thereby_o to_o delude_v simple_a people_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o may_v take_v place_n to_o subvert_v the_o law_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o subject_a all_o our_o liberty_n to_o a_o arbitrary_a power_n under_o pretence_n of_o law_n to_o the_o worst_a of_o all_o evil_n by_o this_o you_o may_v easy_o understand_v the_o drift_n of_o the_o counsel_n that_o be_v at_o oxford_n and_o this_o use_n we_o ought_v to_o make_v of_o it_o to_o unite_v ourselves_o with_o more_o strong_a resolution_n and_o unwearied_a affection_n then_o ever_o with_o our_o purse_n life_n and_o estate_n to_o labour_v to_o redeem_v ourselves_o from_o this_o misery_n and_o thraldom_n that_o be_v threaten_v we_o and_o now_o appear_v in_o more_o clear_a demonstration_n than_o ever_o yet_o it_o have_v you_o shall_v now_o hear_v the_o proclamation_n itself_o read_v this_o paper_n that_o be_v now_o to_o be_v read_v to_o you_o be_v that_o which_o come_v in_o the_o form_n of_o a_o proclamation_n for_o as_o you_o well_o know_v the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n be_v now_o with_o the_o parliament_n and_o the_o other_o great_a seal_n by_o the_o ordinance_n be_v make_v void_a and_o such_o be_v the_o confidence_n they_o have_v of_o this_o good_a doctrine_n of_o they_o and_o to_o set_v up_o another_o parliament_n in_o the_o room_n of_o it_o and_o to_o proceed_v upon_o these_o principle_n and_o ground_n they_o think_v it_o necessary_a to_o send_v it_o beyond_o sea_n hope_v hereby_o to_o unite_v all_o popish_a prince_n upon_o this_o point_n who_o know_v very_o well_o the_o true_a protestant_a religion_n must_v inevitable_o be_v root_v out_o if_o this_o protestant_a parliament_n be_v make_v no_o parliament_n or_o destroy_v in_o which_o all_o our_o other_o law_n at_o the_o same_o time_n occasion_n of_o the_o invasion_n by_o the_o scot_n whereas_o we_o do_v by_o our_o proclamation_n hear_v date_n the_o twenty_o day_n of_o june_n last_o upon_o due_a consideration_n of_o the_o misery_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o the_o true_a cause_n thereof_o warn_v all_o our_o good_a subject_n no_o long_o to_o be_v miss_v by_o the_o note_n divers_n and_o pretend_a ordinance_n of_o one_o or_o both_o house_n by_o reason_n the_o member_n do_v not_o enjoy_v the_o freedom_n and_o liberty_n of_o parliament_n which_o appear_v by_o several_a instance_n of_o force_n and_o violence_n and_o by_o the_o course_n of_o their_o proceed_n mention_v in_o our_o say_a proclamation_n and_o several_a of_o our_o declaration_n since_o which_o time_n our_o subject_n of_o scotland_n have_v make_v great_a and_o warlike_a preparation_n to_o enter_v and_o inhave_v this_o kingdom_n with_o a_o army_n and_o have_v already_o actual_o invade_v the_o same_o by_o possess_v themselves_o by_o force_n of_o arm_n subject_n of_o this_o kingdom_n will_v look_v upon_o as_o the_o most_o insolent_a act_n of_o ingratitude_n and_o dissoyalty_n and_o to_o the_o apparent_a breach_n of_o the_o late_a act_n of_o pacification_n so_o solemn_o make_v between_o the_o kingdom_n and_o be_v indeed_o no_o other_o than_o a_o design_n of_o conquest_n and_o so_o impose_v new_a law_n upon_o this_o nation_n they_o not_o so_o much_o as_o pretend_v the_o least_o probecation_n or_o violation_n from_o this_o kingdom_n so_o we_o be_v most_o assure_v that_o the_o major_a part_n of_o both_o house_n of_o parliament_n do_v from_o their_o soul_n abhor_v the_o least_o thought_n of_o introduce_v that_o for_o reign_v power_n to_o increase_v and_o make_v desperate_a the_o mile_n rise_z of_o their_o unhappy_a country_n and_o therefore_o that_o it_o may_v appear_v to_o all_o the_o world_n how_o far_o the_o mayor_n part_n of_o both_o house_n be_v from_o such_o action_n of_o treason_n and_o disloyalty_n and_o how_o gross_o those_o few_o member_n remain_v