make_v we_o partaker_n of_o his_o truth_n wherein_o consist_v our_o whole_a felicity_n and_o welfare_n for_o if_o we_o wax_v cold_a &_o make_v no_o account_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n we_o be_v not_o worthy_a that_o he_o shall_v give_v we_o the_o least_o taste_n thereof_o and_o for_o this_o cause_n we_o must_v not_o marvel_v much_o though_o so_o small_a a_o number_n at_o this_o day_n have_v profit_v in_o the_o scripture_n although_o every_o man_n desire_v to_o be_v praise_v and_o esteem_v amongst_o man_n to_o be_v very_o able_a and_o sufficient_a yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o see_v redound_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v give_v ourselves_o unto_o it_o we_o see_v then_o that_o david_n have_v no_o regard_n to_o himself_o but_o mean_v rather_o to_o give_v we_o occasion_n to_o glorify_v god_n and_o beside_o his_o purpose_n be_v to_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o the_o love_n as_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v which_o he_o have_v to_o the_o word_n we_o and_o so_o have_v thereby_o such_o a_o clear_a light_n as_o that_o will_v never_o fail_v we_o that_o we_o be_v fence_v against_o all_o the_o ambush_n of_o satan_n and_o against_o all_o the_o villainy_n and_o deceit_n of_o the_o world_n if_o then_o we_o be_v thus_o thorough_o persuade_v that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v sufficient_a against_o all_o this_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o we_o shall_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o in_o love_n without_o all_o comparison_n with_o the_o study_n thereof_o then_o now_o we_o be_v and_o therefore_o let_v we_o well_o record_n this_o with_o the_o wicked_a which_o seek_v nothing_o but_o our_o destruction_n when_o as_o we_o do_v think_v that_o we_o shall_v perish_v every_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n yet_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v guard_v from_o all_o whatsoever_o that_o they_o may_v any_o way_n attempt_n and_o privy_o lie_v in_o wait_n against_o we_o so_o that_o we_o be_v instruct_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n lo_o say_v i_o a_o inestimable_a treasure_n but_o we_o must_v consider_v who_o they_o be_v that_o be_v our_o enemy_n for_o we_o have_v not_o only_o to_o do_v with_o man_n which_o seek_v our_o hurt_n dishonour_n or_o that_o which_o may_v grieve_v we_o as_o touch_v this_o present_a life_n but_o we_o have_v satan_n and_o all_o his_o favourer_n and_o maintainer_n which_o be_v deadly_a enemy_n too_o our_o soul_n who_o seek_v nothing_o else_o but_o our_o destruction_n yea_o not_o only_o as_o concern_v the_o world_n

consider_v thy_o testimony_n after_o that_o david_n have_v make_v such_o protestation_n he_o commit_v himself_o to_o god_n even_o declare_v that_o he_o have_v seek_v his_o commandment_n and_o so_o he_o speak_v not_o only_o of_o the_o time_n past_a but_o remain_v always_o constant_a in_o this_o purpose_n now_o we_o have_v here_o to_o consider_v of_o three_o point_n the_o one_o be_v the_o request_n which_o david_n make_v to_o god_n o_o save_v i_o the_o second_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o he_o desire_v god_n to_o save_v he_o because_o say_v he_o i_o be_o thou_o and_o afterward_o he_o show_v how_o he_o be_v god_n that_o be_v for_o i_o say_v he_o have_v seek_v thy_o commandment_n and_o thus_o we_o see_v in_o the_o first_o place_n how_o god_n offer_v himself_o unto_o we_o and_o that_o he_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o hold_v we_o in_o his_o protection_n to_o have_v care_n of_o our_o salvation_n yea_o so_o that_o we_o come_v unto_o he_o after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n and_o i_o beseech_v you_o what_o privilege_n be_v this_o that_o we_o have_v such_o liberty_n to_o come_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o commit_v ourselves_o into_o his_o hand_n whether_o we_o wake_v a_o whit_n think_v of_o this_o as_o may_v well_o be_v see_v by_o our_o slackness_n and_o weariness_n in_o prayer_n to_o god_n at_o this_o day_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o it_o be_v not_o without_o the_o issue_n thereof_o be_v both_o good_a and_o healthful_a and_o this_o be_v not_o do_v save_o only_a to_o such_o as_o be_v true_o the_o possession_n and_o inheritance_n of_o god_n and_o his_o true_a household_n servant_n and_o child_n will_v we_o have_v god_n then_o to_o receive_v we_o into_o his_o protection_n and_o to_o be_v our_o protector_n will_v we_o have_v he_o to_o take_v care_n and_o charge_n both_o of_o our_o soul_n and_o body_n let_v we_o first_o be_v he_o and_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v he_o forsooth_o we_o must_v come_v to_o the_o three_o point_n to_o wit_n to_o seek_v his_o testimony_n loe_o then_o how_o god_n will_v take_v we_o for_o his_o possession_n for_o he_o even_o then_o allow_v we_o for_o his_o child_n when_o as_o we_o put_v our_o whole_a trust_n in_o he_o see_v that_o he_o have_v so_o familiar_o call_v and_o bid_v we_o and_o have_v certify_v we_o by_o his_o word_n that_o he_o will_v never_o forsake_v us._n if_o then_o we_o so_o seek_v the_o testimony_n destroy_v we_o yet_o let_v we_o fasten_v our_o eye_n upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n attend_v upon_o it_o and_o therein_o persevere_v unto_o the_o end_n now_o for_o conclusion_n david_n add_v i_o which_o david_n here_o set_v down_o o_o turn_n from_o i_o rebuke_v to_o wit_n suffer_v i_o not_o o_o lord_n to_o be_v light_o esteem_v of_o man_n because_o i_o have_v keep_v thy_o testimony_n we_o see_v then_o that_o the_o sum_n of_o this_o verse_n be_v this_o that_o david_n desire_v god_n to_o uphold_v and_o maintain_v his_o purity_n now_o the_o cause_n be_v incontinent_o add_v for_o prince_n puppet_n of_o s._n agatha_n or_o some_o other_o saint_n as_o if_o it_o be_v too_o god_n now_o this_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o beastly_a to_o profane_v the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o i_o keep_v thy_o law_n for_o the_o word_n which_o david_n use_v import_v mere_a favour_n and_o free_a gift_n as_o if_o the_o shall_v have_v say_v it_o come_v of_o thy_o mere_a favour_n and_o grace_n that_o thou_o give_v i_o thy_o law_n see_v here_o the_o remedy_n which_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n use_v when_o he_o will_v withdraw_v we_o from_o the_o law_n of_o lie_v to_o wit_n that_o we_o shall_v keep_v his_o truth_n for_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n be_v sufficient_o able_a to_o encounter_v all_o the_o subtlety_n and_o sly_a practice_n of_o satan_n to_o withstand_v all_o temptation_n and_o to_o vanquishe_v and_o overcome_v all_o the_o lust_n of_o our_o flesh_n the_o truth_n of_o god_n then_o will_v suffice_v against_o all_o this_o and_o this_o be_v it_o which_o saint_n paul_n speak_v of_o etc._n ephe._n 6.10.11_o 12_o etc._n etc._n that_o when_o we_o shall_v be_v stir_v doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v wherewithal_o too_o be_v justy_a and_o as_o we_o be_v fast_o shut_v up_o we_o can_v once_o stir_v out_o of_o the_o place_n to_o go_v on_o forward_o in_o the_o way_n of_o salvation_n and_o how_o can_v we_o then_o run_v when_o as_o he_o shall_v have_v set_v our_o heart_n at_o liberty_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v so_o dispose_v &_o order_v we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v free_o bend_v ourselves_o &_o sully_v &_o whole_o yield_v our_o affection_n unto_o he_o for_o otherwise_o we_o have_v our_o heart_n fast_o shut_v up_o shall_v always_o become_v the_o bondslave_n of_o sin_n it_o be_v very_o true_a hat_n while_o we_o from_o a_o great_a number_n of_o disquietness_n but_o yet_o god_n will_v always_o unburden_v we_o of_o they_o as_o it_o be_v say_v in_o a_o other_o place_n of_o the_o psalm_n that_o when_o we_o have_v be_v for_o a_o while_n fast_o shut_v up_o yet_o god_n will_v set_v we_o at_o liberty_n as_o also_o saint_n paul_n say_v in_o the_o second_o