yet_o this_o society_n how_o agreeable_a soever_o to_o man_n nature_n do_v not_o full_o content_v it_o neither_o do_v man_n find_v in_o man_n that_o which_o may_v satisfy_v his_o desire_n for_o man_n preach_v but_o unsufficiency_n of_o hear_v whereas_o if_o we_o have_v every_o of_o we_o as_o great_a care_n to_o be_v good_a hearer_n as_o to_o meet_v with_o good_a preacher_n it_o will_v be_v soon_o perfection_n can_v be_v add_v be_v in_o god_n only_o who_o have_v it_o everlasting_o in_o himself_o of_o himself_o for_o himself_o and_o be_v not_o any_o thing_n distinct_a from_o he_o but_o his_o nature_n and_o essence_n there_o be_v a_o content_a qualify_v according_a to_o the_o state_n and_o degree_n of_o the_o creature_n as_o in_o angel_n and_o man_n who_o have_v reason_n to_o know_v and_o be_v true_a or_o false_a the_o false_a be_v but_o a_o picture_n or_o counterseit_n of_o content_a without_o the_o thing_n without_o life_n proceed_v from_o the_o enjoy_n of_o good_a which_o seem_v so_o but_o be_v not_o either_o because_o it_o be_v abuse_v or_o be_v in_o his_o own_o nature_n evil_a and_o they_o which_o have_v this_o content_a be_v always_o miserable_a because_o of_o false_a opinion_n which_o blind_a reason_n and_o unruly_a affection_n suggest_v unto_o they_o and_o therewith_o so_o pervert_v their_o will_n that_o they_o be_v not_o long_o of_o one_o judgement_n or_o resolution_n but_o like_o a_o trouble_a and_o run_a stream_n in_o which_o may_v be_v see_v no_o constant_a image_n of_o content_a and_o this_o notwithstanding_o be_v the_o only_a content_a which_o most_o part_n of_o man_n do_v find_v and_o therefore_o at_o last_o when_o they_o think_v to_o be_v most_o at_o ease_n they_o grow_v weary_a of_o themselves_o and_o all_o thing_n else_o show_v well_o by_o their_o labour_n and_o pain_n take_v that_o they_o do_v much_o desire_n the_o true_a content_a but_o take_v not_o a_o right_a course_n for_o it_o the_o true_a content_a therefore_o be_v a_o calmness_n or_o quietness_n of_o the_o soul_n rest_v and_o settle_v itself_o on_o true_a good_a and_o be_v either_o begin_v or_o increase_a as_o in_o good_a man_n while_o they_o live_v or_o consummate_v and_o full_a as_o when_o they_o go_v hence_o to_o that_o other_o life_n for_o man_n which_o receive_v content_a receive_v it_o not_o all_o at_o one_o time_n but_o by_o certain_a degree_n of_o growth_n and_o as_o be_v the_o spring_n of_o virtue_n so_o of_o content_a neither_o have_v they_o it_o so_o that_o this_o clearness_n and_o calmness_n be_v always_o in_o they_o alike_o for_o as_o long_o as_o they_o live_v they_o shall_v find_v alteration_n but_o in_o the_o other_o life_n nothing_o shall_v trouble_v their_o content_n as_o evil_a and_o offence_n shall_v be_v take_v away_o for_o they_o shall_v receive_v the_o full_a measure_n of_o every_o part_n of_o their_o content_n and_o that_o without_o mixture_n of_o any_o object_n which_o may_v procure_v discontent_n here_o there_o be_v sin_n remain_v and_o misery_n which_o follow_v the_o condition_n of_o sinner_n but_o there_o they_o that_o come_v shall_v leave_v sin_n and_o misery_n behind_o they_o here_o there_o be_v but_o few_o have_v they_o or_o to_o be_v without_o they_o when_o they_o have_v they_o they_o be_v content_a with_o they_o as_o they_o have_v they_o because_o of_o the_o good_a use_n which_o be_v to_o be_v make_v of_o they_o and_o when_o they_o have_v they_o not_o they_o be_v content_v to_o have_v use_v they_o well_o and_o to_o be_v no_o more_o busy_v with_o they_o as_o set_v their_o mind_n on_o the_o better_a thing_n and_o without_o this_o equability_n of_o mind_n there_o be_v no_o content_a to_o be_v have_v in_o outward_a thing_n the_o inward_a content_n be_v from_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o god_n the_o feel_n of_o his_o favour_n and_o the_o testimony_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n that_o we_o hearty_o desire_v in_o all_o our_o life_n to_o obey_v he_o and_o this_o work_v a_o wonderful_a content_n when_o as_o the_o heart_n love_fw-mi god_n and_o desire_v he_o do_v feel_v itself_o belove_v again_o of_o god_n yea_o love_v first_o and_o before_o he_o himself_o do_v know_v how_o to_o love_v god_n and_o whence_o all_o his_o love_n and_o duty_n do_v grow_v but_o here_o it_o may_v perhaps_o be_v say_v that_o they_o which_o serve_v god_n have_v the_o least_o content_a of_o all_o man_n for_o the_o world_n be_v against_o they_o and_o they_o against_o the_o world_n and_o as_o for_o these_o thing_n wherein_o do_v consist_v their_o chief_a content_n if_o we_o shall_v believe_v they_o they_o complain_v they_o want_v much_o and_o have_v very_o little_a as_o the_o prophet_n david_n where_o he_o say_v as_o the_o hart_n pant_v for_o the_o river_n of_o water_n so_o pant_v my_o soul_n after_o thou_o o_o god_n what_o content_n may_v that_o soul_n have_v which_o be_v so_o empty_v with_o need_n and_o so_o stretch_v out_o in_o desire_n and_o live_v in_o expectation_n of_o the_o good_a malice_n and_o pride_n the_o work_n of_o sin_n be_v a_o imitation_n of_o the_o devil_n but_o there_o be_v two_o which_o practise_v by_o man_n do_v make_v they_o in_o a_o short_a time_n as_o cunning_a who_o he_o esteem_v but_o as_o base_a slave_n for_o that_o as_o he_o say_v they_o consent_v to_o live_v in_o such_o a_o bondage_n whereas_o live_v as_o he_o do_v under_o no_o command_n they_o may_v at_o least_o be_v god_n themselves_o in_o conceit_n and_o therefore_o against_o all_o such_o for_o the_o malice_n he_o bear_v to_o god_n and_o obedience_n to_o he_o he_o bend_v all_o his_o force_n and_o sleight_n if_o he_o can_v win_v they_o he_o will_v weary_v they_o and_o he_o boast_v that_o he_o have_v more_o to_o follow_v his_o command_n than_o god_n have_v and_o there_o be_v nothing_o wisdom_n power_n and_o mercy_n do_v overreach_v the_o depth_n of_o his_o malice_n use_v he_o only_o to_o discover_v his_o own_o naughtiness_n but_o turn_v the_o business_n to_o his_o own_o glory_n and_o the_o good_a of_o his_o servant_n and_o leave_v he_o at_o last_o unto_o his_o shame_n as_o in_o the_o fall_n of_o adam_n affliction_n of_o job_n and_o the_o passion_n of_o our_o saviour_n this_o
