be_v deliver_v from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n and_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n be_v humble_v in_o thyself_o and_o patient_a towards_o thy_o brother_n out_o of_o the_o sense_n of_o thy_o own_o imperfection_n and_o strive_v not_o only_o against_o this_o or_o that_o sin_n according_a to_o the_o manner_n of_o worldly_a man_n whereby_o it_o appear_v that_o their_o over_o the_o body_n of_o death_n the_o apostle_n his_o lamentation_n be_v twofold_a first_o he_o declare_v himself_o therefore_o to_o be_v miserable_a second_o he_o wish_v to_o be_v deliver_v of_o both_o which_o we_o shall_v speak_v by_o god_n assistance_n and_o first_o of_o this_o that_o the_o apostle_n declare_v himself_o to_o beo_fw-la miserable_a because_o he_o have_v the_o body_n of_o death_n in_o he_o o_o miserable_a man_n say_v the_o apostle_n who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o it_o be_v very_o strange_a the_o apostle_n lament_v here_o after_o this_o manner_n in_o other_o place_n he_o affirm_v and_o that_o confident_o that_o he_o rejoice_v even_o in_o the_o great_a tribulation_n 2_o cor._n 4.8_o etc._n etc._n 2_o cor._n 6.4_o etc._n etc._n how_o do_v he_o here_o then_o so_o mournful_o complain_v do_v he_o speak_v from_o his_o heart_n when_o he_o say_v o_o miserable_a man_n be_v he_o not_o then_o a_o man_n bless_v of_o the_o lord_n be_v he_o not_o then_o assure_v of_o his_o salvation_n how_o come_v it_o then_o that_o he_o call_v himself_o miserable_a without_o doubt_v the_o apostle_n speak_v here_o in_o good_a earnest_n answ_n for_o he_o be_v then_o in_o a_o hot_a skirmish_n and_o have_v little_a time_n or_o cause_n to_o dally_v or_o lest_o yea_o he_o speak_v not_o only_o in_o earnest_n but_o also_o upon_o good_a ground_n for_o the_o other_o affliction_n wherein_o he_o say_v he_o do_v glory_n and_o rejoice_v be_v outward_a affliction_n wherein_o in_o truth_n he_o may_v well_o rejoice_v but_o here_o he_o speak_v as_o we_o have_v hear_v before_o of_o his_o natural_a corruption_n of_o the_o sin_n that_o hang_v fast_o upon_o he_o and_o of_o the_o old_a man_n which_o he_o begin_v to_o behold_v in_o all_o the_o part_n and_o member_n thereof_o the_o which_o make_v he_o lament_v and_o complain_v in_o good_a earnest_n as_o be_v a_o thing_n out_o of_o which_o he_o can_v draw_v no_o comfort_n at_o all_o in_o which_o regard_n he_o may_v inst_o account_v himself_o to_o be_v miserable_a for_o this_o body_n of_o death_n consider_v in_o itself_o make_v a_o man_n true_o wretched_a and_o miserable_a the_o which_o may_v sufficient_o be_v gather_v out_o of_o the_o first_o part_n of_o our_o text_n whereunto_o we_o will_v brief_o add_v follow_v that_o the_o body_n of_o death_n in_o respect_n of_o which_o the_o apostle_n so_o earnest_o complain_v have_v these_o miserable_a and_o curse_a effect_n which_o follow_v first_o it_o deface_v and_o deprave_v the_o image_n of_o god_n us._n the_o which_o be_v a_o thing_n altogether_o lamentable_a and_o miserable_a if_o a_o man_n do_v break_v a_o leg_n or_o a_o arm_n how_o do_v he_o cry_v out_o and_o complain_v of_o his_o misery_n what_o cause_n then_o be_v there_o of_o mourning_n and_o complaint_n when_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n be_v break_v to_o piece_n and_o make_v unfit_a for_o every_o good_a use_n when_o the_o most_o noble_a and_o eminent_a of_o man_n be_v â—â—terly_o deprave_a and_o corrupt_v we_o see_v that_o in_o a_o man_n body_n when_o any_o member_n be_v wound_v or_o afflict_v with_o any_o grief_n the_o more_o worthy_a and_o excellent_a that_o member_n be_v the_o great_a be_v both_o the_o grief_n and_o danger_n of_o the_o sore_a prick_v a_o man_n in_o the_o arm_n or_o the_o leg_n with_o the_o point_n of_o a_o needle_n and_o he_o will_v both_o feel_v it_o &_o complain_v