to_o the_o corinth_n it_o be_v very_o true_a say_v he_o that_o we_o be_v oppress_v with_o many_o torment_n and_o grief_n but_o yet_o we_o continue_v not_o in_o sorrow_n and_o pain_n for_o god_n will_v always_o deliver_v we_o and_o will_v give_v we_o a_o good_a and_o joyful_a issue_n so_o that_o in_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o overcome_v they_o see_v then_o what_o be_v declare_v unto_o we_o in_o this_o place_n where_o it_o be_v say_v i_o will_v walk_v at_o liberty_n o_o lord_n because_o i_o seek_v thy_o commandment_n even_o so_o let_v we_o know_v that_o when_o our_o life_n be_v miserable_a and_o wretched_a and_o that_o we_o must_v they_o the_o way_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n have_v foil_v the_o wicked_a and_o despiser_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o law_n the_o scorner_n of_o his_o hope_n and_o the_o blasphemer_n of_o god_n yet_o be_v he_o able_a i_o say_v too_o beat_v they_o back_o and_o make_v his_o part_n good_a against_o they_o all_o and_o this_o matter_n he_o manifest_o declare_v whereas_o he_o say_v i_o will_v speak_v of_o thy_o testimony_n because_o god_n shall_v no_o more_o take_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n out_o of_o his_o mouth_n now_o beside_o this_o that_o god_n give_v untoo_o we_o matter_n whereof_o to_o speak_v free_o yet_o must_v that_o come_v from_o he_o as_o we_o hear_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v speak_v off_o that_o it_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o guide_v our_o tongue_n that_o it_o come_v not_o of_o ourselves_o to_o be_v able_a to_o answer_v our_o enemy_n that_o there_o need_v but_o a_o small_a gale_n of_o wind_n to_o overthrow_v us._n so_o then_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o god_n shall_v use_v his_o power_n that_o we_o may_v be_v confirm_v by_o he_o for_o when_o as_o he_o shall_v put_v his_o word_n in_o our_o mouth_n we_o may_v speak_v before_o king_n and_o prince_n and_o never_o be_v ashamed_a as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n thy_o word_n ought_v to_o be_v of_o such_o power_n unto_o we_o as_o that_o we_o may_v foil_v our_o enenemye_n yea_o papist_n strive_v most_o about_o that_o we_o must_v not_o assure_v ourselves_o when_o we_o pray_v unto_o god_n that_o he_o hear_v we_o but_o remain_v in_o suspense_n forsooth_o but_o the_o scripture_n and_o a_o commendable_a presumption_n that_o when_o we_o stay_v ourselves_o upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o set_v down_o in_o sum_n that_o he_o will_v accomplish_v that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v we_o for_o we_o hold_v he_o as_o one_o bind_v unto_o we_o not_o that_o he_o be_v any_o thing_n in_o our_o debt_n but_o because_o that_o of_o his_o mere_a liberality_n he_o stoop_v so_o low_a as_o to_o declare_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o will_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v this_o liberty_n and_o leave_n to_o present_v ourselves_o so_o before_o he_o with_o such_o boldness_n and_o assurance_n as_o already_o i_o have_v declare_v and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o second_o verse_n in_o the_o third_o it_o follow_v i_o have_v consider_v my_o own_o way_n and_o turn_v my_o foot_n unto_o thy_o testimony_n this_o protestation_n be_v worth_a the_o note_n for_o we_o be_v admonish_v why_o it_o be_v that_o man_n so_o great_o flatter_v themselves_o in_o their_o own_o folly_n and_o device_n and_o make_v themselves_o believe_v that_o they_o will_v make_v their_o prayer_n unto_o god_n albeit_o they_o rest_v not_o upon_o he_o trust_v not_o unto_o he_o neither_o yet_o follow_v that_o which_o he_o above_o all_o i_o must_v do_v thus_o much_o as_o that_o god_n be_v not_o disappoint_v of_o the_o soveraintie_n which_o he_o have_v over_o he_o so_o then_o when_o as_o man_n look_v well_o to_o their_o way_n it_o be_v very_o certain_a and_o sure_a that_o they_o will_v whole_o give_v themselves_o to_o follow_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therein_o take_v all_o their_o delight_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o he_o say_v on_o the_o contrary_a part_n that_o he_o will_v turn_v his_o foot_n too_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n wherein_o he_o show_v too_o all_o man_n by_o his_o example_n that_o they_o shall_v walk_v as_o god_n have_v command_v they_o and_o not_o too_o be_v rule_v after_o their_o own_o head_n and_o brain_n for_o see_v from_o whence_o this_o madness_n come_v which_o possess_v as_o it_o be_v all_o the_o whole_a world_n that_o every_o man_n will_v serve_v god_n as_o he_o think_v best_o it_o be_v because_o we_o turn_v not_o our_o foot_n unto_o his_o testimony_n now_o we_o ought_v loe_o there_o must_v we_o place_v and_o set_v ourselves_o we_o must_v never_o hereafter_o make_v any_o more_o question_n too_o wander_v any_o long_o and_o to_o discourse_n and_o say_v why_o shall_v not_o this_o be_v good_a and_o commendable_a no_o forsooth_o not_o so_o let_v not_o we_o follow_v our_o own_o fantasy_n neither_o let_v we_o be_v wise_a in_o our_o own_o conceit_n but_o let_v we_o consider_v with_o ourselves_o to_o hear_v our_o god_n and_o obey_v he_o lo_o then_o the_o effect_n of_o this_o third_o verse_n where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o david_n look_v unto_o his_o way_n and_o that_o he_o turn_v his_o foot_n to_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n to_o the_o law_n where_o god_n have_v declare_v his_o will_n now_o he_o add_v i_o make_v haste_n and_o prolong_v not_o the_o time_n to_o keep_v thy_o commandment_n he_o continue_v his_o purpose_n but_o he_o show_v that_o this_o his_o affection_n be_v not_o slow_a i_o make_v haste_n say_v he_o yea_o and_o that_o without_o delay_n now_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o david_n put_v to_o this_o for_o we_o see_v how_o straight_o we_o ought_v too_o deal_v against_o our_o own_o appetite_n yea_o even_o they_o i_o say_v who_o be_v best_a affect_v to_o serve_v god_n do_v yet_o come_v as_o it_o be_v halt_v trail_a either_o a_o arm_n or_o a_o leg_n after_o they_o as_o we_o common_o say_v and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n hereof_o we_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o such_o a_o number_n of_o corruption_n as_o that_o the_o very_a weight_n of_o they_o make_v we_o to_o go_v exceed_o slow_o so_o that_o we_o have_v much_o to_o do_v to_o go_v on_o and_o we_o know_v and_o have_v too_o too_o great_a experience_n how_o weak_a our_o nature_n be_v when_o as_o we_o intend_v to_o do_v well_o let_v we_o then_o understand_v and_o know_v these_o two_o thing_n and_o we_o shall_v never_o think_v it_o strange_a that_o we_o be_v so_o slow_a and_o slack_a to_o follow_v god_n as_o in_o deed_n we_o be_v yea_o even_o these_o two_o thing_n i_o say_v for_o behold_v satan_n will_v never_o cease_v crafty_o to_o go_v about_o to_o imagine_v whatsoever_o he_o possible_o can_v to_o cause_v we_o to_o draw_v back_o he_o will_v set_v bar_n and_o pitch_n hayes_n before_o we_o he_o will_v lay_v bush_n thorn_n and_o evil_a favour_v stumble_v block_n whatsoever_o which_v any_o way_n may_v hinder_v and_o let_v we_o that_o if_o we_o mean_v to_o march_v on_o but_o only_o three_o pace_n we_o shall_v be_v violent_o carry_v away_o to_o turn_v on_o this_o side_n and_o on_o that_o not_o know_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o us._n again_o we_o shall_v be_v solicit_v and_o move_v by_o our_o inordinate_a appetite_n to_o draw_v we_o clean_o awry_o for_o if_o we_o will_v whole_o put_v our_o trust_n in_o god_n the_o devil_n will_v draw_v we_o too_o the_o contrary_a and_o make_v we_o to_o give_v ourselves_o up_o too_o this_o worldly_a pelf_n and_o so_o consequent_o to_o all_o the_o rest_n see_v then_o that_o we_o be_v draw_v and_o hale_v with_o so_o many_o cart_n rope_n yea_o and_o be_v of_o ourselves_o so_o feeble_a to_o do_v good_a even_o burn_v after_o wickedness_n alas_o no_o marvel_n though_o we_o be_v slow_a too_o follow_v god_n but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o must_v need_v fight_v it_o be_v no_o question_n but_o that_o we_o flatter_v ourselves_o when_o as_o we_o see_v such_o slackness_n in_o ourselves_o and_o say_v in_o deed_n it_o be_v very_o true_a such_o be_v the_o state_n &_o condition_n of_o our_o nature_n and_o again_o our_o infirmity_n be_v so_o great_a as_o that_o it_o be_v a_o impossible_a thing_n for_o any_o man_n too_o discharge_v
