comparison_n between_o paul_n and_o we_o on_o the_o one_o side_n the_o old_a jew_n and_o the_o papist_n on_o the_o other_o now_o because_o it_o will_v be_v demand_v what_o paul_n think_v of_o the_o work_n of_o regeneration_n and_o what_o we_o and_o what_o the_o adversary_n think_v also_o therefore_o i_o will_v touch_v this_o question_n in_o few_o word_n here_o then_o some_o one_o will_v say_v a_o especial_a grace_n these_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v distinguish_v not_o in_o time_n but_o in_o nature_n for_o at_o that_o very_o same_o instant_n we_o believe_v and_o be_v effectual_o call_v and_o do_v repent_v and_o be_v justify_v and_o be_v regenerate_v chap._n xxxv_o how_o far_o a_o wicked_a man_n may_v proceed_v in_o repentance_n have_v thus_o far_o speak_v of_o repentance_n which_o be_v this_o sorrow_n there_o follow_v in_o they_o some_o dislike_n in_o mind_n of_o the_o sin_n commit_v but_o because_o of_o the_o punishment_n distinction_n note_v this_o distinction_n but_o as_o touch_v affection_n to_o the_o good_a which_o ought_v to_o be_v do_v so_o far_o they_o come_v not_o further_o yet_o there_o follow_v in_o the_o will_v a_o decline_a from_o evil_a commit_v but_o because_o of_o the_o punishment_n for_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n their_o will_n be_v not_o bend_v or_o incline_v to_o the_o good_a which_o ought_v to_o be_v do_v after_o this_o little_a change_n of_o the_o will_n there_o follow_v in_o the_o heart_n a_o detestation_n of_o evil_n commit_v but_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o punishment_n for_o all_o this_o while_n the_o heart_n do_v not_o proceed_v to_o love_v justice_n or_o the_o good_a which_o ought_v to_o be_v do_v and_o as_o touch_v the_o outward_a life_n there_o be_v no_o good_a change_n or_o holy_a amendment_n in_o it_o in_o this_o kind_n be_v judas_n this_o liberty_n also_o in_o thing_n good_a &_o evil_a for_o see_v there_o be_v double_a act_n &_o a_o double_a form_n in_o the_o will_n of_o the_o regnerat_a man_n to_o wit_n the_o form_n of_o holiness_n and_o the_o form_n of_o corruption_n &_o because_o he_o have_v the_o first_o fruit_n of_o the_o new_a man_n and_o the_o remnant_n of_o the_o old_a it_o can_v be_v but_o that_o the_o near_a power_n of_o he_o will_v be_v double_a also_o one_o incline_v unto_o good_a the_o other_o decline_v unto_o evil_n so_o that_o this_o receive_a definition_n of_o freewill_n seem_v unto_o i_o to_o agree_v best_a with_o the_o will_n of_o the_o regenerate_a person_n but_o if_o you_o define_v liberty_n to_o consist_v of_o a_o power_n not_o constrain_v tend_v to_o good_a only_o and_o not_o to_o evil_a then_o very_o the_o man_n regenerate_v be_v not_o so_o free_a but_o proceed_v only_o to_o this_o liberty_n which_o shall_v at_o length_n be_v perfect_v in_o another_o life_n final_o concern_v discourse_n and_o reason_n it_o judge_v that_o this_o be_v good_a &_o that_o be_v evil_a this_o be_v to_o be_v follow_v and_o that_o to_o be_v avoid_v this_o judgement_n of_o the_o mind_n be_v of_o the_o end_n or_o of_o some_o mean_n serve_v to_o the_o end_n which_o be_v but_o only_o one_o next_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o mind_n be_v when_o as_o by_o discourse_n and_o argue_v it_o judge_v any_o thing_n to_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n to_o be_v avoid_v or_o to_o be_v follow_v this_o judgement_n be_v where_o diverse_a mean_n fall_v out_o of_o which_o after_o discourse_n have_v in_o the_o mind_n one_o be_v choose_v and_o the_o other_o be_v reject_v now_o the_o object_n which_o by_o the_o mind_n and_o understanding_n be_v in_o some_o sort_n show_v and_o discern_v the_o will_n do_v free_o will_n or_o will_z choose_v or_o refuse_v howbeit_o since_o the_o fall_n of_o man_n such_o be_v the_o confusion_n of_o these_o faculty_n or_o power_n of_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n that_o what_o the_o understanding_n judge_v to_o be_v evil_a and_o disallow_v the_o very_a same_o do_v the_o will_v choose_v and_o prosecute_v man_n the_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n which_o be_v by_o nature_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a that_o which_o the_o mind_n approve_v for_o good_a and_o allow_v that_o very_o same_o the_o will_n reject_v of_o the_o mind_n it_o may_v be_v demand_v whether_o it_o can_v discern_v between_o good_a and_o evil_a approve_v the_o one_o improve_v the_o other_o this_o question_n must_v be_v answer_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o that_o fourfold_a state_n of_o man_n but_o because_o the_o question_n chief_o be_v of_o the_o understanding_n of_o man_n in_o the_o state_n of_o corruption_n whether_o that_o can_v approve_v or_o accept_v the_o good_a and_o reject_v the_o evil_a our_o answer_n shall_v be_v according_o we_o say_v therefore_o that_o if_o you_o understand_v that_o near_a power_n which_o be_v a_o consequent_a of_o that_o corrupt_a essential_a form_n the_o mind_n of_o man_n in_o this_o state_n can_v but_o only_o allow_v that_o which_o be_v evil_a it_o may_v also_o allow_v that_o which_o be_v good_a in_o itself_o but_o
