those_o man_n trouble_v for_o this_o privy_a pride_n they_o be_v touch_v or_o not_o touch_v if_o the_o veil_n of_o sin_n be_v great_a in_o they_o that_o it_o hide_v christ_n from_o they_o it_o be_v the_o good_a will_n of_o god_n that_o by_o this_o sight_n of_o their_o most_o secret_a sin_n they_o shall_v come_v to_o see_v the_o righteousness_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o so_o they_o shall_v be_v keep_v the_o better_a from_o be_v justiciarie_a pharisy_n for_o when_o be_v a_o long_a time_n well_o bring_v up_o &_o lead_v a_o civil_a life_n the_o devil_n will_v persuade_v we_o of_o corruption_n and_o to_o return_v from_o whence_o we_o be_v digress_v to_o the_o examination_n of_o our_o heart_n in_o sin_n to_o come_v let_v we_o observe_v that_o in_o god_n child_n there_o be_v such_o a_o jealousy_n that_o they_o tremble_v at_o the_o very_a first_o motion_n and_o quake_v at_o the_o least_o occasion_n to_o sin_n although_o because_o vice_n will_v sit_v in_o residence_n very_o never_o unto_o virtue_n there_o may_v be_v in_o they_o sometime_o too_o much_o scrupulousnes_n this_o fear_n cause_v the_o dear_a of_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n to_o reason_n on_o this_o sort_n o_o so_o require_v and_o in_o look_v chief_o to_o the_o soul_n which_o so_o few_o think_v of_o if_o a_o man_n trouble_v in_o conscience_n come_v to_o a_o minister_n it_o may_v be_v he_o will_v look_v all_o to_o the_o soul_n and_o nothing_o all_o to_o the_o body_n if_o he_o come_v to_o a_o physician_n he_o only_o consider_v of_o the_o body_n &_o neglect_v the_o soul_n for_o my_o part_n i_o will_v never_o have_v the_o physician_n counsel_v sever_v nor_o the_o minister_n labour_v neglect_v because_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n dwell_v together_o it_o be_v convenient_a that_o as_o the_o soul_n shall_v be_v cure_v by_o the_o word_n by_o prayer_n and_o by_o fast_v by_o threaten_v or_o by_o comfort_v so_o the_o body_n also_o shall_v be_v bring_v into_o some_o temperature_n by_o physic_n by_o purge_v by_o diet_n by_o restore_v by_o music_n and_o by_o such_o like_a mean_n provyde_v always_o that_o it_o be_v still_o do_v so_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o wisdom_n of_o his_o spirit_n as_o we_o think_v not_o by_o these_o ordinary_a mean_n to_o smother_v or_o smoke_n out_o our_o trouble_n but_o as_o purpose_v to_o use_v they_o as_o preparative_n whereby_o both_o our_o soul_n and_o for_o when_o the_o trouble_a patient_n shall_v be_v persuade_v of_o our_o knowledge_n and_o discretion_n and_o therewithal_o shall_v perceive_v we_o to_o come_v in_o tender_a and_o love_a affection_n i_o think_v a_o entrance_n be_v in_o a_o manner_n make_v and_o all_o prejudice_n be_v take_v away_o so_o as_o we_o may_v the_o more_o free_o work_v upon_o the_o greeved_a conscience_n first_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o sight_n of_o sin_n as_o to_o some_o cause_n of_o their_o trouble_n herein_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o put_v away_o all_o confusion_n and_o blindness_n of_o sorrow_n endevor_v by_o wisdom_n to_o bring_v the_o part_n wound_v to_o some_o certain_a object_n &_o matter_n of_o their_o trouble_n and_o so_o draw_v out_o of_o they_o the_o confession_n of_o some_o especial_a secret_a and_o several_a sin_n i_o say_v secret_a and_o several_a sin_n because_o i_o know_v how_o many_o through_o a_o palpable_a blindness_n or_o disorder_a discern_v of_o sin_n talk_n nothing_o so_o much_o as_o of_o sin_n and_o yet_o they_o either_o descry_v several_a sin_n or_o they_o will_v not_o be_v bring_v to_o acknowledge_v their_o secret_a sin_n whereof_o the_o one_o proceed_v of_o the_o ignorance_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n the_o other_o of_o self_n love_n which_o make_v we_o loath_a in_o our_o travail_n of_o mind_n to_o shame_v ourselves_o now_o that_o the_o confession_n of_o particular_a sin_n be_v requisite_a it_o may_v appear_v by_o the_o two_o and_o thirty_o psalm_n wherein_o be_v a_o psalm_n of_o instruction_n concern_v the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n the_o prophet_n better_o than_o we_o ourselves_o yet_o such_o kind_n of_o sacrifice_n be_v most_o acceptable_a unto_o he_o now_o if_o in_o this_o trouble_n the_o person_n humble_v can_v not_o come_v to_o the_o particular_a sight_n of_o sin_n in_o themselves_o it_o be_v good_a to_o use_v the_o help_n of_o other_o unto_o who_o they_o may_v offer_v their_o heart_n to_o be_v gage_v and_o search_v and_o their_o life_n to_o be_v examine_v more_o deep_o by_o hear_v the_o several_a article_n of_o the_o law_n lay_v open_a before_o they_o whereby_o they_o may_v square_v the_o whole_a course_n of_o their_o action_n for_o as_o we_o say_v before_o the_o gross_a hypocrite_n will_v general_o complain_v of_o sin_n and_o yet_o deal_v with_o they_o in_o particular_a point_n of_o particular_a precept_n &_o prove_v they_o in_o apply_v of_o thing_n to_o be_v do_v or_o undo_v to_o their_o own_o conscience_n and_o we_o shall_v see_v many_o of_o these_o poor_a soul_n toss_v too_o and_o fro_o now_o float_v either_o for_o some_o sin_n already_o commit_v wherein_o we_o lie_v or_o else_o for_o some_o sin_n as_o yet_o not_o commit_v whereunto_o we_o be_v tempt_v for_o the_o former_a it_o please_v god_n oftentimes_o to_o bring_v old_a sin_n to_o mind_n when_o we_o not_o true_o repent_v of_o they_o before_o that_o so_o as_o it_o be_v represent_v they_o to_o we_o afresh_o we_o may_v fall_v into_o a_o more_o mislike_v of_o they_o and_o yet_o herein_o be_v not_o all_o to_o mislike_v ourselves_o for_o some_o particulars_n although_o it_o be_v good_a to_o be_v occupy_v about_o some_o special_a sin_n for_o as_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o the_o avoid_n of_o hypocrisy_n to_o see_v some_o general_o so_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o eschew_v the_o deceavablenes_n of_o the_o heart_n ever_o to_o be_v pore_a busy_o in_o one_o particular_a and_o to_o be_v forgetful_a of_o the_o great_a and_o general_a sin_n and_o let_v we_o learn_v by_o the_o particular_n to_o pass_v by_o the_o general_n when_o any_o such_o