to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o be_v conformable_a to_o he_o and_o to_o his_o word_n let_v it_o not_o now_o abash_v we_o although_o we_o feel_v so_o little_a taste_n of_o god_n his_o mercy_n and_o why_o so_o for_o what_o be_v he_o that_o will_v acknowledge_v it_o we_o be_v so_o beguile_v with_o these_o false_a deceit_n of_o the_o world_n that_o we_o think_v we_o may_v triumph_n by_o they_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v exceed_o bless_a when_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v all_o thing_n after_o our_o own_o heart_n desire_v but_o in_o thus_o do_v we_o can_v contemn_v god_n and_o his_o grace_n we_o must_v not_o then_o be_v abash_v if_o we_o be_v set_v beside_o that_o which_o appertain_v to_o our_o salvation_n and_o that_o god_n suffer_v we_o to_o languish_v in_o wretchedness_n and_o misery_n and_o so_o let_v we_o learn_v after_o the_o example_n of_o david_n to_o be_v as_o it_o be_v reject_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v as_o it_o be_v estrange_v from_o it_o to_o crave_v in_o good_a earnest_n to_o cause_v his_o mercy_n to_o return_v unto_o we_o to_o wit_n that_o he_o will_v grant_v we_o this_o grace_n to_o let_v we_o in_o such_o sort_n understand_v what_o need_n we_o have_v of_o neither_o will_v the_o time_n suffer_v we_o to_o stay_v any_o long_o upon_o it_o it_o shall_v therefore_o suffice_v we_o for_o this_o time_n that_o faith_n only_o be_v the_o thing_n which_o bring_v we_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o humility_n when_o as_o we_o know_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o we_o but_o wickedness_n and_o that_o we_o be_v thereto_o tie_v by_o the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n when_o i_o say_v that_o the_o faithful_a know_v this_o it_o pull_v down_o their_o high_a mind_n they_o be_v no_o more_o arrogant_a nor_o presumptuous_a to_o lift_v themselves_o up_o against_o god_n and_o their_o neighbour_n contrariwyse_o the_o wicked_a and_o enemy_n of_o god_n be_v call_v proud_a for_o the_o pride_n which_o they_o use_v against_o god_n engender_v also_o cruelty_n against_o their_o neighbour_n as_o many_o as_o will_v humble_v themselves_o before_o god_n will_v also_o be_v very_o gentle_a too_o their_o neighbour_n but_o they_o which_o have_v a_o fierce_a and_o high_a mind_n to_o stand_v against_o god_n must_v needs_o likewise_o cast_v their_o poison_n against_o their_o neighbour_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n david_n say_v let_v the_o proud_a o_o lord_n be_v confound_v for_o they_o go_v wicked_o about_o to_o confound_v i_o whereby_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o although_o the_o wicked_a vex_v and_o grieve_v we_o never_o so_o injurious_o and_o without_o cause_n yet_o we_o be_v thereby_o teach_v to_o have_v the_o rather_o a_o great_a deal_n more_o trust_n that_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n upon_o us._n and_o why_o so_o because_o it_o blockishe_a and_o earthly_a it_o be_v meet_v that_o he_o shall_v so_o plain_o speak_v as_o that_o we_o may_v understand_v he_o nevertheless_o in_o this_o speech_n which_o carry_v no_o great_a glory_n with_o it_o ne_o yet_o be_v colour_v with_o any_o worldly_a eloquence_n be_v certain_a secret_n which_o may_v very_o well_o ravish_v we_o with_o marvelous_a astonishment_n and_o in_o deed_n the_o very_a cause_n why_o these_o faithless_a and_o comtemner_n of_o god_n so_o little_a esteem_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o salvation_n be_v for_o that_o they_o be_v brutish_a never_o taste_v of_o that_o which_o it_o mean_v to_o utter_v see_v then_o whereupon_o this_o pride_n and_o ungodliness_n arise_v which_o we_o see_v at_o this_o day_n too_o be_v in_o the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o world_n so_o that_o there_o be_v very_o few_o which_o bear_v that_o reverence_n to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o they_o ought_v for_o it_o be_v a_o old_a say_n no_o man_n can_v love_v a_o thing_n before_o such_o time_n as_o he_o know_v it_o they_o then_o which_o be_v so_o blockish_a as_o that_o they_o have_v neither_o sense_n nor_o judgement_n right_o to_o discern_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n slip_v it_o over_o yea_o and_o tread_v such_o a_o inestimable_a treasure_n as_o it_o be_v under_o their_o foot_n but_o they_o which_o have_v once_o know_v what_o it_o be_v that_o god_n teach_v we_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n may_v very_o well_o say_v with_o david_n that_o they_o be_v wonderful_a thing_n and_o so_o high_a mystery_n as_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o wonder_v at_o they_o &_o do_v deserve_v that_o every_o one_o of_o we_o shall_v whole_o apply_v his_o mind_n thereto_o now_o he_o say_v that_o for_o this_o cause_n his_o soul_n do_v keep_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n this_o import_v a_o these_o contemner_n of_o god_n which_o will_v even_o lift_v they_o velue_v up_o against_o he_o and_o pour_v out_o their_o blasphemy_n &_o be_v it_o meet_v that_o we_o dissemble_v this_o no_o not_o so_o but_o let_v we_o rather_o stir_v up_o ourselves_o to_o groan_v yea_o to_o cry_v out_o with_o a_o loud_a voice_n beseech_v god_n too_o stretch_v forth_o his_o mighty_a and_o strong_a arm_n against_o such_o villain_n &_o fire_n brand_n of_o hell_n such_o upholder_n of_o satan_n which_o thus_o come_v too_o defile_v the_o sacred_a and_o holy_a thing_n of_o god_n which_o his_o majesty_n have_v set_v before_o we_o for_o our_o salvation_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o point_n and_o again_o let_v we_o not_o only_o be_v grieve_v and_o sorrowefull_a because_o there_o be_v in_o we_o rebellious_a affection_n which_o so_o hinder_v we_o as_o that_o we_o can_v take_v any_o such_o taste_n as_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v for_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o also_o when_o as_o we_o see_v that_o man_n so_o light_o esteem_v and_o forget_v this_o word_n of_o god_n that_o they_o outrage_n in_o all_o wickedness_n it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o that_o we_o must_v be_v grieve_v and_o sorrowefull_a for_o the_o same_o and_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o further_a matter_n to_o be_v require_v at_o our_o hand_n which_o be_v this_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v see_v and_o hear_v the_o name_n of_o god_n to_o be_v blaspheme_v and_o his_o majesty_n violate_v we_o shall_v be_v torment_v and_o feel_v a_o great_a grief_n for_o the_o same_o then_o for_o all_o the_o evil_a that_o may_v come_v out_o this_o mortal_a body_n loe_o here_o saint_n paul_n in_o show_v their_o condition_n &_o state_n to_o be_v miserable_a which_o live_v in_o this_o world_n exhort_v they_o to_o groan_v and_o to_o a_o continual_a sorrow_n and_o care_n because_o they_o be_v not_o able_a full_o and_o thorough_o to_o yield_v themselves_o to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n so_o that_o whensoever_o we_o shall_v do_v but_o even_o so_o much_o we_o shall_v render_v a_o true_a proufe_v and_o testimony_n of_o our_o faith_n &_o christianity_n now_o it_o follow_v soon_o after_o thy_o word_n be_v prove_v most_o pure_a and_o thy_o servant_n love_v it_o here_o it_o very_o seem_v as_o we_o have_v before_o say_v that_o david_n bring_v in_o a_o most_o manifest_a sentence_n yea_o know_v even_o unto_o the_o simple_a to_o wit_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v pure_a and_o clean_a without_o spot_n and_o blemish_v but_o what_o let_v