justification_n in_o god_n pardon_v of_o sin_n they_o may_v please_v to_o consider_v that_o the_o benefit_n of_o remission_n of_o sin_n do_v not_o signify_v the_o less_o by_o be_v call_v only_o by_o its_o proper_a name_n pardon_v or_o forgiveness_n and_o not_o justification_n if_o by_o justification_n be_v mean_v only_a remission_n of_o sin_n as_o they_o hold_v it_o be_v who_o limit_n justification_n only_o to_o that_o and_o if_o remission_n of_o sin_n signify_v no_o more_o when_o we_o call_v it_o justification_n than_o it_o do_v when_o we_o call_v it_o pardon_v or_o forgiveness_n have_v perform_v the_o condition_n on_o which_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o eternal_a life_n be_v promise_v make_v the_o privilege_n of_o have_v our_o sin_n forgive_v the_o less_o beneficial_a to_o we_o or_o the_o less_o of_o grace_n from_o god_n and_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o god_n approve_v we_o to_o be_v righteous_a in_o a_o gospel_n sense_n do_v not_o suppose_v or_o imply_v that_o we_o stand_v in_o no_o need_n of_o pardon_n nor_o of_o that_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o merit_n of_o christ_n from_o which_o pardon_n flow_v it_o only_o suppose_v we_o to_o be_v righteous_a with_o such_o a_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n on_o condition_n of_o which_o the_o promise_n of_o pardon_n of_o all_o our_o sin_n be_v make_v through_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n but_o god_n justify_v of_o we_o or_o his_o approve_v of_o we_o to_o be_v righteous_a in_o such_o a_o sense_n do_v not_o make_v our_o sin_n to_o become_v no_o sin_n nor_o be_v it_o i_o conceive_v god_n pardon_v act_n but_o yet_o it_o consider_v how_o express_a the_o scripture_n be_v elsewhere_o for_o a_o judicial_a justification_n to_o wit_n god_n justify_v we_o by_o faith_n and_o by_o account_v or_o adjudge_v faith_n to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n or_o for_o a_o performance_n of_o the_o term_n of_o the_o gospel_n our_o conformity_n whereto_o be_v as_o true_o our_o evangelical_n righteousness_n as_o our_o conformity_n to_o the_o term_n of_o the_o law_n will_v have_v be_v a_o legal_a righteousness_n if_o it_o have_v be_v find_v in_o we_o to_o begin_v now_o with_o act_n 13.39_o

and_o full_o appear_v by_o those_o scripture_n which_o tell_v we_o that_o god_n do_v justify_v we_o by_o faith_n and_o that_o he_o do_v impute_v or_o account_v faith_n to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n one_o vein_n of_o scripture_n acquaint_v we_o that_o god_n justifi_v we_o by_o faith_n and_o through_o faith_n rom._n 3.28_o 30._o and_o 5.1_o gal._n 2.16_o and_o 3.8_o by_o another_o vein_n of_o text_n we_o be_v tell_v that_o god_n impute_v account_n and_o reckon_v faith_n to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n gen._n 15.6_o rom._n 4.3_o 5_o 11_o 22_o 24._o gal._n 3.6_o jam._n 2.23_o now_o these_o two_o vein_n of_o scripture_n put_v together_o the_o sense_n that_o result_v out_o of_o they_o be_v i_o think_v plain_o this_o that_o god_n justify_v we_o by_o account_v our_o faith_n to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n this_o be_v so_o plain_a as_o that_o i_o know_v not_o what_o can_v well_o be_v plain_a in_o the_o one_o vein_n it_o be_v say_v that_o god_n justifi_v we_o by_o faith_n in_o the_o other_o that_o he_o impute_v and_o reckon_v faith_n to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n and_o for_o god_n to_o account_v faith_n to_o we_o for_o righteousness_n and_o to_o reckon_v and_o adjudge_v we_o to_o be_v righteous_a upon_o the_o account_n of_o our_o faith_n signify_v i_o think_v the_o same_o
