equal_o for_o the_o ordinary_a chief_a solemn_a time_n for_o all_o man_n leave_v enough_o for_o worldly_a matter_n and_o yet_o withal_o determine_v enough_o for_o religion_n and_o to_o this_o our_o next_o qualification_n under_o the_o term_n of_o sufficiency_n as_o the_o two_o forego_v once_o under_o the_o term_n of_o necessity_n speak_v regard_n l._n the_o four_o qualification_n the_o time_n determine_v must_v be_v sufcient_a in_o regard_n our_o four_o condition_n then_o or_o qualification_n of_o the_o chief_a ordinary_a solemn_a time_n to_o be_v determine_v be_v that_o it_o must_v be_v sufficient_a and_o this_o sufficiency_n must_v be_v in_o three_o regard_n 1._o of_o god_n acceptation_n 2._o of_o soul_n benefit_n 3._o of_o conscience_n security_n and_o satisfaction_n we_o suppose_v there_o need_v not_o many_o word_n to_o prove_v this_o condition_n to_o be_v not_o only_o reasonable_a but_o necessary_a every_o one_o that_o speak_v of_o this_o chief_a solemn_a time_n of_o worship_n give_v it_o the_o term_n of_o sufficient_a and_o under_o that_o title_n be_v our_o general_a argument_n prove_v a_o necessity_n of_o such_o a_o sufficient_a time_n to_o be_v determine_v and_o it_o may_v be_v demonstrate_v we_o think_v that_o that_o time_n be_v not_o sufficient_a neither_o can_v deserve_v to_o be_v so_o call_v or_o count_v that_o be_v not_o sufficient_a in_o all_o these_o three_o regard_n acceptation_n 1._o of_o god_n acceptation_n first_o we_o say_v it_o must_v be_v sufficient_a both_o for_o the_o whole_a of_o the_o proportion_n and_o for_o the_o wise_a distribution_n of_o it_o between_o the_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n in_o regard_n of_o god_n acceptation_n he_o require_v of_o all_o man_n general_o and_o ordinary_o no_o great_a proportion_n in_o the_o whole_a not_o no_o other_o distribution_n of_o that_o proportion_n than_o such_o a_o determination_n express_v and_o conclude_v but_o be_v gracious_o please_v with_o so_o much_o so_o often_o and_o accept_v it_o as_o a_o right_n and_o orderly_a service_n of_o he_o if_o according_o observe_v and_o present_v unless_o it_o reach_v to_o this_o to_o what_o purpose_n be_v all_o or_o any_o thing_n what_o end_n or_o use_v of_o any_o determination_n or_o observation_n of_o time_n at_o all_o god_n have_v no_o need_n of_o we_o our_o service_n our_o time_n or_o any_o thing_n yet_o he_o require_v all_o this_o that_o we_o present_v soul_n and_o body_n to_o he_o and_o this_o and_o that_o solemn_a service_n and_o observe_v sufficient_a time_n it_o must_v then_o be_v mean_v of_o such_o sufficiency_n as_o he_o will_v accept_v who_o all_o time_n be_v and_o who_o we_o be_v and_o all_o thing_n to_o give_v he_o then_o determinate_o or_o determine_v for_o his_o solemn_a worship_n less_a or_o otherwise_o then_o be_v acceptable_a to_o he_o be_v as_o good_a or_o as_o bad_a as_o to_o give_v he_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o determine_v no_o time_n at_o all_o for_o his_o service_n we_o need_v say_v no_o more_o of_o this_o this_o be_v the_o ultimate_a and_o supreme_a end_n of_o all_o religious_a service_n and_o so_o of_o all_o determination_n for_o religion_n to_o please_v god_n and_o do_v that_o which_o be_v acceptable_a to_o he_o 2._o but_o we_o must_v add_v benefit_n 2._o the_o soul_n benefit_n that_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o this_o chief_a solemn_a time_n must_v extend_v to_o the_o benefit_n of_o