reverend_a upright_a and_o learned_a judge_n as_o have_v be_v at_o any_o time_n within_o this_o kingdom_n yet_o that_o among_o they_o there_o have_v be_v always_o some_o who_o may_v be_v sometime_o lead_v by_o affection_n or_o by_o some_o other_o private_a respect_n may_v not_o be_v deny_v unless_o we_o shall_v think_v that_o they_o all_o and_o every_o of_o they_o have_v more_o privilege_n of_o not_o cr_v or_o of_o not_o affect_v like_v or_o dislike_n than_o either_o any_o other_o judge_n or_o man_n of_o any_o other_o profession_n in_o the_o world_n be_v induce_v withal_o therefore_o as_o a_o great_a prince_n be_v content_a nay_o do_v command_v that_o every_o day_n one_o shall_v come_v into_o his_o chamber_n and_o put_v he_o in_o mind_n of_o his_o estate_n and_o to_o tell_v he_o people_n take_v a_o oath_n that_o they_o have_v not_o receive_v nor_o will_v receive_v any_o gift_n or_o reward_n or_o promise_v of_o reward_n for_o their_o favour_n in_o any_o cause_n hear_v or_o to_o be_v hear_v before_o they_o nor_o will_v for_o favour_n fear_v or_o affection_n incline_v to_o either_o party_n otherwise_o than_o as_o the_o very_a truth_n of_o the_o matter_n shall_v move_v perchance_o avoid_v much_o imputation_n to_o themselves_o and_o prejudice_n to_o other_o but_o against_o this_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o there_o will_v be_v many_o objection_n make_v as_o attorney_n officer_n in_o court_n of_o record_n sheriff_n and_o their_o bailiff_n etc._n etc._n for_o the_o first_o sort_n which_o be_v the_o councillor_n at_o law_n and_o barrister_n as_o they_o be_v call_v the_o right_a proceed_n of_o the_o law_n in_o divers_a particular_a man_n case_n in_o suit_n be_v many_o time_n divert_v and_o sometime_o overthrow_v by_o their_o multitude_n insufficiency_n advice_n of_o delatory_a or_o defective_a plea_n by_o their_o take_n of_o excessive_a fee_n and_o by_o their_o absent_v of_o themselves_o from_o the_o barrs_n and_o place_n appoint_v to_o plead_v for_o their_o client_n after_o that_o they_o have_v take_v fe_n first_o the_o multitude_n of_o councillor_n councillor_n multitude_n of_o councillor_n at_o law_n and_o outer_a barrister_n be_v so_o great_a that_o many_o of_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o maintain_v themselves_o and_o some_o have_v few_o or_o no_o client_n at_o all_o especial_o such_o of_o the_o second_o sort_n as_o be_v name_v to_o be_v insufficient_a who_o if_o any_o suitor_n at_o law_n come_v unto_o they_o for_o counsel_n by_o reason_n of_o their_o acquaintance_n kindred_n or_o other_o private_a respect_n they_o many_o time_n send_v they_o away_o unsatisfied_a or_o if_o they_o rely_v on_o such_o weak_a councillor_n sometime_o their_o good_a cause_n for_o want_n of_o sound_a counsel_n be_v overthrow_v the_o reason_n of_o the_o multitude_n and_o insufficiency_n of_o many_o of_o these_o councillor_n law_n the_o insufficiency_n of_o divers_a councillor_n at_o law_n at_o law_n as_o i_o conceive_v it_o be_v because_o divers_a of_o they_o be_v admit_v to_o the_o bar_n before_o they_o have_v read_v over_o half_a the_o volume_n of_o the_o law_n and_o before_o they_o have_v with_o any_o good_a commendation_n or_o allowance_n perform_v the_o exercise_n at_o moote_n and_o at_o readins_n which_o be_v requisite_a for_o the_o place_n and_o for_o the_o testimony_n of_o their_o profession_n and_o sufficiency_n but_o have_v live_v so_o long_o in_o one_o of_o the_o inn_n of_o court_n as_o be_v prescribe_v by_o the_o order_n of_o that_o house_n wherein_o they_o be_v although_o they_o be_v and_o be_v know_v to_o be_v no_o profitable_a or_o painful_a student_n yet_o by_o favour_n they_o find_v mean_n to_o be_v call_v to_o the_o bar_n many_o time_n to_o their_o own_o hindrance_n and_o much_o to_o the_o hurt_n of_o such_o as_o have_v their_o counsel_n the_o second_o cause_n of_o this_o their_o insufficiency_n be_v for_o that_o they_o have_v of_o late_o be_v permit_v to_o plead_v at_o bar_n and_o to_o put_v their_o hand_n unto_o plead_n as_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v make_v barrister_n whereas_o in_o former_a time_n it_o be_v neither_o usual_a or_o allow_v that_o they_o shall_v either_o plead_v at_o barr_n or_o put_v their_o hand_n to_o plead_n till_o three_o year_n after_o they_o be_v call_v and_o in_o those_o time_n they_o be_v keep_v more_o hardly_o and_o strict_o to_o their_o moote_n and_o plead_n in_o those_o house_n wherein_o they_o continue_v the_o inconveniency_n of_o this_o general_a untimely_a and_o promiscuous_a kind_n of_o plead_v and_o counsel_v by_o all_o sort_n of_o lawyer_n in_o rome_n aswell_o the_o unlearned_a as_o the_o able_a and_o sufficient_a be_v foresee_v and_o in_o some_o sort_n prevent_v by_o augustus_n the_o emperor_n in_o his_o time_n who_o ordain_v rome_n augustus_n his_o restraint_n of_o lawyer_n in_o rome_n that_o no_o lawyer_n shall_v practice_v without_o his_o royal_a assent_n and_o approbation_n first_o have_v if_o the_o king_n majesty_n do_v at_o law_n who_o study_v nothing_o more_o than_o as_o it_o may_v be_v true_o term_v the_o gall_n of_o the_o law_n how_o to_o seek_v evasion_n and_o to_o defeat_v the_o true_a meaning_n of_o the_o law_n and_o aswell_o to_o draw_v some_o into_o danger_n of_o the_o law_n and_o to_o overthrow_v the_o right_n of_o other_o by_o their_o own_o incircumspection_n by_o their_o adversary_n cunning_a and_o by_o the_o advice_n of_o such_o wicked_a councillor_n against_o who_o there_o shall_v be_v some_o sharp_a law_n make_v for_o their_o punishment_n or_o if_o not_o so_o yet_o it_o shall_v seem_v requisite_a that_o every_o councillor_n at_o the_o law_n shall_v law_n a_o oath_n necessary_a to_o be_v give_v unto_o councillor_n at_o law_n when_o he_o be_v call_v to_o the_o bar_n take_v some_o special_a oath_n for_o his_o upright_a deal_n in_o the_o advice_n of_o his_o client_n to_o proceed_v according_a to_o equity_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o lead_v they_o into_o any_o by_o path_n
