not_o despise_v they_o but_o so_o much_o the_o more_o be_v careful_a to_o prepare_v ourselves_o for_o they_o because_o the_o service_n be_v more_o easy_a &_o the_o promise_n more_o lightsome_a if_o then_o it_o will_v not_o hold_v that_o we_o have_v no_o sacrament_n because_o the_o outward_a seal_n be_v alter_v than_o it_o be_v as_o weak_a a_o consequence_n that_o we_o have_v no_o seven_o day_n to_o be_v sanctify_v because_o the_o day_n be_v alter_v and_o we_o keep_v not_o the_o same_o that_o they_o do_v so_o that_o no_o proof_n can_v be_v gather_v from_o the_o vary_a of_o the_o day_n that_o the_o duty_n be_v abolish_v because_o the_o authority_n be_v as_o strong_a the_o reason_n as_o good_a and_o the_o same_o reason_n do_v not_o hold_v in_o other_o thing_n again_o they_o object_n that_o to_o a_o christian_n every_o day_n be_v a_o sabbath_n day_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v not_o restrain_v it_o to_o one_o day_n more_o than_o another_o but_o the_o answer_n to_o this_o be_v that_o it_o be_v most_o false_a for_o god_n do_v not_o require_v neither_o be_v a_o christian_n able_a to_o keep_v every_o day_n a_o sabbath_n day_n so_o long_o as_o they_o remain_v on_o earth_n indeed_o for_o the_o true_a worship_n of_o god_n now_o follow_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o commandment_n draw_v partly_o from_o god_n judgement_n against_o all_o false_a worshipper_n &_o from_o his_o mercy_n they_o serve_v god_n after_o another_o manner_n than_o he_o have_v warrant_v &_o command_v the_o reason_n take_v from_o his_o kindness_n to_o those_o that_o be_v obedient_a because_o we_o be_v very_o slow_a and_o slack_a to_o the_o right_a service_n of_o god_n be_v to_o allure_v &_o provoke_v we_o because_o that_o god_n will_v not_o only_o bless_v such_o a_o one_o in_o his_o own_o soul_n &_o body_n both_o in_o life_n &_o death_n but_o his_o blessing_n shall_v reach_v further_o even_o upon_o many_o generation_n in_o his_o posterity_n so_o that_o god_n will_v never_o leave_v blessing_n those_o that_o with_o a_o upright_o hart_n worship_v he_o in_o truth_n according_a to_o his_o word_n i_o be_o jehovah_n thy_o god_n a_o jealous_a strong_a god_n in_o these_o word_n call_v himself_o our_o god_n he_o imply_v that_o there_o be_v a_o everlasting_a marriage_n betwixt_o god_n &_o we_o &_o therefore_o as_o it_o be_v a_o foul_a fact_n for_o a_o woman_n after_o her_o marriage_n &_o the_o covenant_n of_o god_n betwixt_o they_o to_o defile_v her_o body_n with_o filthy_a adulterer_n so_o it_o be_v a_o much_o more_o heinous_a &_o abominable_a thing_n for_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n after_o his_o covenant_n with_o god_n to_o follow_v idol_n and_o image_n not_o content_v himself_o with_o the_o perfect_a beauty_n of_o christ_n then_o where_o he_o say_v a_o jealous_a god_n he_o compare_v himself_o to_o a_o husband_n that_o as_o he_o love_v his_o wife_n most_o tender_o &_o dear_o whilst_o she_o remain_v chaste_a &_o faithful_a so_o be_v he_o most_o offend_a &_o provoke_v if_o she_o deal_v lewd_o and_o treacherous_o with_o he_o so_o christ_n jesus_n have_v love_v we_o most_o dear_o and_o give_v his_o blood_n for_o we_o but_o if_o we_o deal_v not_o chaste_o with_o he_o in_o this_o case_n he_o will_v be_v as_o a_o jealous_a