man_n soul_n for_o as_o much_o as_o god_n be_v so_o gracious_a towards_o mankind_n and_o so_o much_o intend_v their_o good_a in_o all_o the_o service_n and_o duty_n he_o call_v they_o unto_o that_o he_o accept_v of_o no_o service_n as_o sufficient_a towards_o he_o which_o be_v not_o in_o their_o nature_n and_o degree_n also_o sufficient_a to_o man_n soul_n their_o salvation_n by_o the_o attainment_n of_o necessary_a knowledge_n and_o answerable_a spiritual_a affection_n if_o then_o the_o time_n determine_v for_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n for_o religion_n be_v not_o fair_o sufficient_a in_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o ordinary_a chief_a time_n for_o the_o get_n and_o preserve_v of_o knowledge_n of_o religion_n in_o all_o man_n and_o the_o work_n and_o maintain_v of_o all_o godly_a affection_n in_o they_o by_o the_o advantage_n of_o a_o just_a proportion_n in_o the_o whole_a allot_v to_o it_o and_o a_o wise_a distribution_n of_o the_o continuance_n special_o so_o as_o there_o may_v be_v upon_o
as_o mahomet_n the_o very_a villain_n one_o of_o they_o that_o ever_o live_v in_o the_o world_n if_o they_o shall_v say_v that_o this_o day_n of_o mahomet_n invention_n be_v to_o be_v abhor_v indeed_o in_o token_n of_o detestation_n of_o his_o impiety_n but_o some_o other_o day_n may_v be_v yield_v to_o we_o reply_v 1._o that_o still_o than_o christian_n must_v suffer_v for_o that_o nicety_n of_o a_o day_n 2._o that_o it_o be_v scarce_o imaginable_a that_o any_o pagan_a governor_n will_v allow_v any_o other_o day_n than_o what_o they_o observe_v themselves_o for_o the_o first_o will_v be_v double_a against_o their_o profit_n in_o that_o 1._o they_o can_v not_o have_v their_o servant_n labour_v when_o they_o be_v at_o leisure_n to_o join_v with_o they_o and_o over_o look_v they_o and_o when_o they_o be_v absent_a they_o will_v fear_v their_o work_n will_v be_v do_v but_o untoward_o 2._o beside_o that_o whosoever_o observe_v a_o day_n do_v it_o in_o some_o reference_n to_o their_o own_o religion_n and_o so_o will_v rather_o tie_v they_o to_o that_o then_o let_v they_o have_v another_o special_o 3._o when_o they_o may_v be_v able_a to_o tell_v they_o out_o of_o our_o adversary_n supposition_n that_o their_o religion_n their_o scripture_n do_v not_o determine_v they_o to_o any_o particular_a day_n but_o leave_v it_o to_o their_o governor_n to_o determine_v and_o so_o still_o they_o must_v observe_v a_o day_n invent_v by_o wicked_a man_n 3._o however_o what_o day_n soever_o they_o take_v up_o a_o sober_a conscience_n will_v we_o think_v shrink_v to_o throw_v away_o the_o lord_n day_n at_o a_o pagan_n command_v let_v this_o we_o say_v be_v consider_v we_o on_o the_o other_o side_n be_v persuade_v that_o god_n have_v not_o only_o determine_v we_o to_o one_o day_n in_o this_o persuasion_n can_v answer_v the_o question_n ready_o that_o we_o must_v hold_v to_o this_o particular_a day_n the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n the_o lord_n day_n and_o no_o other_o whoever_o command_v or_o forbid_v offer_n or_o threaten_v for_o that_o god_n will_v must_v stand_v and_o be_v obey_v before_o man_n against_o man_n and_o he_o must_v be_v trust_v to_o maintain_v we_o sufficient_a time_n for_o religion_n and_o the_o particular_a day_n for_o it_o if_o pagan-governours_n have_v this_o authority_n put_v into_o their_o hand_n by_o god_n then_o it_o be_v reasonable_a