of_o it_o but_o prick_v he_o in_o the_o apple_n of_o his_o eye_n and_o that_o shall_v pierce_v he_o to_o the_o heart_n and_o make_v he_o cry_v out_o if_o it_o be_v so_o with_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o body_n how_o great_a be_v the_o pain_n and_o grief_n when_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o mind_n be_v not_o only_o prick_v but_o whole_o put_v out_o when_o the_o most_o noble_a and_o precious_a soul_n be_v wound_v and_o that_o to_o death_n this_o be_v it_o that_o make_v the_o apostle_n cry_v out_o o_o miserable_a man_n second_o man_n thus_o deprave_a in_o soul_n by_o original_a corruption_n disobedience_n be_v by_o nature_n a_o child_n of_o disobedience_n and_o a_o child_n of_o wrath_n ephes_n 2.2.2_o that_o be_v unfit_a for_o the_o service_n of_o god_n &_o liable_a to_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n both_o which_o be_v misery_n beyond_o comparison_n first_o he_o can_v do_v the_o work_n of_o god_n for_o he_o be_v as_o a_o break_a tooth_n which_o serve_v for_o no_o use_n at_o all_o and_o as_o a_o break_a arm_n wherewith_o a_o man_n can_v work_v as_o soon_o as_o a_o man_n begin_v to_o frame_v himself_o unto_o the_o service_n of_o god_n he_o find_v his_o corruption_n ever_o to_o be_v in_o his_o way_n so_o that_o the_o good_a that_o he_o willing_o will_v do_v he_o can_v do_v as_o he_o will_v with_o this_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n great_o move_v howsoever_o the_o child_n of_o the_o world_n which_o put_v not_o forth_o their_o strength_n to_o the_o service_n of_o god_n feel_v no_o inconvenience_n herein_o even_o as_o one_o that_o have_v a_o break_a leg_n and_o lie_v still_o feel_v not_o the_o smart_n thereof_o so_o much_o as_o he_o that_o be_v ever_o assay_v to_o walk_v and_o therefore_o they_o complain_v not_o nevertheless_o this_o exceed_o grieve_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o they_o account_v it_o as_o a_o great_a misery_n that_o they_o can_v no_o better_o perform_v their_o duty_n to_o god_n second_o the_o natural_a man_n be_v liable_a to_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n deut._n 27.26_o he_o that_o destroy_v the_o image_n of_o god_n he_o will_v god_n destroy_v this_o be_v it_o that_o do_v cast_v many_o of_o the_o angel_n out_o of_o heaven_n into_o hell_n this_o drove_n adam_n out_o of_o paradise_n and_o make_v all_o the_o son_n of_o man_n subject_a unto_o eternal_a death_n and_o from_o hence_o do_v arise_v all_o the_o plague_n and_o punishment_n which_o be_v inflict_v upon_o man_n now_o as_o a_o man_n have_v commit_v murder_n &_o be_v come_v to_o himself_o account_v himself_o to_o be_v miserable_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o offence_n which_o make_v he_o worthy_a of_o death_n although_o he_o be_v neither_o apprehend_v nor_o condemn_v to_o die_v even_o so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o child_n of_o god_n who_o notwithstanding_o that_o they_o be_v deliver_v as_o the_o apostle_n be_v from_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n through_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n heb._n 2.15_o yet_o because_o they_o know_v that_o their_o sinfulness_n cause_v god_n to_o hide_v his_o cheerful_a countenance_n from_o they_o isaiah_n 59.2_o which_o be_v unto_o they_o as_o bitter_a as_o death_n itself_o therefore_o they_o cry_v out_o unfeigned_o because_o of_o this_o body_n of_o yet_o nevertheless_o so_o pitiful_o complain_v against_o it_o whereas_o there_o be_v many_o thousand_o that_o go_v frolikely_a along_o be_v never_o touch_v much_o less_o trouble_v therewith_o yet_o their_o sin_n but_o it_o be_v the_o property_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n to_o sorrow_n and_o grieve_v because_o by_o their_o sin_n they_o have_v offend_v and_o