we_o see_v a_o little_a whether_o we_o put_v this_o purity_n in_o practice_n or_o not_o alas_o we_o be_v far_o from_o it_o for_o even_o then_o we_o may_v say_v the_o word_n of_o god_n too_o be_v pure_a and_o without_o spot_n when_o as_o without_o any_o gaynesay_n we_o only_o trust_v in_o he_o and_o that_o we_o have_v a_o true_a certainty_n of_o our_o salvation_n because_o he_o have_v once_o stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n unto_o we_o and_o promise_v never_o too_o fail_v us._n when_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o confidence_n in_o god_n that_o we_o may_v bold_o walk_v through_o death_n and_o the_o very_a gulf_n of_o hell_n that_o in_o see_v the_o bottomless_a pit_n open_v too_o swallow_v we_o up_o we_o shall_v not_o doubt_v of_o our_o saufetie_n since_o that_o we_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n lo_o how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v pure_a unto_o us._n but_o now_o be_v we_o all_o in_o a_o clean_a contrary_a vain_a and_o from_o whence_o come_v this_o it_o be_v because_o we_o be_v full_a of_o infinite_a filthiness_n and_o pollution_n to_o be_v short_a there_o be_v nothing_o but_o stench_n in_o we_o and_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v defile_v let_v we_o first_o begin_v at_o our_o eye_n and_o we_o shall_v have_v such_o a_o number_n of_o filthy_a troublesome_a and_o glimpse_a gloating_n to_o wit_n such_o a_o number_n of_o vanity_n which_o hinder_v we_o too_o know_v the_o purity_n that_o be_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o lo_o we_o have_v already_o lose_v one_o of_o our_o sense_n afterward_o we_o be_v deprive_v of_o our_o hear_n because_o our_o ear_n be_v so_o fill_v with_o such_o trifle_a yea_o and_o perverse_a matter_n that_o we_o can_v give_v no_o ear_n unto_o god_n or_o else_o that_o which_o enter_v in_o at_o one_o ear_n go_v out_o at_o another_o as_o we_o say_v now_o if_o this_o be_v already_o a_o great_a vice_n in_o we_o to_o be_v so_o slack_a as_o to_o receive_v but_o one_o good_a lesson_n the_o second_o be_v no_o whit_n less_o that_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v get_v even_o a_o very_a little_a it_o shall_v incontinent_a so_o melt_v away_o from_o we_o as_o that_o we_o shall_v never_o think_v more_o of_o it_o we_o see_v how_o jolly_a and_o frisk_a our_o foot_n and_o hand_n be_v when_o as_o we_o hear_v any_o talk_n of_o ribaldry_n and_o filthiness_n and_o altogether_o dull_a and_o senseless_a when_o any_o speech_n be_v of_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n there_o be_v never_o a_o finger_n in_o our_o hand_n but_o will_v be_v as_o good_a as_o a_o raysour_n to_o cut_v even_o to_o the_o quick_a if_o any_o talk_n shall_v be_v have_v to_o offend_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o we_o shall_v not_o find_v one_o man_n that_o will_v once_o lift_v himself_o up_o too_o do_v any_o good_a see_v how_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v corrupt_a and_o how_o full_a of_o pollution_n and_o filthiness_n and_o this_o be_v it_o which_o hinder_v we_o that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o know_v how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v try_v now_o it_o follow_v i_o be_o small_a and_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v no_o long_o under_o his_o government_n when_o then_o our_o lord_n god_n hold_v we_o in_o a_o low_a estate_n he_o put_v we_o in_o mind_n and_o force_v we_o by_o this_o mean_v not_o to_o forget_v his_o commandment_n and_o to_o walk_v in_o his_o fear_n with_o all_o humility_n but_o david_n his_o meaning_n tend_v to_o another_o end_n that_o be_v although_o he_o be_v as_o it_o be_v contemn_v yet_o cease_v he_o not_o to_o love_v god_n now_o as_o i_o have_v say_v this_o be_v not_o here_o set_v down_o without_o cause_n it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o when_o god_n liberal_o bestow_v upon_o we_o great_a store_n of_o benefit_n then_o be_v we_o so_o blockish_a as_o that_o we_o think_v ourselves_o least_o beholden_a unto_o he_o and_o contrariwise_o they_o upon_o also_o in_o part_n of_o the_o night_n see_v here_o what_o we_o be_v in_o very_a deed_n to_o gather_v out_o of_o this_o place_n but_o first_o we_o must_v mark_v the_o proceed_n of_o david_n for_o after_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o hope_n wherein_o he_o be_v settle_v to_o pray_v untoo_o god_n without_o doubt_v that_o he_o will_v hear_v he_o he_o say_v that_o he_o careful_o meditate_a on_o his_o word_n and_o why_o do_v he_o so_o shall_v that_o which_o be_v necessary_a for_o david_n to_o do_v be_v superfluous_a for_o we_o god_n forbid_v for_o if_o such_o a_o prophet_n as_o he_o have_v need_v too_o arm_n himself_o against_o the_o temptation_n of_o his_o flesh_n against_o the_o infirmity_n wherewith_o he_o may_v be_v assail_v i_o pray_v you_o how_o quick_o shall_v he_o be_v overthrow_v if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o same_o remedy_n which_o we_o use_v and_o the_o courage_n also_o which_o he_o here_o exhort_v we_o unto_o let_v we_o then_o consider_v that_o if_o we_o will_v be_v stay_v upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n because_o we_o will_v call_v upon_o he_o in_o the_o time_n of_o need_n we_o ought_v many_o time_n to_o meditate_v upon_o his_o word_n both_o day_n and_o night_n and_o to_o set_v all_o our_o study_n and_o affection_n therein_o and_o see_v what_o the_o cause_n be_v why_o there_o be_v so_o few_o which_o be_v dispose_v to_o pray_v unto_o god_n yea_o and_o when_o they_o be_v thereto_o enforce_v they_o know_v not_o which_o way_n too_o begin_v because_o they_o can_v he_o full_o resolve_v to_o say_v it_o be_v very_o requisite_a that_o when_o i_o shall_v call_v upon_o my_o good_a god_n that_o i_o be_v full_o assure_v that_o he_o will_v not_o refuse_v to_o hear_v i_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o this_o uncertainty_n it_o be_v because_o they_o be_v not_o well_o acquaint_v with_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n for_o a_o man_n will_v think_v that_o it_o be_v even_o enough_o slight_o and_o light_o to_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v hear_v those_o that_o be_v he_o and_o when_o we_o come_v to_o prayer_n with_o this_o thought_n we_o think_v that_o if_o we_o have_v say_v but_o a_o word_n or_o two_o that_o it_o be_v too_o much_o yea_o and_o if_o we_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n and_o hear_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n speak_v of_o we_o think_v it_o by_o and_o by_o too_o be_v a_o unprofitable_a speech_n and_o will_v say_v that_o it_o be_v more_o than_o need_v for_o what_o be_v he_o that_o understand_v not_o that_o well_o enough_o and_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n behold_v a_o mighty_a great_a temptation_n like_v unto_o a_o boisterous_a whirlwind_n and_o tempest_n even_o at_o hand_n and_o then_o he_o which_o think_v himself_o so_o able_a a_o man_n be_v become_v a_o very_a milksop_n he_o will_v look_v whether_o god_n will_v have_v pity_n of_o he_o he_o will_v possible_o imagine_v that_o he_o have_v turn_v his_o back_n yea_o or_o else_o he_o will_v doubt_v of_o his_o providence_n whether_o he_o have_v any_o care_n of_o the_o world_n or_o no_o there_o be_v a_o thousand_o fantasy_n which_o the_o devil_n go_v about_o to_o put_v in_o our_o mind_n and_o when_o we_o be_v in_o this_o case_n see_v we_o be_v so_o astonish_v as_o that_o there_o be_v no_o come_n for_o we_o too_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n it_o be_v because_o we_o have_v not_o be_v careful_a to_o meditate_v upon_o his_o promise_n and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v so_o much_o the_o more_o thorough_o to_o consider_v of_o this_o lesson_n when_o as_o it_o be_v say_v that_o david_n his_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night_n watch_v too_o meditate_v upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n let_v we_o now_o compare_v ourselves_o with_o he_o but_o it_o be_v so_o