shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n my_o god_n though_o i_o do_v commit_v adultery_n never_o so_o close_o and_o cause_v urias_n secret_o to_o be_v slay_v yet_o alas_o i_o see_v all_o i_o do_v be_v manifest_a before_o thy_o eye_n and_o can_v not_o be_v hide_v from_o thy_o sight_n doctrine_n god_n man_n sin_n before_o god_n howsoever_o man_n and_o woman_n sin_v never_o so_o close_o &_o secret_o yet_o they_o sin_n before_o the_o face_n of_o the_o lord_n even_o in_o his_o eye_n and_o under_o his_o nose_n the_o lord_n stand_v by_o and_o look_v on_o they_o neither_o distance_n of_o place_n nor_o secret_a corner_n neither_o darkness_n of_o the_o night_n nor_o any_o device_n and_o shift_n of_o man_n whatsoever_o be_v able_a to_o cover_v our_o sin_n from_o god_n eye_n 4.13_o psal_n 139._o hebr._n 4.13_o there_o be_v no_o creature_n which_o be_v not_o manifest_a in_o his_o sight_n but_o all_o thing_n be_v naked_a and_o open_a before_o his_o eye_n with_o who_o we_o have_v to_o do_v it_o the_o lord_n eye_n use_v 1_o oh_o that_o all_o man_n can_v be_v persuade_v of_o this_o doctrine_n that_o we_o ever_o sin_v in_o the_o lord_n sight_n when_o we_o lie_v steal_v commit_v adultery_n then_o do_v the_o lord_n see_v we_o his_o fiery_a eye_n behold_v we_o and_o the_o lord_n even_o then_o stand_v at_o our_o elbow_n and_o look_n upon_o we_o how_o will_v this_o be_v a_o bless_a mean_n to_o bridle_v man_n and_o to_o restrain_v they_o from_o many_o secret_a and_o hide_a sin_n what_o man_n dare_v be_v so_o bold_a and_o desperate_a to_o cut_v a_o purse_n when_o he_o see_v the_o judge_n eye_n set_v on_o he_o and_o behold_v he_o and_o what_o man_n be_v so_o desperate_a that_o dare_v steal_v lie_v commit_v adultery_n if_o he_o know_v that_o the_o all-seeing_a and_o pierce_a eye_n of_o almighty_a god_n do_v behold_v he_o and_o look_v on_o he_o this_o do_v the_o lord_n god_n tell_v the_o seven_o church_n of_o asia_n in_o every_o epistle_n 3._o philip._n 4._o revel_v 3._o i_o know_v thy_o work_n o_o then_o let_v the_o remembrance_n of_o this_o make_v we_o watchful_a and_o wary_a to_o look_v unto_o all_o our_o way_n to_o live_v as_o ever_o in_o god_n presence_n use_v 2_o here_o be_v matter_n of_o comfort_n and_o encouragement_n unto_o the_o child_n of_o god_n for_o as_o the_o lord_n see_v and_o behold_v all_o the_o evil_n and_o sin_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n to_o judge_v and_o to_o punish_v they_o all_o be_v naked_a to_o his_o pierce_a and_o all-seeing_a eye_n so_o likewise_o all_o our_o good_a deed_n and_o virtue_n be_v know_v and_o see_v of_o god_n i_o know_v thy_o work_n all_o thou_o do_v both_o good_a and_o bad_a i_o know_v all_o now_o then_o if_o the_o lord_n do_v take_v knowledge_n of_o all_o our_o work_n and_o see_v they_o yea_o there_o be_v nothing_o we_o do_v but_o it_o be_v manifest_a in_o his_o eye_n we_o know_v he_o be_v a_o bountiful_a god_n and_o plentiful_o reward_v all_o that_o love_n and_o fear_v he_o yea_o he_o will_v not_o leave_v a_o cup_n of_o cold_a water_n without_o a_o reward_n o_o then_o let_v we_o proceed_v and_o abound_v in_o good_a work_n in_o knowledge_n faith_n repentance_n patience_n obedience_n humility_n zeal_n love_n etc._n etc._n for_o the_o lord_n know_v and_o see_v all_o and_o will_v not_o let_v any_o one_o good_a work_n go_v unrewarded_a now_o follow_v the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o verse_n contain_v a_o reason_n why_o the_o prophet_n david_n do_v thus_o acknowledge_v and_o confess_v his_o sin_n and_o humble_v himself_o for_o they_o namely_o that_o by_o this_o mean_v he_o may_v clear_v the_o lord_n of_o all_o injustice_n and_o hard_a deal_n in_o word_n or_o deed_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n i_o confess_v that_o see_v i_o have_v so_o grievous_o sin_v against_o thou_o and_o so_o foul_o commit_v evil_a in_o thy_o sight_n there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o i_o shall_v so_o much_o as_o accuse_v thou_o of_o the_o least_o cruelty_n injustice_n or_o hard_a deal_n with_o i_o either_o in_o thy_o terrible_a threaten_n by_o thy_o servant_n nathan_n or_o thy_o righteous_a judgement_n in_o take_v away_o the_o child_n conceive_v in_o adultery_n for_o i_o acknowledge_v that_o i_o have_v deserve_v far_o more_o grievous_a plague_n and_o punishment_n for_o this_o my_o vile_a and_o grievous_a sin_n and_o