man_n who_o most_o abundant_a love_n be_v abuse_v do_v burst_v forth_o into_o the_o strong_a hatred_n as_o solomon_n say_v that_o jealousy_n be_v the_o rage_n of_o man_n &_o the_o eye_n of_o jealousy_n see_v all_o thing_n then_o he_o call_v himself_o a_o strong_a god_n show_v his_o power_n that_o he_o have_v ability_n as_o willingness_n to_o punish_v in_o that_o he_o call_v himself_o jealous_a it_o declare_v that_o he_o want_v not_o will_n and_o cause_n to_o pour_v vengeance_n on_o they_o and_o in_o that_o he_o be_v a_o strong_a god_n he_o be_v of_o might_n sufficient_a to_o plague_n and_o confound_v those_o that_o wicked_o break_v his_o covenant_n from_o all_o this_o description_n whereby_o god_n have_v set_v out_o himself_o unto_o we_o to_o be_v our_o god_n and_o a_o jealous_a god_n that_o can_v abide_v any_o such_o filthiness_n and_o a_o strong_a mighty_a god_n that_o be_v able_a to_o execute_v his_o wrath_n on_o the_o offender_n we_o may_v and_o must_v take_v courage_n and_o comfort_n to_o stand_v for_o god_n pure_a worship_n against_o all_o idolater_n and_o idolatry_n and_o all_o manner_n of_o superstition_n be_v that_o he_o be_v our_o god_n one_o that_o have_v bind_v himself_o in_o covenant_n to_o defend_v and_o protect_v we_o as_o also_o he_o be_v jealous_a which_o carry_v a_o flame_n of_o love_n to_o all_o those_o that_o be_v faithful_a as_o well_o as_o a_o exceed_a detestation_n of_o the_o unfaithful_a and_o then_o he_o be_v a_o strong_a god_n not_o strong_a with_o a_o idle_a kind_n of_o strength_n that_o lie_v hide_v within_o he_o and_o never_o be_v put_v in_o practice_n but_o he_o do_v use_v his_o strength_n to_o the_o maintain_n and_o protect_v of_o all_o such_o as_o be_v true_a friend_n to_o he_o and_o maintainer_n of_o his_o worship_n which_o be_v for_o comfort_n of_o those_o who_o friend_n and_o such_o from_o who_o they_o have_v their_o maintenance_n be_v popish_a and_o will_v hate_v they_o and_o be_v enemy_n to_o they_o if_o they_o be_v enemy_n to_o superstition_n and_o love_n god_n and_o his_o worship_n but_o fear_v not_o that_o god_n be_v a_o strong_a god_n if_o they_o will_v not_o help_v he_o will_v they_o have_v no_o such_o power_n against_o you_o as_o god_n have_v for_o you_o so_o long_o as_o you_o continue_v upright_o in_o his_o worship_n this_o be_v also_o for_o the_o terror_n of_o all_o idolatrous_a and_o superstitious_a person_n that_o have_v many_o thing_n to_o uphold_v they_o and_o be_v well_o friend_v and_o strong_a defend_v but_o yet_o mischief_n shall_v be_v their_o end_n in_o the_o end_n because_o he_o be_v strong_a than_o all_o man_n that_o set_v himself_o against_o they_o and_o who_o they_o provoke_v even_o to_o jealousy_n by_o their_o filthiness_n who_o see_v all_o their_o way_n as_o he_o say_v pull_v out_o thy_o adultery_n from_o betwixt_o thy_o breast_n that_o be_v those_o monument_n of_o idolatry_n which_o idolater_n put_v so_o much_o trust_v in_o as_o agnus_n dei_fw-la etc._n etc._n pull_v they_o out_o they_o offend_v he_o he_o can_v abide_v the_o sight_n of_o they_o no_o more_o than_o a_o jealous_a husband_n the_o wantonness_n for_o the_o name_n by_o which_o god_n set_v out_o himself_o in_o this_o reason_n visit_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o father_n on_o the_o child_n first_o