from_o he_o principle_n of_o loyalty_n and_o in_o this_o case_n it_o may_v be_v consider_v whether_o any_o who_o example_n may_v have_v influence_n upon_o the_o 〈◊〉_d of_o the_o nation_n may_v not_o be_v oblige_v even_o to_o loose_v their_o life_n for_o the_o king_n de_fw-fr jure_fw-la because_o here_o their_o death_n may_v do_v some_o service_n to_o religion_n and_o the_o king_n cause_n whereas_o in_o war_n their_o die_v rather_o then_o to_o take_v quarter_n and_o make_v themselves_o captive_n to_o a_o enemy_n that_o have_v their_o life_n at_o his_o mercy_n will_v do_v their_o king_n so_o service_n at_o all_o 2._o allegiance_n import_v a_o engagement_n of_o the_o subject_n to_o stand_v by_o and_o maintain_v the_o king_n in_o possession_n against_o the_o king_n de_fw-fr jure_fw-la and_o this_o if_o any_o of_o they_o engage_v to_o do_v the_o king_n de_fw-fr jure_fw-la do_v more_o than_o than_o lose_v a_o subject_a for_o he_o get_v a_o enemy_n who_o if_o he_o act_n according_a to_o his_o new_a engagement_n be_v oblige_v even_o to_o oppose_v he_o to_o the_o death_n if_o he_o endeavour_v to_o recover_v his_o crown_n but_o why_o may_v not_o this_o be_v do_v since_o the_o end_n for_o which_o man_n be_v place_v under_o a_o government_n be_v the_o preservation_n of_o their_o life_n and_o property_n and_o therefore_o when_o that_o protection_n fail_v they_o whereby_o they_o out_o of_o possession_n yet_o such_o a_o statute_n and_o custom_n will_v be_v null_a and_o invalid_a as_o contrary_a to_o the_o fundamental_a constitution_n of_o the_o realm_n and_o to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o nature_n as_o will_v appear_v under_o the_o next_o head_n the_o stat._n 11_o hen._n 7._o c._n 1._o which_o i_o come_v now_o to_o consider_v this_o statute_n be_v my_o lord_n coke_n '_o be_v main_a proof_n of_o his_o assertion_n that_o treason_n lie_v only_o against_o the_o king_n in_o possession_n and_o may_v be_v urge_v as_o sufficient_a by_o itself_o to_o make_v it_o law_n since_o that_o time_n though_o it_o have_v not_o be_v so_o either_o by_o statute_n or_o common_a law_n before_o and_o it_o be_v also_o make_v a_o distinct_a argument_n to_o prove_v direct_o that_o allegiance_n be_v due_a to_o the_o king_n in_o possession_n only_o the_o main_a of_o the_o statute_n be_v in_o these_o word_n the_o king_n our_o sovereign_a lord_n call_v to_o his_o remembrance_n the_o duty_n of_o allegiance_n of_o his_o subject_n of_o this_o his_o realm_n and_o that_o they_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o same_o be_v bind_v to_o serve_v their_o prince_n and_o sovereign_a lord_n for_o the_o time_n be_v in_o his_o war_n for_o the_o defence_n of_o he_o and_o the_o land_n against_o every_o rebellion_n power_n and_o may_v rear_v against_o he_o and_o that_o for_o the_o same_o service_n what_o fortune_n ever_o fall_v by_o chance_n in_o the_o same_o battle_n against_o the_o mind_n and_o will_n of_o the_o prince_n it_o be_v not_o reasonable_a but_o against_o all_o law_n reason_n and_o good_a conscience_n that_o the_o say_v subject_n go_v with_o their_o sovereign_a lord_n in_o war_n any_o thing_n shall_v loose_v or_o forfeit_v for_o do_v their_o true_a duty_n and_o service_n of_o allegiance_n it_o be_v therefore_o ordain_v enact_v and_o establish_v by_o the_o king_n our_o sovereign_a lord_n that_o from_o henceforth_o no_o manner_n of_o person_n or_o person_n whatsoever_o he_o or_o they_o be_v that_o attend_v upon_o the_o king_n and_o sovereign_a lord_n of_o this_o land_n for_o the_o time_n be_v in_o his_o person_n and_o do_v he_o true_a and_o faithful_a the_o subject_n be_v due_a to_o the_o king_n for_o the_o time_n be_v but_o only_o oblique_o suppose_v and_o insinuate_v it_o the_o king_n be_v say_v to_o call_v to_o his_o remembrance_n his_o subject_n duty_n of_o allegiance_n and_o that_o they_o by_o virtue_n of_o it_o be_v bind_v to_o fight_v for_o the_o king_n for_o the_o time_n be_v etc._n etc._n this_o be_v not_o to_o declare_v it_o facto_fw-la be_v do_v their_o true_a duty_n and_o service_n of_o allegiance_n and_o if_o this_o be_v only_o suppose_v and_o that_o supposition_n have_v no_o ground_n neither_o in_o the_o fundamental_a constitution_n of_o the_o realm_n nor_o in_o any_o former_a statute_n or_o custom_n but_o these_o all_o do_v all_o of_o they_o clear_o demonstrate_v the_o contrary_a as_o be_v show_v above_o then_o