they_o shall_v know_v that_o this_o authority_n be_v commit_v to_o they_o but_o pagan-governours_n so_o far_o as_o we_o remember_v in_o any_o story_n never_o know_v of_o any_o such_o authority_n commit_v to_o they_o ergo_fw-la it_o be_v not_o probable_a that_o any_o such_o authority_n be_v put_v over_o to_o they_o the_o consequence_n of_o this_o argument_n may_v be_v confirm_v by_o the_o necessity_n of_o a_o determination_n to_o be_v make_v prove_v and_o confess_v to_o be_v moral_a natural_a and_o that_o it_o can_v be_v imagine_v such_o prince_n shall_v take_v this_o upon_o they_o and_o exercise_v this_o authority_n unless_o they_o have_v some_o knowledge_n or_o persuasion_n that_o this_o authority_n belong_v to_o they_o the_o antecedent_n may_v also_o be_v fair_o argue_v from_o the_o silence_n of_o all_o book_n in_o this_o point_n for_o though_o we_o know_v that_o pagan_a prince_n and_o state_n do_v appoint_v some_o day_n extraordinary_o yet_o we_o find_v not_o that_o priest_n or_o otherwise_o and_o the_o great_a flatterer_n of_o pagan_a prince_n never_o do_v that_o we_o remember_v ascribe_v this_o authority_n to_o they_o as_o give_v they_o by_o their_o god_n it_o be_v wonderful_a then_o that_o we_o christian_n shall_v find_v out_o this_o authority_n give_v by_o god_n to_o pagan_a prince_n of_o which_o as_o we_o say_v before_o there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o word_n nor_o intimation_n nor_o shadow_n of_o any_o such_o thing_n in_o scripture_n and_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n also_o be_v sufficient_o clear_a against_o it_o we_o conclude_v then_o here_o the_o authority_n be_v not_o and_o yet_o upon_o divers_a supposition_n of_o our_o adversary_n touch_v already_o and_o to_o be_v touch_v hereafter_o here_o it_o must_v be_v or_o no_o where_o among_o man_n for_o those_o that_o live_v in_o pagan_a country_n for_o to_o come_v to_o the_o other_o sort_n of_o man_n that_o be_v the_o church_n of_o god_n of_o which_o we_o say_v as_o before_z mankind_n xxi_o 2._o not_o to_o the_o church_n for_o all_o mankind_n god_n have_v not_o give_v to_o it_o the_o authority_n of_o determine_v the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n necessary_a and_o ordinary_o sufficient_a for_o the_o chief_a time_n unto_o all_o mankind_n mankind_n in_o reference_n to_o the_o church_n be_v again_o distinguishable_a into_o pagan_n and_o member_n of_o the_o church_n of_o the_o latter_a fort_n we_o shall_v dispute_v more_o at_o large_a of_o the_o former_a a_o few_o word_n may_v suffice_v which_o yet_o add_v to_o the_o former_a discourse_n will_v carry_v the_o cause_n clear_o and_o undeniable_o that_o it_o be_v moral_a natural_a to_o all_o man_n to_o have_v and_o observe_v a_o sufficient_a time_n determine_v for_o religion_n this_o determination_n do_v not_o nor_o can_v belong_v to_o man_n but_o to_o god_n himself_o thus_o we_o reason_n concern_v pagan_n if_o the_o church_n universal_a have_v no_o authority_n but_o ever_o her_o own_o member_n then_o the_o authority_n of_o determine_v the_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a time_n for_o religion_n unto_o all_o man_n belong_v not_o to_o the_o church_n but_o the_o church_n universal_a have_v no_o authority_n but_o over_o her_o own_o member_n ergo_fw-la the_o authority_n of_o determine_v this_o time_n unto_o all_o man_n belong_v not_o to_o the_o church_n the_o consequence_n of_o this_o argument_n