manner_n of_o carnal_a and_o heathenish_a man_n or_o because_o they_o distrust_v god_n help_v and_o therefore_o either_o fly_v to_o witch_n and_o wizard_n that_o be_v to_o say_v to_o the_o instrument_n of_o the_o devil_n that_o by_o his_o help_n the_o hand_n of_o god_n may_v be_v remove_v from_o they_o or_o else_o to_o some_o other_o unlawful_a mean_n whereby_o they_o make_v shift_v to_o save_v their_o bodily_a life_n for_o a_o time_n with_o the_o woeful_a loss_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n for_o ever_o or_o else_o because_o they_o believe_v not_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n make_v to_o our_o prayer_n and_o therefore_o be_v discourage_v from_o pray_v and_o become_v desperate_a as_o though_o it_o will_v nothing_o avail_v they_o to_o call_v upon_o god_n 21.15_o 4._o the_o four_o and_o last_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v be_v the_o time_n when_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v unto_o god_n 5.17_o we_o be_v to_o pray_v always_o and_o without_o cease_v but_o especial_o as_o here_o measure_n of_o their_o grace_n either_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o greatness_n or_o of_o the_o continuance_n 1.4_o that_o patience_n may_v have_v her_o perfect_a work_n in_o they_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o best_a man_n have_v endure_v the_o great_a trial_n as_o appear_v in_o abraham_n david_n and_o job_n 4._o etc._n etc._n wherefore_o james_n exhort_v we_o to_o count_v it_o exceed_a he_o may_v teach_v we_o obedience_n by_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o suffer_v 5.8_o 5._o that_o he_o may_v wean_v our_o soul_n from_o worldly_a desire_n 6._o that_o he_o may_v exercise_v and_o thing_n arise_v which_o usual_o accompany_v deprecation_n namely_o from_o the_o inward_a sense_n of_o our_o woe_n and_o sorrow_n for_o our_o misery_n proceed_v a_o outward_a bewail_v and_o lament_v of_o our_o estate_n which_o in_o the_o faithful_a sometime_o break_v forth_o into_o expostulation_n and_o from_o the_o base_a esteem_v and_o judge_v ourselves_o arise_v confession_n of_o our_o sin_n in_o respect_n whereof_o we_o acknowledge_v ourselves_o unworthy_a of_o the_o lest_o of_o god_n mercy_n but_o worthy_a of_o his_o great_a judgement_n lamentation_n be_v the_o outward_a express_v of_o our_o inward_a mourning_n whereby_o we_o particular_o bewail_v our_o woeful_a estate_n before_o the_o lord_n make_v our_o moan_n unto_o he_o and_o pour_v forth_o our_o grief_n as_o it_o be_v into_o grief_n do_v chatter_v like_o a_o crane_n or_o a_o swallow_n and_o mourn_v like_o a_o dove_n thus_o some_o expound_v that_o place_n 7.6_o 1._o sam._n 7_o where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o jew_n ourselves_o either_o in_o our_o soul_n as_o the_o anguish_n of_o the_o soul_n for_o sin_n which_o be_v the_o great_a affliction_n or_o other_o heaviness_n and_o passion_n melancholic_a or_o in_o our_o body_n as_o sickness_n infirmity_n hurt_n or_o wound_n or_o in_o our_o good_n as_o poverty_n want_n loss_n debt_n or_o in_o our_o good_a name_n as_o infamy_n by_o evil_a report_n or_o slander_n or_o in_o those_o that_o belong_v unto_o we_o as_o wife_n child_n and_o servant_n to_o other_o as_o to_o our_o kindred_n friend_n acquaintance_n neighbour_n countryman_n brethren_n in_o christ_n as_o all_o christian_n be_v to_o be_v esteem_v of_o we_o though_o foreigner_n in_o respect_n of_o place_n and_o in_o respect_n of_o affection_n not_o well_o mind_v to_o we_o for_o such_o a_o sympathy_n there_o ought_v to_o be_v betwixt_o those_o that_o be_v member_n of_o the_o same_o body_n politic_a but_o much_o more_o of_o the_o same_o mystical_a body_n of_o christ_n especial_o when_o other_o respect_n also_o concur_v of_o kindred_n amity_n acquaintance_n neighbourhood_n etc._n etc._n that_o in_o a_o fellow_n feel_n and_o christian_a compassion_n we_o shall_v mourn_v when_o other_o member_n of_o that_o this_o commandment_n belong_v unto_o we_o and_o that_o the_o lord_n call_v we_o to_o fast_v and_o prayer_n 22.12_o be_v it_o that_o in_o respect_n of_o thyself_o and_o those_o that_o belong_v to_o thou_o thou_o have_v no_o cause_n of_o mourning_n as_o who_o almost_o be_v free_a yet_o thy_o brethren_n thy_o sister_n thy_o friend_n thy_o countryman_n thy_o fellow_n member_n in_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n be_v visit_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n or_o the_o place_n of_o their_o dwell_n at_o least_o infect_v with_o this_o contagious_a sickness_n do_v david_n fast_o and_o mourn_v and_o pray_v for_o his_o enemy_n when_o they_o be_v in_o affliction_n and_o do_v not_o thou_o mourn_v for_o thy_o dear_a brethren_n and_o friend_n but_o though_o we_o have_v no_o private_a cause_n of_o grief_n yet_o the_o common_a calamity_n shall_v most_o of_o all_o affect_v we_o see_v the_o chief_a city_n and_o many_o other_o place_n of_o the_o land_n the_o lord_n shoot_v his_o arrow_n on_o every_o side_n be_v visit_v with_o the_o fearful_a plague_n of_o pestilence_n what_o shall_v we_o think_v because_o we_o as_o yet_o through_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n have_v escape_v this_o plague_n that_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o a_o time_n of_o affliction_n wherein_o we_o be_v to_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o god_n by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n far_o be_v it_o from_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o hard-hearted_a as_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o take_v to_o heart_n the_o affliction_n of_o joseph_n 6.6_o or_o such_o unnatural_a member_n of_o the_o body_n politic_a or_o unsound_a and_o rot_a member_n of_o the_o mystical_a body_n of_o christ_n as_o that_o when_o the_o chief_a city_n and_o as_o it_o be_v the_o head_n of_o our_o country_n beside_o many_o other_o place_n and_o person_n be_v so_o grievous_o afflict_v that_o we_o shall_v not_o condole_v and_o mourn_v together_o with_o they_o and_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o they_o or_o may_v we_o think_v that_o because_o ourselves_o and_o perhaps_o also_o the_o place_n where_o we_o dwell_v be_v free_a that_o therefore_o this_o affliction_n and_o judgement_n do_v not_o concern_v we_o yes_o belove_a it_o do_v near_o concern_v us._n for_o that_o this_o affliction_n be_v lay_v upon_o the_o land_n for_o sin_n we_o need_v not_o doubt_n see_v the_o scripture_n so_o oft_o do_v teach_v that_o truth_n 3.39_o behold_v say_v the_o prophet_n isaiah_n thou_o be_v angry_a when_o we_o offend_v david_n testify_v that_o the_o lord_n with_o rebuke_n do_v chastise_v man_n for_o sin_n and_o jeremie_n that_o man_n be_v