far_o of_o that_o any_o of_o we_o in_o particular_a have_v this_o care_n whereof_o mention_n be_v here_o make_v as_o that_o we_o can_v by_o any_o mean_v possible_a be_v train_v unto_o it_o and_o although_o god_n bid_v we_o to_o come_v unto_o he_o yet_o can_v we_o be_v bring_v to_o come_v any_o thing_n near_o he_o see_v how_o the_o bell_n shall_v ring_v every_o day_n to_o move_v we_o to_o come_v to_o the_o sermon_n god_n there_o tell_v we_o of_o his_o will_n he_o declare_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o receive_v we_o to_o his_o mercy_n as_o often_o as_o we_o shall_v call_v upon_o he_o now_o every_o of_o we_o may_v very_o well_o see_v that_o we_o pass_v not_o of_o his_o help_n one_o minute_n of_o a_o hour_n and_o yet_o how_o many_o be_v there_o notwithstanding_o which_o will_v vouchsafe_v too_o step_v one_o foot_n too_o come_v to_o occupy_v themselves_o about_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n that_o their_o memory_n may_v be_v refresh_v in_o they_o to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v so_o much_o the_o better_o be_v remember_v of_o they_o nay_o we_o shall_v sarce_o have_v a_o number_n of_o they_o come_v to_o it_o on_o the_o sunday_n yea_o and_o if_o percase_o they_o come_v once_o they_o think_v it_o too_o be_v as_o it_o be_v over_o much_o and_o forsooth_o they_o must_v not_o come_v thither_o neither_o every_o sunday_n because_o their_o ear_n will_v be_v over_o much_o fill_v with_o noise_n and_o again_o such_o as_o do_v come_v too_o it_o with_o what_o affection_n come_v they_o think_v you_o very_o because_o that_o they_o can_v deny_v but_o that_o there_o must_v be_v one_o day_n in_o the_o week_n for_o they_o to_o meet_v together_o and_o beside_o they_o will_v for_o once_o come_v thither_o but_o it_o shall_v be_v to_o sleep_v so_o that_o they_o understand_v and_o carry_v away_o asmuch_o as_o these_o pillar_n or_o else_o the_o stole_n whereon_o they_o sit_v loe_o here_o how_o a_o great_a number_n of_o the_o people_n come_v to_o the_o sermon_n yea_o and_o there_o be_v no_o small_a number_n which_o will_v come_v thither_o even_o to_o mock_v god_n as_o we_o see_v these_o scoffer_n and_o giber_n who_o come_v to_o none_o other_o end_n but_o too_o despite_o he_o bring_v with_o they_o whorish_a and_o shameless_a face_n and_o such_o a_o beastly_a impudency_n as_o can_v be_v great_a all_o this_o we_o see_v now_o let_v we_o consider_v that_o it_o be_v so_o far_o of_o that_o our_o slothfulness_n shall_v be_v excuse_v as_o that_o god_n can_v but_o just_o punish_v we_o in_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v deprive_v of_o the_o ability_n to_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o our_o need_n and_o shall_v have_v our_o mouth_n also_o stop_v and_o afterward_o the_o mischief_n shall_v increase_v daily_o more_o and_o more_o until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o be_v come_v even_o to_o the_o depth_n of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o shall_v be_v utter_o exclude_v from_o the_o help_n of_o our_o good_a god_n that_o he_o will_v retire_v himself_o from_o we_o and_o clear_o banish_v we_o his_o kingdom_n behold_v here_o the_o fruit_n which_o commerh_n by_o our_o negligence_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v make_v no_o account_v of_o the_o exercise_v of_o ourselves_o in_o this_o study_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n now_o david_n add_v hear_v my_o voice_n o_o lord_n at_o according_v unto_o thy_o love_a kindness_n quicken_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o judgement_n here_o david_n declare_v yet_o more_o plain_o upon_o what_o ground_n he_o lay_v his_o foundation_n of_o pray_v unto_o god_n to_o wit_n he_o bring_v no_o kind_n of_o presumption_n with_o he_o think_v to_o make_v account_n of_o this_o or_o that_o and_o so_o to_o be_v think_v very_o worthy_a that_o god_n shall_v hear_v he_o but_o he_o prefer_v the_o goodness_n and_o faithfulness_n of_o god_n above_o all_o his_o own_o woorthiness_n loe_o here_o whereunto_o we_o must_v look_v if_o we_o will_v have_v god_n to_o be_v merciful_a unto_o us._n and_o when_o as_o we_o will_v profit_v ourselves_o by_o our_o prayer_n we_o must_v not_o once_o talk_v of_o bring_v in_o of_o any_o thing_n of_o we_o with_o we_o ne_o yet_o allege_v this_o thing_n nor_o that_o as_o think_v too_o bind_v god_n unto_o we_o for_o some_o good_a turn_n that_o we_o have_v do_v he_o but_o too_o have_v this_o principal_a regard_n with_o we_o god_n be_v good_a and_o faithful_a and_o just_a see_v then_o whereon_o it_o be_v that_o we_o must_v settle_v our_o confidence_n if_o we_o will_v be_v resolve_v that_o he_o will_v hear_v us._n and_o this_o be_v such_o a_o doctrine_n i_o tell_v you_o aswe_v aught_o well_o to_o hold_v and_o keep_v for_o in_o very_a deed_n under_o here_o give_v we_o be_v very_o necessary_a to_o wit_n that_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n be_v true_a as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n i_o have_v already_o say_v that_o thou_o be_v near_o unto_o we_o for_o as_o much_o as_o thou_o see_v we_o to_o be_v persecute_v and_o trouble_v by_o the_o wicked_a and_o how_o they_o come_v upon_o we_o to_o destroy_v we_o and_o that_o thou_o be_v right_a before_o they_o and_o against_o they_o to_o beat_v they_o back_o and_o to_o bear_v their_o blow_n all_o this_o do_v i_o confess_v o_o lord_n but_o yet_o i_o you_o not_o this_o after_o a_o visible_a &_o worldly_a manner_n how_o then_o it_o be_v because_o thy_o commandment_n be_v true_a david_n then_o know_v that_o god_n be_v near_o unto_o he_o because_o he_o settle_v himself_o upon_o the_o law_n and_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v give_v he_o and_o even_o so_o must_v we_o do_v although_o it_o seem_v very_o hard_a as_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v it_o follow_v i_o have_v know_v long_o since_o by_o testimony_n that_o thou_o have_v ground_v they_o for_o ever_o in_o this_o latter_a verse_n for_o a_o conclusion_n david_n say_v that_o he_o be_v not_o like_o a_o novice_n to_o be_v now_o too_o learn_v to_o know_v what_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n be_v but_o he_o be_v resolute_a that_o god_n be_v near_o he_o because_o he_o have_v his_o word_n from_o which_o he_o can_v not_o start_v he_o show_v then_o that_o the_o faithful_a ought_v not_o too_o be_v as_o it_o be_v in_o their_o a._n b._n c._n but_o must_v be_v long_a time_n exercise_v as_o david_n protest_v of_o himself_o i_o have_v know_v they_o say_v he_o long_o since_o now_o here_o he_o set_v down_o a_o word_n which_o signify_v continuance_n from_o the_o beginning_n have_v i_o know_v say_v he_o long_o since_o thy_o commandment_n which_o thou_o haste_v ground_v for_o ever_o so_o then_o let_v we_o learn_v that_o if_o we_o will_v bold_o strive_v against_o all_o the_o assault_n wherewith_o we_o may_v be_v assail_v we_o must_v continue_v in_o this_o knowledge_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o we_o shall_v always_o find_v he_o ready_a to_o be_v near-hand_o we_o so_o that_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a of_o his_o protection_n not_o for_o a_o day_n only_o but_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n and_o so_o let_v we_o thorough_o record_n this_o lesson_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v say_v with_o david_n that_o we_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n so_o deep_o imprint_v in_o our_o heart_n as_o that_o we_o have_v long_o time_n since_o know_v what_o be_v already_o in_o they_o too_o wit_n that_o god_n have_v establish_v they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o although_o we_o shall_v see_v a_o great_a number_n of_o change_n in_o this_o world_n that_o all_o thing_n be_v change_v and_o turn_v yet_o that_o god_n be_v no_o chaungeling_n that_o he_o never_o alter_v his_o mind_n that_o his_o word_n be_v as_o it_o be_v from_o the_o beginning_n and_o as_o it_o shall_v continue_v for_o ever_o that_o it_o shall_v never_o be_v subject_a