can_v be_v deny_v unless_o any_o will_v offer_v to_o say_v that_o all_o mankind_n be_v member_n of_o the_o church_n universal_a which_o be_v most_o absurd_a the_o antecedent_n be_v easy_o prove_v as_o well_o 1._o the_o apostle_n deny_v any_o such_o authority_n to_o be_v in_o the_o church_n of_o judge_v those_o that_o be_v without_o 1_o cor._n 5._o and_o if_o they_o can_v judge_v they_o than_o not_o determine_v any_o thing_n to_o they_o for_o this_o and_o that_o authority_n go_v together_o in_o thing_n determinable_a by_o the_o church_n though_o the_o church_n may_v judge_v in_o thing_n wherein_o it_o may_v not_o determine_v in_o the_o sense_n we_o now_o take_v determination_n that_o be_v the_o church_n may_v censure_v which_o be_v the_o judge_v there_o mean_v offender_n against_o god_n law_n as_o the_o incestuous_a person_n speak_v of_o but_o it_o may_v not_o determine_v that_o to_o be_v incest_n which_o god_n have_v not_o make_v so_o nor_o determine_v any_o to_o be_v lawful_a or_o dispense_v with_o it_o when_o god_n have_v forbid_v it_o however_o presumptuous_a the_o church_n of_o rome_n have_v be_v in_o both_o it_o be_v less_o than_o to_o determine_v and_o make_v law_n then_o to_o judge_v and_o to_o satan_n and_o satan_n undeniable_o have_v they_o already_o the_o church_n authority_n be_v apparent_o but_o the_o authority_n of_o a_o mother_n now_o a_o mother_n as_o a_o mother_n have_v no_o derogatory_n to_o the_o authority_n god_n have_v give_v to_o prince_n parent_n master_n though_o pagan_n that_o any_o other_o man_n shall_v have_v or_o be_v say_v or_o think_v to_o have_v authority_n particular_o not_o every_o man_n single_a not_o pagan-governours_n for_o all_o under_o they_o not_o the_o church_n for_o all_o man_n ergo_fw-la it_o belong_v not_o to_o man_n but_o to_o god_n and_o here_o if_o we_o do_v stop_v we_o suppose_v upon_o the_o former_a proof_n and_o confession_n of_o such_o a_o time_n moral_a natural_a necessary_a to_o be_v determine_v for_o all_o man_n and_o to_o shall_v the_o same_o law_n extend_v to_o they_o and_o bound_v they_o many_o law_n give_v to_o the_o church_n in_o scripture_n do_v not_o bind_v the_o rest_n of_o mankind_n absolute_o that_o be_v not_o till_o they_o enter_v into_o the_o church_n and_o so_o into_o the_o covenant_n of_o god_n they_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o the_o passeover_n nor_o admit_v to_o it_o till_o they_o yield_v themselves_o and_o all_o their_o male_n to_o be_v circumcise_v and_o no_o law_n command_v stranger_n to_o take_v circumcision_n upon_o they_o cornelius_n the_o centurion_n do_v not_o though_o a_o man_n that_o fear_v god_n act_v 10.11_o and_o it_o be_v general_o hold_v that_o the_o ceremonial_n and_o judicial_n deliver_v particular_o to_o israel_n by_o moses_n and_o not_o to_o other_o man_n before_o bind_v undeniable_a upon_o the_o ground_n lay_v namely_o that_o the_o determination_n of_o this_o time_n be_v not_o leave_v to_o man_n to_o every_o man_n single_a or_o any_o number_n of_o man_n for_o all_o the_o rest_n and_o so_o be_v to_o be_v make_v of_o necessity_n to_o religion_n by_o some_o or_o other_o it_o be_v make_v by_o god_n and_o if_o make_v by_o god_n than_o either_o 1._o in_o nature_n which_o we_o have_v also_o disprove_v and_o show_v even_o with_o our_o adversary_n consent_v who_o urge_v the_o same_o to_o serve_v their_o own_o turn_n that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n do_v not_o make_v