often_o look_v his_o face_n in_o that_o glass_n which_o shall_v represent_v to_o he_o those_o three_o thing_n which_o i_o last_o mention_v viz._n his_o natural_a and_o spiritual_a defect_n which_o be_v many_o and_o great_a in_o themselves_o though_o not_o in_o comparison_n of_o other_o man_n his_o moral_a defilement_n and_o pollution_n that_o be_v his_o innumerable_a sin_n and_o last_o those_o many_o rebuke_n wherewith_o god_n have_v correct_v he_o for_o sin_n i_o say_v he_o who_o in_o the_o mirror_n of_o serious_a contemplation_n shall_v frequent_o behold_v these_o three_o thing_n and_o whilst_o he_o lay_v all_o his_o endowment_n and_o enjoyment_n in_o one_o scale_n shall_v lay_v these_o in_o the_o other_o can_v easy_o be_v lift_v up_o or_o think_v of_o himself_o more_o high_o than_o he_o ought_v i_o have_v evince_v that_o every_o man_n have_v much_o to_o be_v humble_v for_o and_z under_z if_o i_o can_v also_o prove_v that_o no_o man_n have_v any_o thing_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o or_o cause_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o any_o thing_n when_o that_o be_v make_v good_a i_o shall_v then_o have_v demonstrate_v that_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v humble_a that_o do_v but_o thorough_o know_v himself_o and_o that_o do_v judge_n himself_o no_o better_o though_o no_o worse_a neither_o than_o indeed_o he_o be_v there_o be_v but_o four_o sort_n of_o thing_n that_o any_o man_n in_o the_o world_n can_v take_v a_o pride_n in_o viz._n what_o he_o be_v what_o he_o have_v what_o he_o have_v do_v and_o last_o what_o he_o have_v suffer_v upon_o a_o good_a account_n as_o for_o the_o first_o of_o these_o a_o man_n may_v know_v what_o he_o be_v as_o that_o he_o be_v a_o child_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o not_o be_v proud_a of_o it_o john_n 3.14_o we_o know_v that_o we_o have_v pass_v from_o death_n to_o life_n etc._n etc._n 1_o joh._n 5.19_o we_o know_v that_o we_o be_v of_o god_n etc._n etc._n for_o why_o shall_v a_o man_n be_v proud_a of_o what_o he_o be_v by_o the_o mere_a grace_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n it_o be_v no_o pride_n in_o st._n paul_n to_o say_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n i_o be_o what_o i_o be_o viz._n a_o saint_n a_o apostle_n who_o be_v before_o a_o persecutor_n 1_o cor._n 15.10_o he_o that_o see_v that_o there_o be_v some_o good_a thing_n in_o he_o towards_o the_o lord_n but_o yet_o more_o evil_a than_o good_a more_o flesh_n than_o spirit_n more_o dross_n than_o silver_n more_o sin_n than_o grace_n have_v no_o more_o cause_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o that_o little_a grace_n and_o holiness_n which_o he_o have_v than_o a_o man_n cause_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o beauty_n who_o have_v only_o a_o white_a hand_n or_o a_o handsome_a leg_n all_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o body_n be_v ill_o favour_v and_o deform_v if_o our_o sin_n preponderate_v our_o grace_n i_o mean_v if_o they_o be_v more_o and_o great_a than_o they_o as_o in_o this_o life_n they_o always_o be_v if_o there_o be_v in_o we_o a_o more_o general_a indisposedness_n than_o there_o be_v promptness_n and_o readiness_n to_o what_o be_v good_a more_o earthly_a than_o heavenly_a mindedness_n more_o self-seeking_a than_o self-denial_n more_o bad_a thought_n than_o good_a more_o unruly_a than_o well_o govern_v desire_n and_o affection_n as_o who_o can_v say_v there_o be_v not_o then_o have_v we_o more_o cause_n to_o be_v humble_a than_o to_o be_v proud_a yea_o to_o be_v humble_a and_o not_o proud_a if_o that_o grace_n wherein_o we_o most_o excel_v be_v it_o patience_n or_o whatsoever_o else_o be_v more_o deficient_a than_o it_o be_v perfect_a more_o remote_a from_o perfection_n than_o it_o be_v near_o to_o it_o than_o we_o who_o have_v but_o as_o it_o be_v put_v on_o our_o harness_n have_v no_o cause_n to_o boast_v which_o be_v for_o they_o only_o who_o have_v put_v it_o off_o how_o imperfect_a be_v those_o grace_n in_o which_o we_o be_v most_o defective_a if_o that_o grace_n be_v so_o defective_a in_o which_o we_o be_v most_o perfect_a neither_o have_v we_o cause_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o what_o we_o have_v or_o possess_v any_o more_o than_o of_o what_o we_o be_v for_o if_o we_o may_v be_v proud_a of_o either_o we_o may_v with_o more_o reason_n be_v proud_a of_o what_o we_o be_v than_o of_o what_o we_o have_v i_o mean_v of_o those_o good_a thing_n which_o be_v within_o we_o and_o be_v as_o it_o be_v part_n of_o ourselves_o than_o of_o those_o which_o be_v without_o we_o a_o good_a descent_n a_o good_a estate_n a_o good_a report_n a_o great_a and_o good_a office_n do_v constitute_v no_o man_n good_a that_o be_v possess_v of_o any_o or_o all_o of_o they_o for_o a_o bad_a man_n may_v happen_v to_o have_v they_o all_o and_o see_v such_o thing_n do_v not_o make_v or_o denominate_v man_n good_a they_o can_v redound_v so_o much_o to_o any_o man_n praise_n as_o inward_a goodness_n do_v and_o therefore_o no_o man_n can_v pretend_v so_o much_o reason_n to_o be_v proud_a of_o those_o thing_n for_o it_o be_v less_o honourable_a to_o enjoy_v what_o be_v good_a which_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n may_v do_v than_o
