the_o lord_n bishop_n of_o rochester_n letter_n to_o the_o right_n honourable_a the_o lord_n commissioner_n of_o his_o majesty_n ecclesiastical_a court._n my_o lord_n i_o most_o humble_o entreat_v your_o lordship_n favourable_a interpretation_n of_o what_o i_o now_o write_v that_o since_o your_o lordship_n be_v resolve_v to_o proceed_v against_o those_o who_o have_v not_o comply_v with_o the_o king_n command_n in_o read_v his_o declaration_n it_o be_v absolute_o impossible_a for_o i_o to_o serve_v his_o majesty_n any_o long_o in_o this_o commission_n i_o beg_v leave_n to_o tell_v your_o lordship_n that_o though_o i_o myself_o do_v submit_v in_o that_o particular_a yet_o i_o will_v never_o be_v any_o way_n instrumental_a in_o punish_v those_o my_o brethren_n that_o do_v not_o for_o as_o i_o call_v god_n to_o witness_n that_o what_o i_o do_v be_v mere_o on_o a_o principle_n of_o conscience_n so_o i_o be_o full_o satisfy_v that_o their_o forbearance_n be_v upon_o the_o same_o principle_n i_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o think_v otherwise_o of_o the_o whole_a body_n of_o the_o clergy_n who_o upon_o all_o occasion_n have_v signalise_v their_o loyalty_n to_o the_o crown_n and_o their_o zealous_a affection_n to_o his_o present_a majesty_n person_n in_o the_o worst_a of_o time_n now_o my_o lord_n the_o safety_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n seem_v to_o be_v exceed_o concern_v in_o this_o prosecution_n i_o must_v declare_v i_o can_v with_o a_o safe_a conscience_n sit_v as_o judge_n in_o this_o cause_n upon_o so_o many_o pious_a and_o excellent_a man_n with_o who_o if_o it_o be_v god_n will_n it_o rather_o become_v i_o to_o suffer_v than_o to_o be_v in_o the_o least_o accessary_a to_o their_o suffering_n i_o therefore_o earnest_o request_v your_o lordship_n to_o intercede_v with_o his_o majesty_n that_o i_o may_v be_v gracious_o dismiss_v any_o further_a attendanee_n at_o the_o board_n and_o to_o assure_v he_o that_o i_o be_o still_o ready_a to_o sacrifice_v whatever_o i_o have_v to_o his_o service_n but_o my_o conscience_n &_o religion_n my_o lord_n your_o lordship_n most_o faithful_a and_o humble_a servant_n r_o
