gause_n of_o this_o passion_n and_o that_o can_v be_v none_o but_o god_n and_o as_o we_o believe_v god_n and_o he_o only_o be_v able_a to_o create_v or_o cause_v thought_n or_o perception_n in_o we_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o other_o our_o fellow-creature_n and_o thought_n or_o perception_n of_o thought_n especial_o in_o divers_a passion_n tend_v to_o the_o rectify_v the_o disorderly_a will_n where_o perhaps_o they_o can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v more_o sensible_a of_o any_o thing_n than_o of_o god_n act_v strong_o upon_o they_o and_o that_o not_o bare_o in_o make_v impression_n on_o their_o understanding_n and_o no_o more_o where_o they_o mere_o suffer_v the_o object_n but_o by_o those_o impression_n give_v the_o clear_a and_o mighty_a argument_n to_o persuade_v and_o change_v their_o volition_n and_o better_o determine_v the_o act_n of_o their_o will_n their_o own_o proper_a action_n again_o every_o man_n if_o he_o consider_v will_v find_v he_o have_v a_o will_n as_o it_o be_v disproportionable_a to_o any_o thing_n in_o himself_o or_o in_o other_o creature_n a_o mighty_a desire_n be_v our_o experience_n that_o we_o be_v and_o that_o we_o find_v by_o consideration_n that_o god_n must_v be_v or_o we_o can_v not_o be_v it_o present_o appear_v what_o he_o be_v to_o we_o viz._n our_o cause_n our_o maker_n producer_n or_o father_n and_o consequent_o that_o he_o be_v our_o owner_n sovereign_a lord_n and_o ruler_n he_o that_o know_v we_o perfect_o both_o as_o to_o what_o he_o have_v make_v we_o and_o what_o his_o end_n be_v in_o make_v we_o he_o can_v be_v suppose_v to_o make_v any_o thing_n of_o which_o he_o be_v ignorant_a in_o either_o of_o these_o respect_n he_o must_v also_o be_v suppose_v to_o have_v will_n and_o power_n yet_o will_n and_o power_n in_o god_n be_v proper_o but_o two_o word_n for_o the_o same_o thing_n and_o his_o power_n or_o will_n to_o make_v and_o admire_v he_o and_o to_o move_v one_o another_o to_o acknowledge_v and_o admire_v his_o wisdom_n goodness_n and_o power_n so_o conspicuous_a in_o the_o curious_a and_o mighty_a system_n of_o the_o creation_n and_o in_o so_o do_v to_o be_v please_v or_o happy_a god_n be_v in_o himself_o absolute_a goodness_n and_o so_o perfect_o happy_a or_o please_v with_o himself_o be_v please_v to_o make_v creature_n capable_a of_o happiness_n or_o pleasure_n by_o the_o communication_n of_o his_o goodness_n who_o be_v not_o only_o good_a or_o perfect_a enough_o in_o himself_o to_o be_v altogether_o happy_a or_o please_v but_o his_o goodness_n be_v also_o enough_o to_o make_v a_o world_n of_o creature_n happy_a or_o please_v also_o by_o have_v he_o the_o object_n of_o their_o understanding_n and_o will._n the_o creature_n experience_v god_n wisdom_n power_n and_o goodness_n be_v due_o affect_v with_o it_o and_o endeavour_v to_o affect_v its_o fellow_n be_v say_v to_o glorify_v god_n not_o to_o make_v he_o glorious_a that_o be_v show_v forth_o perfection_n but_o to_o see_v he_o such_o and_o be_v a_o instrument_n to_o cause_v he_o to_o be_v see_v such_o god_n be_v essential_o wise_a good_a and_o powerful_a that_o be_v know_v and_o love_v himself_o and_o able_a to_o make_v representation_n of_o his_o excellency_n if_o he_o please_v to_o make_v any_o thing_n can_v but_o make_v they_o such_o as_o become_v he_o viz._n good_a and_o for_o good_a that_o be_v such_o as_o be_v capable_a of_o be_v please_v with_o be_v what_o and_o how_o he_o have_v make_v they_o and_o will_v they_o to_o be_v that_o be_v knower_n and_o lover_n of_o he_o so_o that_o there_o appear_v in_o god_n as_o consider_v in_o relation_n to_o we_o chief_o power_n in_o produce_v we_o wisdom_n and_o goodness_n as_o to_o the_o what_o and_o to_o what_o end_n he_o have_v make_v we_o what_o god_n be_v and_o will_v be_v find_v to_o be_v to_o we_o consider_v as_o otherwise_o than_o he_o this_o obligation_n be_v that_o which_o be_v proper_o call_v religion_n man_n have_v by_o consider_v himself_o find_v god_n or_o his_o own_o cause_n have_v find_v what_o god_n be_v and_o do_v in_o himself_o and_o in_o relation_n to_o we_o what_o he_o have_v cause_v we_o to_o be_v who_o be_v nothing_o of_o ourselves_o the_o great_a question_n that_o concern_v