necessary_a emergency_n or_o expression_n of_o the_o good_a or_o evil_a of_o the_o thing_n it_o command_v or_o forbid_v it_o be_v invariable_a and_o in_o these_o thing_n there_o be_v a_o agreement_n good_a conscience_n herein_o will_v find_v themselves_o fit_v for_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o day_n to_o a_o good_a success_n §_o 13_o for_o these_o preparatory_a duty_n themselves_o i_o shall_v refer_v they_o to_o three_o head_n if_o the_o reader_n will_v take_v along_o with_o he_o these_o advertisement_n 1._o that_o i_o be_o not_o bind_v burden_n on_o man_n or_o their_o conscience_n nor_o tie_v they_o up_o unto_o strict_a observance_n under_o the_o consideration_n of_o sin_n if_o not_o precise_o attend_v unto_o only_o i_o desire_v to_o give_v direction_n such_o as_o may_v be_v helpful_a unto_o the_o faith_n and_o obedience_n of_o those_o who_o in_o all_o thing_n desire_v to_o please_v god_n and_o if_o they_o apply_v themselves_o to_o those_o way_n in_o other_o instance_n which_o they_o find_v more_o to_o their_o own_o edification_n all_o be_v do_v that_o i_o aim_v at_o 2._o that_o i_o propose_v not_o these_o duty_n as_o those_o which_o fall_v under_o a_o especial_a command_n with_o reference_n unto_o this_o season_n but_o only_o as_o such_o which_o be_v command_v in_o themselves_o may_v with_o good_a spiritual_a advantage_n be_v apply_v unto_o this_o season_n whence_o it_o follow_v 3._o that_o if_o we_o be_v by_o necessary_a occasion_n at_o any_o time_n divert_v from_o attend_v unto_o they_o we_o may_v conclude_v that_o we_o have_v lose_v a_o opportunity_n or_o advantage_n not_o that_o we_o have_v contract_v the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n unless_o it_o be_v from_o the_o occasion_n itself_o or_o some_o of_o its_o circumstance_n §_o 14_o these_o thing_n premise_v i_o shall_v recommend_v to_o the_o godly_a reader_n a_o threefold_a preparatory_a duty_n to_o the_o right_a observation_n of_o a_o day_n of_o holy_a rest_n unto_o the_o lord_n 1_o of_o meditation_n 2_o of_o supplication_n 3_o of_o instruction_n unto_o such_o as_o have_v other_o depend_v on_o they_o 1_o of_o meditation_n and_o this_o answer_n particular_o the_o reason_n we_o have_v give_v for_o the_o necessity_n of_o these_o preparatory_a duty_n for_o herein_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o believer_n to_o exercise_v themselves_o unto_o such_o thought_n of_o the_o majesty_n holiness_n and_o greatness_n of_o god_n as_o may_v prepare_v they_o to_o serve_v he_o with_o reverence_n and_o godly_a fear_n the_o nature_n of_o the_o duty_n require_v that_o this_o meditation_n shall_v first_o respect_v god_n himself_o and_o then_o the_o day_n and_o its_o service_n in_o its_o cause_n and_o ends._n god_n