to_o all_o the_o turn_n and_o change_n of_o this_o world_n but_o shall_v ever_o abide_v in_o his_o full_a strength_n and_o virtue_n because_o that_o god_n have_v establish_v it_o for_o ever_o and_o this_o be_v even_o so_o as_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v prepapare_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v settle_v upon_o the_o true_a confidence_n of_o his_o promise_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v know_v the_o everlasting_a power_n &_o strength_n which_o he_o have_v give_v to_o his_o word_n that_o be_v that_o he_o will_v remain_v always_o like_a unto_o himself_o when_o i_o say_v we_o shall_v have_v know_v this_o we_o may_v bold_o come_v and_o present_v ourselves_o before_o he_o be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v make_v we_o feel_v by_o proof_n that_o which_o he_o promise_v we_o so_o oftentimes_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o trust_v herein_o that_o he_o have_v render_v unto_o we_o a_o testimony_n of_o the_o love_n which_o he_o bear_v us._n now_o let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n and_o father_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o innumerable_a offence_n which_o we_o daily_o commit_v against_o he_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v so_o touch_v we_o as_o that_o in_o steed_n that_o we_o have_v be_v over_o much_o give_v to_o our_o fleshly_a affection_n and_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n that_o now_o we_o seek_v none_o other_o way_n but_o whole_o too_o order_v ourselves_o according_a to_o his_o good_a will_n be_v assure_v that_o although_o we_o be_v feeble_a and_o weak_a yea_o and_o utter_o void_a of_o all_o strength_n so_o that_o we_o can_v stepe_v one_o foot_n forward_o without_o stumble_v or_o else_o in_o go_v backward_o we_o be_v far_o from_o he_o yet_o let_v we_o not_o doubt_n but_o that_o he_o will_v be_v near_o at_o hand_n too_o help_v we_o and_o also_o that_o when_o he_o have_v make_v we_o too_o feel_v his_o help_n that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o that_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v be_v so_o thankful_a unto_o he_o as_o he_o deserve_v desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o too_o glorify_v he_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n for_o so_o many_o his_o benefit_n as_o he_o daily_o give_v we_o and_o liberal_o bestow_v upon_o us._n that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v unto_o we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n etc._n etc._n the_o xx_o sermon_n upon_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n resh_n behold_v my_o affliction_n and_o deliver_v i_o for_o i_o have_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n plead_v my_o cause_n and_o deliver_v i_o quicken_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n salvation_n be_v far_o from_o the_o ungodly_a because_o they_o seek_v not_o thy_o statute_n great_a be_v thy_o tender_a mercy_n o_o lord_n quicken_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o judgement_n many_o there_o be_v that_o trouble_v i_o and_o persecute_v i_o yet_o do_v i_o not_o swerve_v from_o thy_o mean_a while_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v that_o god_n will_v exercise_v we_o with_o diverse_a affliction_n so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n wherefore_o such_o be_v the_o condition_n and_o state_n of_o christian_n so_o long_o as_o they_o shall_v live_v here_o upon_o the_o earth_n that_o be_v they_o must_v strive_v &_o be_v exercise_v with_o diverse_a sort_n of_o grieve_v sometime_o of_o the_o body_n and_o otherwhiles_o of_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o cause_n must_v we_o arm_v ourselves_o to_o the_o end_n we_o be_v not_o overcome_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o conflict_n now_o the_o principal_a piece_n of_o our_o armour_n be_v to_o pray_v un-god_n and_o to_o call_v upon_o he_o to_o help_v us._n and_o to_o bring_v this_o about_o we_o be_v thorough_o to_o consider_v how_o all_o the_o faithful_a which_o live_v long_o before_o our_o time_n proceed_v herein_o too_o the_o end_n we_o may_v order_v ourselves_o after_o their_o example_n as_o in_o this_o text_n here_o we_o see_v how_o david_n be_v even_o extreme_o afflict_v again_o we_o see_v also_o how_o he_o behave_v himself_o in_o all_o his_o affliction_n which_o although_o they_o be_v very_o vehement_a yet_o do_v they_o not_o hinder_v he_o too_o have_v recourse_n untoo_o god_n and_o of_o he_o he_o be_v rescue_v and_o save_v see_v then_o what_o we_o have_v to_o meditate_v upon_o too_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v do_v the_o like_a behold_v my_o affliction_n and_o deliver_v i_o for_o i_o do_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n when_o as_o he_o desire_v god_n to_o look_v unto_o his_o affliction_n it_o be_v even_o the_o same_o which_o we_o have_v already_o say_v too_o wit_n that_o although_o god_n love_v he_o yet_o will_v he_o not_o but_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v subject_a too_o a_o great_a number_n of_o misery_n torment_n and_o grief_n let_v we_o not_o think_v then_o to_o be_v privilege_v so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v to_o walk_v here_o bilowe_a on_o the_o earth_n but_o that_o who_o he_o so_o great_o love_v as_o the_o scripture_n witness_v of_o he_o now_o here_o we_o be_v to_o note_v two_o thing_n the_o one_o be_v that_o when_o david_n desire_v god_n to_o look_v upon_o his_o affliction_n and_o to_o deliver_v he_o out_o of_o they_o he_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v astony_v as_o if_o god_n have_v turn_v his_o back_n upon_o he_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o david_n consider_v not_o of_o all_o that_o be_v too_o be_v consider_v neither_o do_v he_o conclude_v that_o god_n will_v cast_v off_o his_o child_n in_o such_o sort_n but_o yet_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o natural_a reason_n can_v reach_v see_v how_o he_o may_v judge_v of_o his_o estate_n and_o at_o that_o point_n also_o be_v all_o the_o child_n of_o god_n for_o on_o the_o one_o side_n when_o as_o they_o shall_v look_v upon_o their_o own_o state_n and_o condition_n they_o can_v choose_v but_o that_o they_o must_v be_v force_v to_o say_v what_o a_o thing_n be_v this_o sure_o if_o god_n have_v any_o compassion_n upon_o we_o and_o that_o he_o see_v we_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o ever_o we_o shall_v be_v thus_o cruel_o handle_v will_v not_o he_o take_v some_o better_a order_n for_o this_o see_v then_o that_o we_o can_v choose_v but_o to_o conceive_v these_o and_o such_o like_a imagination_n in_o our_o heart_n when_o as_o we_o be_v greeve_v and_o persecute_v and_o look_v into_o our_o own_o present_a estate_n yea_o even_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o can_v choose_v even_o too_o feel_v ourselves_o as_o it_o be_v to_o be_v forsake_v of_o god._n and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o must_v be_v full_o persuade_v and_o resolve_v that_o god_n behold_v we_o and_o although_o it_o seem_v that_o he_o have_v turn_v his_o back_n upon_o we_o yet_o that_o he_o cease_v not_o too_o help_v we_o and_o be_v careful_a for_o our_o salvation_n yea_o and_o though_o we_o see_v nothing_o yet_o let_v we_o hold_v this_o for_o a_o certain_a and_o a_o undoubted_a truth_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o therefore_o so_o often_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v thus_o trouble_v to_o think_v that_o god_n have_v no_o long_a care_n over_o we_o but_o that_o he_o have_v clere_o forsake_v we_o yet_o let_v not_o those_o that_o be_v he_o and_o too_o aid_v they_o in_o all_o their_o necessity_n and_o beside_o this_o must_v be_v our_o sure_a foundation_n that_o his_o promise_n be_v infallible_a and_o that_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v his_o child_n to_o go_v empty_a away_o when_o as_o they_o shall_v tend_v themselves_o thereto_o see_v