answer_v the_o bond_n of_o humanity_n in_o such_o act_n nay_o how_o then_o can_v they_o answer_v the_o power_n of_o sanctity_n in_o they_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o edification_n of_o all_o soul_n to_o three_o question_n more_o i_o be_o draw_v forth_o in_o the_o light_n to_o answer_v quest_n 1_o what_o be_v the_o first_o powerful_a operation_n of_o the_o light_n in_o the_o soul_n after_o convincement_n of_o sin_n answ_n judgement_n condemnation_n and_o death_n of_o the_o mind_n of_o transgression_n which_o must_v of_o necessity_n be_v for_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o king_n of_o glory_n unto_o who_o no_o life_n in_o sin_n and_o corruption_n can_v unite_v for_o the_o soul_n go_v into_o it_o go_v out_o from_o he_o into_o the_o enmity_n against_o he_o and_o his_o law_n of_o righteousness_n and_o no_o part_n of_o that_o can_v ever_o enter_v into_o he_o because_o it_o be_v never_o of_o he_o and_o because_o he_o have_v infuse_v a_o righteous_a law_n into_o the_o inward_a part_n of_o necessity_n therefore_o there_o must_v be_v a_o power_n of_o judgement_n to_o execute_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n in_o the_o place_n that_o it_o be_v put_v upon_o that_o which_o break_v it_o which_o power_n in_o righteousness_n must_v absolute_o bring_v condemnation_n upon_o that_o mind_n which_o be_v the_o transgressor_n in_o man_n and_o the_o condemnation_n must_v as_o sure_o bring_v death_n by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o executor_n that_o no_o part_n of_o that_o mind_n may_v evermore_o live_v but_o the_o mind_n in_o which_o no_o transgression_n be_v which_o be_v before_o transgression_n be_v which_o must_v be_v perfect_o wrought_v before_o man_n can_v enter_v again_o into_o the_o first_o similitude_n to_o unite_v with_o the_o king_n of_o glory_n so_o here_o all_o may_v see_v the_o judgement_n true_o set_v up_o and_o execute_v in_o the_o inward_a part_n bring_v death_n upon_o the_o transgressor_n produce_v the_o benefit_n of_o a_o most_o bless_a fruit_n viz._n of_o life_n peace_n and_o joy_n and_o open_v the_o door_n of_o the_o fountain_n of_o mercy_n give_v the_o perfect_a knowledge_n thereof_o which_o then_o rejoice_v over_o judgement_n for_o which_o cause_n of_o mercy_n the_o eternal_a wisdom_n first_o institute_v the_o law_n and_o power_n of_o judgement_n to_o come_v fulfil_a righteousness_n in_o the_o and_o there_o enter_v into_o that_o internal_a power_n which_o stand_v in_o the_o cross_n to_o the_o other_o nature_n which_o will_v daily_o slay_v every_o carnal_a affection_n in_o the_o first_o suggestion_n and_o appearance_n and_o break_v the_o cockatrice_n egg_n before_o the_o serpent_n be_v hatch_v and_o thus_o all_o will_v come_v to_o see_v that_o the_o inward_a and_o visible_a cross_n to_o the_o inward_a mind_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o flesh_n keep_v the_o soul_n clean_o out_o of_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o flesh_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o eternal_a spirit_n again_o watch_v to_o fear_v in_o every_o joy_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o every_o glorious_a and_o heavenly_a gift_n lest_o the_o joy_n shall_v slip_v out_o of_o the_o true_a measure_n and_o a_o sense_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o gift_n exalt_v the_o heart_n above_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o light_n through_o which_o it_o come_v and_o in_o which_o the_o unity_n with_o the_o king_n of_o glory_n stand_v and_o here_o all_o which_o come_v to_o see_v that_o fear_n keep_v every_o joy_n and_o enjoyment_n of_o heavenly_a gift_n perfect_a to_o the_o measure_n wherein_o all_o perfection_n to_o the_o dust_n from_o whence_o it_o come_v and_o the_o soul_n be_v from_o thenceforth_o clothe_v and_o array_v with_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o life_n of_o the_o king_n of_o glory_n even_o for_o ever_o and_o evermore_o quest_n whether_o man_n after_o be_v restore_v unto_o the_o brightness_n of_o the_o first_o similitude_n and_o enter_v into_o unity_n with_o the_o incorruptible_a glory_n supreme_a power_n over_o all_o the_o create_a thing_n and_o according_o fear_v love_a obey_v and_o live_v in_o which_o state_n i_o have_v show_v man_n go_v out_o of_o and_o degenerate_v from_o and_o drive_v forth_o and_o a_o virgin_n state_n may_v be_v attain_v unto_o but_o unless_o the_o oil_n of_o wisdom_n in_o watchfulness_n diligence_n and_o fear_v be_v