at_o westminster_n have_v and_o do_v impose_v upon_o our_o people_n we_o do_v will_n and_o require_v such_o of_o the_o member_n of_o both_o house_n as_o well_o those_o who_o have_v be_v by_o the_o faction_n of_o the_o malignant_a party_n expel_v for_o perform_v their_o duty_n to_o we_o and_o into_o who_o room_n no_o person_n have_v be_v since_o choose_v by_o their_o country_n as_o the_o rest_n who_o have_v be_v drive_v thence_o and_o all_o those_o who_o be_v conscious_a of_o their_o want_n of_o freedom_n now_o shall_v be_v willing_a to_o withdraw_v from_o that_o rebellious_a city_n to_o assemble_v themselves_o together_o at_o our_o city_n of_o oxford_n on_o monday_n the_o twenty_o second_o day_n of_o january_n where_o care_n shall_v be_v take_v for_o their_o several_a accommodation_n and_o fit_a place_n appoint_v for_o their_o meeting_n and_o where_o all_o our_o good_a suject_n shall_v see_v how_o willing_a we_o be_v to_o receive_v advice_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o religion_n law_n and_o safety_n of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o as_o far_o as_o in_o we_o lie_v to_o restore_v it_o to_o its_o former_a peace_n and_o security_n our_o chief_a and_o only_a end_n from_o those_o who_o they_o have_v trust_v though_o we_o can_v receive_v it_o in_o the_o place_n where_o we_o appoint_v and_o for_o the_o better_a encouragement_n of_o those_o action_n and_o that_o all_o the_o world_n may_v see_v how_o willing_a and_o desirous_a we_o be_v to_o forget_v the_o injury_n and_o indignity_n offer_v to_o we_o and_o by_o a_o union_n of_o english_a heart_n to_o prevent_v the_o last_a misery_n which_o this_o foreign_a invasion_n must_v bring_v upon_o this_o kingdom_n we_o do_v offer_v a_o free_a and_o general_n pardon_v to_o all_o the_o member_n of_o either_o house_n who_o shall_v at_o or_o before_o the_o say_v twenty_o second_o day_n of_o january_n appear_v at_o our_o city_n of_o oxford_n and_o desire_v the_o same_o without_o exception_n which_o consider_v the_o manifest_a treason_n commit_v against_o we_o and_o the_o condition_n we_o be_v now_o in_o improve_v by_o god_n wonderful_a blessing_n to_o a_o better_a degree_n than_o we_o have_v enjoy_v at_o any_o time_n since_o these_o distraction_n be_v the_o great_a instance_n of_o princely_a and_o fatherly_a care_n of_o our_o people_n that_o can_v be_v express_v and_o which_o malice_n itself_o can_v suggest_v to_o proceed_v from_o any_o other_o ground_n and_o therefore_o we_o hope_v and_o be_v confident_a that_o all_o such_o who_o upon_o this_o our_o gracious_a their_o own_o and_o shall_v according_o be_v pursue_v as_o the_o most_o desperate_a and_o malicious_a enemy_n of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o our_o pleasure_n be_v that_o this_o our_o proclamation_n be_v read_v in_o all_o church_n and_o chapel_n be_v within_o this_o our_o kingdom_n and_o dominion_n of_o wales_n give_v at_o our_o court_n at_o oxford_n the_o 22th_o day_n of_o december_n in_o the_o nineteenth_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n 1643._o god_n save_v the_o king_n gentleman_n i_o believe_v upon_o the_o read_n of_o this_o paper_n which_o be_v put_v forth_o in_o the_o form_n of_o a_o proclamation_n you_o can_v but_o discern_v a_o great_a affinity_n in_o it_o to_o this_o present_a business_n that_o be_v now_o before_o you_o which_o be_v to_o occasion_n division_n between_o the_o city_n and_o the_o parliament_n to_o raise_v faction_n in_o both_o and_o to_o say_v open_a as_o much_o as_o possible_a may_v be_v to_o the_o power_n and_o malice_n of_o their_o enemy_n howsoever_o they_o cover_v themselves_o under_o these_o fair_a and_o specious_a expression_n which_o you_o have_v hear_v before_o this_o proclamation_n do_v very_o ill_o agr_v with_o his_o majesty_n letter_n here_o it_o be_v call_v the_o disobedient_a and_o rebellious_a city_n in_o this_o proclamation_n and_o here_o the_o parliament_n be_v endeavour_v to_o be_v bring_v from_o you_o though_o before_o you_o be_v the_o