displease_v their_o good_a and_o gracious_a father_n so_o then_o go_v forwards_o thus_o must_v it_o be_v with_o you_o if_o you_o will_v have_v it_o be_v well_o with_o you_o step_v one_o step_n further_o with_o the_o apostle_n and_o as_o with_o he_o you_o mourn_v because_o of_o the_o wickedness_n of_o your_o sin_n so_o cease_v not_o and_o give_v yourselves_o no_o rest_n till_o with_o he_o also_o you_o find_v yourselves_o to_o be_v deliver_v both_o from_o the_o guilt_n &_o dominion_n of_o sin_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n whereof_o by_o his_o assistance_n we_o purpose_v to_o speak_v in_o this_o part_n of_o the_o text_n which_o now_o follow_v text._n here_o the_o apostle_n wish_v to_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o bady_n of_o death_n o_o miserable_a man_n say_v he_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o death_n now_o we_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o body_n of_o death_n in_o this_o life_n for_o thereunto_o have_v the_o apostle_n respect_n as_o it_o appear_v in_o the_o verse_n follow_v when_o in_o this_o life_n we_o be_v save_v from_o our_o sin_n mat._n 1.21_o namely_o when_o we_o have_v not_o only_o obtain_v forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n but_o be_v also_o strengthen_v against_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n &_o more_o and_o more_o set_v free_a from_o the_o bondage_n thereof_o joh._n 8.32.36_o thus_o the_o apostle_n wish_v here_o that_o the_o power_n of_o his_o corruption_n may_v more_o &_o more_o be_v break_v and_o decay_a moreover_o the_o apostle_n here_o wish_v ask_v who_o shall_v deliver_v he_o which_o we_o must_v not_o understand_v as_o though_o he_o do_v not_o know_v through_o who_o he_o shall_v be_v deliver_v for_o he_o declare_v in_o the_o verse_n follow_v that_o he_o know_v it_o well_o enough_o but_o here_o he_o ask_v the_o question_n only_o to_o let_v we_o understand_v that_o in_o himself_o he_o find_v no_o mean_n whereby_o he_o may_v be_v deliver_v like_o josaphat_n be_v environ_v with_o his_o enemy_n &_o see_v no_o way_n to_o escape_v cry_v unto_o god_n for_o help_v 2_o chron._n 18.31_o or_o as_o the_o seafaring_a man_n who_o in_o time_n of_o storm_n and_o tempest_n when_o their_o own_o art_n and_o industry_n can_v help_v they_o do_v cry_n unto_o the_o lord_n psal_n 107.28.29_o so_o the_o apostle_n cry_v here_o as_o out_o of_o great_a misery_n and_o affliction_n unto_o god_n for_o help_v know_v that_o it_o must_v come_v only_o from_o he_o for_o sin_n make_v man_n so_o miserable_a that_o nothing_o but_o the_o almighty_a power_n of_o god_n can_v deliver_v he_o for_o by_o sin_n we_o be_v cast_v under_o the_o foot_n of_o satan_n we_o lie_v condemn_v unto_o eternal_a death_n and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v incense_v &_o kindle_v against_o our_o soul_n for_o which_o who_o know_v in_o himself_o any_o remedy_n judas_n find_v none_o run_v unto_o the_o tree_n but_o paul_n run_v unto_o christ_n vers_fw-la 25._o for_o it_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n alone_o which_o can_v deliver_v the_o wretched_a son_n of_o man_n from_o the_o misery_n of_o their_o sin_n but_o some_o man_n may_v ask_v how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o the_o apostle_n paul_n which_o be_v none_o of_o the_o great_a sinner_n yea_o which_o be_v already_o in_o a_o great_a measure_n free_v from_o the_o might_n of_o sin_n yet_o wish_v thus_o earnest_o to_o be_v deliver_v more_o and_o more_o from_o it_o whereas_o the_o child_n of_o the_o world_n which_o lie_v even_o drown_v therein_o and_o be_v very_a slave_n unto_o it_o yet_o speak_v not_o once_o of_o this_o deliverance_n belove_a it_o come_v from_o this_o that_o the_o apostle_n have_v a_o feeling_n and_o experimental_a knowledge_n of_o the_o misery_n