outward_a affliction_n if_o he_o have_v overcome_v the_o great_a the_o lesser_a shall_v not_o withstand_v he_o god_n do_v give_v freedom_n from_o those_o that_o be_v simple_o evil_a as_o sin_n be_v simple_o evil_a and_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o ill_a then_o it_o be_v easy_a to_o succour_v against_o those_o which_o be_v not_o in_o themselves_o and_o simple_o evil_a but_o often_o be_v turn_v follow_v if_o we_o do_v not_o spend_v it_o in_o these_o work_n these_o ill_a effect_n we_o shall_v see_v in_o exod._n 31._o 12._o where_o god_n command_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v abstain_v from_o all_o work_n and_o keep_v it_o a_o holy_a for_o if_o they_o do_v work_v even_o in_o make_v garment_n and_o thing_n for_o the_o temple_n which_o seem_v to_o pertain_v to_o god_n much_o more_o in_o thing_n of_o their_o own_o these_o two_o evil_n will_v follow_v first_o they_o shall_v die_v the_o death_n their_o life_n shall_v be_v take_v away_o they_o must_v die_v a_o natural_a death_n and_o then_o second_o they_o must_v be_v cut_v off_o from_o their_o people_n i_o be_v subject_n to_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n and_o be_v cast_v off_o from_o the_o people_n of_o god_n by_o solemn_a excommunication_n these_o be_v the_o punishment_n of_o pollute_v the_o sabbath_n no_o small_a punishment_n and_o these_o god_n do_v execute_v daily_o even_o among_o we_o for_o though_o the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n take_v not_o hold_v on_o such_o person_n to_o put_v they_o to_o death_n yet_o god_n give_v they_o over_o to_o commit_v some_o sin_n which_o man_n law_n punish_v with_o death_n and_o the_o first_o cause_n of_o all_o and_o that_o at_o which_o god_n strike_v and_o which_o their_o own_o soul_n feel_v most_o heavy_a as_o appear_v by_o the_o daily_a complaint_n when_o they_o be_v bring_v to_o execution_n be_v that_o they_o never_o regard_v the_o sabbath_n have_v no_o care_n to_o hear_v god_n word_n &_o to_o spend_v the_o day_n in_o duty_n of_o religion_n &_o in_o prayer_n but_o follow_v after_o vanity_n and_o their_o own_o lust_n and_o therefore_o god_n meet_v with_o they_o and_o though_o the_o minister_n can_v by_o law_n excommunicate_v they_o and_o cast_v they_o out_o of_o the_o congregation_n yet_o god_n excommunicate_v they_o that_o in_o the_o
any_o other_o such_o like_a deal_n if_o ever_o he_o will_v have_v god_n hear_v his_o prayer_n and_o receive_v his_o sacrifice_n before_o his_o offering_n he_o must_v make_v recompense_n the_o interest_n and_o the_o five_o part_n etc._n etc._n i_o but_o he_o be_v go_v i_o know_v he_o not_o or_o can_v tell_v where_o to_o have_v he_o i_o but_o do_v you_o know_v none_o of_o his_o kindred_n have_v he_o no_o son_n or_o nephew_n or_o brother_n be_v there_o none_o near_o unto_o he_o that_o you_o know_v not_o one_o yet_o it_o must_v be_v restore_v it_o be_v none_o of_o you_o you_o must_v not_o keep_v it_o you_o of_o necessity_n must_v part_v with_o it_o if_o you_o will_v have_v the_o sin_n pardon_v therefore_o you_o must_v give_v it_o to_o the_o lord_n the_o church_n must_v have_v it_o numb_a 5._o 8._o so_o that_o this_o be_v the_o law_n of_o restitution_n he_o that_o have_v get_v any_o thing_n unlawful_o must_v not_o only_o say_v indeed_o i_o have_v do_v amiss_o i_o cry_v god_n mercy_n for_o that_o that_o be_v past_a and_o i_o will_v do_v so_o no_o more_o but_o for_o this_o i_o hope_v god_n will_v pardon_v i_o i_o purpose_v now_o to_o leave_v of_o do_v wrong_a to_o any_o no_o this_o be_v not_o enough_o a_o man_n must_v reconcile_v himself_o to_o god_n before_o he_o can_v reconcile_v his_o conscience_n to_o himself_o god_n will_v not_o be_v answer_v