expose_v christian_n to_o injury_n and_o ruin_n answ_n not_o so_o we_o may_v both_o require_v calvin_n d●bitoreshic_n vocantur_fw-la non_fw-la pecuniae_fw-la vel_fw-la officii_fw-la alicujus_fw-la feed_v qui_fw-la ob_fw-la i'latas_fw-la injurias_fw-la nobis_fw-la sunt_fw-la obnoxii_fw-la calvin_n debt_n due_a to_o we_o and_o if_o necessity_n require_v we_o may_v right_v ourselves_o by_o law_n have_v only_o a_o desire_n of_o justice_n in_o our_o eye_n yea_o in_o lawful_a war_n we_o may_v kill_v our_o enemy_n and_o yet_o forgive_v take_v these_o restriction_n as_o we_o forgive_v that_o be_v we_o be_v drag_v by_o mere_a necessary_a to_o use_v rigour_n 2._o that_o we_o do_v actual_o forgive_v all_o injury_n that_o may_v be_v forgive_v without_o manifest_a dishonour_n to_o god_n wrong_v to_o other_o or_o very_o great_a injury_n to_o ourselves_o 3._o that_o even_o then_o when_o we_o be_v necessitate_v to_o right_v ourselves_o in_o any_o kind_a we_o do_v it_o not_o out_o of_o spleen_n or_o passion_n or_o any_o other_o sinister_a or_o private_a respect_n but_o for_o god_n glory_n the_o good_a of_o other_o or_o the_o just_a reparation_n of_o our_o name_n estate_n person_n etc._n etc._n and_o for_o amendment_n of_o those_o if_o possible_a who_o have_v do_v we_o the_o injury_n so_o that_o the_o trespass_n which_o we_o be_v to_o forgive_v other_o be_v not_o debt_n proper_o so_o call_v but_o injury_n and_o offence_n and_o the_o forgiveness_n require_v be_v not_o absolute_a but_o with_o these_o limitation_n i_o now_o proceed_v to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o this_o petition_n quest_n 1._o why_o be_v forgiveness_n to_o be_v seek_v by_o prayer_n reason_n may_v be_v multiply_v take_v two_o of_o many_o 1._o reas_n god_n have_v make_v humble_a confession_n and_o petition_n a_o condition_n upon_o which_o though_o not_o a_o cause_n for_o which_o he_o will_v forgive_v sinner_n prov._n 28._o 13._o he_o that_o hide_v his_o sin_n shall_v not_o prosper_v but_o he_o that_o 2._o prayer_n be_v the_o general_a condition_n of_o obtain_v that_o and_o every_o other_o mercy_n and_o this_o be_v one_o of_o the_o special_a mercy_n of_o god_n therefore_o to_o be_v seek_v in_o this_o way_n the_o rule_n be_v if_o any_o man_n lack_v let_v he_o ask_v jam._n 1._o 5._o now_o forgiveness_n be_v the_o first_o mercy_n in_o the_o gospel-covenant_n and_o that_o without_o which_o prayer_n must_v be_v the_o put_n in_o suit_n of_o some_o promise_n and_o no_o promise_n can_v be_v plead_v aright_o without_o faith_n exercise_v in_o it_o the_o very_a ask_n then_o do_v import_n believe_v and_o for_o repentance_n that_o be_v include_v in_o the_o implicit_a confession_n of_o sin_n make_v in_o this_o petition_n since_o confess_v and_o forsake_v which_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o