then_o how_o we_o must_v meditate_v upon_o the_o law_n of_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v upon_o his_o word_n for_o under_o this_o word_n the_o law_n there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o david_n comprehend_v the_o sum_n of_o all_o the_o doctrine_n which_o god_n give_v back_n upon_o we_o or_o that_o he_o have_v close_v up_o his_o eye_n and_o sleep_v and_o as_o a_o man_n will_v say_v never_o think_v more_o of_o us._n now_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o second_o verse_n plead_v my_o cause_n and_o deliver_v i_o quicken_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n here_o david_n express_v what_o this_o his_o affection_n be_v whereof_o he_o have_v speak_v too_o wit_n how_o that_o the_o wicked_a unjust_o persecute_v he_o as_o again_o hereafter_o shall_v more_o at_o large_a be_v declare_v now_o we_o know_v that_o the_o grief_n which_o the_o child_n of_o god_n do_v suffer_v in_o this_o world_n be_v diverse_a and_o sundry_a for_o sometime_o god_n will_v lay_v heavy_a hand_n upon_o they_o without_o any_o man_n his_o touch_v sometime_o also_o man_n shall_v second_o kind_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o have_v enemy_n which_o do_v unjust_o trouble_v he_o and_o see_v wherefore_o he_o desire_v god_n too_o plead_v his_o cause_n and_o restore_v he_o by_o this_o we_o be_v admonish_v according_a to_o that_o which_o i_o have_v already_o say_v that_o when_o we_o have_v live_v in_o a_o good_a conscience_n and_o have_v travel_v even_o to_o do_v good_a unto_o every_o man_n so_o that_o no_o man_n have_v any_o cause_n just_o to_o complain_v of_o we_o yet_o although_o we_o be_v persecute_v and_o trouble_v we_o must_v not_o for_o all_o that_o be_v overmuch_o abash_v because_o as_o great_a matter_n as_o all_o these_o be_v lay_v upon_o david_n for_o this_o be_v most_o sure_a that_o he_o walk_v so_o marvelous_a sound_o as_o that_o every_o man_n have_v occasion_n too_o love_v he_o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o be_v not_o without_o trouble_n amongst_o man_n and_o why_o so_o because_o of_o their_o unthankfulness_n let_v we_o then_o understande_v that_o this_o vice_n begin_v not_o first_o in_o these_o day_n i_o mean_v the_o unthankfulness_n and_o iniquity_n of_o man_n but_o long_a time_n a_o go_v and_o therefore_o as_o much_o as_o in_o we_o lie_v let_v we_o seek_v after_o peace_n but_o if_o so_o be_v we_o shall_v procure_v to_o do_v any_o wrong_n the_o world_n will_v never_o give_v over_o hate_v of_o we_o and_o procure_v of_o our_o hurt_n yea_o and_o go_v about_o even_o to_o destroy_v us._n but_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v let_v not_o that_o seem_v strange_a unto_o we_o see_v it_o come_v so_o to_o pass_v in_o david_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o now_o in_o the_o second_o place_n we_o be_v to_o beseech_v god_n too_o avenge_v our_o cause_n too_o comfort_v we_o when_o we_o see_v ourselves_o to_o be_v wrongful_o deal_v withal_o when_o as_o we_o be_v oppress_v with_o false_a and_o slanderous_a report_n that_o we_o be_v evil_o speak_v of_o without_o just_a desert_n we_o must_v they_o desire_v god_n to_o be_v our_o warrant_n and_o deliverer_n and_o let_v we_o not_o doubt_v but_o that_o he_o will_v take_v our_o cause_n into_o his_o own_o hand_n &_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v more_o than_o a_o protector_n &_o lawyer_n for_o he_o say_v that_o he_o be_v the_o adverse_a party_n for_o the_o maintenance_n and_o defence_n of_o the_o cause_n and_o quarrel_n of_o all_o his_o when_o as_o they_o shall_v have_v walk_v sincere_o before_o himself_o &_o before_o man_n loe_o here_o a_o notable_a and_o very_o profitable_a admonition_n that_o be_v we_o must_v cast_v all_o our_o care_n upon_o god_n when_o as_o we_o be_v wrongful_o accuse_v injurious_o deal_v withal_o trouble_v and_o oppress_v and_o beseech_v god_n to_o take_v the_o cause_n into_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o to_o avenge_v it_o himself_o now_o this_o may_v serve_v too_o make_v we_o patient_a for_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o man_n so_o trouble_v and_o torment_v themselves_o wax_v so_o fierce_a and_o cruel_a use_v revenge_n or_o else_o grow_v to_o be_v very_a coward_n when_o any_o wrong_n be_v do_v they_o but_o because_o that_o they_o have_v not_o recourse_n unto_o god_n put_v not_o themselves_o under_o his_o protection_n &_o pray_v he_o not_o to_o hold_v his_o holy_a hand_n over_o they_o and_o to_o defend_v their_o cause_n now_o if_o we_o know_v this_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o our_o heart_n shall_v incontinent_a be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o quiet_a and_o let_v we_o not_o have_v such_o boil_a affection_n as_o we_o have_v to_o be_v avenge_v of_o they_o which_o trouble_v we_o but_o let_v we_o follow_v the_o doctrine_n which_o be_v here_o set_v down_o unto_o we_o to_o wit_n that_o when_o we_o be_v unjust_o entreat_v let_v we_o pray_v unto_o god_n that_o he_o will_v avenge_v our_o cause_n and_o beside_o also_o let_v we_o learn_v to_o stay_v ourselves_o of_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v make_v unto_o we_o thereof_o for_o
to_o be_v a_o merciful_a father_n unto_o us._n and_o so_o he_o make_v a_o entrance_n into_o our_o heart_n for_o his_o mercy_n that_o we_o may_v be_v capable_a to_o enjoy_v his_o benefit_n see_v then_o it_o be_v so_o that_o god_n by_o his_o word_n show_v himself_o and_o also_o come_v nigh_o unto_o we_o we_o must_v not_o be_v abash_v although_o they_o which_o refuse_v his_o word_n yea_o which_o so_o vilananous_o and_o contemptuous_o reject_v it_o as_o we_o see_v we_o must_v not_o i_o say_v think_v it_o strange_a although_o that_o they_o feel_v no_o help_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n in_o their_o affliction_n &_o that_o his_o merciful_a goodness_n stretch_v not_o itself_o unto_o they_o now_o david_n return_v to_o this_o sentence_n which_o we_o have_v see_v and_o desire_v to_o be_v quicken_v according_a unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o be_v very_o true_a he_o use_v the_o word_n judgement_n but_o all_o come_v to_o one_o as_o we_o have_v already_o heretofore_o declare_v quicken_v i_o then_o according_a to_o thy_o judgement_n say_v he_o yea_o which_o i_o have_v love_v but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o show_v we_o how_o it_o be_v that_o god_n have_v promise_v to_o quicken_v we_o and_o why_o he_o attribute_v it_o unto_o his_o only_a mercy_n now_o this_o be_v a_o say_n which_o import_v a_o very_a good_a and_o excellent_a lesson_n for_o they_o which_o confess_v that_o they_o can_v not_o be_v save_v but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n yet_o notwithstanding_o how_o soever_o it_o be_v they_o cease_v not_o to_o overthrow_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o extol_v their_o merit_n all_o whatsoever_o concern_v our_o estate_n &_o salvation_n it_o be_v because_o he_o be_v good_a and_o never_o seek_v the_o cause_n otherwise_o but_o in_o his_o goodness_n when_o then_o we_o be_v enforce_v to_o confess_v that_o it_o be_v god_n which_o maintain_v we_o we_o must_v also_o forthwith_o confess_v that_o god_n have_v do_v it_o for_o his_o promise_n sake_n and_o for_o that_o he_o have_v revel_v it_o as_o a_o testimony_n in_o his_o word_n moreover_o see_v wherein_o a_o great_a number_n of_o people_n be_v too_o too_o gross_o deceive_v that_o be_v that_o god_n promise_v too_o maintain_v and_o conserve_v we_o according_o as_o we_o be_v worthy_a thereof_o or_o according_o as_o every_o man_n shall_v deserve_v and_o hereupon_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v we_o darken_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o fain_o through_o arrogancy_n i_o know_v not_o what_o presumption_n that_o it_o seem_v that_o we_o ourselves_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o god_n favour_v we_o and_o that_o the_o same_o come_v at_o the_o least_o partly_o of_o ourselves_o