unexpected_o without_o any_o labour_n or_o industry_n of_o they_o but_o will_v any_o man_n in_o hope_n it_o may_v so_o fall_v out_o with_o he_o neglect_v to_o labour_n in_o his_o call_n for_o a_o livelihood_n to_o be_v sure_a no_o man_n worthy_a the_o name_n of_o a_o man_n will_n what_o folly_n then_o be_v to_o be_v compare_v with_o that_o which_o such_o man_n commit_v that_o despise_v their_o own_o soul_n in_o take_v less_o care_n for_o they_o though_o of_o eternal_a duration_n than_o for_o this_o short_a and_o transitory_a life_n but_o yet_o although_o god_n have_v not_o promise_v that_o any_o shall_v have_v but_o those_o that_o ask_v nor_o find_v except_o they_o seek_v nor_o have_v it_o open_v to_o they_o unless_o they_o knock_v to_o the_o end_n that_o none_o may_v promise_v themselves_o a_o obtain_v without_o so_o do_v and_o although_o god_n vouchsafe_v unto_o man_n the_o gospel_n as_o a_o mean_n sufficient_a of_o itself_o to_o persuade_v they_o to_o consider_v their_o eternal_a concern_v and_o to_o look_v after_o they_o more_o than_o any_o thing_n that_o concern_v only_o this_o present_a life_n and_o to_o learn_v they_o without_o all_o excuse_n if_o they_o do_v not_o yet_o when_o i_o consider_v the_o exceed_a riches_n of_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n and_o how_o full_a of_o compassion_n he_o be_v and_o how_o unwilling_a he_o be_v that_o any_o shall_v perish_v i_o can_v i_o confess_v but_o think_v that_o he_o do_v more_o to_o prevent_v the_o destruction_n even_o of_o those_o that_o do_v perish_v than_o what_o be_v absolute_o necessary_a and_o bare_o sufficient_a to_o prevent_v it_o if_o man_n do_v not_o through_o their_o own_o obstinacy_n and_o wilfulness_n receive_v such_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o vain_a i_o can_v but_o think_v that_o god_n do_v more_o to_o bring_v man_n to_o repentance_n both_o those_o that_o do_v and_o those_o that_o do_v not_o actual_o and_o eventual_o repent_v than_o what_o he_o ever_o promise_v or_o engage_v himself_o to_o do_v by_o his_o spirit_n strive_v with_o they_o by_o many_o inward_a and_o secret_a motion_n and_o operation_n upon_o their_o mind_n and_o conscience_n until_o by_o long_a and_o obstinate_a resistance_n the_o good_a spirit_n be_v cause_v to_o withdraw_v his_o application_n by_o which_o withdraw_v that_o which_o they_o before_o have_v be_v take_v from_o they_o according_a to_o what_o be_v threaten_v to_o such_o as_o will_v not_o improve_v their_o talon_n and_o they_o deliver_v up_o to_o a_o reprobate_a mind_n to_o be_v harden_v why_o shall_v we_o not_o think_v but_o that_o god_n be_v as_o ready_a by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o excite_v and_o stir_v up_o man_n to_o that_o which_o tend_v to_o their_o happiness_n as_o evil_a spirit_n be_v to_o tempt_v they_o to_o that_o which_o tend_v to_o their_o destruction_n when_o all_o the_o method_n whereby_o god_n seek_v to_o bring_v man_n to_o repentance_n be_v thwart_v and_o withstand_v the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v in_o scripture_n then_o say_v to_o be_v resist_v which_o show_v that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v much_o concern_v in_o those_o method_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o when_o the_o scripture_n say_v that_o god_n will_v have_v all_o man_n to_o be_v save_v we_o may_v safe_o conclude_v that_o he_o use_v all_o mean_n both_o internal_a and_o external_a to_o effect_v it_o so_o far_o as_o be_v agreeable_a to_o his_o perfect_a and_o unerring_a wisdom_n when_o all_o circumstance_n in_o the_o case_n be_v weigh_v and_o consider_v and_o that_o it_o be_v real_o better_a and_o will_v appear_v so_o one_o day_n that_o such_o man_n shall_v perish_v which_o do_v perish_v rather_o than_o any_o more_o shall_v be_v do_v by_o god_n to_o prevent_v it_o than_o he_o have_v do_v before_o destruction_n befall_v they_o and_o it_o be_v better_a not_o because_o god_n take_v more_o pleasure_n in_o the_o damnation_n than_o in_o the_o salvation_n of_o such_o as_o perish_v simple_o and_o in_o itself_o consider_v for_o he_o himself_o have_v tell_v we_o and_o swear_v it_o lest_o we_o shall_v not_o firm_o believe_v it_o that_o he_o have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o death_n of_o the_o wicked_a but_o that_o the_o