with_o such_o a_o weak_a amendment_n there_o can_v be_v pardon_n or_o perseverance_n unless_o there_o be_v true_a repentance_n and_o true_a repentance_n never_o go_v before_o but_o soon_o after_o you_o shall_v see_v restitution_n follow_v therefore_o let_v a_o man_n deal_v more_o sound_o in_o such_o case_n that_o pertain_v to_o the_o peace_n of_o his_o conscience_n this_o hollow_a heartedness_n and_o hypocrisy_n in_o such_o matter_n will_v bring_v no_o peace_n therefore_o let_v not_o a_o man_n hearken_v to_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o own_o flesh_n for_o his_o hurt_n and_o restore_v that_o which_o he_o have_v defraud_v any_o man_n of_o by_o ill_a mean_n if_o not_o let_v he_o know_v for_o a_o surety_n who_o ever_o he_o be_v that_o there_o be_v no_o thrive_a by_o such_o deal_n sin_n be_v a_o poison_n infect_v both_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n and_o estate_n and_o unless_o it_o be_v purge_v out_o in_o time_n will_v bring_v all_o to_o ruin_v but_o yet_o some_o objection_n seem_v to_o arise_v first_o the_o thing_n be_v of_o some_o price_n and_o the_o person_n be_v wicked_a and_o will_v be_v willing_a to_o take_v the_o advantage_n and_o follow_v the_o occasion_n to_o put_v i_o to_o death_n therefore_o here_o danger_n seem_v to_o stop_v one_o mouth_n and_o it_o be_v better_a to_o live_v in_o safety_n then_o to_o make_v restitution_n with_o peril_n of_o his_o life_n but_o though_o the_o case_n shall_v fall_v out_o thus_o yet_o the_o law_n of_o restitution_n admit_v no_o such_o exception_n one_o must_v restore_v yet_o wisdom_n must_v be_v use_v in_o this_o case_n that_o both_o the_o party_n offend_v may_v be_v satiffy_v and_o the_o party_n which_o have_v offend_v may_v be_v in_o safety_n therefore_o some_o other_o three_o person_n of_o wisdom_n and_o gravity_n a_o man_n of_o good_a account_n for_o religion_n and_o honesty_n must_v be_v choose_v to_o who_o the_o secret_a may_v be_v without_o peril_n reveal_v and_o by_o who_o mean_n the_o wrong_n do_v may_v be_v full_o answer_v and_o he_o must_v restore_v it_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o other_o conceal_v his_o name_n and_o particular_a fault_n as_o thus_o he_o may_v speak_v there_o be_v a_o man_n that_o in_o time_n of_o his_o ignorance_n have_v wrong_v and_o endamage_v you_o and_o now_o that_o god_n have_v touch_v his_o heart_n with_o true_a repentance_n he_o be_v willing_a to_o satisfy_v you_o to_o the_o full_a and_o therefore_o have_v by_o i_o send_v you_o so_o much_o as_o will_v full_o recommpence_v your_o loss_n yet_o he_o desire_v to_o conceal_v his_o name_n because_o of_o peril_n that_o may_v ensue_v by_o some_o such_o wise_a and_o godly_a course_n amends_n may_v be_v full_o make_v to_o the_o party_n that_o sustain_v the_o wrong_n and_o he_o that_o do_v the_o wrong_n be_v nothing_o at_o all_o endanger_v for_o by_o god_n blessing_n no_o man_n be_v so_o malicious_a but_o by_o the_o wisdom_n and_o godly_a counsel_n of_o the_o man_n that_o be_v employ_v in_o this_o thing_n and_o the_o full_a satisfaction_n and_o good_a deal_n of_o the_o man_n that_o do_v wrong_v he_o will_v have_v hold_v himself_o content_v without_o any_o further_a prosecute_n of_o revengment_n but_o there_o come_v yet_o a_o further_a doubt_n i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o restore_v i_o have_v not_o where_o withal_o then_o where_o nothing_o be_v to_o be_v have_v it_o be_v a_o common_a proverb_n the_o prince_n must_v loose_v his_o right_n but_o yet_o so_o that_o a_o man_n must_v plain_o and_o full_o confess_v his_o fault_n if_o there_o be_v not_o ability_n for_o restitution_n yet_o a_o man_n must_v not_o neglect_v confession_n and_o this_o