and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v so_o much_o the_o more_o thorough_o to_o consider_v of_o that_o which_o david_n speak_v of_o in_o this_o place_n thy_o mercy_n o_o lord_n be_v great_a o_o quicken_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o testimony_n he_o say_v not_o only_o o_o lord_n i_o be_o conserve_v by_o thou_o because_o thou_o have_v promise_v but_o meaning_n to_o declare_v that_o it_o come_v altogether_o free_o he_o show_v that_o god_n be_v not_o move_v too_o make_v any_o such_o promise_n ne_o yet_o be_v induce_v by_o any_o occasion_n that_o he_o find_v in_o we_o or_o that_o he_o take_v it_o on_o our_o behalf_n no_o no_o but_o because_o his_o mercy_n be_v great_a so_o then_o by_o this_o saying_n david_n teach_v we_o that_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v altogether_o free_a that_o they_o hang_v not_o of_o our_o worthiness_n ne_o yet_o because_o god_n find_v some_o thing_n in_o we_o why_o to_o love_v &_o succour_v we_o so_o but_o because_o he_o be_v good_a &_o pity_v our_o misery_n loe_o what_o make_v he_o to_o offer_v himself_o so_o liberal_a to_o we_o &_o consequent_o to_o perform_v his_o promise_n we_o must_v learn_v then_o to_o glorify_v ourselves_o in_o the_o mere_a grace_n of_o god_n and_o not_o to_o attribute_v any_o thing_n whatsoever_o either_o to_o our_o own_o person_n or_o yet_o to_o our_o merit_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o at_o all_o in_o us._n now_o it_o follow_v many_o there_o be_v that_o trouble_n and_o persecute_v i_o yet_o do_v i_o not_o swerve_v from_o thy_o testimony_n here_o david_n make_v a_o protestation_n and_o complaint_n too_o the_o end_n god_n may_v the_o rather_o incline_v himself_o to_o hear_v and_o help_v he_o and_o that_o be_v according_a too_o that_o which_o he_o have_v already_o say_v for_o if_o we_o will_v have_v god_n to_o help_v we_o it_o be_v good_a reason_n that_o we_o shall_v patient_o attend_v his_o leisure_n and_o in_o very_a deed_n he_o that_o shall_v presume_v to_o advance_v himself_o or_o think_v that_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n upon_o he_o and_o then_o let_v himself_o to_o be_v overcome_v with_o temptation_n and_o become_v altogether_o desperate_a he_o by_o this_o mean_n suffer_v not_o god_n too_o exercise_v his_o goodness_n as_o he_o have_v promise_v but_o in_o thus_o do_v shut_v the_o gate_n against_o god_n as_o it_o be_v wherefore_o if_o we_o be_v move_v to_o be_v revenge_v of_o our_o enemy_n to_o be_v our_o own_o carver_n as_o we_o say_v in_o revenge_n and_o not_o tarry_v until_o god_n do_v his_o office_n do_v we_o think_v that_o he_o ought_v to_o help_v we_o he_o that_o will_v do_v justice_n with_o his_o own_o hand_n and_o of_o his_o own_o private_a authority_n will_v he_o come_v to_o crave_v aid_n of_o the_o magistrate_n after_o that_o he_o have_v kill_v his_o enemy_n if_o so_o be_v then_o there_o be_v any_o man_n which_o think_v to_o be_v save_v of_o himself_o and_o yet_o say_v unto_o god_n save_v i_o o_o lord_n this_o a_o very_a mockery_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o cause_n david_n say_v in_o this_o place_n many_o there_o be_v o_o lord_n which_o trouble_n and_o persecute_v i_o yet_o do_v i_o not_o swerve_v from_o thy_o statute_n david_n speak_v not_o here_o to_o boast_v himself_o but_o it_o be_v to_o declare_v that_o he_o wait_v for_o the_o help_n of_o god_n and_o put_v himself_o under_o his_o protection_n trust_v to_o obtain_v his_o request_n because_o he_o may_v bold_o crave_v it_o of_o he_o see_v then_o what_o a_o full_a boldness_n we_o may_v conceive_v to_o have_v in_o call_v upon_o god_n &_o not_o to_o doubt_v but_o that_o we_o shall_v obtain_v whatsoever_o we_o pray_v for_o unto_o he_o according_a to_o his_o will_n that_o be_v he_o have_v pity_n of_o we_o so_o that_o i_o say_v we_o must_v always_o stay_v ourselves_o upon_o his_o promise_n as_o we_o see_v david_n here_o have_v do_v so_o then_o let_v we_o here_o consider_v in_o the_o first_o place_n that_o so_o often_o as_o we_o come_v unto_o god_n we_o must_v come_v unto_o he_o attend_v his_o good_a leisure_n and_o not_o to_o be_v shake_v with_o what_o soever_o temptation_n shall_v come_v unto_o we_o but_o we_o must_v always_o seek_v after_o god_n meditate_v continual_o upon_o his_o promise_n &_o have_v they_o always_o in_o mind_n we_o must_v i_o say_v have_v all_o this_o if_o we_o will_v have_v god_n to_o help_v and_o defend_v us._n now_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v david_n brag_v not_o here_o of_o his_o virtue_n but_o mean_v only_o that_o he_o be_v not_o carry_v away_o with_o the_o iniquity_n of_o man_n to_o be_v even_o with_o they_o or_o to_o cry_v quittance_n as_o we_o say_v that_o he_o be_v not_o in_o haste_n to_o have_v that_o which_o be_v promise_v he_o but_o hold_v himself_o continual_o quiet_a and_o still_o attend_v patient_o to_o have_v god_n to_o accomplish_v that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v touch_v the_o revenge_n of_o his_o enemy_n even_o so_o when_o as_o any_o shall_v grieve_v &_o trouble_v we_o yet_o must_v we_o not_o leave_v to_o follow_v our_o vocation_n and_o to_o persevere_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n for_o the_o great_a part_n of_o we_o will_v always_o be_v full_a of_o malice_n and_o unthankfulness_n until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n have_v reform_v us._n so_o then_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v not_o have_v hurt_v any_o man_n if_o they_o rise_v up_o against_o we_o in_o arm_n let_v we_o not_o be_v astonish_v thereat_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o now_o the_o other_o be_v that_o when_o our_o enemy_n shall_v be_v infinite_a in_o number_n we_o whole_o unto_o it_o and_o bestow_v all_o his_o thought_n &_o wit_n on_o it_o and_o why_o do_v he_o so_o say_v he_o the_o beginning_n of_o it_o be_v true_a and_o the_o righteousness_n thereof_o endure_v for_o evermore_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v thus_o say_v thou_o o_o lord_n be_v true_a in_o thy_o word_n &_o shall_v always_o be_v find_v so_o &_o afterward_o it_o be_v nothing_o but_o attribute_v this_o title_n to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o david_n here_o show_v us._n in_o sum_n when_o as_o we_o will_v have_v a_o perfect_a assurance_n to_o be_v confirm_v and_o strengthen_v in_o all_o temptation_n so_o that_o the_o devil_n shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o take_v fast_o hold_v upon_o we_o let_v we_o have_v this_o regard_n to_o stay_v ourselves_o chief_o upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o whence_o come_v this_o circumspection_n where_o be_v that_o zeal_n of_o we_o in_o praise_v of_o god_n which_o david_n say_v that_o he_o have_v see_v that_o sarce_o one_o word_n can_v be_v pull_v from_o we_o when_o any_o speech_n shall_v be_v of_o praise_v god_n yea_o be_v it_o not_o for_o fashion_v sake_n and_o contenaunce_n only_o this_o be_v far_o from_o continue_v in_o it_o and_o far_o from_o extend_v our_o whole_a study_n thereto_o as_o to_o make_v it_o the_o most_o principal_a thing_n that_o ought_v to_o be_v in_o our_o whole_a life_n now_o we_o be_v hereby_o convince_v of_o our_o slender_a studve_n and_o meditate_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n because_o we_o be_v so_o cold_a and_o negligent_a in_o praise_v of_o he_o and_o without_o have_v a_o great_a care_n in_o acknowledge_v his_o benefit_n bestow_v upon_o us._n and_o that_o which_o be_v more_o let_v we_o thorough_o consider_v that_o david_n say_v not_o only_o that_o he_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o prayer_n unto_o god_n for_o once_o &_o so_o continue_v it_o for_o certain_a day_n but_o he_o say_v daily_o &_o afer_fw-la seven_o time_n that_o be_v that_o he_o continue_v in_o it_o all_o his_o life_n long_o for_o this_o word_n seven_o be_v take_v in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n for_o a_o marvelous_a perseverance_n when_o as_o man_n continue_v it_o and_o be_v not_o draw_v away_o for_o any_o cause_n