we_o be_v what_o we_o ought_v or_o what_o it_o become_v we_o to_o do_v and_o that_o be_v in_o short_a to_o exercise_v our_o will_n aright_o that_o be_v suitable_a to_o or_o become_v the_o relation_n we_o stand_v in_o to_o god_n and_o one_o another_o so_o as_o become_v such_o creature_n of_o such_o a_o creator_n we_o be_v sure_o he_o can_v be_v or_o act_v towards_o we_o but_o as_o become_v he_o that_o be_v best_a and_o that_o we_o may_v do_v this_o our_o duty_n aright_o we_o ought_v first_o to_o seek_v god_n that_o be_v study_v to_o know_v he_o more_o and_o more_o that_o the_o regular_a act_n of_o our_o will_n may_v be_v strong_a and_o strong_a for_o the_o more_o true_o and_o clear_o we_o behold_v he_o the_o object_n the_o more_o orderly_a and_o the_o more_o strong_o will_v the_o act_n of_o our_o will_n be_v about_o he_o now_o god_n be_v a_o absolute_o perfect_a be_v and_o consequent_o one_o who_o can_v have_v no_o act_n of_o will_n but_o such_o as_o become_v himself_o or_o be_v pefect_o good_a in_o relation_n to_o himself_o and_o his_o work_n our_o willing_a suitable_o or_o orderly_o be_v determine_v and_o make_v such_o by_o the_o conformity_n of_o our_o will_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n willing_a as_o he_o will_v we_o shall_v now_o to_o will_v what_o god_n will_v we_o to_o will_v be_v the_o essence_n sum_n and_o substance_n of_o all_o religion_n i_o do_v not_o say_v
because_o it_o become_v we_o to_o imitate_v god_n as_o much_o as_o we_o can_v and_o it_o be_v good_a for_o we_o so_o to_o do_v this_o i_o say_v be_v the_o whole_a law_n natural_o write_v in_o our_o orderly_a stream_n of_o our_o thought_n and_o external_a action_n if_o we_o love_v god_n as_o we_o shall_v or_o desire_v as_o he_o desire_v we_o shall_v hate_v to_o do_v otherwise_o fear_v to_o do_v otherwise_o our_o aversation_n and_o avoid_v that_o which_o be_v not_o right_o be_v determine_v by_o our_o love_v that_o which_o be_v right_a and_o when_o we_o once_o true_o love_v god_n we_o shall_v be_v willing_a to_o study_v his_o will_n that_o we_o may_v not_o ignorant_o act_v contrary_a thereto_o have_v find_v god_n our_o cause_n selfsufficient_a and_o all-perfect_a in_o himself_o we_o can_v but_o acknowledge_v it_o fit_a and_o proper_a to_o be_v true_a and_o acknowledge_v he_o such_o as_o he_o be_v there_o can_v be_v no_o reason_n that_o we_o shall_v deny_v what_o we_o know_v to_o be_v true_a it_o be_v apparent_a that_o he_o be_v the_o most_o high_a the_o great_a be_v and_o we_o be_v thing_n infinite_o less_o nay_o nothing_o of_o ourselves_o we_o be_v but_o the_o effect_n of_o the_o will_n of_o the_o most_o wise_a good_a powerful_a cause_n on_o which_o consideration_n it_o be_v most_o evident_o fit_v for_o we_o to_o submit_v to_o his_o guidance_n and_o direction_n as_o confide_v in_o his_o wisdom_n goodness_n and_o power_n that_o he_o know_v and_o will_n and_o can_v do_v that_o which_o be_v best_a for_o we_o and_o to_o confess_v the_o shortness_n of_o our_o understanding_n as_o we_o be_v but_o creature_n and_o know_v infinite_o less_o than_o he_o and_o consequent_o our_o will_n can_v be_v so_o good_a as_o he_o hence_o also_o it_o natural_o follow_v that_o if_o god_n have_v make_v we_o good_a or_o as_o become_v the_o best_a be_v to_o make_v and_o capable_a of_o good_a or_o pleasure_n we_o shall_v be_v thankful_a for_o our_o be_v and_o rejoice_v or_o take_v pleasure_n in_o consider_v god_n wisdom_n goodness_n and_o power_n so_o shall_v we_o be_v ready_a to_o comply_v with_o his_o will_n as_o instrument_n in_o manifest_v and_o communicate_v his_o power_n wisdom_n and_o goodness_n to_o ourselves_o and_o our_o fellow_n creature_n and_o hate_v fear_v and_o avoid_v be_v a_o hindrance_n in_o any_o of_o these_o again_o we_o be_v rational_o oblige_v from_o the_o consideration_n of_o god_n and_o his_o will_n to_o we_o in_o relation_n to_o those_o part_n of_o the_o creation_n he_o seem_v to_o have_v make_v for_o our_o sake_n and_o use_n to_o use_v they_o so_o as_o we_o may_v see_v most_o of_o god_n perfection_n through_o they_o and_o as_o we_o may_v receive_v most_o good_a or_o pleasure_n by_o they_o and_o how_o this_o be_v to_o be_v do_v he_o have_v make_v we_o capable_a by_o a_o little_a reason_n and_o attention_n