this_o determination_n or_o else_o 2._o in_o scripture_n which_o than_o we_o say_v be_v and_o be_v gen._n 2._o to_o adam_n and_o to_o all_o his_o posterity_n all_o mankind_n after_o he_o and_o who_o will_v or_o can_v deny_v it_o to_o be_v express_v gen._n 2._o if_o it_o be_v make_v to_o adam_n or_o else_o 3._o man_n must_v fly_v to_o we_o know_v not_o what_o wild_a imagination_n of_o some_o revelation_n no_o man_n can_v tell_v when_o nor_o of_o what_o to_o cain_n and_o his_o apostatise_v posterity_n and_o so_o to_o the_o rest_n of_o adam_n posterity_n which_o fall_v away_o from_o the_o church_n which_o continue_v chief_o in_o the_o race_n of_o seth_n and_o again_o afterward_o a_o new_a revelation_n to_o chaâ—_n and_o his_o posterity_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o noah_n posterity_n who_o revolt_v from_o the_o church_n and_o remain_v out_o of_o it_o revelation_n we_o say_v to_o these_o of_o a_o determination_n make_v by_o god_n of_o a_o proportion_n of_o time_n that_o even_o they_o be_v to_o observe_v though_o no_o man_n can_v guess_v any_o thing_n what_o or_o how_o or_o when_o this_o be_v which_o be_v so_o exotic_a a_o fancy_n have_v so_o plain_a a_o story_n as_o gen._n 2._o before_o our_o eye_n as_o we_o suppose_v no_o man_n will_v believe_v himself_o if_o he_o shall_v offer_v to_o affirm_v it_o and_o much_o less_o hope_n that_o any_o other_o will_v believe_v he_o that_o believe_v the_o book_n of_o genesis_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o that_o then_o we_o must_v have_v recourse_n to_o know_v what_o time_n god_n original_o require_v of_o and_o determine_v unto_o all_o mankind_n though_o revolt_a afterward_o from_o the_o church_n most_o of_o they_o and_o so_o neglect_v and_o forget_v it_o he_o vouchsafe_v not_o again_o to_o revive_v it_o to_o they_o particular_o for_o the_o reason_n we_o give_v but_o awhile_o since_o and_o so_o this_o time_n give_v to_o they_o for_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n necessary_a and_o sufficient_a be_v also_o give_v to_o the_o church_n who_o be_v also_o adam_n posterity_n or_o rather_o it_o be_v first_o give_v to_o the_o church_n in_o which_o at_o first_o outward_o all_o adam_n posterity_n be_v till_o they_o revolt_v and_o so_o still_o remain_v to_o the_o church_n as_o also_o that_o time_n be_v still_o the_o time_n which_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o mankind_n stand_v bind_v to_o to_o this_o day_n though_o now_o they_o know_v nothing_o of_o it_o answer_v xxiii_o a_o objection_n answer_v if_o it_o be_v object_v that_o this_o argument_n will_v prove_v indeed_o that_o the_o time_n mention_v gen._n 2._o be_v determine_v to_o adam_n and_o all_o the_o church_n under_o the_o old_a testament_n but_o not_o that_o it_o remain_v god_n determination_n under_o the_o new_a testament_n because_o with_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n for_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n namely_o one_o whole_a day_n in_o seven_o to_o make_v up_o the_o chief_a time_n necessary_a and_o sufficient_a for_o all_o man_n there_o be_v also_o unquestionable_o determine_v withal_o the_o particular_a day_n the_o seven_o day_n from_o the_o first_o creation_n and_o we_o do_v not_o urge_v that_o will_v appear_v to_o be_v general_o except_o in_o one_o case_n or_o two_o indefinite_a 4._o the_o nature_n of_o the_o secondary_a subject_n and_o usual_a and_o certain_a impediment_n