therefore_o by_o this_o my_o confession_n i_o do_v clear_v thou_o o_o lord_n of_o all_o injustice_n and_o cruel_a deal_n &_o condemn_v myself_o to_o be_v worthy_a of_o far_o more_o grievous_a judgement_n and_o punishment_n for_o my_o sin_n so_o as_o all_o the_o world_n may_v see_v and_o know_v that_o thou_o be_v most_o just_a in_o all_o thy_o threaten_n denounce_v against_o sin_n and_o most_o pure_a and_o righteous_a in_o all_o thy_o judgement_n &_o fatherly_a chasticement_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v just_o that_o be_v that_o thou_o may_v be_v know_v just_a in_o thy_o work_n and_o all_o the_o world_n may_v see_v and_o know_v that_o there_o be_v great_a and_o just_a cause_n of_o thy_o threaten_n against_o sin_n and_o sinner_n now_o what_o these_o speech_n be_v and_o the_o judgement_n threaten_v against_o david_n look_v in_o the_o second_o of_o samuel_n chapter_n 12._o verse_n 10._o first_o that_o the_o sword_n shall_v never_o depart_v
great_a sinner_n and_o will_v to_o we_o if_o we_o can_v repent_v and_o seek_v unto_o he_o for_o the_o lord_n must_v draw_v we_o by_o his_o mercy_n else_o we_o can_v not_o come_v at_o he_o to_o the_o such_o poor_a soul_n have_v need_v to_o be_v teach_v the_o way_n of_o god_n use_v 1_o this_o may_v admonish_v all_o those_o that_o be_v set_v over_o god_n people_n magistrate_n &_o such_o as_o have_v power_n in_o their_o hand_n to_o provide_v that_o such_o poor_a ignorant_a people_n as_o want_v the_o mean_n may_v be_v teach_v the_o way_n of_o god_n for_o as_o s._n paul_n say_v 14._o ro._n 10.14_o pro._n 29.18_o mark_v 14._o how_o shall_v they_o call_v on_o he_o on_o who_o they_o have_v not_o believe_v how_o shall_v they_o believe_v on_o he_o of_o who_o they_o have_v not_o hear_v how_o shall_v they_o hear_v without_o a_o preacher_n and_o where_o prophesy_v fail_v the_o people_n perish_v and_o it_o be_v say_v of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n that_o when_o he_o see_v the_o people_n as_o poor_a sheep_n have_v no_o shepherd_n he_o have_v compassion_n on_o they_o and_o his_o bowel_n earn_a towards_o they_o oh_o that_o the_o bowel_n of_o all_o such_o as_o have_v charge_n to_o look_v unto_o it_o unclean_a be_v because_o they_o be_v not_o teach_v the_o word_n and_o way_n of_o god_n it_o can_v not_o be_v if_o they_o be_v teach_v and_o instruct_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o vile_a and_o wicked_a so_o ignorant_a profane_a irreligious_a and_o superstitious_a but_o where_o vision_n fail_v the_o people_n must_v needs_o perish_v and_o therefore_o those_o that_o seek_v to_o take_v away_o teach_v and_o preach_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n of_o what_o spirit_n be_v they_o david_n he_o think_v it_o the_o only_a way_n to_o bring_v man_n to_o god_n to_o conver_n poor_a sinner_n and_o therefore_o to_o take_v it_o away_o to_o root_v out_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n and_o mean_n of_o salvation_n what_o be_v it_o else_o but_o to_o cast_v away_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o people_n to_o famish_v they_o to_o pine_v they_o and_o to_o starve_v they_o and_o therefore_o let_v we_o pray_v to_o god_n with_o christ_n that_o the_o lord_n of_o the_o harvest_n will_v send_v forth_o labourer_n into_o his_o harvest_n 9_o math._n 9_o the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o verse_n show_v the_o fruit_n of_o this_o duty_n verse_n part_v of_o the_o verse_n that_o david_n will_v perform_v namely_o that_o hereby_o by_o his_o doctrine_n and_o by_o his_o example_n many_o a_o poor_a sinner_n shall_v be_v convert_v unto_o god_n doctr._fw-la 1_o in_o that_o david_n here_o promise_v to_o himself_o this_o use_n and_o fruit_n that_o he_o shall_v be_v by_o his_o preach_a and_o example_n work_n conversion_n of_o a_o sinner_n be_v god_n work_n a_o mean_n to_o bring_v other_o to_o god_n hence_o we_o may_v learn_v a_o gracious_a comfort_n for_o all_o godly_a minister_n of_o the_o word_n who_o labour_n both_o by_o life_n and_o doctrine_n to_o win_v other_o that_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v painful_a in_o teach_v and_o careful_a to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n they_o shall_v certain_o find_v the_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o their_o labour_n to_o the_o convert_n of_o sinner_n and_o save_v of_o soul_n if_o i_o