of_o this_o present_a parliament_n as_o will_v appear_v by_o the_o lord_n digbye_n letter_n to_o de_fw-fr vic_a and_o the_o summon_n of_o the_o great_a council_n or_o parliament_n at_o oxford_n compare_v with_o the_o three_o of_o these_o proposition_n by_o the_o letter_n to_o de_fw-fr vic_a this_o parliament_n as_o the_o resolution_n than_o be_v at_o oxford_n must_v not_o be_v acknowledge_v and_o by_o this_o three_o proposition_n for_o that_o very_a cause_n the_o parliament_n must_v be_v wave_v and_o the_o treaty_n must_v be_v immediate_o between_o the_o king_n and_o city_n the_o consequence_n whereof_o have_v be_v no_o less_o than_o the_o render_n of_o the_o kingdom_n for_o ever_o uncapable_a of_o have_v any_o more_o parliament_n this_o parliament_n it_o be_v call_v and_o continue_v according_a to_o the_o know_a law_n and_o usage_n of_o the_o kingdom_n be_v afterward_o by_o a_o act_n of_o parliament_n assent_v unto_o by_o his_o majesty_n so_o acknowledge_v and_o make_v indissolvable_a without_o its_o own_o consent_n a_o great_a testimony_n of_o the_o validity_n of_o this_o parliament_n than_o i_o think_v be_v ever_o give_v to_o any_o if_o neither_o the_o common_a law_n and_o usage_n of_o this_o kingdom_n nor_o the_o concurrent_a authority_n of_o a_o act_n parliament_n be_v able_a to_o support_v this_o parliament_n when_o his_o majesty_n shall_v declare_v the_o contrary_a i_o shall_v without_o more_o word_n leave_v to_o your_o judgement_n whether_o this_o doctrine_n do_v not_o at_o once_o blow_v up_o the_o fundamental_n of_o all_o parliament_n law_n of_o the_o kingdom_n liberty_n of_o the_o subject_n and_o of_o the_o whole_a policy_n and_o government_n of_o this_o kingdom_n which_o be_v destroy_v what_o security_n you_o can_v have_v devise_v for_o the_o maintain_n of_o the_o religion_n law_n and_o liberty_n of_o the_o kingdom_n as_o be_v promise_v you_o in_o his_o majesty_n letter_n i_o know_v not_o 3._o the_o three_o be_v not_o only_o the_o prevent_n of_o the_o assistance_n of_o our_o brethren_n in_o scotland_n but_o that_o which_o be_v worse_o and_o must_v have_v necessary_o follow_v thereupon_o the_o embroil_v of_o both_o the_o nation_n in_o division_n in_o all_o likelihood_n fat_a all_o unto_o both_o this_o will_v appear_v by_o put_v together_o what_o have_v be_v do_v by_o the_o parliament_n those_o at_o oxford_n and_o the_o transaction_n in_o this_o design_n the_o parliament_n long_o since_o have_v invite_v that_o nation_n to_o our_o assistance_n in_o this_o common_a cause_n upon_o weighty_a consideration_n as_o first_o conceive_v that_o by_o this_o mean_n through_o god_n blessing_n this_o great_a cause_n which_o concern_v our_o religion_n law_n liberty_n and_o all_o we_o have_v will_v be_v assure_v and_o the_o event_n of_o the_o war_n otherwise_o doubtful_a make_v more_o certain_a 2._o second_o that_o by_o their_o assistance_n the_o war_n may_v be_v the_o soon_o end_v and_o so_o by_o consequence_n the_o calamity_n which_o of_o necessity_n must_v accompany_v it_o their_o assistance_n add_v so_o considerable_a a_o strength_n to_o our_o party_n beside_o the_o reputation_n which_o the_o concurrence_n of_o a_o whole_a nation_n with_o we_o will_v add_v to_o the_o justness_n of_o the_o cause_n 3._o and_o three_o that_o as_o in_o likelihood_n by_o their_o joint_a concurrence_n a_o better_a peace_n for_o present_a may_v be_v procure_v so_o in_o all_o probability_n what_o shall_v be_v agree_v upon_o will_v be_v the_o more_o last_a and_o durable_a both_o nation_n be_v equal_o interest_v in_o what_o shall_v be_v agree_v upon_o beside_o the_o covenant_n mature_o swear_v and_o agree_v upon_o by_o both_o nation_n for_o the_o maintenance_n and_o defence_n