of_o religious_a worship_n that_o it_o can_v have_v all_o time_n allot_v to_o it_o namely_o the_o body_n and_o bodily_a and_o worldly_a business_n which_o allow_v not_o we_o say_v all_o time_n to_o be_v devote_v to_o religion_n and_o solemn_a worship_n but_o call_v for_o a_o share_n of_o time_n from_o every_o man_n both_o for_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n all_o his_o life_n long_o the_o nature_n of_o which_o business_n will_v appear_v to_o be_v 1._o suitable_a to_o corrupt_a nature_n 2._o exceed_o various_a numerous_a and_o uncertain_a and_o capable_a also_o of_o take_v up_o all_o the_o time_n of_o life_n if_o they_o may_v be_v suffer_v 3._o at_o the_o best_a but_o secondary_a and_o inferior_a business_n and_o these_o four_o consideration_n be_v all_o the_o rule_n that_o adam_n or_o any_o of_o the_o old_a patriarch_n can_v have_v to_o look_v to_o towards_o the_o make_n of_o this_o determination_n of_o the_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a chief_a time_n for_o religion_n if_o it_o have_v be_v as_o be_v suppose_v by_o our_o disputer_n leave_v to_o they_o to_o make_v for_o themselves_o and_o other_o and_o they_o be_v all_o also_o that_o the_o christian_a church_n can_v well_o pretend_v to_o suppose_v the_o determination_n leave_v to_o they_o only_o to_o gratify_v our_o disputer_n who_o seem_v often_o to_o fancy_n as_o though_o the_o proportion_n the_o jew_n observe_v or_o rather_o we_o say_v which_o god_n determine_v to_o they_o of_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o may_v serve_v for_o some_o kind_n of_o rule_n to_o estimate_v this_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a time_n by_o though_o by_o no_o mean_n they_o will_v yield_v that_o particular_a proportion_n and_o distribution_n to_o be_v necessary_a and_o sufficient_a now_o for_o that_o be_v to_o yield_v in_o effect_n the_o whole_a can_v be_v sufficient_a who_o can_v declare_v the_o mighty_a act_n of_o the_o lord_n who_o can_v show_v forth_o all_o his_o praise_n say_v the_o holy_a psalmist_n psal_n 106.2_o thy_n glorious_a parcel_n of_o our_o time_n for_o religion_n and_o leave_v the_o rest_n for_o other_o purpose_n to_o scanty_a god_n as_o if_o he_o be_v not_o worthy_a of_o all_o our_o time_n and_o afford_v the_o world_n and_o worldly_a business_n what_o be_v not_o allot_v to_o he_o the_o question_n be_v not_o here_o whether_o a_o man_n may_v not_o employ_v some_o time_n upon_o worldly_a business_n by_o god_n allowance_n for_o we_o be_v far_o enough_o from_o deny_v that_o but_o whether_o the_o majesty_n glory_n and_o honour_n of_o the_o eternal_a god_n the_o lord_n of_o we_o and_o all_o our_o time_n in_o and_z by_o itself_o consider_v can_v afford_v to_o spare_v any_o time_n from_o his_o attendance_n and_o special_o which_o way_n it_o can_v be_v possible_a that_o the_o thought_n of_o his_o incomprehensible_a excellency_n and_o glory_n shall_v direct_v we_o to_o share_v time_n between_o his_o immediate_a service_n and_o worldly_a matter_n the_o holy_a angel_n in_o heaven_n keep_v a_o eternal_a sabbath_n without_o intermission_n interruption_n or_o end_n we_o shall_v do_v so_o too_o hereafter_o with_o they_o if_o we_o right_o and_o faithful_o serve_v he_o upon_o earth_n and_o without_o all_o controversy_n such_o a_o eternal_a sabbath_n swallow_v up_o all_o time_n be_v not_o over-sufficient_a to_o give_v attendance_n upon_o he_o and_o his_o praise_n nor_o can_v be_v sufficient_a if_o any_o