to_o find_v out_o as_o his_o will_n which_o we_o have_v all_o reason_n to_o submit_v to_o trust_v his_o wisdom_n as_o the_o absolute_a rule_n wherein_o he_o direct_v we_o he_o know_v best_o how_o these_o end_n may_v be_v attain_v and_o his_o goodness_n that_o he_o be_v willing_a they_o shall_v god_n have_v make_v all_o thing_n to_o show_v his_o own_o perfection_n to_o those_o creature_n he_o have_v make_v capable_a of_o see_v they_o and_o to_o make_v they_o happy_a or_o please_v who_o he_o have_v make_v capable_a of_o happiness_n or_o pleasure_n in_o the_o use_n of_o they_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o believe_v these_o creature_n have_v nothing_o in_o themselves_o that_o can_v affect_v we_o with_o pleasure_n but_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n we_o shall_v have_v pleasure_n in_o the_o use_n of_o they_o that_o thereby_o we_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o he_o the_o fountain_n of_o all_o satisfaction_n 16._o if_o this_o account_n of_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v not_o particular_a enough_o yet_o a_o little_a far_o first_o it_o be_v apparent_a that_o have_v find_v our_o author_n or_o cause_n that_o only_o selfsufficient_a and_o all-sufficient_a be_v we_o call_v god_n the_o father_n of_o all_o thing_n we_o shall_v not_o only_o take_v he_o for_o such_o but_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v no_o other_o in_o the_o like_a esteem_n or_o let_v he_o have_v any_o corrival_n in_o our_o thought_n that_o one_o single_a supreme_a be_v must_v have_v no_o fellow_n in_o our_o heart_n the_o most_o exact_a or_o a_o representation_n of_o he_o he_o himself_o have_v make_v such_o we_o must_v not_o think_v therefore_o of_o any_o second_o as_o we_o think_v of_o he_o the_o first_o nor_o desire_v another_o equal_o with_o he_o he_o must_v have_v the_o high_a place_n or_o be_v the_o only_a god_n both_o in_o our_o judgement_n and_o affection_n who_o be_v high_a first_o and_o best_a or_o we_o shall_v be_v unjust_a untrue_a and_o ungrateful_a second_o nor_o must_v we_o if_o we_o be_v oblige_v to_o think_v aright_o of_o he_o and_o due_o esteem_v he_o presume_v to_o make_v of_o our_o own_o fancy_n any_o thing_n than_o if_o we_o come_v to_o the_o fountain_n himself_o of_o all_o goodness_n and_o beneficence_n three_o neither_o if_o we_o be_v oblige_v to_o prosecute_v the_o end_n and_o design_n of_o god_n in_o the_o manifestation_n of_o himself_o must_v we_o mention_v any_o of_o his_o attribute_n or_o property_n whereby_o he_o be_v know_v to_o no_o purpose_n or_o idle_o for_o god_n be_v no_o vain_a or_o trivial_a be_v nor_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n small_a or_o of_o little_a weight_n belong_v to_o he_o who_o be_v the_o supreme_a or_o selfsufficient_a be_v or_o a_o matter_n light_o or_o bold_o to_o be_v play_v with_o by_o his_o creature_n who_o be_v even_o the_o high_a of_o they_o unnecessary_a being_n or_o nothing_o in_o themselves_o and_o compare_v with_o god_n infinite_o beneath_o he_o much_o the_o profession_n of_o our_o acknowledgement_n of_o our_o maker_n to_o other_o that_o thereby_o they_o may_v be_v teach_v stir_v up_o to_o and_o strengthen_v in_o the_o same_o acknowledgement_n and_o due_a homage_n to_o their_o author_n and_o that_o at_o the_o same_o time_n we_o all_o may_v enjoy_v the_o necessary_a benefit_n of_o a_o cessation_n from_o the_o fatigue_n of_o bodily_a work_n which_o common_o take_v up_o six_o time_n as_o much_o time_n in_o proportion_n as_o our_o mental_a and_o more_o noble_a exercise_n beside_o that_o our_o whole_a time_n be_v rather_o number_v by_o seven_n independent_a be_v it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o god_n alone_o and_o only_o possible_a to_o he_o who_o be_v selfsufficient_a and_o all-perfect_a to_o be_v please_v in_o himself_o but_o as_o for_o the_o creature_n so_o far_o and_o so_o long_o as_o it_o continue_v in_o its_o private_a and_o self-will_n so_o far_o and_o so_o long_o it_o must_v be_v unhappy_a that_o which_o it_o will_n can_v always_o or_o long_o be_v do_v unless_o god_n will_v the_o same_o and_o to_o will_v what_o one_o can_v have_v be_v the_o ground_n of_o all_o possible_a unhappiness_n and_o though_o a_o creature_n