further_a a_o man_n must_v covenant_n with_o himself_o that_o if_o ever_o it_o please_v god_n to_o give_v he_o ability_n he_o will_v be_v answerable_a to_o the_o full_a to_o all_o such_o wrong_n and_o then_o as_o we_o be_v in_o affection_n so_o god_n will_v account_v we_o indeed_o if_o one_o can_v say_v in_o truth_n of_o heart_n o_o lord_n i_o confess_v my_o fault_n to_o thou_o and_o have_v confess_v it_o also_o to_o the_o person_n who_o i_o have_v offend_v and_o though_o i_o be_v not_o able_a to_o recompense_v he_o yet_o i_o resolve_v with_o myself_o and_o make_v a_o covenant_n with_o my_o own_o conscience_n that_o if_o ever_o i_o have_v it_o i_o will_v pay_v he_o and_o if_o i_o have_v it_o now_o i_o will_v differ_v no_o long_o he_o shall_v have_v it_o now_o in_o mean_a time_n i_o will_v not_o cease_v to_o supply_v that_o by_o my_o prayer_n which_o by_o reason_n of_o poverty_n be_v want_v in_o my_o payment_n that_o my_o humble_a suit_n to_o god_n for_o he_o may_v as_o much_o profit_n he_o as_o my_o sin_n against_o god_n and_o against_o he_o have_v endamage_v he_o thus_o if_o a_o man_n do_v god_n will_v accept_v he_o and_o esteem_v of_o this_o as_o a_o sufficient_a recompense_n and_o will_v himself_o reward_v the_o party_n and_o make_v up_o his_o loss_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o eight_o commandment_n thou_o shall_v not_o steal_v now_o follow_v the_o nine_o commandment_n thou_o shall_v not_o bear_v false_a witness_n against_o thy_o neighbour_n this_o commandment_n be_v break_v either_o inward_o by_o caulesse_a suspicion_n and_o surmise_n outward_o or_o without_o speech_n in_o gesture_n silence_n with_o speech_n by_o speak_v or_o receive_v by_o speak_v true_o but_o to_o a_o ill_a purpose_n without_o discretion_n or_o good_a affection_n one_o self_n by_o boast_v execusing_a accuse_v false_o an_o other_o either_o public_a when_o a_o judge_n a_o witness_n or_o jurer_n do_v it_o in_o a_o public_a cause_n and_o assembly_n or_o a_o lawyer_n defend_v a_o ill_a cause_n private_a by_o unjust_a accuse_v defend_v false_o concern_v by_o receive_v concern_v a_o other_o one_o self_n in_o receive_v flattery_n of_o other_o false_a accusation_n of_o other_o here_o shall_v have_v follow_v the_o sum_n of_o this_o commandment_n and_o the_o handle_n of_o inward_a suspicion_n and_o rash_a judge_v and_o the_o two_o cause_n thereof_o uz._n foolishness_n &_o uncharitableness_n which_o note_v the_o party_n that_o take_v the_o former_a copy_n as_o then_o come_v to_o short_a to_o set_v down_o and_o since_o by_o no_o mean_n can_v come_v by_o they_o the_o three_o follow_v the_o three_o cause_n of_o this_o unjust_a suspicion_n &_o misdeem_n be_v a_o evil_a conscience_n for_o when_o one_o be_v himself_o infect_v with_o any_o sin_n and_o lie_v in_o it_o without_o repentance_n he_o be_v ready_a to_o measure_v all_o man_n by_o himself_o and_o think_v no_o man_n can_v go_v upright_o now_o himself_o halt_v and_o this_o be_v exceed_o plain_a in_o saul_n he_o be_v a_o wicked_a murderer_n and_o purpose_v full_o if_o by_o any_o mean_n he_o may_v effect_v his_o purpose_n to_o kill_v david_n and_o therefore_o we_o see_v how_o he_o go_v about_o crafty_o to_o bring_v he_o in_o danger_n under_o a_o show_n of_o friendship_n and_o forsooth_o do_v bear_v such_o a_o good_a mind_n to_o david_n that_o worthy_a man_n and_o faithful_a captain_n that_o have_v venture_v his_o life_n for_o god_n cause_n and_o in_o the_o defence_n of_o his_o people_n as_o that_o he_o will_v free_o and_o willing_o admit_v he_o to_o so_o near_o a_o place_n as_o to_o be_v the_o king_n son_n in_o law_n and_o therefore_o if_o david_n be_v as_o willing_a to_o accept_v of_o his_o offer_n in_o kindness_n