thing_n can_v be_v add_v to_o it_o that_o then_o all_o our_o time_n be_v not_o so_o take_v up_o with_o his_o immediate_a worship_n even_o upon_o earth_n no_o reason_n can_v be_v sufficient_a but_o his_o own_o will_n declare_v to_o be_v otherwise_o then_o to_o require_v the_o whole_a from_o we_o his_o will_n alone_o be_v that_o which_o abate_v of_o the_o necessity_n of_o any_o one_o minute_n or_o moment_n of_o time_n in_o our_o whole_a life_n from_o our_o particular_a attendance_n upon_o he_o and_o that_o make_v any_o jote_n less_o than_o all_o to_o be_v in_o his_o acceptation_n sufficient_a his_o will_n than_o we_o must_v seek_v further_o after_o in_o some_o of_o the_o other_o consideration_n for_o here_o we_o be_v undeniable_o at_o a_o loss_n and_o can_v make_v nothing_o of_o our_o thought_n towards_o a_o determination_n 2._o take_v we_o a_o view_n then_o in_o the_o next_o place_n soul_n xlix_o 2._o not_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o prime_a subject_n of_o worship_n and_o secondary_a end_n of_o all_o religious_a time_n for_o who_o benefit_n proper_o it_o be_v to_o be_v employ_v and_o this_o we_o say_v both_o scripture_n chief_o and_o nature_n also_o at_o least_o not_o reasonable_o contradict_v proclaim_v to_o be_v infinite_a in_o duration_n appoint_v to_o a_o eternity_n of_o happiness_n or_o misery_n and_o its_o necessity_n to_o secure_v this_o happiness_n and_o avoid_v this_o misery_n consider_v what_o corruption_n it_o have_v be_v next_o to_o infinite_a which_o way_n then_o can_v that_o which_o be_v infinite_a or_o next_o to_o infinite_a afford_v a_o direction_n to_o judge_v any_o proportion_n definite_a to_o be_v sufficient_a for_o it_o or_o measure_v so_o much_o as_o necessary_a and_o leave_v any_o out_o of_o all_o the_o time_n that_o any_o soul_n have_v in_o this_o life_n and_o if_o the_o inevitable_a necessity_n of_o nature_n for_o eat_v drink_v and_o sleep_v etc._n etc._n be_v plead_v yet_o we_o doubt_v not_o whether_o the_o soul_n will_v not_o or_o shall_v not_o grudge_v even_o at_o these_o as_o endanger_v to_o hinder_v that_o which_o be_v of_o more_o importance_n than_o meat_n or_o drink_v or_o sleep_v or_o even_o than_o the_o bodily_a life_n and_o subsistence_n itself_o not_o that_o we_o imagine_v or_o dream_n that_o god_n have_v not_o allow_v even_o by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o much_o more_o by_o scripture_n sufficient_a time_n for_o all_o these_o bodily_a necessity_n but_o yet_o we_o know_v that_o both_o god_n sometime_o command_v to_o fast_o and_o forbear_v all_o meat_n and_o drink_n for_o a_o space_n and_o so_o to_o watch_v even_o whole_a night_n for_o the_o good_a of_o soul_n our_o own_o special_o but_o also_o even_o of_o other_o as_o likewise_o that_o when_o a_o soul_n grow_v extraordinary_o solicitous_a of_o its_o own_o salvation_n and_o sometime_o even_o of_o other_o it_o can_v afford_v to_o eat_v or_o drink_v it_o can_v sleep_v ready_a sometime_o even_o to_o starve_v itself_o or_o kill_v itself_o with_o overwatch_v but_o that_o it_o be_v force_v up_o do_v otherwise_o even_o by_o god_n command_n urge_v upon_o they_o by_o friend_n and_o the_o fear_n of_o prejudice_v their_o very_a salvation_n if_o they_o shall_v be_v cause_n of_o their_o own_o death_n and_o moreover_o it_o be_v usual_a with_o many_o christian_n to_o think_v much_o and_o repine_v at_o all_o the_o time_n wherein_o they_o be_v not_o