retain_v in_o the_o lamp_n always_o burn_v and_o give_v light_n to_o the_o whole_a soul_n it_o may_v turn_v into_o the_o darkness_n of_o folly_n and_o filthiness_n and_o again_o may_v become_v adulterate_a and_o degenerate_a from_o the_o life_n of_o incorruption_n and_o immortal_a unchangeable_a glory_n which_o be_v the_o curse_a state_n wisdom_n therefore_o smite_v the_o stroke_n of_o death_n upon_o the_o head_n of_o presumption_n and_o keep_v the_o watch_n upon_o the_o watch-tower_n of_o the_o light_n which_o discover_v the_o approach_n of_o the_o enemy_n and_o retain_v the_o fear_n as_o a_o strength_n for_o courage_n and_o clothes_n the_o soul_n with_o the_o humbleness_n and_o contritedness_n of_o heart_n for_o with_o such_o the_o immortal_a power_n dwell_v in_o who_o immutable_a strength_n the_o salvation_n and_o preservation_n be_v witness_v so_o in_o he_o the_o redeem_a have_v the_o continual_a enjoyment_n of_o a_o surpass_a sweet_a and_o consolate_v repose_n and_o rest_n first_o in_o the_o knowledge_n that_o the_o gracious_a power_n that_o have_v unite_v they_o unto_o himself_o in_o the_o life_n of_o incorruption_n and_o innocency_n can_v never_o vary_v change_n nor_o altar_n from_o his_o grace_n love_n and_o faithfulness_n and_o next_o though_o a_o change_n may_v be_v which_o can_v be_v by_o the_o unchangeable_a king_n of_o glory_n unless_o it_o be_v first_o by_o the_o degeneration_n of_o man_n weak_a and_o mutable_a mind_n from_o his_o power_n of_o holiness_n yet_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o fear_n and_o watchfulness_n out_o of_o the_o immutable_a preserver_n of_o the_o low_a and_o humble_a that_o in_o the_o live_n and_o sensible_a persuasion_n it_o come_v to_o utter_v through_o its_o assurance_n of_o the_o immediate_a unity_n that_o neither_o affliction_n trial_n tribulation_n temptation_n reproach_n buffet_n wound_n torture_n prison_n life_n nor_o death_n principality_n power_n height_n depth_n thing_n present_a nor_o thing_n to_o come_v shall_v be_v ever_o able_a to_o separate_v the_o soul_n from_o its_o life_n and_o unity_n in_o and_o with_o the_o immutable_a preserver_n and_o king_n of_o glory_n in_o the_o joy_n power_n or_o principle_n of_o holiness_n because_o if_o all_o soul_n shall_v turn_v from_o it_o as_o it_o be_v a_o manifest_a light_n in_o every_o conscience_n yet_o the_o light_n and_o truth_n change_v not_o but_o be_v still_o the_o same_o in_o itself_o in_o nature_n power_n virtue_n and_o glory_n which_o no_o man_n can_v just_o deny_v though_o veil_v cloud_a and_o in_o great_a measure_n hide_v from_o the_o mutable_a soul_n that_o be_v turn_v from_o it_o nor_o can_v reproach_n or_o infamy_n just_o stand_v upon_o they_o that_o abide_v in_o the_o unity_n with_o the_o immutable_a glory_n that_o when_o all_o man_n in_o all_o nation_n country_n and_o land_n shall_v attain_v to_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o the_o life_n power_n wisdom_n and_o glory_n of_o their_o maker_n and_o creator_n in_o themselves_o then_o they_o shall_v have_v no_o need_n of_o any_o other_o instruction_n touch_v the_o knowledge_n of_o their_o maker_n without_o they_o and_o so_o know_v their_o creator_n appear_v in_o themselves_o will_v also_o know_v from_o he_o who_o so_o appear_v the_o true_a and_o live_a way_n of_o his_o true_a live_v and_o pure_a worship_n which_o he_o teach_v all_o in_o the_o unity_n and_o truth_n of_o his_o own_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n the_o which_o must_v certain_o put_v