that_o arise_v from_o sin_n and_o therefore_o he_o wish_v to_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o this_o the_o child_n of_o the_o world_n do_v not_o feel_v and_o therefore_o they_o think_v not_o of_o deliverance_n he_o that_o can_v feel_o and_o unfeigned_o complain_v that_o he_o be_v miserable_a because_o he_o be_v sinful_a he_o will_v also_o hearty_o cry_v out_o and_o wish_v to_o be_v deliver_v from_o sin_n from_o hence_o follow_v this_o observation_n christ_n the_o true_a sense_n and_o feel_v of_o the_o misery_n which_o sin_n bring_v we_o into_o cause_v we_o unfeigned_o to_o seek_v our_o deliverance_n out_o of_o sin_n by_o jesus_n christ_n this_o we_o see_v manifest_o in_o the_o apostle_n paul_n for_o this_o cause_n be_v it_o that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n according_a to_o his_o infinite_a wisdom_n send_v john_n the_o baptist_n before_o he_o as_o a_o forerunner_n to_o prepare_v the_o way_n for_o he_o by_o teach_v man_n to_o know_v their_o misery_n whereinto_o they_o be_v bring_v through_o sin_n to_o the_o end_n that_o they_o may_v seek_v their_o deliverance_n out_o of_o sin_n through_o christ_n mat._n 3._o for_o this_o cause_n also_o be_v the_o law_n preach_v that_o meâ—_n be_v thereby_o bring_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o their_o misery_n through_o sin_n rom._n 7.7_o may_v the_o better_o be_v drive_v to_o christ_n in_o which_o respect_n the_o law_n be_v call_v our_o leader_n to_o christ_n gal._n 3.24_o in_o this_o regard_n also_o christ_n say_v that_o those_o that_o be_v whole_a have_v unto_o god_n psal_n 147.9_o and_o the_o great_a the_o misery_n and_o affliction_n be_v the_o great_a be_v the_o desire_n to_o be_v deliver_v now_o there_o be_v no_o smart_n like_o unto_o the_o smart_n of_o sin_n unto_o a_o feel_a conscience_n and_o there_o be_v no_o affliction_n like_v unto_o the_o affliction_n of_o the_o conscience_n for_o as_o we_o say_v before_o the_o more_o noble_a and_o excellent_a that_o member_n be_v which_o be_v affect_v with_o any_o sore_n the_o great_a be_v the_o grief_n and_o pain_n thereof_o so_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o most_o worthy_a and_o eminent_a part_n of_o man_n and_o in_o misery_n and_o distress_n the_o sorrow_n and_o grief_n must_v of_o necessity_n be_v great_a and_o the_o desire_n to_o be_v deliver_v from_o it_o equal_a thereunto_o use_v near_o unto_o they_o and_o demand_v of_o they_o upon_o what_o ground_n they_o hope_v that_o god_n will_v be_v more_o merciful_a unto_o they_o for_o to_o save_v they_o from_o hell_n and_o bring_v they_o to_o heaven_n than_o he_o be_v to_o many_o other_o who_o he_o cast_v into_o destruction_n then_o they_o be_v at_o a_o stand_n not_o know_v what_o to_o say_v or_o do_v or_o it_o may_v be_v run_v not_o to_o be_v deliver_v from_o their_o sin_n but_o live_v take_v their_o pleasure_n and_o delight_v therein_o for_o they_o have_v neither_o true_a knowledge_n nor_o feel_v of_o the_o misery_n and_o miserable_a and_o woeful_a estate_n whereinto_o their_o sin_n have_v bring_v they_o may_v the_o better_o be_v drive_v to_o seek_v their_o deliverance_n through_o jesus_n christ_n for_o it_o be_v unto_o the_o gospel_n for_o their_o deliverance_n in_o and_o through_o jesus_n christ_n reprove_v three_o this_o serve_v to_o admonish_v all_o those_o which_o seek_v to_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o body_n of_o death_n that_o they_o willing_o and_o glad_o suffer_v the_o reproof_n and_o reprehension_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o discovery_n of_o the_o filthiness_n and_o hatefulness_n of_o they_o but_o man_n be_v impatient_a of_o this_o avoid_v &_o shun_v it_o as_o the_o death_n yet_o without_o this_o they_o can_v be_v deliver_v from_o the_o body_n of_o death_n some_o when_o they_o