have_v send_v these_o prophet_n and_o if_o they_o have_v stand_v in_o my_o counsel_n and_o declare_v my_o way_n unto_o my_o people_n 23.22_o jer._n 23.22_o than_o they_o shall_v have_v turn_v they_o from_o their_o evil_a way_n and_o from_o the_o wickedness_n of_o their_o invention_n where_o the_o lord_n show_v that_o all_o such_o as_o be_v the_o true_a prophet_n of_o god_n stand_v in_o his_o steed_n teach_v his_o way_n they_o shall_v see_v the_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o their_o labour_n and_o the_o cause_n why_o man_n convert_v not_o soul_n be_v because_o they_o be_v never_o send_v of_o god_n and_o do_v not_o teach_v god_n way_n and_o stand_v not_o in_o his_o steed_n or_o else_o because_o though_o they_o teach_v the_o truth_n yet_o their_o life_n be_v vile_a and_o wicked_a they_o pluck_v down_o with_o one_o hand_n that_o they_o build_v with_o the_o other_o and_o destroy_v that_o in_o life_n which_o they_o teach_v in_o doctrine_n use_v 1_o hence_o mark_v the_o reason_n why_o so_o many_o great_a and_o learned_a man_n of_o excellent_a gift_n wit_n and_o learning_n do_v not_o convert_v many_o soul_n unto_o god_n because_o they_o either_o teach_v not_o god_n way_n but_o their_o own_o way_n their_o wit_n eloquence_n and_o device_n or_o else_o though_o they_o teach_v well_o yet_o they_o live_v ill_a and_o so_o cause_v their_o doctrine_n to_o be_v less_o regard_v and_o weaken_v the_o power_n of_o it_o by_o their_o sinful_a life_n and_o it_o please_v god_n in_o his_o great_a mercy_n to_o use_v the_o labour_n of_o his_o poor_a servant_n who_o dare_v not_o speak_v their_o own_o word_n nor_o seek_v themselves_o but_o god_n word_n in_o plain_a evidence_n and_o simplicity_n and_o live_v according_a to_o their_o teach_n the_o lord_n do_v bless_v their_o labour_n for_o the_o conversion_n of_o sinner_n and_o save_v of_o poor_a soul_n use_v 2_o it_o may_v admonish_v all_o those_o who_o either_o teach_v their_o own_o way_n by_o paint_a cloquence_n toy_n or_o tale_n or_o else_o though_o they_o teach_v the_o truth_n that_o they_o join_v with_o it_o a_o godly_a life_n else_o they_o may_v teach_v long_o enough_o ere_o they_o do_v any_o good_a and_o if_o they_o will_v convert_v sinner_n let_v they_o first_o be_v convert_v when_o thou_o be_v convert_v strengthen_v thy_o brethren_n 22._o luke_n 22._o and_o let_v no_o such_o careless_a minister_n wonder_v that_o god_n give_v no_o blessing_n to_o their_o labour_n see_v they_o fail_v either_o in_o teach_v god_n way_n true_o and_o plain_o or_o else_o in_o life_n they_o live_v wicked_o and_o offensive_a verse_n 14._o 14_o deliver_v i_o from_o blood_n o_o god_n the_o god_n of_o my_o salvation_n and_o my_o tongue_n shall_v sing_v joyful_o of_o thy_o righteousness_n sin_n david_n can_v satisfy_v himself_o in_o seek_v mercy_n for_o his_o sin_n in_o this_o verse_n yet_o once_o again_o david_n return_v to_o entreat_v for_o mercy_n and_o favour_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n that_o he_o his_o faithful_a servant_n 11._o 2._o sam._n 11._o and_o many_o other_o with_o he_o so_o also_o the_o punishment_n due_a unto_o it_o verse_n part_n of_o the_o verse_n this_o verse_n contain_v two_o part_n first_o a_o request_n with_o great_a earnestness_n to_o god_n for_o deliverance_n from_o his_o grievous_a sin_n deliver_v i_o from_o blood_n second_o a_o reason_n to_o move_v the_o lord_n thereunto_o namely_o take_v from_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n which_o he_o will_v show_v forth_o and_o my_o tongue_n shall_v sing_v joyful_o of_o thy_o rightenesse_n in_o the_o petition_n first_o mark_v what_o be_v the_o request_n namely_o that_o god_n will_v deliver_v he_o from_o blood_n that_o be_v a_o most_o cruel_a and_o bloody_a sin_n of_o shed_v the_o innocent_a blood_n of_o many_o of_o his_o subject_n second_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o request_n o_o god_n thou_o that_o be_v the_o god_n of_o my_o salvation_n that_o he_o pray_v to_o god_n now_o with_o faith_n assuting_a himself_o that_o upon_o his_o repentance_n god_n be_v now_o reconcile_v unto_o he_o and_o though_o he_o have_v sin_v grievous_o yet_o not_o clean_o fall_v from_o grace_n but_o so_o as_o still_o he_o can_v call_v god_n his_o god_n and_o the_o god_n of_o his_o salvation_n deliver_v i_o from_o blood_n that_o be_v from_o the_o punishment_n which_o be_v due_a unto_o