of_o religion_n and_o of_o the_o mutual_a law_n and_o liberty_n of_o each_o kingdom_n a_o solemn_a league_n and_o treaty_n have_v likewise_o be_v mutual_o agree_v upon_o between_o the_o parliament_n here_o and_o that_o to_o be_v let_v into_o this_o kingdom_n and_o no_o council_n call_v about_o it_o to_o hinder_v they_o but_o rather_o the_o council_n to_o bring_v they_o over_o and_o the_o princiall_a actor_n in_o that_o rebellion_n must_v be_v near_o his_o majesty_n heart_n for_o the_o come_n of_o the_o scot_n i_o believe_v you_o all_o know_v very_o well_o that_o the_o parliament_n do_v think_v fit_a find_v how_o near_o the_o interest_n of_o these_o two_o nation_n be_v conjoin_v in_o one_o find_v the_o constant_a love_n and_o amity_n of_o that_o kingdom_n to_o this_o and_o how_o in_o its_o great_a extremity_n it_o be_v very_o punctual_a to_o it_o how_o that_o the_o last_o time_n it_o be_v here_o it_o be_v very_o punctual_a and_o careful_a to_o observe_v all_o condition_n and_o at_o the_o desire_n of_o the_o parliament_n return_v back_o again_o according_a to_o their_o promise_n they_o think_v it_o fit_a to_o enter_v into_o a_o treaty_n with_o they_o in_o a_o solemn_a covenant_n which_o treaty_n be_v now_o solemn_o ratify_v by_o both_o kingdom_n yet_o this_o must_v be_v call_v a_o invasion_n when_o they_o be_v last_o in_o the_o kingdom_n if_o they_o will_v have_v join_v with_o that_o army_n to_o have_v come_v up_o against_o the_o parliament_n they_o may_v have_v have_v very_o large_a condition_n but_o that_o be_v now_o forget_v the_o offer_n that_o be_v then_o make_v to_o they_o i_o believe_v you_o have_v hear_v of_o already_o which_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o four_o northern_a county_n former_o esteem_v their_o ancient_a bound_n that_o they_o shall_v have_v three_o hundred_o thousand_o pound_n in_o money_n pay_v they_o down_o at_o newcastle_n that_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o plunder_v of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n and_o that_o all_o manner_n of_o grace_n or_o honour_n that_o his_o majesty_n can_v bestow_v upon_o particular_a person_n this_o be_v that_o which_o those_o that_o have_v be_v in_o scotland_n know_v be_v then_o send_v by_o way_n of_o proposition_n by_o sir_n john_n hinderson_n who_o be_v now_o at_o oxford_n they_o than_o reject_v those_o with_o scorn_n and_o do_v refuse_v to_o make_v a_o invasion_n upon_o this_o parliament_n but_o keep_v true_a and_o faithful_a to_o the_o parliament_n and_o upon_o this_o experience_n the_o parliament_n think_v fit_a to_o make_v use_n of_o they_o again_o against_o the_o public_a danger_n against_o the_o ruin_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n which_o be_v threan_v in_o all_o his_o majesty_n three_o dominion_n and_o therefore_o as_o for_o that_o point_n though_o for_o the_o present_a we_o can_v give_v you_o the_o full_a and_o large_a declaration_n as_o hereafter_o will_v come_v forth_o from_o both_o house_n yet_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o acquaint_v you_o with_o thus_o much_o that_o you_o may_v not_o be_v amaze_v by_o any_o such_o print_a paper_n as_o these_o be_v here_o be_v a_o second_o paper_n in_o the_o form_n likewise_o of_o a_o proclamation_n whereby_o you_o shall_v see_v the_o unevennesse_n and_o unsteddinesse_n of_o his_o majesty_n counsel_n at_o least_o in_o appearance_n for_o though_o they_o be_v steady_a and_o unite_a in_o that_o which_o be_v to_o bring_v destruction_n and_o ruin_n upon_o the_o parliament_n and_o kingdom_n yet_o you_o may_v see_v they_o halt_v in_o their_o expression_n before_o you_o be_v call_v a_o famous_a city_n you_o have_v deserve_v so_o well_o and_o have_v all_o encouragement_n offer_v you_o here_o on_o the_o contrary_a you_o shall_v see_v what_o language_n be_v give_v you_o and_o because_o the_o welfare_n