it_o may_v be_v object_v how_o god_n can_v in_o justice_n do_v this_o and_o punish_v the_o child_n for_o the_o father_n fault_n but_o to_o that_o one_o may_v answer_v as_o god_n do_v in_o hosea_n 2._o 2._o speak_v to_o the_o jew_n he_o bid_v they_o plead_v with_o their_o mother_n compare_v himself_o to_o a_o husband_n he_o show_v that_o there_o be_v no_o fault_n in_o he_o but_o all_o the_o blame_n lie_v on_o the_o adulterous_a mother_n for_o as_o a_o husband_n may_v without_o any_o fault_n put_v away_o the_o wife_n that_o have_v deal_v trecherouslie_o and_o her_o adulterous_a brood_n to_o so_o god_n may_v justly_o plague_v and_o forsake_v both_o the_o parent_n and_o the_o wicked_a child_n of_o wicked_a parent_n now_o his_o vengeance_n upon_o the_o child_n of_o idolatrous_a parent_n be_v show_v especial_o in_o these_o thing_n first_o in_o withhold_a the_o mean_n of_o grace_n from_o they_o and_o also_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n second_o in_o let_v they_o see_v their_o father_n evil_a way_n so_o imitate_v they_o three_o in_o withhold_a from_o they_o those_o mean_n that_o may_v turn_v and_o convert_v they_o and_o help_v they_o out_o of_o their_o sin_n as_o the_o admonition_n of_o his_o child_n and_o such_o like_a but_o the_o doctrine_n that_o we_o may_v gather_v hence_o be_v that_o ungodly_a parent_n be_v the_o most_o deadly_a enemy_n unto_o their_o child_n as_o in_o exo._n 34._o where_o god_n set_v down_o his_o name_n most_o comfortable_o and_o the_o abundance_n of_o his_o mercy_n yet_o he_o add_v this_o withal_o hold_v not_o the_o wicked_a innocent_a but_o visit_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o father_n on_o the_o child_n this_o the_o example_n of_o wicked_a ahad_n do_v evident_o prove_v for_o in_o that_o he_o will_v shed_v the_o innocent_a blood_n of_o naboth_n in_o that_o he_o will_v commit_v idolatry_n and_o his_o house_n and_o that_o his_o child_n about_o seaventy_n person_n have_v their_o head_n chop_v from_o their_o body_n and_o be_v make_v as_o dung_n and_o all_o his_o kinsfolk_n &_o acquaintance_n fare_v the_o worse_a for_o his_o wickedness_n and_o so_o jeroboam_fw-la that_o seducer_n of_o israel_n he_o think_v by_o his_o idolatry_n to_o have_v establish_v the_o kingdom_n to_o he_o &_o he_o
prayer_n as_o in_o deed_n they_o shall_v which_o never_o hope_v that_o god_n will_v look_v any_o whit_n the_o more_o favourablie_o upon_o they_o for_o a_o lawful_a and_o a_o just_a oath_n but_o if_o god_n will_v punish_v vain_a swearer_n he_o will_v reward_v good_a swear_n and_o those_o that_o use_v it_o aright_o as_o a_o curse_n be_v denounce_v against_o the_o foolish_a and_o idle_a abuse_n of_o it_o so_o the_o reverend_a and_o conscionable_a use_n of_o it_o must_v have_v a_o promise_n of_o blessing_n annex_v to_o it_o also_o but_o for_o want_v of_o knowledge_n and_o faith_n in_o this_o point_n we_o want_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o whereas_o a_o christian_n swear_v for_o conscience_n sake_n and_o in_o obedience_n to_o god_n commandment_n may_v lay_v upon_o a_o oath_n among_o his_o best_a service_n and_o account_n and_o treasure_n it_o up_o as_o a_o precious_a jewel_n that_o shall_v bring_v a_o excellent_a reward_n with_o it_o for_o god_n will_v not_o forget_v those_o that_o