a_o end_n unto_o all_o that_o which_o be_v diverse_a &_o from_o the_o way_n of_o his_o own_o life_n and_o pure_a nature_n but_o because_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v contrary_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o glorious_a sun_n of_o the_o soul_n i_o hold_v it_o necessary_a to_o show_v what_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o be_v that_o as_o they_o be_v in_o contrariety_n the_o worst_a may_v be_v forsake_v and_o the_o best_a cleaved_a and_o adhere_v unto_o and_o for_o ever_o love_v and_o live_v in_o in_o the_o power_n wisdom_n and_o glory_n thereof_o 1._o the_o nature_n of_o the_o glorious_a sun_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v before_o the_o outward_a sun_n be_v be_v pure_a holy_a clean_a undefiled_a and_o full_a of_o all_o light_n and_o virtue_n even_o of_o all_o which_o stand_v in_o a_o eternal_a life_n as_o also_o in_o it_o be_v the_o virtue_n of_o reduce_v all_o thing_n unto_o nothing_o again_o as_o by_o it_o all_o thing_n of_o nothing_o be_v in_o the_o beginning_n make_v and_o create_v 2._o but_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v evil_a corrupt_a the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o be_v to_o be_v right_o understand_v and_o know_v to_o it_o i_o be_o free_a to_o answer_v thus_o show_v introductional_o introd_a that_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n be_v the_o sensible_a live_a part_n that_o have_v its_o be_v in_o the_o body_n of_o flesh_n or_o humane_a tabernacle_n whilst_o the_o perceivance_n of_o breath_n be_v leave_v therein_o whereby_o man_n have_v the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o joy_n and_o pain_n pleasure_n and_o sorrow_n etc._n etc._n to_o which_o inward_a part_n in_o all_o mankind_n i_o speak_v of_o the_o sun_n of_o the_o soul_n testify_v that_o the_o light_n thereof_o in_o every_o soul_n be_v of_o such_o a_o purity_n and_o cleanness_n shine_v in_o the_o inward_a part_n of_o the_o intelect_a or_o secret_a understanding_n of_o man_n that_o it_o have_v no_o unity_n nor_o fellowship_n with_o his_o uncleanness_n and_o beastliness_n show_v he_o when_o no_o flesh_n do_v speak_v unto_o he_o that_o he_o have_v a_o rational_a soul_n put_v into_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v like_a unto_o the_o beast_n of_o the_o field_n which_o have_v not_o receive_v that_o faculty_n in_o his_o loathsome_a act_n of_o defilement_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o in_o other_o case_n be_v worse_o than_o the_o beast_n of_o the_o field_n which_o only_o eat_v and_o drink_v to_o their_o satisfaction_n and_o have_v so_o do_v when_o rest_n be_v needful_a do_v lie_v down_o in_o quietness_n without_o invention_n of_o mischief_n and_o which_o in_o their_o mute_a state_n have_v not_o a_o mind_n of_o the_o vent_n of_o execration_n curse_n oath_n blasphemy_n lie_v cheat_a steal_v murder_v or_o the_o like_a thing_n and_o act_n of_o wickedness_n i_o say_v the_o light_n show_v that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v worse_o than_o the_o beast_n of_o the_o field_n in_o such_o word_n and_o work_n or_o exercise_n of_o drunkenness_n and_o gluttony_n which_o light_n in_o all_o mankind_n never_o consent_v to_o any_o act_n of_o filthiness_n beastliness_n or_o wickedness_n but_o in_o all_o do_v stand_v near_o the_o soul_n tell_v the_o soul_n the_o evil_a of_o such_o thing_n so_o these_o two_o be_v join_v together_o to_o wit_n the_o light_n of_o the_o glorious_a sun_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o soul_n itself_o to_o the_o light_n in_o true_a knowledge_n of_o any_o thing_n i_o call_v conscience_n because_o conscience_n proper_o and_o right_o import_v a_o joint_a knowledge_n testimony_n and_o witness_n by_o two_o know_a property_n in_o mankind_n of_o the_o good_a or_o evil_a of_o all_o word_n and_o work_n whatsoever_o be_v speak_v do_v or_o wrought_v by_o they_o see_v then_o every_o man_n have_v this_o principle_n of_o knowledge_n in_o