beseech_v the_o lord_n his_o god_n and_o humble_v himself_o great_o before_o the_o god_n of_o his_o father_n and_o pray_v unto_o he_o and_o he_o be_v entreat_v of_o he_o and_o hear_v his_o supplication_n and_o bring_v he_o again_o to_o jerusalem_n into_o his_o kingdom_n then_o manasseh_n know_v that_o the_o lord_n he_o be_v god_n 2_o chr._n 33._o 12_o 13._o neither_o be_v this_o kind_n of_o humility_n less_o remarkable_a in_o saul_n the_o persecuter_n afterward_o paul_n the_o apostle_n who_o be_v upon_o the_o height_n of_o his_o tyrannical_a intention_n jesus_n who_o he_o persecute_v dismount_v he_o and_o lay_v he_o on_o the_o earth_n until_o his_o cruel_a heart_n be_v so_o abase_v and_o humble_v that_o he_o tremble_v and_o astonish_v say_v lord_n what_o will_v thou_o have_v i_o to_o do_v act_n 9_o to_o the_o 7_o the_o verse_n then_o upon_o who_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n be_v never_o more_o free_o bestow_v then_o by_o who_o the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n be_v never_o more_o excellent_o magnify_v yet_o i_o be_o the_o least_o of_o the_o apostle_n say_v he_o that_o be_o not_o meet_v to_o be_v call_v a_o apostle_n because_o i_o persecute_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n i_o be_o what_o i_o be_o 1_o cor._n 15._o 9_o 10._o this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o a_o sound_a humility_n and_o it_o well_o deserve_v our_o serious_a consideration_n and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o propound_v and_o answer_v these_o four_o question_n first_o what_o be_v this_o sound_a humility_n second_o by_o who_o be_v it_o wrought_v three_o how_o or_o after_o what_o manner_n be_v it_o wrought_v and_o fourthly_a what_o do_v it_o work_v to_o the_o first_o question_n it_o be_v answer_v that_o humility_n be_v that_o work_n of_o regeneration_n through_o which_o our_o connscience_n be_v convict_v and_o afflict_v by_o the_o sense_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o the_o consideration_n of_o our_o own_o want_n and_o unworthiness_n we_o do_v unfeigned_o confess_v the_o same_o unto_o god_n devout_o implore_v his_o pardon_n for_o sin_n together_o with_o a_o supply_n of_o spiritual_a grace_n that_o this_o humility_n be_v a_o work_n of_o regeneration_n and_o thus_o qualify_v i_o conceive_v will_v not_o be_v deny_v nor_o contradict_v for_o so_o soon_o as_o that_o eternal_a goodness_n of_o god_n appear_v unto_o his_o otherwise_o lose_a creature_n in_o beget_v he_o of_o his_o own_o will_n with_o the_o word_n of_o truth_n as_o ja._n 1._o 18._o immediate_o by_o the_o light_n of_o the_o same_o word_n he_o begin_v to_o survey_v himself_o and_o to_o weigh_v all_o his_o thought_n word_n action_n and_o ability_n according_a to_o this_o balance_n of_o the_o sanctuary_n and_o find_v they_o utter_o void_a of_o all_o grace_n and_o goodness_n and_o stuff_v with_o nothing_o but_o sin_n and_o corruption_n