of_o this_o city_n consist_v much_o in_o the_o residence_n of_o this_o parliament_n and_o court_n of_o justice_n that_o be_v here_o and_o of_o such_o person_n of_o quality_n as_o be_v necessary_o attendant_a thereupon_o it_o be_v not_o now_o only_o think_v fit_a to_o call_v away_o the_o parliament_n from_o you_o but_o the_o court_n of_o justice_n that_o so_o you_o may_v be_v leave_v a_o miserable_a confuse_a city_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o fair_a word_n and_o promise_n that_o have_v be_v give_v you_o by_o the_o king_n a_o proclamation_n for_o the_o remove_n of_o the_o court_n of_o kings-bench_n and_o of_o the_o exchequer_n from_o westminster_n to_o oxford_n whereas_o the_o sole_a power_n of_o appoint_v the_o place_n or_o place_n in_o which_o our_o great_a court_n of_o justice_n shall_v be_v keep_v and_o of_o remove_v they_o from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o as_o urgent_a occasion_n shall_v move_v we_o by_o the_o law_n of_o this_o kingdom_n be_v inherent_a in_o our_o royal_a person_n and_o whereas_o it_o be_v of_o great_a importance_n to_o our_o service_n in_o these_o time_n of_o difficulty_n and_o distraction_n to_o have_v our_o judge_n of_o our_o say_a court_n to_o attend_v near_o unto_o we_o by_o who_o advice_n we_o may_v the_o better_o proceed_v in_o in_o all_o those_o case_n wherein_o the_o judgement_n and_o knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n be_v require_v and_o whereas_o more_o especial_o the_o chancellor_n or_o lord_n keeper_n of_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n and_o the_o judge_n of_o our_o court_n call_v the_o kings-bench_n be_v and_o be_v to_o follow_v the_o king_n and_o our_o court_n of_o exchequer_n be_v the_o proper_a court_n of_o our_o revenue_n aught_o to_o attend_v we_o as_o we_o shall_v appoint_v and_o whereas_o our_o city_n of_o london_n and_o westminster_n have_v be_v and_o yet_o be_v the_o chief_a causer_n and_o maintainer_n of_o this_o present_a rebellion_n against_o vs._n and_o we_o take_v into_o our_o serious_a consideration_n that_o while_o our_o court_n of_o kings-bench_n common-plea_n and_o of_o our_o exchequer_n be_v keep_v at_o westminster_n many_o of_o our_o good_a and_o loyal_a subject_n may_v be_v compel_v or_o enjoin_v by_o process_n in_o our_o name_n to_o make_v their_o appearance_n there_o which_o they_o can_v not_o do_v without_o hazard_n of_o imprisonment_n or_o other_o damage_n or_o violence_n from_o the_o fomentor_n of_o this_o rebellion_n and_o many_o may_v suffer_v prejudice_n by_o verdict_n and_o judgement_n have_v and_o obtain_v against_o they_o by_o default_n or_o otherwise_o when_o they_o can_v not_o with_o safety_n come_v to_o make_v their_o just_a defence_n thereupon_o we_o do_v re●olve_v to_o remove_v those_o court_n from_o westminster_n to_o our_o city_n of_o oxford_n whether_o other_o of_o our_o court_n of_o justice_n have_v be_v and_o be_v already_o remove_v by_o our_o former_a proclamation_n and_o to_o the_o end_n that_o there_o may_v not_o be_v any_o prejudice_n to_o any_o of_o our_o subject_n by_o discontinuance_n of_o their_o suit_n in_o those_o court_n or_o otherwise_o we_o do_v send_v our_o several_a writ_n of_o adjournment_n direct_v to_o our_o judge_n of_o our_o say_a court_n of_o kings-bench_n and_o common-plea_n and_o to_o our_o baron_n of_o our_o exchequer_n thereby_o command_v and_o give_v warrant_n and_o authority_n to_o they_o respective_o to_o adjourn_v all_o plea_n and_o process_n depend_v before_o they_o in_o and_z from_o the_o two_o and_o twenty_o day_n of_o november_n last_o pass_v to_o the_o first_o return_n of_o hillary_n term_n next_o common_o call_v octabis_n hillary_n to_o be_v hold_v then_o at_o our_o city_n of_o oxford_n but_o our_o messenger_n send_v with_o those_o writ_n as_o we_o have_v be_v inform_v for_o no_o other_o cause_n