himself_o give_v by_o the_o eternal_a sun_n of_o the_o soul_n as_o a_o measure_n of_o light_n into_o their_o immortal_a soul_n hereby_o they_o come_v to_o know_v the_o nature_n thereof_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n thereof_o and_o in_o it_o discern_v the_o vast_a multitude_n of_o mankind_n which_o be_v not_o unite_v to_o the_o light_n to_o be_v in_o the_o beastliness_n and_o evil_n which_o the_o light_n of_o the_o sun_n of_o the_o soul_n do_v reprove_v judge_n and_o condemn_v hereby_o they_o may_v know_v in_o themselves_o that_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n be_v contrary_a to_o it_o be_v very_o sinful_a and_o abominable_a in_o wickedness_n and_o beastliness_n so_o touch_v and_o nature_n they_o be_v in_o order_n therefore_o to_o the_o true_a and_o pure_a knowledge_n of_o the_o eternal_a sun_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v absolute_o necessary_a for_o all_o people_n to_o understand_v that_o nothing_o corruptible_a can_v see_v that_o glory_n and_o brightness_n which_o be_v incorruptible_a to_o discern_v aright_o what_o it_o be_v that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v always_o seek_v and_o never_o come_v to_o find_v and_o ever_o learning_n but_o never_o able_a to_o come_v to_o the_o true_a knowledge_n seek_v in_o the_o backward_a way_n and_o learning_n in_o a_o book_n of_o lie_n and_o next_o to_o know_v that_o man_n station_n be_v in_o sin_n and_o corruption_n in_o absolute_a contrariety_n to_o the_o pure_a nature_n of_o incorruption_n and_o consequent_o have_v no_o unity_n with_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o incorruptible_a one_o nor_o have_v the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o he_o and_o therefore_o in_o worship_v he_o worship_v he_o know_v not_o what_o which_o if_o contrariwise_o all_o be_v unite_v in_o the_o life_n to_o the_o life_n and_o glory_n of_o the_o eternal_a sun_n and_o power_n then_o will_v they_o all_o know_v that_o incorruptible_a one_o and_z according_o worship_n in_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o he_o who_o be_v the_o eternal_a brightness_n glory_n and_o power_n over_o all_o thing_n see_v then_o that_o no_o man_n know_v aright_o but_o peace_n pure_a life_n and_o nature_n to_o which_o purpose_n and_o glorious_a matter_n tend_v to_o the_o everlasting_a blessing_n of_o all_o nation_n and_o peoples_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o by_o and_o in_o which_o he_o may_v come_v to_o be_v redeem_v out_o of_o that_o sad_a and_o miserable_a state_n and_o condition_n of_o his_o blindness_n darkness_n and_o ignorance_n of_o soul_n and_o mind_n in_o which_o he_o be_v bind_v and_o chain_v by_o the_o power_n of_o evil_a and_o corruption_n which_o i_o call_v the_o power_n of_o darkness_n inasmuch_o as_o that_o spirit_n be_v the_o original_n and_o principal_a cause_n yet_o he_o give_v more_o way_n unto_o the_o power_n of_o darkness_n than_o yield_v unto_o the_o other_o power_n which_o be_v light_n have_v lose_v the_o true_a way_n and_o err_v from_o the_o true_a guide_n and_o conductor_n which_o be_v able_a to_o lead_v he_o into_o a_o unity_n with_o his_o glorious_a creator_n who_o be_v the_o power_n of_o brightness_n death_n in_o the_o heavy_a chain_n of_o captivity_n and_o alas_o poor_a miserable_a blind_a man_n though_o this_o be_v his_o lose_a condition_n yet_o he_o know_v not_o nay_o nor_o perceive_v it_o not_o and_o so_o lay_v not_o his_o misery_n to_o heart_n which_o be_v his_o double_a fetter_n of_o iron_n so_o though_o he_o have_v a_o feign_a hope_n and_o imagine_a faith_n in_o himself_o yet_o be_v and_o though_o thus_o have_v be_v the_o state_n of_o man_n almost_o from_o the_o creation_n in_o the_o beginning_n nevertheless_o it_o have_v please_v the_o eternal_a wisdom_n now_o in_o these_o latter_a day_n as_o it_o be_v prophesy_v of_o to_o the_o jew_n to_o open_v a_o path_n wherein_o man_n may_v return_v again_o unto_o himself_o in_o that_o pure_a and_o perfect_a shape_n and_o