spiritual_o employ_v for_o their_o soul_n even_o though_o they_o can_v deny_v but_o god_n have_v not_o only_o allow_v but_o even_o command_v they_o to_o employ_v hour_n and_o day_n many_o and_o many_o upon_o worldly_a business_n which_o command_n and_o allowance_n of_o his_o be_v the_o only_a thing_n that_o satisfy_v they_o or_o else_o they_o can_v never_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o they_o think_v of_o their_o soul_n be_v willing_a to_o allow_v any_o time_n at_o all_o to_o any_o other_o thing_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o manner_n of_o help_n from_o hence_o for_o any_o share_v of_o time_n between_o the_o soul_n and_o worldly_a occasion_n the_o rather_o because_o a_o soul_n awaken_v with_o sense_n of_o its_o own_o good_a become_v apprehensive_a 1._o that_o there_o be_v yet_o manifold_a thing_n in_o religion_n which_o be_v great_o necessary_a for_o it_o to_o know_v what_o ever_o knowledge_n it_o godly_a affection_n 4._o and_o the_o strength_n of_o their_o corruption_n which_o require_v still_o much_o and_o often_o time_n to_o strengthen_v the_o one_o and_o combat_n and_o mortify_v the_o other_o 5._o and_o final_o their_o be_v assault_v daily_o and_o hourly_o with_o temptation_n and_o affliction_n and_o their_o peace_n and_o comfort_n further_o waste_v by_o sin_n and_o corruption_n which_o make_v they_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o time_n yet_o more_o to_o regain_v that_o peace_n and_o comfort_n when_o it_o be_v go_v or_o waste_v and_o to_o enjoy_v spiritual_a refresh_n in_o the_o bosom_n of_o god_n love_n all_o this_o together_o can_v but_o make_v a_o soul_n think_v no_o measure_n of_o time_n less_o than_o all_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a for_o attendance_n upon_o he_o who_o it_o be_v bind_v to_o love_n with_o its_o whole_a self_n mind_n heart_n strength_n and_o so_o to_o work_v upon_o itself_o that_o it_o may_v love_v he_o and_o be_v sure_a of_o his_o love_n and_o when_o it_o have_v once_o attain_v to_o this_o love_n of_o he_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n and_o to_o a_o assurance_n of_o his_o love_n to_o it_o it_o can_v but_o still_o think_v all_o time_n be_v little_a enough_o and_o too_o little_a to_o serve_v he_o in_o thankfulness_n for_o his_o love_n and_o to_o enjoy_v his_o love_n and_o its_o own_o happiness_n in_o attendance_n upon_o he_o and_o converse_v with_o he_o it_o must_v then_o again_o be_v god_n will_v declare_v that_o man_n shall_v spend_v their_o time_n in_o this_o world_n otherwise_o then_o whole_o upon_o the_o immediate_a care_n of_o their_o soul_n in_o his_o immediate_a service_n that_o must_v discharge_v any_o proportion_n at_o all_o from_o be_v necessary_a to_o the_o soul_n good_a 71._o see_v sect._n 71._o and_o so_o his_o to_o be_v their_o capital_a and_o fundamental_a error_n in_o the_o whole_a dispute_n about_o the_o sabbath_n and_o lordsday_n and_o can_v sufficient_o wonder_v how_o it_o shall_v settle_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o considerate_a divine_n but_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o error_n of_o this_o conceit_n we_o hope_v to_o represent_v to_o all_o reader_n and_o even_o to_o our_o disputer_n own_o conscience_n by_o these_o four_o argument_n follow_v indulgence_n lxvii_o 1._o otherwise_o no_o time_n shall_v be_v god_n but_o by_o man_n indulgence_n 1._o be_v not_o this_o to_o reduce_v all_o
